Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex and heterogeneous endocrine disorder affecting 5%-15% of women of reproductive age worldwide. It is characterized by hyperandrogenemia, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology, and is associated with long-term risks of chronic conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes mellitus. Although the etiology of PCOS remains incompletely understood, the intricate interplay of genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and epigenetic modifications plays a pivotal role in its pathogenesis.

Objective To assess the causality between 14 malignant tumors and hypertension. Methods Publicly available datasets from genome-wide association study were used, from which independent genetic variants strongly associated with hypertension and 14 malignant tumors were extracted as instrumental variables for bidirectional Mendelian randomization(MR)analysis, including random effect inverse variance weighted(IVW),simple mode, weighted median, weighted mode and MR-Egger to evaluate the causal effect.Sensitivity analysis was used to test the validity and robustness of the analytical results, and multivariate MR method was used to further control for the effects of confounding factors. Results In the MR analysis of malignant melanoma and hypertension, the study included a total of 11 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)strongly associated with malignant melanoma. After Bonferroni correction, the IVW-based results showed a causal relationship between malignant melanoma and hypertension(OR=1.67,95%CI:1.27-2.21,P<0.001).Cochran's Q test,Mendelian randomization pleiotropy residual sum and outlier test and MR-Egger intercept test showed that there were no outliers and no horizontal pleiotropy among the instrumental variables, and the sensitivity analysis of the leave-one-out method showed that there was no single SNP that had a significant impact on the overall results. In the analysis of hypertension and leukemia, the preliminary analysis results showed that there may be a relationship between the two,but after adjusting for confounders, the effect of hypertension on the risk of leukemia was no longer significant. Conclusion Malignant melanoma may be a risk factor in the development of hypertension.

Background::Psychological stress has been reported to be a potential risk factor for hypertension among females, but it remains unclear whether spousal chronic stress levels alter the risk of hypertension among women. We examined the associations between stress within the family and hypertension among married women.Methods::Reproductive-aged women who were planning for pregnancy and their husbands were recruited from the National Free Pre-pregnancy Checkup Projects (NFPCP) across 31 provinces in China in 2016 and 2017. Perceived stress of wives or husbands was measured with a 5-point Likert-type scale, and assessed from three domains: work/life-related stress, economic stress, and overall stress. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models were used to assess the associations between stress status and the prevalence of hypertension.Results::Of 10,027,644 couples, 261,098 (2.60%) women had hypertension. The results showed that higher stress levels among themselves or their husbands were associated with a higher prevalence of hypertension in women ( Pfor trend <0.001). Compared with non-stressed participants, female participants with the highest stress themselves were at a greater risk of hypertension, with adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 1.31 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.25-1.37); and compared with participants whose husbands had no stress, those whose husbands had the highest stress level were at a higher risk of hypertension with adjusted OR of 1.24 (95% CI: 1.20-1.29). Moreover, compared with non-stressed status for both couples, only-wife-stressed, only-husband-stressed, and both-stressed couples were found to be significantly associated with increased risks of wives’ hypertension, with adjusted ORs of 1.28 (95% CI: 1.25-1.31), 1.19 (95% CI: 1.17-1.21), and 1.28 (95% CI: 1.26-1.31), respectively. Conclusion::Moderate to severe stress in both spouses might be associated with female hypertension prevalence, which highlights the importance of paying attention to the psychological stresses of couples within the family.

Nutrition Research and Practice 2023;17(3):387-396
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES:
To identify modifiable risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus and explore the relationship between diet sodium intake and blood glucose levels.MATERIALS/METHODS: Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, we extracted, analyzed, and assessed the available crossover studies of dietary salt intake restriction and insulin resistance in PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE, Embase, Wanfang, and CNKI databases.
RESULTS:
We included 6 studies with 8 sets of data, covering 485 subjects. I2 statistics results showed insignificant heterogeneity among all data (I 2 = 39.2% < 50%). Thus, a fixed-effect model was adopted for the final pooled effect size. Weighted mean difference and its 95% confidence interval (CI) value was 0.193 (95% CI, 0.129–0.257), and the test of the overall effect showed P < 0.001. The results revealed that the blood glucose levels in the subjects in the low-salt intake group were significantly higher than those in the normal or high-salt intake groups. We also found no significant change occurred after the removal of any study through sensitivity analysis, which confirmed that the outcome we calculated was prudent and credible. The quantitative Egger’s test (P = 0.109 > 0.05) indicated that insignificant publication bias existed.
CONCLUSION
This meta-analysis highlights the relationship between dietary sodium intake and blood glucose levels. Our findings show that higher blood glucose levels might be expected in hypertensive or normal people with low-salt consumption compared to those with normal or high-salt consumption, although these differences were not clinically significant.Trial Registration: PROSPERO Identifier: CRD42021256998

Objective:This study aimed to explore and analyze correlated factors of the characteristics of moderate and severe pain in head and neck cancer (HNC) patients after tissue flap repairment, to provide the basis for the following pain management. Methods:The convenience sampling method was used to enroll 239 patients who underwent tissue flap repairment at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Peking University Hospital of Stomatology between December 2017 and December 2018 in this study. To classify the types of pain, Verbal Rating Scale (VRS) scores were used to collect the pain symptoms of patients with 6 time periods of wound, throat, infusion, other and non-intervention for 6 days, and analyze the characteristics and correlated factors of moderate and severe pain.Results:Eighty-seven of the 239 patients complained of moderate or severe pain. The distribution of patients age and education level had statistical differences in the presence or absence of moderate to severe pain ( P<0.05) . The cases of sore throat and frequency occurred most frequently among all types of pain. Conclusions:Although patient-controlled analgesia is given to patients after flap repairment, more than one-third of patients still complained of moderate and severe pain. Different types of pain have different characteristics, and throat pain occurred more frequently. Moderate pain was more common in male patients, while severe pain has a much higher proportion in female patients.

Objective:Selected virulence factors more than and high virulent Aeromonas hydrophia strain made into inactivated vaccine,to study the immunization effect of inactivated vaccine. Methods:Crucian were vaccinated with formalin-killed vaccine via in-traperitoneal injection.Controls were injected with the same volumes of saline. Then the antibody titres, histopathology and relative percent survival were analyzed from samples of both groups. Results: The antibody in the indirect agglutination reaction could be detected in vaccinated fish once a weeks after immunization and reached highest level 6 weeks after immunization. The histopathology analysis indicated that the vaccine had a good protective effect on crucian target organs.Vaccinated fish showed 100%relative percent survival and the immune period would be 6 month. Conclusion:The vaccine in this study has a significant protective effect on crucian and may be used as effective fish vaccines against bacterial septicemia.
