Objective:
To evaluate the safety of a herbal pilatory for external use.
Methods :
An acute eye irritation test were employed to detect the eye irritation of the herbal pilatory;a skin irritation test,a skin sensitization test and a skin phototoxicity test were employed to detect the dermal toxicity;Salmonella typhimurium reverse mutation assay(Ames test)and chromosome aberration test in CHL cells were employed to detect the effects of the pilatory on gene mutation and chromosome aberration in prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
Results:
When the eyes of rabbits exposed to the pilatory without rinse during the first 24 hours, the conjunctiva showed congestion and edema with the highest score of 2,corneal opacity was observed with the highest score of 1;however,these symptoms returned to normal within 72 hours, with the score reduced to 0. No irritation to the skin of rabits was found after exposed to the pilatory for fourteen days,no skin sensitization was introduced by Buehler test and no skin phototoxicity on guinea pigs was detected. There was no abnormal growth of reverse mutation colonies induced by the pilatory under S9 acitivation or not. There was no statistically significant rise of chromosome aberration rate in the exposed CHL cells compared to the control groups(P>0.05).
Conclusion
Under the condition, the herbal pilatory showed mild and reversible irritation to eyes, while no dermal toxicity and genetic toxicity were observed. The safety of the herbal pilatory for external use is acceptable.
2.Effect of exercise and nutritional support on the inflammatory parameters among prefrail and frail elderly patients
Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2019;25(2):196-199
Objective? To evaluate the effects of exercise and nutritional support on the inflammatory parameters among prefrail and frail elderly patients. Methods? A total of 64 inpatients in the Geriatrics Department of Yancheng Third People's Hospital from April 2016 to October 2017 were selected by convenience sampling method, and randomly divided into control group and intervention group, with 32 cases in each group. The patients in the control group received routine geriatric nursing, while the patients in the intervention group received an adapted physical fitness and nutrition intervention program for 12 weeks. The tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin 6(IL-6), C-reaction protein (CRP) and total leukocyte count of the patients before and after intervention were compared. Results? There was no statistical significance in the difference of TNF-α and total leukocyte count between the two groups after 12 weeks' intervention (P> 0.05). The IL-6 and CRP of the intervention group were (2.62±1.78) pg/ml and (0.38±0.19) mg/dl respectively, which were both lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions? In prefrail and frail elderly people, exercise and nutritional support can delay the increase in some inflammatory parameters, like IL-6 and CRP.

Objective? To explore the status of family resilience, negative emotions and exercise compliance in patients receiving chemotherapy after surgery for breast cancer and to analyze the correlation between family resilience and negative emotions, exercise compliance. Methods? Patients receiving chemotherapy after surgery for breast cancer in Yancheng Third People's Hospital from March 2016 to March 2018 were selected using convenient sampling. Their family resilience, negative emotions and exercise compliance were evaluated with the family resilience scale, Self-Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Depression Scale (SDS) and exercise compliance scale. Spearman analysis was used for correlation analysis. Results? The total score of family resilience in the patients averaged (3.75±0.59); the score of depression totalled (41.52±9.12);the score of depression totaled (46.39±9.87); and the total score of exercise compliance in these patients was (51.32±7.85). Family resilience was negatively correlated with the patients' negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, but positively correlated with exercise compliance (P< 0.05). Conclusions? Low family resilience levels, anxiety and depression, and poor exercise compliance are found in patients receiving chemotherapy after surgery for breast cancer. The patients' family resilience is negatively correlated with negative emotions such as anxiety and depression, but positively correlated with exercise compliance.
4.Effect of the occupation recreational therapy on the elderly bedridden patients′emotional state and their cognitive function
Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2016;22(33):4806-4809
Objective To investigate the application effect of occupation recreational therapy in improving the elderly bedridden patients′negative emotions and cognitive function .Methods Totally 82 cases of elderly patients corresponding to diagnosis standards were randomly divided into the control group ( conventional drug treatment and nursing ) and the intervention group ( conventional treatment and occupation recreational therapy) with 41 cases in each group .Before and 6 months after the intervention , we evaluated the bedridden degree, anxiety, depression and cognitive ability with self-rating anxiety scale (SAS), geriatric depression scale (GDS), mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and Montreal cognitive assessment (MoCA) scales. Results 6 months after intervention , the SAS and GDS score of patients in the control group increased from (53.85±5.659) and (14.56±3.9310) to (56.83±6.245) and (18.44±4.219), and their emotional state was significantly worse ( P<0.05) .The SAS and GDS score of patients in the intervention group dropped from (54.44± 5.496) and (14.29±3.593) to (49.93±5.303) and (10.17±2.999), and their emotional state was significantly better (P<0.05).After intervention, the MMSE scores of patients in two groups were (28.44±2.793) and (28.93±2.849) (P>0.05), while their MoCA scores were (24.90±2.095) and (26.20±1.939) (P<0.05). Conclusions The occupation recreational therapy plays an important role in improving the elderly bedridden patients′emotional state and protecting their cognitive function .
