Intractable bleeding from locally advanced breast carcinoma is a rare but challenging clinical problem. Given the patients’ poor overall condition and palliative care status, management options are often limited. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) emerges as a potential alternative to traditional surgical or radiation-based approaches for hemorrhage control. This case report presents a successful application of TAE in managing spontaneous bleeding from a locally advanced breast cancer.
2.Unlocking the Potential of Chest MRI: Strategies for Establishing a Successful Practice

Chest MRI is a valuable tool for assessing chest structures, particularly when CT produces inconclusive results. MRI provides exceptional soft-tissue resolution and enables the determination of lesion location, size, and invasion into neighboring structures. Its applications span various clinical scenarios, including the differentiation of non-tumorous and tumorous conditions in the mediastinum or pleura, planning of surgical interventions and treatments for such tumors, evaluation of post-treatment recurrence, staging of lung cancer, and diagnosis of progressive massive fibrosis. Despite the technical hurdles posed by cardiac and respiratory motion, advancements in sequence and scan techniques have enabled high-quality chest MRI examinations to be conducted across diverse clinical settings. This pictorial essay aims to offer comprehensive resources and strategies for radiologists to integrate chest MRI into clinical practice and to overcome its present challenges.
3.Structural Equation Model for Intent of Return to Nursing Practice among Inactive Korean Nurses

Purpose:
This study aimed to predict and test a hypothetical model for the Intent of Return to Nursing Practice(IRNP) among inactive Korean nurses and to identify the interrelationships and influences of factors affecting IRNP.
Methods:
The conceptual model was developed by integrating Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior and Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory. Data were collected from 224 Korean nurses who experienced a career disruption of more than one year through online or offline surveys. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 22.0.
Results:
The average nursing care length was seven years. The primary reason for leaving practice was rotating shifts, while the main barrier to reemployment was exhaustion. Among the variables, Career Commitment (β=.59, p<.001), Nursing Work Environment (β=.37, p<.001), and Attitude (β=.32, p<.001) had significant total effects on IRNP. Career Nursing Commitment, Subjective Norm, and Attitude showed direct effects, while the Nursing Work Environment had the second-largest total effect on IRNP, acting indirect by mediating Career Commitment.
Conclusion
The findings highlight the need for collaborative efforts among nurses, family, colleagues, hospitals, professional associations, and nursing policymakers to prevent the permanent loss of skilled nursing professionals.
4.The Impact of Clinical Competence and Perception of Clinical Ladder System on Organizational Commitment among Nurses at a General Tertiary Hospital

Purpose:
This study aimed to evaluate the performance of a clinical ladder system in a tertiary hospital by examining how nurses' clinical competence and perceptions of the system affect organizational commitment.
Methods:
The study involved 394 nurses working at a tertiary hospital. Data were collected from May 3 to July 10, 2023, using a self-reported questionnaire. Statistical analyses, including descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Scheffé post-hoc test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis, were performed using SPSS 27.0.
Results:
Nurses who applied for promotion to the CN III level and current CN III nurses reported higher clinical competence, perceptions of the clinical ladder system, and organizational commitment than those who did not and those at lower levels (p<.001). A positive correlation existed among all independent variables.Controlling for general characteristics, the effects of clinical competence and perceptions of the clinical ladder system explained 49% of organizational commitment variance (Adjusted R 2 =.49, F=33.43, p<.001).
Conclusion
Greater clinical competence and positive perceptions of the clinical ladder system are likely to enhance organizational commitment, emphasizing its effectiveness in fostering better organizational outcomes.
5.The association of professional self-concept and teamwork on job satisfaction in Korean emergency department nurses: a cross-sectional study

This study aimed to derive insights into professional self-concept, teamwork, and job satisfaction among emergency department (ED) nurses and to prepare basic data for improving job satisfaction among ED nurses. Methods: The study was conducted between October 2023 and April 2024 at two certified tertiary hospitals and one general hospital in Gyeonggi-do, Korea, among 124 ED nurses. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0, and the analysis included descriptive statistics, the t-test, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression. Results: The factors affecting job satisfaction in ED nurses were professional self-concept (β = .66, p < .001), teamwork (β = .17, p = .003), and ED work satisfaction (β = .17, p = .003), and the overall explanatory power of the model was 67.7%. Conclusion: This study makes a significant contribution by demonstrating that professional self-concept and teamwork can increase job satisfaction in ED nurses. Therefore, as a strategy to increase job satisfaction through improving ED nurses’ professional self-concept and teamwork, effort should be made to apply team simulation programs that provide education and self-improvement opportunities for frequent diseases and situations encountered in the ED, and to communicate effectively about patient treatment strategies.
6.Sentinel Safety Monitoring System for Adverse Events of Special Interest Associated With Non-NIP Vaccines in Korea

South Korea’s current vaccination policies leave a surveillance gap for non-National Immunization Program (NIP) vaccines. In this study, we proposed a sentinel surveillance approach for monitoring the safety of non-NIP vaccines. Vaccination data were collected retrospectively among patients hospitalized with pre-defined adverse events of special interest (AESI) by reviewing electronic medical records in five university hospitals. This approach incorporates expert assessment to determine the causal relationship. We confirmed that 16 patients had received non-NIP vaccines among 860 patients diagnosed with AESI.We concluded one case of preeclampsia was possibly related to tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis vaccination. We propose a multi-hospital-based, retrospective assessment system for predefined AESIs as an alternative to active vaccine safety monitoring method. These efforts are expected to enhance both the accuracy and timeliness of safety monitoring in South Korea.
7.Emerging Innovations in Acne Management: A Focus on NonPharmacological Therapeutic Devices

Acne is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the sebaceous glands, with approximately 80% of individuals experiencing it at some point in their lives. Among adolescents, the incidence is reported to exceed 85%. The disease can significantly impact both physical and emotional aspects of a person’s quality of life, leading to permanent scarring, poor self-image, depression, and anxiety. The standard first-line treatment for acne vulgaris includes conventional pharmacological approaches such as keratolytics, topical or oral antibiotics, retinoids, and hormonal agents. However, these treatments are not universally effective due to patient noncompliance, adverse drug effects, and the emergence of antibiotic resistance in Cutibacterium acnes, often resulting in high rates of recurrence. Consequently, non-pharmacological therapies have been developed as safe and effective alternatives or supplements to pharmacological treatment. These non-pharmacological approaches can serve as standalone treatment modalities, adjuncts to pharmacological therapy, or maintenance treatments. Current literature lacks comprehensive data on the classification of these non-pharmacological treatment options. This paper aims to provide a brief overview of recent research on the practical applications and potential mechanisms of nonpharmacological therapies for both acne and acne scars. Through elucidating the distinct mechanisms and therapeutic roles of these treatments, we aim to assist dermatologists and other healthcare providers in formulating more effective disease management strategies, thereby encouraging further research in this area.
