This study assessed the role and mechanism of the recombinant Bacillus Calmette-Gue?rin vaccine(rBCG)with c-di-AMP adjuvant in regulating metabolism and immunity in epididymal white adipose(eWAT)in mice.Male C57BL/6 mice were intravenously immunized with BCG and rBCG,and their body weights were monitored.eWAT was isolated from the mice, and the stromal vascular fractions(SVFs)cell number was counted with a hemocytometer.Sections of mouse adipose tissue were prepared, and the size, number, and morphology of eWAT adipocytes and crown-like structure(CLS)formation were compared under a microscope after HE staining. The transcription levels of lipid metabolism-associated factors, cytokines and aging-associated genes in each group were determined with qRT-PCR.The body weights of mice gradually increased after immunization with BCG and rBCG.The proportions of eWAT increased, and the SVFs cell number decreased,in rBCG immunized mice.HE staining indicated that BCG immunization promoted hyperplasia, whereas rBCG immunization promoted hypertrophy of eWAT adipocytes;moreover, both BCG and rBCG immunization induced CLS formation in eWAT.The qRT-PCR results indicated that rBCG immunization inhibited the expression of genes associated with lipolysis and energy expenditure in eWAT.BCG immunization had little effect on cytokine transcription, whereas rBCG significantly induced the transcription of IFN-γ and IL-1Ra,and inhibited that of IL-15 and IL-2,but did not induce the expression of aging-associated genes. Thus,rBCG immunization induced eWAT adipocyte hypertrophy, which was associated with the inhibition of eWAT lipolysis and the regulation of cytokine expression.

Chinese Journal of Interventional Cardiology 2025;33(11):652-656
Catheter-based pulsed field ablation(PFA)for atrial fibrillation ablation has been widely adopted worldwide in recent years, accumulating substantial evidence for its efficacy and safety. However, several adverse events associated with this technology have also been observed, such as PFA-related coronary artery spasm, hemolysis, acute renal injury, and symptomatic or asymptomatic cerebrovascular events. This review summarizes the latest basic and clinical research advances in PFA over the past two years, focusing on biophysical aspects including the field intensity of PFA,the thermal effects of PFA,contact force, and the number of applications. We discuss whether PFA demonstrates tissue selectivity, the mechanisms of hemolysis and microbubble formation,as well as the lesion morphology and impact factors to lesion depth. This review aims to provide clinicians with a more in-depth understanding of PFA technology and biphasic to optimize clinical application.

Aim To investigate the effect of tetrameth-ylpyrazine(TMP)on neuroinflammation after cerebral ischemia and hypoxia via mannose-binding lectin(MBL).Methods Patients diagnosed with ischaemic stroke at Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital were in-cluded in the study, and their clinicopathological data,as well as blood and urine samples, were collected with the consent of the patients and their families.Using these biological samples, differential proteins and tar-gets were identified by proteomic analysis and subse-quently verified with animal experiments. The mice were divided into the sham,dMCAO,and TMP(10,20,40 mg·kg-1)treatment groups. After seven days of drug administration, the modified neurological sever-ity score(mNSS)was used to assess the neurological function.TTC staining was used to detect the volume of cerebral infarction.Motor function was evaluated be-haviourally,and ELISA was used to detect MASP1,sC5b-9,TNF-α,IL-6,and IL-1β.Western blot was used to determine the expression of relevant proteins, such as MBL2,MASP2,and C3.Results Compared with the sham group, the dMCAO group exhibited in-creased neurological impairment, which was signifi-cantly ameliorated by TMP treatment. The expression levels of MBL2,C3 and MASP2 were elevated in the dMCAO group and were reduced following TMP treat-ment.Additionally,the dMCAO group showed elevat-ed expression of inflammatory factors IL-1 β,IL-6 and TNF-α,which were then suppressed by TMP treat-ment.Conclusion TMP inhibits the inflammatory re-sponse after ischemia and hypoxia by regulating MBL,thus attenuating brain injury.

The feasibility for the development of road-rail medical vehicles was discussed. The gap between China's ground medical evacuation system and medical evacuation requirements was analyzed, and the limitations of the existing mobile medical units in China were introduced. The key points for developing road-rail medical vehicles were discussed. The road-rail medical vehicle would be an ideal tool for casualty treatment and rapid evacuation at war time and peace time, which could be a future development direction of the road-rail vehicle and medical train.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(10):84-90]

Ultrasonography 2025;44(2):112-123
Purpose:
The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of an intelligent handheld ultrasound (US) device for assisting non-expert general practitioners (GPs) in detecting carotid plaques (CPs) in community populations.
Methods:
This prospective parallel controlled trial recruited 111 consecutive community residents. All of them underwent examinations by non-expert GPs and specialist doctors using handheld US devices (setting A, setting B, and setting C). The results of setting C with specialist doctors were considered the gold standard. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) and the features of CPs were measured and recorded. The diagnostic performance of GPs in distinguishing CPs was evaluated using a receiver operating characteristic curve. Inter-observer agreement was compared using the intragroup correlation coefficient (ICC). Questionnaires were completed to evaluate clinical benefits.
Results:
Among the 111 community residents, 80, 96, and 112 CPs were detected in settings A, B, and C, respectively. Setting B exhibited better diagnostic performance than setting A for detecting CPs (area under the curve, 0.856 vs. 0.749; P<0.01). Setting B had better consistency with setting C than setting A in CIMT measurement and the assessment of CPs (ICC, 0.731 to 0.923). Moreover, measurements in setting B required less time than the other two settings (44.59 seconds vs. 108.87 seconds vs. 126.13 seconds, both P<0.01).
Conclusion
Using an intelligent handheld US device, GPs can perform CP screening and achieve a diagnostic capability comparable to that of specialist doctors.
