1.Assessment of health exposure risks from preservatives in beverages sold near primary schools in Anshun

Objective:
To quantitatively assess the health risk of preservatives from beverages around primary schools in Anshun City, and to provide scientific basis for precise food safety supervision.
Methods:
From December 2023 to July 2024, 602 beverage samples were randomly collected from within 100 meters of 19 primary schools in Anshun City. The content of benzoic acid, sorbic acid, and dehydroacetic acid was detected according to GB 5009 series standards. Combined with children s physiological parameters (body weight 30 kg, daily intake 0.15 L), the Hazard Quotient (HQ) and Hazard Index (HI) models were used to evaluate health risks.
Results:
The total detection rate of preservatives from beverages around primary schools was 63.0%, and the total over limit rate was 9.0%. The detection rate of preservatives in flavored beverages was the highest (72.6%), and the highest over limit rate of preservatives in special purpose beverages was the highest (17.2%). The single preservative HQ (benzoic acid up to 0.47 ) and mixed HI (up to 0.55) of all samples were below 1(safety threshold). However, the HQ value of benzoic acid in flavored beverages (0.47) was 2.9 times that of sorbic acid (0.16), contributing significantly to health risk. Sensitivity analysis showed that if the daily consumption increased to 0.3 L, the HI value of flavored beverages would rise to 1.11, exceeding the safety threshold. Enterprise scale analysis showed that the exceedance rate of special purpose beverages in large enterprises reached 30.0%, while micro enterprises, accounting for a dominant market share (52.2%), constituted the main source of children s daily exposure to their products.
Conclusions
The overall health risk of perservatives in beverages sold near primary schools in Anshun City is controllable, but there is a noticeable risk of gradient. The risk of children’s exposure to preservatives through beverage consumption should not be ignored.
2.Physical activity and its associations with depressive and anxiety symptoms and their co-existence among secondary vocational school students

Objective:
To examine the characteristics of physical activity among secondary vocational school students and its associations with depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and their co-existence, so as to provide evidence for promoting their mental health.
Methods:
From September to December 2024, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 5 141 secondary vocational school students using convenience sampling method across 16 secondary vocational schools in 8 provinces/municipalities, including Fujian, Chongqing, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Jiangxi, Shanghai and Zhejiang. A self designed questionnaire, International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7 were used to assess basic information, physical activity characteristics, and depressive and anxiety symptoms. Chi-square test and Logistic regression model were used to analyze the associations of physical activity characteristics with depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and their co-existence.
Results:
Among secondary vocational school students, 22.2% had depressive symptoms, 12.2% had anxiety symptoms, and 10.5% had both conditions. After adjustment for confounding factors such as sex, grade, and family structure, Logistic regression analyses showed that a high physical activity level, meeting the recommendation for daily moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and a concentrated physical activity pattern were associated with lower odds of depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and their co-existence ( OR =0.70-0.81, all P <0.05). Regular weekly MVPA and a regular physical activity pattern were associated only with lower odds of depressive symptoms ( OR =0.79, 0.70, both P <0.05). Sex stratified analyses showed that meeting the recommendation for daily MVPA and a concentrated physical activity pattern were associated with lower odds of depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and their co-existence among boys ( OR =0.60-0.71); a high physical activity level, regular weekly MVPA, and a regular physical activity pattern were associated with lower odds of depressive symptoms among boys ( OR =0.65-0.78)(all P <0.05). Meanwhile, a high physical activity level, meeting the recommendation for daily MVPA, regular weekly MVPA, and regular and concentrated physical activity patterns were associated with lower odds of depressive symptoms in female students ( OR =0.72-0.79) (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
Physical activity characteristics are associated with depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms, and their co-existence among secondary vocational school students. Schools should optimize physical activity promotion strategies according to sex specific characteristics to reduce the occurrence of depressive and anxiety symptoms among secondary vocational school students.
3.Nerve growth factor concentration in follicular fluid associated with abnormal menstrual cycle in patients with PCOS

Objective:To investigate the relationship between nerve growth factor (NGF) concentration in follicular fluid and abnormal menstrual cycle in infertile patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 100 infertile patients with PCOS who underwent in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) at Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Peking University Third Hospital from March 2017 to June 2019. For comparison, the 100 patients with PCOS were divided into low NGF group ( n=50) and high NGF group ( n=50) based on the median NGF concentration (1 644.03 ng/L) in follicular fluid. Baseline characteristics, menstrual status and clinical outcomes of assisted reproductive technology were compared. We performed multiple linear regression analysis to examine the effect of NGF in follicular fluid on menstrual cycle length for multivariate analysis. Results:1) PCOS patients in the low NGF group had significantly higher body mass index [(27.24±5.17) kg/m 2] and white blood cell count [7.31(5.99, 8.43)×10 9/L ] than those in the high NGF group [(25.03±4.46) kg/m 2, P=0.024; 5.95(5.08,7.01)×10 9/L, P=0.001], while high-density lipoprotein cholesterol [1.15 (0.98, 1.36) mmol/L] and basic follicle-stimulating hormone level [6.51 (5.10,7.95) U/L] in the low NGF group were significantly lower than those in the high NGF group [1.36 (1.09,1.52) mmol/L, P=0.039;6.51 (5.10,7.95)U/L, P=0.040]. 2) PCOS patients in the low NGF group had significantly higher menstrual cycle length [60.00 (35.00, 180.00) d] than the high NGF group [32.50 (27.00,67.50) d, P=0.001]. 3) Multiple linear regression analysis revealed that after adjustment for body mass index, age, infertility duration, infertility type, and glucose and lipid metabolic parameters, the NGF concentration in the follicular fluid independently and negatively correlated with menstrual cycle length ( P<0.05). 4) The NGF concentration in follicular fluid was not correlated with assisted reproductive outcomes. Conclusion:NGF concentration in follicular fluid is closely related to the degree of menstrual cycle abnormalities in patients with PCOS.
4.Current status and future perspectives of antibody-drug conjugates in breast cancer therapy

Antibody-drug conjugates(ADCs)represent a breakthrough in precision therapy for breast cancer,offering a unique targeted drug delivery mechanism that enhances tumor selectivity while reducing the nonspecific toxicity associated with conventional chemotherapy.In recent years,the clinical applications of ADCs in breast cancer have expanded significantly,particularly in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2)-positive and HER2-low breast cancer,reshaping the therapeutic landscape.Trastuzumab emtanserin(T-DM1)was the first ADC drug to replace lapatinib plus capecitabine as a second-line treatment for HER2-positive breast cancer,while trastuzumab deruxtecan(T-DXd)demonstrated remarkable efficacy in HER2-low breast cancer in the DESTINY-Breast04 trial,becoming the first approved ADC for this patient subgroup.Furthermore,trophoblast cell surface antigen 2(Trop-2)-targeting ADCs,such as sacituzumab govitecan(SG),have shown promising clinical benefits in patients with triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)and hormone receptor-positive/HER2-negative breast cancer.Advances in next-generation ADC technologies,including improvements in linker stability,drug-to-antibody ratio(DAR)optimization,and enhanced bystander effects,have further improved the therapeutic efficacy and safety profile of these agents,reinforcing their role in the precision treatment of breast cancer.Although ADCs have demonstrated substantial clinical benefits,they are associated with target-and payload-related toxicities.However,with ongoing advancements in management strategies,their safety profile has been significantly improved.HER2-targeting ADCs present specific adverse events,including interstitial lung disease(ILD)associated with T-DXd,thrombocytopenia,and liver function abnormalities observed with T-DM1,while Trop-2-targeting ADCs such as SG are linked to hematologic toxicity and gastrointestinal side effects.Notably,structural optimizations in next-generation ADCs have led to significant improvements in their safety profile.Early monitoring,individualized dose modifications,and supportive care measures have been shown to effectively reduce the incidence of severe adverse events.Clinical studies indicate that toxicity management strategies for ADCs have matured,with most adverse effects being effectively controlled through optimized treatment regimens and adjunctive supportive care.Thus,in clinical practice,it is essential to consider patient-specific factors,prior treatment history,and comorbidities to devise an optimal ADC treatment strategy that maximizes both efficacy and safety.As ADC technology continues to evolve,breast cancer treatment is expected to become increasingly precise.The development of novel HER2-Trop-2 bispecific ADCs offers new therapeutic options for patients with HER2-low and HER2-negative breast cancer.Additionally,studies investigating the combination of T-DXd with immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs),CDK4/6 inhibitors,and poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase(PARP)inhibitors have demonstrated synergistic antitumor effects,further expanding the prospects for precision medicine in breast cancer.This review systematically summarized the latest advancements in ADCs for breast cancer,with a focus on the clinical applications,safety management strategies,and future development of HER2-and Trop-2-targeting ADCs,aiming to provide valuable insights for the future of precision breast cancer treatment.
5.Clinical and genetic analysis of RARS2-related pontocerebellar hypoplasia

Objective:To analyze the clinical characteristics and genotypic changes of six children with RARS2 gene variants. Methods:The clinical data of 6 children with RARS2 gene variants diagnosed at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from January 2017 to August 2024 were collected. Genetic variants were detected using trio-whole exome sequencing. Genomic DNA was extracted from samples and subjected to high-throughput sequencing. Variants were detected and analyzed using relevant databases and software. Pathogenic variants were validated by Sanger sequencing. The protein structure encoded by a previously unreported variant was predicted using a SWISS-MODEL online server. This study was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University (Ethics No.: 2024-373-01). Results:Among the six children, four were males and two were females, with the most recent follow-up age ranging from 1-year-and-1-month to 7 years old. The age of onset was under 1 year in all cases. All six children exhibited seizures, including infantile spasms in three, spasms and tonic spasms in one, and focal seizures in two. One child became seizure-free for 4 ~ 5 years following Valproic acid combined with topiramate and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) pulse therapy, but subsequently experienced a relapse. Another child has remained seizure-free for nearly one year with oral sodium valproate, levetiracetam, and a " cocktail" therapy. Seizures were not controlled in the remaining four children. Pontocerebellar hypoplasia was observed on neuroimaging in two children. All six patients exhibited severe psychomotor retardation. A total of 10 RARS2 gene variants were identified, three of which were previously unreported. Conclusion:The predominant clinical features of Pontocerebellar hypoplasia associated with RARS2 gene variants include infantile onset, severe psychomotor retardation or regression, drug-resistant epilepsy, and feeding difficulties. The characteristic neuroimaging finding is pontocerebellar hypoplasia. However, its appearance may vary widely with time. The majority of affected children have a poor prognosis.

8.Application of 3D printing technology in traumatic fractures

BACKGROUND:3D printing technology can design and construct models,surgical guides and personalized implants or fixture according to the actual condition and treatment demand of patients,which has great application prospects in the repair of traumatic fractures.OBJECTIVE:To review the application of 3D printing technology in traumatic fractures.METHODS:Web of Science,PubMed and CNKI databases were searched for relevant literature on the application of 3D printing technology in the field of trauma orthopedics published from 2020 to 2024.Chinese and English search terms were"traumatic fracture,3D printing technology,digital model,surgical guide."Finally,60 articles were included for analysis.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)Traumatic fracture is a fracture phenomenon with interruption of bones continuity and destruction of integrity caused by various injurious factors.Improving reduction and healing effects with reliable schemes has become a hot issue that needs to be handled urgently in orthopedics related field.(2)3D printing technology is a three-dimensional entity technology to meet demands based on digital model data,in which adhesive forming materials(powdered metal or polymer),stereolithography,deposition modeling,and optical polymer spray are used,and it is widely used in the field of digital orthopedic biomedicine.(3)3D printing technology has played significant advantages in disease diagnosis,preoperative planning,reconstructing fracture 3D model,customizing orthopedic implants,customizing fixation braces and prosthetics,fabrication of surgical guide and repair of bone defects,which can design and construct models,surgical guides,and personalized implants or fixture according to the actual conditions and treatment demands of patients.It can provide new ideas for the treatment of traumatic fractures.
9.Research advances in mesenchymal stem cells and their exosomes in treatment of premature ovarian insufficiency

Premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)is a complex endocrine disorder that significantly affects the physiological and repro-ductive functions of women,and it has become one of the main causes of infertility in women of childbearing age.The clinical features of POI include amenorrhea or oligomenorrhea,low estrogen or estrogen deficiency,and an increase in the level of gonadotropin.The in-cidence rate of POI tends to increase,yet its etiology and pathogenesis remain unclear.At present,the conventional treatment methods for POI have limited efficacy in fundamentally improving ovarian function or addressing the fertility issue.With the development of re-generative medicine,mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have become one of the research hotspots in POI therapy,and their exosomes have attracted wide attention as a promising"cell-free therapy".A number of animal experimental studies have shown that MSCs and their exosomes can exert a therapeutic effect on POI by affecting granulosa cell proliferation and apoptosis,promoting ovarian angiogen-esis,reducing oxidative stress and fibrosis,enhancing follicular development,and regulating immunity.In addition,related clinical studies have also made some progress.This article reviews the mechanisms and clinical effect of MSCs and their exosomes in the treatment of POI,in order to provide a reference for further research and bench-to-bedside translation of POI therapies.
10.A qualitative study on economic toxicity perceptions and experiences of caregivers of colorectal cancer patients from the perspective of social ecological systems theory

Objective To explore the economic toxicity perceptions and experiences of caregivers of colorectal cancer patients from the perspective of social ecological systems theory.Methods Using purposive sampling,18 caregivers of colorectal cancer patients hospitalized in the gastrointestinal sur-gery and oncology departments of a tertiary grade A hospital in Yangzhou were selected for semi-struc-tured interviews.The Colaizzi 7-step analysis method was employed to organize and analyze the data.Results Three main themes and nine sub-themes were extracted regarding the economic toxicity expe-riences and needs of caregivers of colorectal cancer patients.Microsystem included multiple negative experiences,impacted individual health,and difficulties in surrogate decision-making;mesosystem in-cluded heavy family financial burden,altered family lifestyle,and tense family atmosphere;macrosys-tem included needs for the scope and intensity of medical insurance reimbursement,needs for medical resources and services,and a desire for social support.Conclusion The ecological system of caregiv-ers of colorectal cancer patients is not optimistic,and is generally affected by economic toxicity.Inter-vention strategies can be sought from multiple aspects,including alleviating the negative experiences of caregivers,strengthening social support,and paying attention to the needs of caregivers,aiming to re-duce the level of economic toxicity among caregivers of colorectal cancer patients.
