Recent research progress into the use of Chinese medicine has demonstrated good therapeutic effects for increasing numbers of Chinese medicines for immune system diseases.Atopic dermatitis(AD)is an inflammatory disease characterized by type 2 immunity,and research into its pathogenesis and therapeutic immunopharmaceuticals has result ed in various different types of animal models.This review summarizes the existing animal models of AD and their immune-related characteristics,with the aim of providing appropriate references for the selection of future research models related to AD.

Objective:To study the correlations of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)with arte-riovenous fistula(AVF)stenosis in hemodialysis(HD)patients.Methods:Data were collected from 625 patients who underwent arterio-venous fistula hemodialysis at the Department of Nephrology,Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College between January 2021 and June 2022.Of these,395 eligible patients with complete information were selected as subjects of study.The 245 patients with AVF stenosis were designated as group 1 and the 150 patients with-out AVF stenosis were designated as group 2.The routine biochemi-cal parameters and complete blood count were recorded for all pa-tients.Results:①Compared with patients in group 2,those in group 1 showed significantly higher NLR(5.07(4.00,6.66)vs.3.46(2.63,4.15),P<0.001),PLR(169.52(127.56,227.11)vs.125.66(89.31,165.31),P<0.001),and C-reactive protein(Hs-CRP)(1.90(0.80,2.99)vs.0.82(0.42,1.27),P<0.001).②Multivariate logistic regression analysis,which was corrected for age,sex,body mass index,AVF anastomosis,puncture method,and diabetes,showed that NLR(OR=2.195,95%CI=1.674～2.878,P<0.001),PLR(OR=1.008,95%CI=1.002～1.012,P=0.007),and Hs-CRP(OR=2.170,95%CI=1.607～2.751,P<0.001)were independent risk factors for AVF ste-nosis in HD patients.③Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis showed that the area under the NLR curve(0.799,95%CI=0.756～0.838,P<0.001),PLR(0.694,95%CI=0.646～0.740,P<0.001),and Hs-CRP(0.717,95%CI=0.670～0.761,P<0.001)could be used to predict AVF stenosis.Their optimal critical values for prediction were 4.08,122.49,and 1.62,respectively.Their combina-tion showed improved prediction effect(AUC 0.870,95%CI=0.833～0.901,P<0.001),high sensitivity(79.18%),and high specificity(81.33%).Conclusion:NLR,PLR,and Hs-CRP were independent risk factors and predictors of AVF stenosis,and their combination has higher predictive value.

From June to September 2018, 12 908 participants were recruited from 16 districts of Beijing using the stratified sampling method combined with the typical sampling method. Questionnaires were conducted to collect basic information, work situations, tobacco exposure in public places, and smoking cessation. The Chi-square test was used to compare the differences in current smoking rates, smoking cessation rates and second-hand smoke exposure rates among participants with different characteristics. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the related factors of tobacco use.Results:The present smoking rate of the occupational population in Beijing was 18.0% (95% CI: 17.3%-18.7%), and the passive smoking exposure rate of non-smokers was 61.0% (95% CI: 60.1%-61.9%). The smoking cessation rate among the working population was 22.2% (95% CI: 20.7%-23.7%), and the proportion of current smokers with the intention to quit was 63.9% (1 485/2 325). The present smoking rate of employees of different genders, ages, education levels and occupational nature showed statistically significant differences ( P<0.05). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that in males, compared with the age group of 16-29 years old, the risk of smoking increased in the age groups of 30-39 years old, 40-49 years old and over 50 years old [ OR (95% CI) values were 1.49 (1.27-1.74), 1.34 (1.13-1.59) and 1.30 (1.06-1.59)]. Compared with those with junior high school or lower education, participants with high school/vocational/college education group had a higher risk of smoking ( OR=1.38, 95% CI: 1.13-1.69), while those with master′s degree or above had a lower risk of smoking ( OR=0.30, 95% CI: 0.22-0.42). The physical workers ( OR=1.28, 95% CI: 1.11-1.47) had a higher risk of smoking than the mental workers. Conclusion:The current smoking rate among the occupational population in Beijing is lower than the national level during the same period, but the exposure rate to second-hand smoke is relatively high. Age, educational level, job nature and gender are related factors of smoking.

A convenience sampling method was employed to recruit 445 food service employees from 67 Chinese restaurants across all 16 administrative districts of Beijing City from August to December in 2022. A questionnaire survey was conducted to assess their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding salt reduction and hypertension. The results revealed that awareness was highest for the statement "Hypertensive patients should reduce salt intake" (88.3%), while awareness of "China′s diagnostic criteria for hypertension" was the lowest (23.8%). Positive attitude endorsement rates were 96.0% for willingness to reduce salt, 95.3% for perceived self-efficacy in salt reduction, and 93.0% for agreement with a low-salt diet. Regarding behaviors, the rates of actively reducing salt when ordering takeout or dining out, using low-sodium salt, and using salt-reducing spoons were 73.7%, 45.4%, and 55.5%, respectively. The overall compliance rate for salt-reduction related behaviors was 73.9%. Multivariable logistic regression analysis demonstrated that: compared to the 18-29 age group, employees aged 30-39 ( OR=2.19, 95% CI: 1.16-4.14), 40-49 ( OR=3.36, 95% CI: 1.52-7.42), and 50-59 ( OR=3.25, 95% CI: 1.25-8.50) were significantly more likely to achieve compliance with salt-reduction behaviors; chefs were significantly more likely to achieve behavioral compliance compared to managerial staff ( OR=2.08, 95% CI: 1.08-3.98); employees in catering with adequate knowledge about salt reduction and hypertension were significantly more likely to exhibit behavioral compliance compared to those with inadequate knowledge ( OR=3.32, 95% CI: 1.83-5.92); employees in catering with positive attitudes towards salt reduction were significantly more likely to achieve behavioral compliance compared to those with negative attitudes ( OR=5.81, 95% CI: 2.05-16.43). In conclusion, food service employees in Beijing exhibit insufficient knowledge about salt intake and hypertension. While they demonstrate strong willingness to reduce salt, this does not consistently translate into action. Compliance with salt-reduction behaviors is influenced by age, education level, and job position. There is an urgent need to strengthen the dissemination of knowledge regarding high salt intake and hypertension and to implement personalized interventions targeting salt-reduction behaviors and skills.

Myasthenia gravis(MG)is an autoimmune disease characterized primarily by skeletal muscle weakness and,in severe cases,respiratory involvement.Western medical treatment predominantly relies on immunosuppressants,but long-term administration often leads to notable side effects.In contrast,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)offers the advantage of multi-target interventions.However,the pathogenesis of MG has not been fully elucidated,and the establishment of animal models that accurately reflect the clinical characteristics of both Chinese and Western medicine is essential for mechanism research and new drug development.This paper systematically reviews the etiology and pathogenesis,diagnostic criteria,and progress of animal model research for MG from both Chinese and Western medicine perspectives.In Western medicine,the pathogenesis of MG is closely related to genetic susceptibility,environmental factors,and autoantibody-mediated postsynaptic membrane damage.In TCM,MG is classified under the category of"flaccidity syndrome",attributed to congenital deficiencies and acquired malnourishment.Western diagnostic criteria involve a combination of clinical symptoms,fatigue testing,serum antibody assays,and electrophysiological evaluation.In contrast,TCM diagnosis emphasizes the integration of primary and secondary symptoms with tongue and pulse pattern differentiation.Currently available animal models mainly include experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis(EAMG)and passive transfer myasthenia gravis(PTMG).The Toredo acetylcholine receptor(AChR)induced EAMG model aligns well with Western diagnostic criteria,but poorly matches secondary symptoms in TCM.The synthetic AChR peptide model is widely used,but shows low conformity with TCM syndromes.Models induced by muscle-specific tyrosine kinase(MuSK),low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4(LRP4),and transgenic models demonstrate high innovation but exhibit low clinical conformity.Evaluation of these models requires integration of behavioral,electrophysiological,and immunological indicators.However,a systematic framework for modelling TCM syndromes is still lacking.Future research should integrate TCM-based etiological modelling methods with the Western pathological mechanisms to construct disease-syndrome combination models.Additionally,it is crucial to establish a TCM syndrome evaluation system based on"validation by prescription",as well as to improve the scientific rigor and practicality of animal models by the incorporation of emerging technologies.This review provides a theoretical foundation for optimizing MG animal model design,advancing the research on the combination of Chinese and Western medicine,and supporting efficacy assessment and mechanism exploration of Chinese herbal prescriptions.

Objective:To explore the predictive value of lipoproteins on the progression of critically ill patients to chronic critical illness (CCI).Methods:A retrospective cohort study was conducted to analyze clinical data of patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022. The levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and apolipoproteins (ApoA-Ⅰ, ApoB) at 1, 3, 7, 14 and 21 days after admission to ICU were collected. The progression to CCI was recorded. CCI was defined as the length of ICU stay ≥14 days with sustained organ dysfunction [sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score ≥2]. Differences in lipoprotein levels between the patients with and without CCI were compared. Multivariate Logistic regression was used to analyze risk factors for critically ill patients progressing to CCI. Receiver operator characteristic curve (ROC curve) was drawn to evaluate the predictive value of lipoproteins on critically ill patients progressing to CCI.Results:A total of 200 patients were enrolled in the final analysis. 137 patients (68.5%) progressed to CCI, and 63 patients (31.5%) did not. The lipoprotein indicators in the CCI group showed a decrease after the acute phase, while the lipoprotein indicators in the non-CCI group showed an increase. The levels of HDL, LDL, ApoA-Ⅰ, and ApoB at various time points in the CCI group were significantly lower than those in the non-CCI group. HDL at 7 days in the CCI group was significantly lower than that in the non-CCI group [mmol/L: 0.44 (0.31, 0.61) vs. 0.67 (0.49, 0.75), P < 0.01]. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that 7-day HDL was an independent risk factor for critically ill patients progressing to CCI [odds ratio ( OR) = 0.033, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) was 0.004-0.282, P = 0.002]. ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 7-day HDL for predicting critically ill patients progressing to CCI was 0.702, with a 95% CI of 0.625-0.779, P < 0.001. When the optimal cut-off value was 0.59 mmol/L, the sensitivity was 69.8%, and the specificity was 72.4%. Conclusions:The low level of lipoproteins is closely related to the progression of critically ill patients, and 7-day HDL has a certain predictive value for critically ill patients progressing to CCI. Continuously observation of the change trend of lipoprotein level is helpful to judge the progression of CCI in critically ill patients.
