ObjectiveTo systematically compare the effects of diverse electromagnetic stimulation protocols on hand function and activities of daily living (ADL) in stroke patients using network meta-analysis (NMA), and screen the optimal stimulation strategy for post-stroke hand dysfunction rehabilitation. MethodsNMA was performed in accordance with the PRISMA-NMA statement. Databases of CNKI, Wanfang data, VIP, CBM, PubMed, Web of Science and Embase were searched from database inception to April, 2026 for eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing different electromagnetic stimulation protocols for post-stroke hand impairment. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool and PEDro scale were used to assess methodological quality of included studies, while the GRADE system was adopted to grade evidence quality of primary outcomes of Fugl-Meyer Assessment-Upper Extremities (FMA-UE) and modified Barthel Index (MBI). After literature screening, data extraction and bias evaluation, RevMan 5.4 and Stata 17.0 were used for meta-analysis and NMA. ResultsA total of 22 RCT involving 17 electromagnetic stimulation protocols were finally included. The PEDro scores ranged from six to ten. The top five protocols for improving FMA-UE score were repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) + repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), intermittent theta-burst stimulation (iTBS) + rPMS, iTBS + transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) and contralaterally controlled functional electrical stimulation (CCFES). tDCS was the most effective on MBI, followed by TEAS and iTBS+rPMS. Evidence quality for FMA-UE and MBI was moderate. Funnel plots suggested low risk of publication bias, and consistency tests verified good coherence between direct and indirect comparisons in network models. ConclusionElectromagnetic stimulation significantly facilitates upper limb and hand functional recovery, and improves ADL in stroke patients. The combined central-peripheral magnetic stimulation protocol may be the most effective on motor rehabilitation, whereas tDCS on ADL.

Objective:To explore the predictive value of C-reactive protein/albumin ratio (CAR) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) for opportunistic infection among acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients. Methods:From March 2020 to March 2022, a total of 220 AIDS patients treated in Honghu Center for Disease Control and Prevention were enrolled and they were divided into opportunistic infection group (178 cases) and non-infection group (42 cases) according to whether infection occurred; they were also assigned to bacterial infection group (22 cases), fungal infection group (63 cases) and mixed infection group (93 cases) according to different etiological characteristics. The general data were collected and CAR, SII were calculated according to laboratory indicators. Logistic regression was used to screen the risk factors affecting opportunistic infections or different etiological infections. The predictive value of CAR and SII on opportunistic infection and different etiological infections were compared by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results:The CD 4+T cell count, lymphocyte count were lower in the opportunistic infection group and the CRP, CAR, white blood cell count, neutrophil count, SII were higher in the opportunistic infection group compared with non-infection group, there were statistical differences ( P<0.05). The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that CAR and SII were the independent risk factors of opportunistic infection ( P<0.05). The area under the curve (AUC) of CAR to predict opportunistic infection was 0.886(95% CI 0.837 - 0.925), the specificity and sensitivity was 97.0% and 69.1%; the AUC of SII to predict opportunistic infection was 0.743(95% CI 0.680 - 0.799), the specificity and sensitivity was 52.4% and 88.2%. The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that CAR, monocyte count and SII were the independent risk factors for bacterial infection ( P<0.05). CAR and SII were the independent risk factors for fungal infection ( P<0.05). CD 4+ T cell count, CAR and SII were the independent risk factors for mixed infection ( P<0.05). The AUC of CAR to predict bacterial, fungal and mixed infection were 0.898(95% CI 0.797 - 0.960), 0.828(95% CI 0.742 - 0.895) and 0.923(95% CI 0.864 - 0.962), the optimum critical value were 0.49, 0.43, 0.40, the specificity were 98.7%, 95.2% and 92.9%, the sensitivity were 72.7%, 66.7% and 80.6%. The AUC of SII to predict bacterial, fungal and mixed infections were 0.627(95% CI 0.497 - 0.744), 0.782 (95% CI 0.633 - 0.811) and 0.780(95% CI 0.700 - 0.847), the optimum critical value were 385.13, 379.27, 390.10, the specificity were 55.4%, 52.4% and 54.8%, the sensitivity were 77.3%, 85.7% and 90.3%. Conclusions:CAR and SII can be used as predictors of AIDS opportunistic infection.

OBJECTIVESTo investigate a survey about acceptance of central slaughtering of live poultry in residents of Guangzhou.
METHODSWe conducted a telephone survey by sampling residents with fixed-line telephone and with normal hearing, whose age is more than 15 years, by Mitofsky-Waksberg two-stage method during Jan 6(th) to 8(th), 2014. 358 residents finished the telephone questionnaire by 12 320 health hot line. We investigated the acceptance rate of city-wide central slaughtering permanently. We compared the difference between the respondents and the 2010 Guangzhou census data by Cohen's effect sizes (w) and weighted by population age and sex. We used χ(2) test to compare the acceptance rate of central slaughtering in residents with different characteristic. We used multiple logistic regression analysis to analyze the factors.
RESULTSThe difference in gender and age was small between respondents and the 2010 Guangzhou census data (w value was 0.13, 0.28, respectively), but that in education and marital status was large (w value was 0.52, 0.31, respectively). 49.0% (95% CI: 43.7%-54.3%) accept city-wide central slaughtering permanently. The acceptance rate of city-wide central slaughtering permanently in those who bought fresh, chilled and frozen poultry in their family in previous year was 54.3% (133/245), 60.0% (57/95) and 59.8% (49/82), respectively. It was more than those who didn't buy fresh, chilled and frozen poultry (38.1% (43/113), 44.9% (118/263) and 45.7% (126/276); χ(2) values were 8.15, 6.40 and 5.03; P values were 0.004, 0.011 and 0.025, respectively). The acceptance rate of city-wide central slaughtering permanently in those who deem fresh poultry taste better than live poultry was 64.9% (24/38). It more than those who deem not (47.0%, 151/320) (χ(2) = 4.22, 6.02, P = 0.040, 0.014, respectively). The acceptance rate of city-wide central slaughtering permanently in the male (OR = 2.68, 95% CI: 1.64-4.37) and those who deem getting sick due to buying live birds from LPM (OR = 1.72, 95% CI: 1.05-2.82), who can accept only fresh poultry carcass supply (OR = 2.39, 95% CI: 1.33-4.30), Who bought live poultry in their family in previous year (OR = 0.29, 95% CI: 0.11-0.74), who will decrease the consumption after ban on live poultry sale (OR = 0.50, 95% CI: 0.30-0.83) was 58.6% (109/186), 59.0% (92/156), 60.7% (139/230), 44.9% (132/295), 36.6% (68/186), respectively.
CONCLUSIONIn the early stage of avian influenza A(H7N9) epidemic in Guangzhou, the rate of acceptance of central slaughtering permanently in residents was not so high. Who deem getting sick due to buying live birds from LPM, who could accept only fresh poultry carcass supply and the male more accept city-wide central slaughtering permanently.

BACKGROUNDIn March 2013, human cases of infection with a novel A (H7N9) influenza virus emerged in China. The epidemic spread quickly and as of 6 May 2013, there were 129 confirmed cases. The purpose of this study was to analyze the epidemiology of the confirmed cases, determine the impacts of bird migration and temperature changes on the H7N9 epidemic, predict the future trends of the epidemic, explore the response patterns of the government and propose preventive suggestions.
METHODSThe geographic, temporal and population distribution of all cases reported up to 6 May 2013 were described from available records. Risk assessment standard was established by analysing the temperature and relative humidity records during the period of extensive outbreak in three epidemic regions in eastern China, including Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces. Risk assessment maps were created by combining the bird migration routes in eastern China with the monthly average temperatures from May 1993 to December 2012 nationwide.
RESULTSAmong the confirmed cases, there were more men than women, and 50.4% were elderly adults (age >61 years). The major demographic groups were retirees and farmers. The temperature on the days of disease onset was concentrated in the range of 9°C-19°C; we defined 9°C-19°C as the high-risk temperature range, 0°C-9°C or 19°C-25°C as medium risk and <0°C or >25°C as low risk. The relative humidity on the days of disease onset ranged widely from 25% to 99%, but did not correlate with the incidence of infection. Based on the temperature analysis and the eastern bird migration routes, we predicted that after May, the high-risk region would move to the northeast and inland, while after September, it would move back to north China.
CONCLUSIONSTemperature and bird migration strongly influence the spread of the H7N9 virus. In order to control the H7N9 epidemic effectively, Chinese authorities should strengthen the surveillance of migrating birds, increase poultry and environmental sampling, improve live poultry selling and husbandry patterns and move from a "passive response pattern" to an "active response pattern" in focused preventive measures.

Echinococcus granulosus is the causative agent of cystic echinococcosis with medical and veterinary importance in China. Our main objective was to discuss the genotypes and genetic diversity of E. granulosus present in domestic animals and humans in western China. A total of 45 hydatid cyst samples were collected from sheep, humans, and a yak and subjected to an analysis of the sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome b (cytb) gene. The amplified PCR product for all samples was a 1,068 bp band. The phylogenetic analysis showed that all 45 samples were identified as E. granulosus (genotype G1). Ten haplotypes were detected among the samples, with the main haplotype being H1. The haplotype diversity was 0.626, while the nucleotide diversity was 0.001. These results suggested that genetic diversity was low among our samples collected from the west of China based on cytb gene analysis. These findings may provide more information on molecular characteristics of E. granulosus from this Chinese region.

Objective To observe the effect of elbow support on muscle activity and subjective feelings of comfort during typing. Methods Ten college students voluntarily participated in this experiment. They typed the same text using elbow supports of five different heights. The distance between their elbows and the desk was supported at 3 cm below,0 cm,and-3 cm and-6 cm above the desk. There was also an unsupported condition.Myoelectric readings were recorded from the right splenius, trapezius, biceps, extensor carpi radialis, flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor carpi radialis, and extensor digitorum muscles.Perceptions of comfort of the neck, shoulder, hand and forearm, and hand using the different supports were surveyed using a questionnaire. Results One way ANOVA shows that the height of the elbow significantly affects the activity of the trapezius, the extensor carpi radialis and the extensor digitorum muscles.Trapezius muscle activity was higher with 3 cm high elbow support than without support, and the value was smaller when using-6 cm elbow support. The activity of the carpi radialis longus extensor was least when using-6 cm and-3 cm elbow support, and greatest with 3 cm support.Extensor digitorum activity was least when using-3 cm high elbow support and again greatest with 3 cm support. The different elbow support heights had no significant relationship with comfort perceptions for any body part. Conclusion The height of elbow support can change the average myoelectric signals from muscles during typing, but there is no significant difference in the typist's perception of comfort. This could be due to a change of typing position and neuromuscular motion control mode in response to the height of elbow support.
