Inflammation is the body’s response to damage, infection or other stimuli, but its excessive or continuous development can lead to a variety of diseases. Although modern medical anti-inflammatory therapies were widely used, it is often accompanied by limitations such as more adverse reactions. Based on the “holistic view” and “differential treatment”, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) regards inflammation as a manifestation of the imbalance of yin and yang in the body and the conflict between good and evil. The application of anti-inflammatory TCM is not only aimed at the pathological state of “inflammation”, but also based on the overall consideration of “syndrome”. According to different types of syndrome, anti-inflammatory TCM can be divided into heat-clearing and detoxifying agents (such as Lonicera japonica and Isatis indigotica ), heat-clearing and drying dampness agents (such as Coptidis Rhizoma), blood-activating and stasis-dissolving agents (such as Salvia miltiorrhiza ) and vital qi-strengthening and pathogenic factor-expelling agents (such as Panax ginseng ). Four types of anti-inflammatory TCM restore the body’s immune balance through the systematic regulation of multi-component, multi-target and multi-pathway, exhibiting a good anti-inflammatory effect. Future research should focus on integrating systematic biology, applying artificial intelligence, carrying out high-quality evidence-based research, and combining traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine, so as to reveal the overall regulatory law of anti-inf lammatory effects of TCM and promote clinical rational use.

Exploring the genetic basis of human infertility is currently under intensive investigation. However, only a handful of genes have been validated in animal models as disease-causing genes in infertile men. Thus,to better understand the genetic basis of human spermatogenesis and bridge the knowledge gap between humans and other animal species,we construct the FertilityOnline,a data-base integrating the literature-curated functional genes during spermatogenesis into an existing sper-matogenic database,SpermatogenesisOnline 1.0.Additional features, including the functional annotation and genetic variants of human genes, are also incorporated into FertilityOnline.By searching this database, users can browse the functional genes involved in spermatogenesis and instantly narrow down the number of candidates of genetic mutations underlying male infertility in a user-friendly web interface.Clinical application of this database was exampled by the identifi-cation of novel causative mutations in synaptonemal complex central element protein 1(SYCE1)and stromal antigen 3(STAG3)in azoospermic men.In conclusion,FertilityOnline is not only an integrated resource for spermatogenic genes but also a useful tool facilitating the exploration of the genetic basis of male infertility.

In order to study the effect of light with different wavelengths on the motion behavior of carp robots, phototaxis experiment, anatomical experiment, light control experiment and speed measurement experiment were carried out in this study. Blue, green, yellow and red light with different wavelength were used to conduct phototaxis experiments on carp to observe their movement behavior. By dissecting the skull bones of the carp to determine the appropriate location to carry the light control device, we independently developed a light control carrying device which was suitable for any illumination intensity environment. The experiment of the light-controlled carp robots was carried out. The motion behavior of the carp robot was checked by using computer binocular stereo vision technology. The motion trajectory of the carp robot was tracked and obtained by applying kernel correlation filter (KCF) algorithm. The motion velocity of the carp robot at different wavelengths was calculated according to their motion trajectory. The results showed that carps' sensitivity to different light changed from strong to weak in the order of blue, red, yellow and green, so that using light with different wavelengths to control the speed of the carp robot has certain laws to follow. A new method to avoid brain damage in carp robots control can be provided in this study.

Objective:To analyze clinical features of aortoesphageal fistula (AEF) patients with massive upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods:Five AEF patients with massive upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage admitted in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2016 January 1st to 2019 December 31st. The clinical data, endoscopic findings, radiological manifestations, treatment and clinical outcomes were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Among 5 patients, 4 were males, 1 was female with an average age of (58±8) years old. The underlying conditions were atherosclerosis ( n=4), hypertension ( n=3), hyperlipidemia ( n=1); 2 cases had aortic aneurysm stent implantation and 1 case of rheumatic heart disease had valve replacement. All 5 patients were complicated with hematemesis and hypovolemic shock, and 4 cases had sentinel hemorrhage. Contrast-enhanced CT or CT angiography of the aorta showed thicken esophageal wall, local esophageal discontinuity, aortic aneurysm, gas around the aortic stent and contrast agent spilling over. The gastroscopy showed esophageal depression lesions, deep ulcers, mucosal erosion with bleeding. Conservative therapy and endoscopic hemostasis failed, 2 patients died without surgical intervention; 3 patients underwent emergency surgeries, 2 survived and 1 died perioperatively. Conclusions:Aortoesophageal fistula is in lack of specific clinical manifestations but is highly in mortality. Therefore CT and gastrocopic examination should be performed for suspected patients, early diagnosis and surgical treatment are the key to save patients′ lives.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(12):1812-1816
BACKGROUND:During ordinary plate fixation, the soft tissues around the fracture of the proximal humerus are nearly stripped to impact blood supply, and moreover, an ordinary steel plate cannot meet with the fixed requirements for severe osteoporosis, large bone defects and comminuted fractures. OBJECTIVE: To observe the functional recovery and complications in middle-aged patients with proximal humeral fractures undergoing stainless steel locking plate implantation. METHODS:From March 2011 to March 2014, 48 patients with proximal humeral fractures were treated in the 306th RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The 48 patients were folowed up for 6-17 years, and the mean healing time was (15.3±1.2) weeks. At the last folow-up, the Neer scores were excelent in 12 cases, good in 22 cases, fair in 11 cases and poor in 3 cases, with an excelent-good rate of 71%. After internal fixation, there was one case of Hospital of PLA, including 20 males and 28 females, with an average age of 58 years. Of the 48 cases, there were 9 cases of Neer 2 fractures, 26 cases of Neer 3 fractures, and 13 cases of Neer 4 cases, al of which belonged to closed injuries. Al the patients were subject to locking plate implantation for repair of fractures of the proximal humerus, and evaluated based on Neer scores. soft tissue infection, two cases of traumatic arthritis, and no bone ununion and osteomyelitis. These findings suggest that the stainless steel locking plate implantation for repair of fractures of the proximal humerus can achieve a good anatomic reduction under minimaly invasive conditions and produce a stable rehabilitation environment for the soft tissue around the shoulder joint by internal fixation. Hence, the factures can recover faster with less complications. The stainless steel locking plate implantation can obtain good achievements in the repair of proximal humeral fractures of Neer 2, 3 as wel as Neer 4 in young patients with good bone quality.
