Objective To gain insights into the biological characteristics of different populations of Culex tritaeniorhynchus within and around the Yellow Sea wetland from the perspective of the occurrence of resistance, we investigated the levels of resistance to deltamethrin and kdr gene mutation in the wetland and its peripheral areas. Methods Specimens were collected from Cx. tritaeniorhynchus populations at two monitoring sites in the Rare Bird National Nature Reserve and Tiaozi Ni Wetland Scenic Area, and also from two populations in Yancheng City and the Liuhe District of Nanjing, and the resistance of these mosquitoes to deltamethrin was determined using the CDC biotest bottle method. For each concentration of deltamethrin assessed, a random subset of exposed specimens was selected for amplification of the kdr gene fragment, followed by Sanger sequencing to identify and analyze resistance-associated mutations. Results The LC50 levels of deltamethrin among mosquitoes from the four populations in Luhe, Yancheng, the Rare Bird National Nature Reserve and the Tiaozi Ni Wetland Scenic Area were 2.048 5, 7.798 2, 3.473 3, and 17.695 5 mg/mL, respectively, with corresponding concentrations of deltamethrin ranging from 0.005 to 5.000,0.050 to 50.000,0.050 to 25.000 and 0.050 to 50.000 mg/mL, respectively. Furthermore, the ranges of the KT50 values were 11.76-107.43, 67.05-216.30,29.77-107.43 and 28.40-329.51 min; the 1-h knockdown rates were 34.58%-99.15%, 9.52%-43.80%, 55.09%-73.01%, and 10.09%-68.07%; and the 24-h mortality rates were 12.15%-67.52%,9.52%-79.56%,13.17%-82.21%, and 11.01%-78.99%, respectively. With respect to kdr gene mutation, we assayed a total of 63,70,59, and 57 mosquitoes for the four populations, for which we detected L1014F mutation frequencies of 14.29%, 35.00%, 20.34%, and 31.58%, respectively, with a majority of these mutations being heterozygous for resistance. In addition, five adult mosquitoes were identified has having synonymous mutations at site 1011[i. e. , AAT(asparagine)mutation to AAC(asparagine)]. Conclusions Our findings revealed the clear resistance of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus to deltamethrin in the Yancheng region of the Yellow Sea wetland, and the resistance phenotype and kdr frequency of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus in the wetland environment were comparable to those of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus in the wetland environment, thereby indicating that the resistance of different populations of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus was homogeneous under the pressure of different insecticide selection within and around the wetland. However, the underlying mechanisms need to be further studied.

Objective To explore the changes of durability properties of reusable surgical gowns when used in dry and wet conditions. Methods Reusable surgical gowns made of single-layer polyester fiber or 3-layer composite material were selected as test samples, and a Martindale abrasion and pilling tester was used as the basic test platform and modified to form fixtures suitable for the wet state environment. The reusable surgical gowns underwent abrasion experiments in wet and dry conditions to observe the changes in their fiber structure, and were subjected to water penetration resistance and swelling strength tests. Results Visually the reusable surgical gowns had few changes of the microscopic textile fiber structure in dry and wet conditions, and the gowns made of single-layer polyster fiber gained advantages over the outer layers of those of 3-layer composite material in abrasion resistance with the same friction cycles. In dry and wet conditions, the hydrostatic pressure values of the gowns of single-layer polyster fiber gradually decreased with the increase of the degree of abrasion, which were always lower than those of the gowns of 3-layer composite material;the swelling strength of the gowns of single-layer polyster fiber was always greater than that of the gowns of 3-layer composite material, which decreased with the deterioration of the wear more significantly than that of the gowns of 3-layer composite material. Conclusion The reusable surgical gowns made of single-layer polyester fiber or 3-layer composite material have few differences in durability and protective properties at the early stages of ablation in dry and wet conditions. The durability of the gowns decreases as the degree of wear increases, while the trend of the decrease is slowing down until the fabric breaks down and completely loses its barrier effect.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(6):28-33]

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the dynamic changes of glucocorticoid (GC) dose and the feasibility of GC discontinuation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients under the background of Chinese medicine (CM).
METHODS:
This multicenter retrospective cohort study included 1,196 RA patients enrolled in the China Rheumatoid Arthritis Registry of Patients with Chinese Medicine (CERTAIN) from September 1, 2019 to December 4, 2023, who initiated GC therapy. Participants were divided into the Western medicine (WM) and integrative medicine (IM, combination of CM and WM) groups based on medication regimen. Follow-up was performed at least every 3 months to assess dynamic changes in GC dose. Changes in GC dose were analyzed by generalized estimator equation, the probability of GC discontinuation was assessed using Kaplan-Meier curve, and predictors of GC discontinuation were analyzed by Cox regression. Patients with <12 months of follow-up were excluded for the sensitivity analysis.
RESULTS:
Among 1,196 patients (85.4% female; median age 56.4 years), 880 (73.6%) received IM. Over a median 12-month follow-up, 34.3% (410 cases) discontinued GC, with significantly higher rates in the IM group (40.8% vs. 16.1% in WM; P<0.05). GC dose declined progressively, with IM patients demonstrating faster reductions (median 3.75 mg vs. 5.00 mg in WM at 12 months; P<0.05). Multivariate Cox analysis identified age <60 years [P<0.001, hazard ratios (HR)=2.142, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.523-3.012], IM therapy (P=0.001, HR=2.175, 95% CI: 1.369-3.456), baseline GC dose ⩽7.5 mg (P=0.003, HR=1.637, 95% CI: 1.177-2.275), and absence of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs use (P=0.001, HR=2.546, 95% CI: 1.432-4.527) as significant predictors of GC discontinuation. Sensitivity analysis (545 cases) confirmed these findings.
CONCLUSIONS
RA patients receiving CM face difficulties in following guideline-recommended GC discontinuation protocols. IM can promote GC discontinuation and is a promising strategy to reduce GC dependency in RA management. (Trial registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, No. NCT05219214).

Objective To explore the trajectory and influencing factors of changes in physical ac-tivity(PA)in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)during chemotherapy. Methods A random sampling method was used to select NSCLC patients receiving chemotherapy in Suzhou Ninth People's Hospital as the research objects.Patients' materials were collected using a general informa-tion questionnaire, the M.D.Anderson Symptom Inventory(MDASI),the Family Adaptation,Part-nership,Growth,Affection,and Resolve index(APGAR),and the Self-Rated Approaches for Health Promotion Scale(SRAHP).The International Physical Activity Questionnaire-long-form(IPAQ-L)was used to assess patients' PA levels before the first chemotherapy course(T0),before the second course(T1),before the fourth course(T2),and before the sixth course(T3).The latent growth mixture model(LGMM)was used to identify the trajectory types of patients' physical activity metabolic equivalents(MET).Unordered multinomial Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of PA change trajectories in NSCLC patients during chemotherapy. Results A total of 213 NSCLC patients completed this study. The PA values of NSCLC patients at T0,T1,T2 and T3 were(1 091.29±285.76),(456.43±92.78),(467.61±94.72),and(934.35±199.18)MET-min/week,respectively,with significant between-group differences(F=645.601,P<0.001).After fitting with the LGMM,three latent categories were selected:the low PA maintenance group(ac-counting for 28.64%),the medium PA decline followed by late-stage recovery group(accounting for 51.64%),and the medium PA decline followed by mid-stage recovery group(accounting for 19.72%).Analysis showed that age, tumor stage, health behavior capacity, symptom severity and symptom distress, and family care were influencing factors for the PA trajectorycategories of NSCLC patients during chemotherapy(all P<0.05).Analysis of variable interaction effects found that health behavior capacity(OR=0.376,95%CI,0.192 to 0.853)had a strong protective effect on the medium PA decline followed by mid-stage recovery group(there was an interaction effect,P<0.05).Conclusion There is population heterogeneity in PA among NSCLC patients during chemo-therapy.Medical staffs should develop targeted measures based on the population characteristics and influencing factors of patients' PA trajectories to improve their PA levels.
7.Occupational influences on dietary quality among postpartum women:a cross-sectional study in Beijing,China
Global Health Journal 2025;9(2):94-103
Objective:Postpartum nutrition plays a critical role in maternal recovery and long-term health. However, the nutritional status of working mothers in the postpartum period remains understudied. This study aimed to assess the dietary quality of postpartum women in urban Beijing, identify occupational-related factors influencing their diet, and explore potential interventions to improve maternal nutrition during the postpartum period. Methods:In this cross-sectional analysis,554 women one year after delivery were recruited from ten community health centers.Sociodemographic, occupational and postpartum care variables were collected via questionnaire.Dietary intake over the preceding year was assessed using a food frequency questionnaire. The modified dietary balance index for postpartum women were used for dietary quality assessment. Results:The study revealed severe dietary imbalances among postpartum women, characterized by excessive consumption of cereals, eggs, and meats, while their intake of vegetables, fruits, and dairy products was inade-quate.According to dietary balance index for postpartum women,66.25%of mothers showed varying degrees of excessive intake.45.31%of mothers experienced varying levels of insufficient intake, with only 19.86%of participants having a relatively balanced diet.Occupational differences were observed, with women in the commercial employment group showing higher levels of excessive food intake. The analysis of influencing fac-tors showed that family monthly income, maternity leave, and postpartum care significantly affected the dietary quality. Conclusions:Postpartum women in Beijing experience widespread dietary imbalances, with both excesses and deficiencies.Occupational context and related factors significantly shape diet quality. These findings highlight the need for targeted nutritional interventions tailored to the specific challenges of different occupational groups.

OBJECTIVE:
To reveal the effects and potential mechanisms by which synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2A (SV2A) influences the distribution of amyloid precursor protein (APP) in the trans-Golgi network (TGN), endolysosomal system, and cell membranes and to reveal the effects of SV2A on APP amyloid degradation.
METHODS:
Colocalization analysis of APP with specific tagged proteins in the TGN, ensolysosomal system, and cell membrane was performed to explore the effects of SV2A on the intracellular transport of APP. APP, β-site amyloid precursor protein cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1) expressions, and APP cleavage products levels were investigated to observe the effects of SV2A on APP amyloidogenic processing.
RESULTS:
APP localization was reduced in the TGN, early endosomes, late endosomes, and lysosomes, whereas it was increased in the recycling endosomes and cell membrane of SV2A-overexpressed neurons. Moreover, Arl5b (ADP-ribosylation factor 5b), a protein responsible for transporting APP from the TGN to early endosomes, was upregulated by SV2A. SV2A overexpression also decreased APP transport from the cell membrane to early endosomes by downregulating APP endocytosis. In addition, products of APP amyloid degradation, including sAPPβ, Aβ 1-42, and Aβ 1-40, were decreased in SV2A-overexpressed cells.
CONCLUSION
These results demonstrated that SV2A promotes APP transport from the TGN to early endosomes by upregulating Arl5b and promoting APP transport from early endosomes to recycling endosomes-cell membrane pathway, which slows APP amyloid degradation.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the association between ABO blood types and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) risk.
METHODS:
A prospective birth cohort study was conducted. ABO blood types were determined using the slide method. GDM diagnosis was based on a 75-g, 2-h oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) according to the criteria of the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups. Logistic regression was applied to calculate the odds ratios ( ORs) and 95% confidence intervals ( CIs) between ABO blood types and GDM risk.
RESULTS:
A total of 30,740 pregnant women with a mean age of 31.81 years were enrolled in this study. The ABO blood types distribution was: type O (30.99%), type A (26.58%), type B (32.20%), and type AB (10.23%). GDM was identified in 14.44% of participants. Using blood type O as a reference, GDM risk was not significantly higher for types A ( OR = 1.05) or B ( OR = 1.04). However, women with type AB had a 19% increased risk of GDM ( OR = 1.19, 95% CI = 1.05-1.34; P < 0.05), even after adjusting for various factors. This increased risk for type AB was consistent across subgroup and sensitivity analyses.
CONCLUSION
The ABO blood types may influence GDM risk, with type AB associated with a higher risk. Incorporating it-either as a single risk factor or in combination with other known factors-could help identify individuals at risk for GDM before or during early pregnancy.

Objective:To identify the relevant factors for the first-course remission of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and to develop a predictive model as well as assess its predictive capability. Methods:Clinical data of 749 patients newly diagnosed with AML admitted to the Department of Hematology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University, School of Medicine from January 1, 2019, to April 30, 2023, were collected and randomly divided into training and validation sets. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine variables associated with complete remission in the first course of induction therapy, and a predictive model was established based on these variables. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of the predictive model was plotted, and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated. Results:The indicators predicting the first remission course included peripheral blood white blood cell count during onset, CBF::MYH11 fusion gene, CEBPA bZIP region mutation, myelodysplastic syndrome-related gene mutation, and induction chemotherapy regimen selection as independent factors for the first remission course. The model’s area under the training and validation curves was 0.738 (95% CI: 0.696-0.780) and 0.726 (95% CI: 0.650-0.801), respectively. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test results yielded P-values of 0.993 and 0.335, respectively. Conclusion:In this study, the developed model demonstrates a strong predictive capability for the efficacy of the first course of patients with AML, providing valuable guidance to clinicians in assessing patient prognosis and selecting appropriate treatment strategies.
