Objective:To provide references for finding an objective, accurate, highly repeatable and operable measurement method of the resting energy expenditure (REE) for flying personnel by taking the indirect calorimetry measured REE as the gold standard and establishing the formula for predicting REE combined with body composition indexes.Methods:Fourteen normal-size male volunteers were chosen as the subjects. The hypobaric hypoxia environment was constructed in the hypobaric chamber. The subjects were asked to complete single task (flight control) and dual task (flight control and calculation). The body weight, fat free mass (FFM), muscle mass (MM), fat mass (FM), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), visceral fat mass (VFM) and body fat percentage (BF%) were directly measured by body composition analyzer. The respiratory frequency (RF), volume of CO 2 (VCO 2), maximal volume of O 2 (VO 2max), volume of tidal (VT), minute ventilation volume (VE), metablic equivalent (MET), REE and REE/kg/d were measured by gas metabolizer. The correlation between REE and body composition indexes was analyzed and a linear regression equation was obtained. Results:In the simulated hypobaric hypoxia environment, the RF, VCO 2, VO 2max, VE, VT, REE, REE/kg/d, MET and heart rate of the subjects increased slightly in the dual task, but there were no significant differences between the dual task and the single task (all P>0.05). REE was positively correlated with FFM and MM ( r=0.566, 0.570, P=0.035, 0.033), but not with height, FM and heart rate (all P>0.05). The prediction formula of REE in hypobaric hypoxia environment was Model A: REE=60.34×MM-1 121 ( r=0.570, P=0.033), or Model B: REE=55.34×FFM-1 073 ( r=0.566, P=0.035). There was a positive correlation between the predicted REE and the measured REE ( r=0.570, P=0.033) for Model A, and the error value was (0.032±358.170) kcal/d, P=1.00>0.05. Conclusions:FFM and MM are the main determinants of REE in normal-size subjects under hypobaric hypoxia environment. Either MM or FFM shows a good prediction effect to REE.

This study assessed the influence of the composition of drug-free SNEDDS co-dosed with aqueous suspensions of carvedilol (CAR), cinnarizine (CIN) or R3040 on drug solubilization in a two-compartment lipolysis model. Correlation of drug log or solubility in SNEDDS with drug solubilization during lipolysis in the presence of drug-free SNEDDS was assessed. SNEDDS with varying ratios of soybean oil:Maisine 35-1 (1:1, /) and Kolliphor RH40, with ethanol at 10% (/) were used. SNEDDS were named F65, F55 and F20 (numbers refer to the percentage of lipids) and aqueous suspensions without drug-free SNEDDS (F0) were also analyzed. While the ranking order of drug solubilization was F65=F55=F20>F0 for CAR; F65=F55>F20>F0 for CIN and F65=F55=F20>F0 for R3040 - with higher CAR solubilization than for R3040 and CIN - the ranking of of CAR, CIN and R3040 in SNEDDS was F65F20 and F65>F55>F20, respectively. Therefore, the composition of SNEDDS influenced the solubilization of CIN, but not CAR and R3040. Furthermore, high in SNEDDS did not reflect high drug solubilization. As CAR (log 3.8) showed higher solubilization than CIN (log 5.8) and R3040 (log 10.4), a correlation between drug log and drug solubilization was observed.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the correlation of genetic mutations and clinical features of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) with scores of Revised International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS-R). METHODS: Eighty-seven patients with de novo MDS were enrolled. Mutations of MDS-related genes and clinical features were used to determine the incidence and subtype of mutations. Clinical features and IPSS-R scores of the patients with high frequency mutations involving TET2, TP53, ASXL1, RUNX1 and SF3B1 genes were compared. RESULTS: Fifty-four patients (62.1%) harbored at least one point mutation. The incidences of various mutations were significantly different, with the incidence of MDS-EB-2 being 100% and MDS-SLD being only 38.9%. Compared with the wild types, patients harboring mutations had higher lactate dehydrogenase, higher β2 microglobulin, higher percentage of bone marrow blast cells and lower hemoglobin levels (P=0.027, <0.01, <0.01, 0.046, respectively). The IPSS-R scores of MDS patients with mutations were significantly higher than the wild types (P<0.01). The IPSS-R scores of the TP53 mutation groups were 7.82±1.83, which was significantly higher than the control group (3.77±1.66, P<0.01). No difference was found between the IPSS-R between patients carrying TET2, ASXL1, RUNX1, and SF3B1 mutations or the wild types (P>0.05). CONCLUSION Genetic mutations are commonly found in MDS. MDS patients with mutations have unique clinical laboratory characteristics. Although the prognostic value of most genes is controversial, TP53 is an definite indicator of poor prognosis.

DATA SOURCESRelevant articles were published in English as of May 2013 from Pubmed. Terms "polycystic ovary syndrome/PCOS, qualitative research and methodology" were used for searching.

STUDY SELECTIONArticles studying PCOS with qualitative methods were reviewed. Articles associated with the use of qualitative research in clinical research were cited.

RESULTSSix qualitative studies related to PCOS were found in the literature search. These studies addressed different aspects in PCOS women including their womanhood, lived experience, information need, and experience of treatment with acupuncture. Five of these six studies used phenomenology as guiding theory.

CONCLUSIONQuantitative research has been the dominant approach in the field so far, qualitative research is relevant to the advancement of PCOS.

Objectives To explore the effect of traditional Chinese medicine wine combired with electromagnetic therapy for the neck,shoulder,back and leg pain. Methods Eighty cases of patients with neck,shoulder,back and leg pain were randomly divided into 2 groups,with 40 cases in each group,treatment group was given the traditional Chinese medicine wine and electromagnetic therapy,the control group was prescribed(only with electromagnetic therapy),use the numerical rating scale to observe the effects of two groups before therapy,3 days and 7 days after therapy . Result After treatment,the pain of the treatment group was relieved significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine wine combired with electromagnetic therapy for the neck,shoulder,back and leg pain has satisfactory effect,and is worthy to promotion.

Objective To investigate current dietary and dyslipidemia status of air force pilots.Methods Energy expenditure was calculated by using daily-activity-recording method.Dietary survey was performed through weighing method.Body measurements were carried out according to military criteria.Double agent enzymic method was used to detect blood lipid profiles.The results were compared in 1997 and 1982.t or x2 test was used for data analysis.Results Excessive energy consumption and highprotein and fat or low-carbohydrate intake was found in the participants.Energy from fat or carbohydrate accounted for 47.3％ and 37.9％,respectively.Obesity and overweight was found in 20.8％ air force pilots,and hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia occurred in 47.9％ and 17.7％,respectively.Conclusion Dietary pattern and energy metabolism are inappropriate in air force pilots as a result of dyslipidemia.
