Sangjuyin, as a pungent and cooling agent with precise therapeutic effect, is a classic pungent formula for cooling relief of the epidermis, which is highly respected by medical practitioners. This formula is from the Wenbing Tiaobian written by WU Jutong in the Qing dynasty, on the basis of which subsequent medical practitioners have made additions and subtractions to apply it. The authors used the bibliometric method to systematically organize the medical books from the Qing dynasty and the Republic of China and modern literature to analyze the composition, concoction, decoction, efficacy, and previous and modern application of Sangjuyin. After examination, the drug base of this formula is basically clear. Armeniacae Semen Amarum is the dried mature seeds of Armeniaca vulgaris, family Rosaceae. Forsythiae Fructus is the dried fruit of Forsythia suspensa, family Mulleinaceae. Menthae Haplocalycis Herba is the dried above-ground part of Mentha haplocalyx, family Labiatae. Mori Folium is the dried leaves of Morus alba, family Moraceae. Chrysanthemi Flos is the dried head of Chrysanthemum morifolium, family Asteraceae. Platycodonis Radix is the dried root of Eryngium grandiflorum, family Eryngium. Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma is the dried root and rhizome of Glycyrrhiza uralensis of the Leguminosae family, and Phragmitis Rhizoma is the fresh or dried rhizome of Phragmites communis of the Gramineae family. It is recommended that the eight drugs be used in raw form as medicine. The dosage and method of decoction were converted into a modern single dosage of 7.46 g Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 5.60 g Forsythiae Fructus, 2.98 g Menthae Haplocalycis Herba, 9.33 g Mori Folium, 3.73 g Chrysanthemi Flos, 7.46 g Platycodonis Radix, 2.98 g Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, and 11.19 g Phragmitis Rhizoma, with 400 mL water added, and the solution was boiled to obtain 200 mL, taken twice a day. Sangjuyin has the efficacy of dispersing wind and clearing heat, promoting lung and relieving cough, and it is used for treating the initial onset of wind-warmth and the evidence of evil spirits in the lungs and collaterals. Modern research has shown that Sangjuyin is often used in the treatment of cough, pneumonia, rhinitis, and other respiratory diseases, and the results of this study provide a reference for the later development of Sangjuyin.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of chlorinated organophosphate flame retardants (Cl-OPFRs) via respiratory and digestive tract exposure on multiple organs in mice. Methods:A short-term repeated exposure model of tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), tris(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TCIPP) and tris(1, 3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (TDCIPP) in mice was established through intratracheal instillation and oral gavage administration. The exposure doses were 0.7, 1 and 2 mg·kg -1·day -1, respectively, with continuous administration for 14 days. The organs of the heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, stomach, large intestine, small intestine, bladder and testis were collected and weighed to calculate the organ coefficients. The pathological and histological changes were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining to quantitatively assess the effects of the three Cl-OPFRs on the various organs by using the pathology score. Results:Analysis of organ coefficients in tracheal drip-treated mice showed that the organ coefficients in the testes of the TCEP, TCIPP and TDCIPP groups were lower than those in the control group ( PTCEP-testis=0.045, PTCIPP-testis=0.012 and PTDCIPP-testis<0.001). The organ coefficients were lower in the lungs and small intestines of the TCEP group ( PTCEP-lung=0.006, PTCEP-small intestine=0.042). The organ coefficients for the stomach and large intestine were higher in the TDCIPP group ( PTDCIPP-stomach=0.014, PTDCIPP-large intestine=0.049). Analyses of gavage-contaminated mice showed that the organ coefficients for liver, stomach and small intestine in the TCEP and TDCIPP groups were higher than those in the control group ( PTCEP-liver=0.007, PTCEP-stomach=0.003, PTCEP-small intestine<0.001, PTDCIPP-liver=0.001, PTDCIPP-stomach=0.004, and PTDCIPP-small intestine<0.001). Histopathological analyses of the organs of tracheal drip dyed mice showed significant pathological damage in the lung tissue of the TCIPP group, mainly in the form of thickening of the interstitium, infiltration of inflammatory cells and alveolar collapse. The results of the analysis of gavage poisoned mice showed that TCIPP exposure could lead to blurring of the red and white medullary boundaries of spleen tissues, destruction of white medullary structures, etc., and induce small intestinal cryptitis. TDCIPP induced significant pathological damage to the liver tissues of mice, which mainly included cytoplasmic washout, infiltration of inflammatory cells, acute inflammation, and other injurious effects. Significant pathological damage to the intestinal tissues of mice was also observed. Conclusions:This study demonstrates that the toxic effects of Cl-OPFRs are significantly associated with exposure routes and compound specificity. Respiratory exposure predominantly induces TCIPP-mediated pulmonary injury, while digestive exposure causes TDCIPP-driven hepatointestinal toxicity. These findings provide preliminary evidence for the toxicity screening of Cl-OPFRs.

ObjectiveTo explore the exposure-lag-response relationship between temperature and risk of varicella incidence, and to provide a scientific evidence for early warning and precise prevention and control of varicella epidemic. MethodsDaily varicella cases and daily meteorological data were collected in Minhang District, Shanghai from 2010 to 2022. A distributed lag nonlinear model was used to determine the exposure-lag-response relationship between temperature and risk of varicella incidence. Furthermore, effect of temperature on the incidence risk was determined across different age groups. ResultsIn 2010‒2022, the total number of notified varicella cases was 26 207 in Minhang District, with the highest incidence in the group aged 3‒14 years (50.35%). The seasonal pattern of daily varicella cases showed a double peak. The large peak was found in November and December, followed by a smaller peak in May and June. Moreover, the distributed lag nonlinear model showed a unimodal curve in the relationship between temperature and varicella incidence. The RR value reached its maximum peak of 1.90 (95%CI: 1.25‒2.87) at 7 ℃. A reverse U-shape was found in the lag-response curves between temperature and varicella incidence. Furthermore, the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence showed a unimodal pattern in the varicella cases aged 3‒14 years. The RR value reached its peak at 11 ℃ (RR=2.89, 95%CI: 1.33‒6.24). In contrast, the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence in the cases aged 15 years and above showed a unimodal pattern, with RR value reaching the peak at 5 ℃ (RR=2.14, 95%CI: 1.33‒3.44). ConclusionThe unimodal curve is found in the relationship between temperature and varicella incidence. Low temperature is associated with increased risk of varicella incidence. Children aged 3‒14 years are more susceptible to the effect of temperature on the varicella incidence.

Zhigancao Tang (also known as Fumaitang) is a classic formula for treating "intermittent pulse and palpitations" and is widely used in clinical practice. Sanjia Fumaitang, included in the Catalogue of Ancient Classical Formulas (First Batch) published by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China in 2018, is derived from this formula. This paper employed bibliometric methods to comprehensively investigate and summarize the historical evolution, drug composition, herb origins and preparation, prescription meanings, and ancient and modern applications of Zhigancao Tang, analyzed the composition and usage of Zhigancao Tang, and discussed the reasons and applications of the "Fumaitang" variants created by Wu Jutong. A total of 47 valid pieces of data from 38 ancient texts were included. Results showe that Zhigancao Tang originates from the Treatise on Cold Damage (Shang Han Lun), and the name "Fumaitang" is also recorded in the formula's description. Converted to modern measurements from the Han dynasty system, the recommended preparation for Zhigancao Tang includes 55.2 g of fried Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 41.4 g of Cinnamomi Ramulus, 27.6 g of Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, 220 g of fresh Rehmannia glutinosa, 27.6 g of Asini Corii Colla, 53 g of Ophiopogonis Radix, 45 g of Cannabis Fructus, and 90 g of Jujubae Fructus. All herbs should be decocted with 1 400 mL of yellow rice wine and 1 600 mL of water until 600 mL. Once the Asini Corii Colla is fully dissolved, the decoction should be taken warm at a dosage of 200 mL, three times a day. Zhigancao Tang is effective for replenishing Qi, warming Yang, nourishing Yin, and nourishing blood and is primarily used to treat “intermittent pulse and palpitations” caused by deficiencies in heart Yin and Yang, as well as malnutrition of the heart meridian and conditions like lung atrophy. Modern applications mainly focus on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, including arrhythmias, coronary heart disease, and premature ventricular contractions. The findings from this research provide a reference for the further development of Zhigancao Tang.

Objective:To investigate the application value of NB CE-Chirp ASSR in the assessment of hearing threshold in children with hearing impairment. Methods:The hearing test results of 44 children with sensorineural hearing loss(88 ears) diagnosed in Shanghai Children's Hospital from January 2023 to December 2023 were retrospectively studied, including 19 ears in mild hearing loss group, 26 ears in moderate group, 20 ears in severe group and 23 ears in extremely severe group. Correlations between auditory brainstem response(ABR) thresholds, pure tone audiometry(PTA) thresholds and NB CE-Chirp ASSR response thresholds in different hearing loss groups were analyzed. Results:The threshold difference between ABR and NB CE-Chirp ASSR(2 000-4 000 Hz) was between 0.50-4.08 dB in different degrees of hearing loss group. There was a significant correlation between NB CE-Chirp ASSR and ABR response threshold in each group(P<0.001), and the correlation coefficients of mild, severe and extremely severe groups were all greater than 0.8, showing a strong correlation. The average threshold difference between PTA and NB CE-Chirp ASSR in each group was between 1.88-3.91 dB. The correlation coefficients were all greater than 0.8, showing a strong correlation. The difference between PTA and NB CE-Chirp ASSR response threshold at 500, 1 000, 2 000 and 4 000 Hz in each groupwas between 0.25-3.84 dB. With the increase of frequency, the correlation coefficient between PTA and NB CE-Chirp ASSR response threshold showed an upward trend. The frequency with the highest coefficient was 4 000 Hz, and the r values were all greater than 0.9, followed by 2 000 Hz, and the correlation coefficient was relatively low at 500 Hz. In the extremely severe group, each frequency coefficient was greater than 0.7, showing a strong correlation. Conclusion:NB CE-Chirp ASSR has good frequency specificity and can reliably assess hearing thresholds in hearing-impaired children.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine 2022;04(4):238-244
Objective::The objective of this study was to investigate the expression levels of microRNA-141-5p(miRNA-141-5p), MAPK1 and neutrophil elastase in patients with and without preeclampsia (PE), and the relationship between miRNA-141-5p and MAPK1 with respect to the secretion of elastase by neutrophils in patients with PE.Methods::Thirty patients with PE and 30 healthy pregnant (HP) women were recruited from The Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan, China, between February 2017 and July 2018. Neutrophils were isolated from 8 mL peripheral blood samples and cultured. We recorded neutrophil count and morphology during culture. Apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry in different groups at 0, 24, and 48 h. The expression levels of elastase were detected in neutrophils by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, whereas the expression levels of miRNA-141-5p in peripheral blood neutrophils were detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction. We used TargetScanHuman Release 7.2 to analyze the target genes of miRNA-141-5p. The expression of MAPK1 in peripheral blood neutrophils was detected by western blotting. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 21.0 software, and comparisons between groups were carried out with the Student t test. Results::There was no significant difference between the PE and HP groups ( P > 0.050) with regard to age or body mass index. The weight of newborns in the PE group (2846.00 ± 600.00 g) was significantly lower than that in the HP group (3055.00 ± 230.68 g). The number of neutrophilic granulocytes(NGs) in blood samples from the PE group was significantly higher than that in the HP group ( P = 0.003). There was no significant difference between the groups with regard to morphology. Apoptosis in the PE group was delayed when compared with the HP group at different time points. The P value of apoptosis in the PE and HP groups were respectively 0.790, < 0.001 and 0.030 at 0 h, 24 h and 48 h. The expression levels of miRNA-141-5p in the PE group were significantly lower than those in the HP group ( P < 0.050). The expression levels of MAPK1 in neutrophils from the PE group were significantly higher than those in the HP group ( P < 0.050) by western blot. The expression levels of elastase in neutrophils from the PE group were significantly higher than those in the HP group ( P < 0.050). Furthermore, the number of NGs in peripheral blood from the PE group was higher than that of the HP group; however, the levels of apoptosis were lower. The expression levels of miRNA-141-5p in NGs decreased, the expression of MAPK1 increased, and the secretion of neutrophil elastase in the NG medium increased in the PE group than those in the HP group. Conclusion::Collectively, our analysis suggested that miRNA-141-5p may be involved in the pathogenesis of PE by regulating the MAPK1 signaling pathway to activate neutrophils and increase the secretion of elastase.
