Objective:To systematically evaluate the dose-response relationships of resistance exercise intensity in frail elderly. Methods:A comprehensive search of randomized controlled trials on the dose-response relationships of resistance exercise for frail elderly in PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang Database. The documents that met the conditions were screened out, and after the data were extracted and the quality of the documents were evaluated, the RevMan 5.3 software was used for Meta analysis. Results:A total of 10 eligible randomized controlled trials were included in this study. The subjects of the study were 454 cases of frail and pre-frail elderly. After Meta analysis, there was a dose-response relationships between the training intensity of resistance exercise and the muscle strength, muscle endurance, and physical function of frail elderly. Both low-intensity and high-intensity resistance exercises can significantly increase the leg muscle strength of frail elderly people ( MD=4.58, 95% CI 3.34-5.82, P<0.05) and muscle endurance ( MD=12.27, 95% CI 6.54-17.99, P<0.05). Compared with low-intensity resistance exercise, high-intensity resistance exercise increased leg muscle strength of frail elderly people ( MD=7.97, 95% CI 0.85-15.09, P<0.05) and muscle endurance ( MD=6.94, 95% CI 5.21-8.66, P<0.05) showed more obvious advantages. The analysis of the results of the chair sitting test and the stairs climbing test shows that low-intensity resistance exercise has no obvious advantage in improving the physical function of frail elderly people, while high-intensity resistance exercise can significantly improve the physical function of frail elderly people ( MD=-5.8, 95% CI -7.3--4.29, P<0.05; MD=-1.20, 95% CI-2.17--0.23, P<0.05). Conclusions:Resistance exercise can significantly improve the muscle strength, muscle endurance and physical function of the frail elderly. High-intensity resistance exercise is more effective than low-intensity resistance exercise.

【Objective】 To explore the effects of insulin on the QT interval and induced arrhythmias of cardiomyocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-CMs). 【Methods】 Immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry were used to analyze the purity of hiPSC-CMs. Microelectrode array (MEA) was utilized to detect the electrophysiological changes including heart rate (HR), field potential duration (FPD, which is similar to QT interval in ECG), FPDc (FPD corrected by HR), conduction velocity (CV), and spike amplitude before and after insulin treatment. The effects of E4031 on QT interval prolongation and induced arrhythmias of hiPSC-CMs were evaluated before and after treatment with insulin. 【Results】 hiPSC-CMs highly expressed myocardial specific marker cTnT. The purity of hiPSC-CMs was 97.1%. After 5-day insulin treatment of hiPSC-CMs, HR increased by (11.9±3.3)%, FPD shortened by (22.7±2.8)%, FPDc shortened by (15.6±1.6)%, and spike amplitude increased by (39.1±7.9)% when compared with untreated group, but CV remained unchanged. 10 nmol/L of E4031 could prolong the FPDc of hiPSC-CMs by (37.8±9.0)%, and 30 nmol/L of E4031 could induce arrhythmias. After insulin treatment, 10 nmol/L of E4031 prolonged the FPDc of hiPSC-CMs by (21.8±3.1)% (compared with the untreated group, insulin decreased FPDc prolongation by E4031, 37.8%±9.0% vs. 21.8%±3.1%, P<0.05), while 30 nmol/L of E4031 did not induce arrhythmias. 【Conclusion】 Insulin can shorten the QT interval of hiPSC-CMs and significantly reduce the QT interval prolongation and the risk of arrhythmias induced by drugs.

Objective:
To understand the characteristics relating to the etiology and complications of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) based on data from the pilot National Sentinel Surveillance (NSS) program so as to explore the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of the NSS.
Methods:
Data were extracted from the NSS system, conducted in 11 provinces of China from November 2015 to October 2016. Characteristics regarding the etiology, complications of HFMD and factors related to the positive rates of HFMD specimens were analyzed under the logistic regression method by SPSS 20.0 software.
Results:
A total of 4 783 specimens were collected, including 3 390 from mild, 1 390 from severe and 3 from death cases. The overall positive rate was 81.43% (3 895/4 783). Other enteroviruses (non EV71/Cox A16 enteroviruses) appeared the major serotype (52.68%, 1 482/2 813) for mild infection of the disease while EV71 was for the severe cases (65.31%, 706/1 081). The serotype spectrum revealed by the pilot NSS was almost identical with the existing surveillance system. Other enteroviruses tended to infect younger children (

Xiyanping is used to treat infectious diseases with antibiotics in clinic. The aim of this study is to investigate the mechanism of Xiyanping through studying the effect of the combination of Xiyanping with Cefazolin on the chemotaxis and phagocytic function of peripheral blood neutrophils in mice. Ten healthy mice were in control group. Forty healthy mice in experimental group were infected with staphylococcus aureus, and were randomly divided further into four groups, i. e. model group, Xiyanping group, Cefazolin group and combination group (Xiyanping with Cefazolin). Mice in the control group and model group were given normal saline (NS) through abdomen while those in other groups were given Xiyanping, Cefazolin, and Xiyanping with Cefazolin, respectively. The chemotaxis of peripheral blood neutrophils was detected with the transwell method, and the phagocytic function of peripheral blood neutrophils was analyzed with flow cytometry (FCM). In the present study, there was no significance on the chemotactic index of peripheral blood neutrophils in all the groups (P > 0.05). The actual phagocytotic rate and index of peripheral blood neutrophils in the blank group, Xiyanping group, and the combination group were significantly higher than those of the model group and Cefazolin group (P < 0.05). However, those were not significant in the blank group, Xiyanping group, and the combination group (P > 0.05) or between the model group and Cefazolin group (P> 0.05). Our results suggested the combination of Xiyanping and Cefazolin could enhance the therapeutic effect by improving the phagocytic function of peripheral blood neutrophils.

BACKGROUNDFirst generation drug-eluting stents (DES) were associated with a high incidence of late stent thrombosis (ST), mainly due to delayed healing and re-endothelization by the durable polymer coating. This study sought to assess the safety and efficacy of the Nano polymer-free sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) in the treatment of patients with de novo coronary artery lesions.
METHODSThe Nano trial is the first randomized trial designed to compare the safety and efficacy of the Nano polymer-free SES and Partner durable-polymer SES (Lepu Medical Technology, Beijing, China) in the treatment of patients with de novo native coronary lesions. The primary endpoint was in-stent late lumen loss (LLL) at 9-month follow-up. The secondary endpoint was major adverse cardiac events (MACE), a composite of cardiac death, myocardial infarction or target lesion revascularization.
RESULTSA total of 291 patients (Nano group: n = 143, Partner group: n = 148) were enrolled in this trial from 19 Chinese centers. The Nano polymer-free SES was non-inferior to the Partner durable-polymer DES at the primary endpoint of 9 months (P < 0.001). The 9-month in-segment LLL of the polymer-free Nano SES was comparable to the Partner SES (0.34 ± 0.42) mm vs. (0.30 ± 0.48) mm, P = 0.21). The incidence of MACE in the Nano group were 7.6% compared to the Partner group of 5.9% (P = 0.75) at 2 years follow-up. The frequency of cardiac death and stent thrombosis was low for both Nano and Partner SES (0.8% vs. 0.7%, 0.8% vs. 1.5%, both P = 1.00).
CONCLUSIONSIn this multicenter randomized Nano trial, the Nano polymer-free SES showed similar safety and efficacy compared with the Partner SES in the treatment of patients with de novo coronary artery lesions. Trials in patients with complex lesions and longer term follow-up are necessary to confirm the clinical performance of this novel Nano polymer-free SES.
