In the 1950s and 1960s,Japan's implementation of policies prioritizing economic develop-ment caused a lack of effective supervision over the discharge of industrial wastewater and exhaust gases,which led to the occurrence of the"Four Major Pollution Diseases",including Minamata disease,causing serious social and public health problems.To more effectively address public nuisances and pro-vide compensation to victims,the Japanese government gradually established an environmental damage compensation system with administrative relief characteristics since the 1970s.Through long-term prac-tice and system optimization,this system has evolved into a mature institutional framework with a clear division of labor and efficient collaboration.This paper systematically reviews the development process of Japan's environmental damage compensation system and deeply analyzes its legal frame-work and supporting policies,aiming to provide useful references for the construction and improve-ment of China's environmental damage compensation system.Meanwhile,through the case analysis of Minamata disease,the paper explores the specific mechanisms and effects in the compensation practices,further revealing the system's operational characteristics and implications,and providing a reference ba-sis for the construction of China's environmental governance legal system.

This paper aimed to use non-targeted urine metabolomics to reveal the potential biomarkers of toxicity in rats with hepatic injury induced by aqueous extracts of Dictamni Cortex(ADC). Forty-eight SD rats were randomly assigned to a blank group and high-dose, medium-dose, and low-dose ADC groups, with 12 rats in each group(half male and half female), and they were administered orally for four weeks. The hepatic injury in SD rats was assessed by body weight, liver weight/index, biochemical index, L-glutathione(GSH), malondialdehyde(MDA), and pathological alterations. The qPCR was utilized to determine the expression of metabolic enzymes in the liver and inflammatory factors. Differential metabolites were screened using principal component analysis(PCA) and partial least squares-discriminant analysis(PLS-DA), followed by a metabolic pathway analysis. The Mantel test was performed to assess differential metabolites and abnormally expressed biochemical indexes, obtaining potential biomarkers. The high-dose ADC group showed a decrease in body weight and an increase in liver weight and index, resulting in hepatic inflammatory cell infiltration and hepatic steatosis. In addition, this group showed elevated levels of MDA, cytochrome P450(CYP) 3A1, interleukin-1β(IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), as well as lower levels of alanine transaminase(ALT) and GSH. A total of 76 differential metabolites were screened from the blank and high-dose ADC groups, which were mainly involved in the pentose phosphate pathway, tryptophan metabolism, purine metabolism, pentose and glucuronic acid interconversion, galactose metabolism, glutathione metabolism, and other pathways. The Mantel test identified biomarkers of hepatotoxicity induced by ADC in SD rats, including glycineamideribotide, dIDP, and galactosylglycerol. In summary, ADC induced hepatotoxicity by disrupting glucose metabolism, ferroptosis, purine metabolism, and other pathways in rats, and glycineamideribotide, dIDP, and galactosylglycerol could be employed as the biomarkers of its toxicity.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the short-term clinical efficacy and safety of closed reduction with Kirschner wire fixation versus open reduction with plate fixation for treating osteoporotic Colles' fractures in middle-aged and elderly patients. METHODS: Between January 2018 and January 2023, 119 patients with Colles fractures were retrospectively analyzed, including 39 males and 80 females, aged from 48 to 74 years old with an average of(60.58±6.71) years old. The time from injury to operation ranged 1 to 13 days with an average of (5.29±2.52) days. According to the surgical method, they were divided into Kirschner wire fixation group (Kirschner wire group) and plate internal fixation group (plate group). In Kirschner wire group, there were a total of 68 patients, comprising 21 males and 47 females. The average age was (61.15±6.24) years old, ranged from 49 to 74 years old. Among them, 41 cases involved the left side while 27 cases involved the right side. In the plate group, there were a total of 51 patients, including 18 males and 33 females. The average age was (59.78±5.71) years old ranged from 48 to 72 years old. Among them, there were 31 cases on the left side and 20 cases on the right side. The following parameters were recorded before and after the operation:operation time, intraoperative blood loss, hospitalization days, hospitalization expenses, postoperative complications, and radiographic parameters of distal radius (distal radius height, ulnar deviation angle, palmar tilt angle). The clinical efficacy was evaluated at 3 and 12 months after the operation using Gartland-Werley and disabilites of the arm shoulder and hand (DASH) scores. RESULTS: The patients in both groups were followed up for a duration from 12 to 19 months with an average of(13.32±2.02) months. The Kirschner wire group exhibited significantly shorter operation time compared to the plate group 27.91(13.00, 42.00) min vs 67.52(29.72, 105.32) min, Z=-8.74, P=0.00. Intraoperative blood loss was also significantly lower in the Kirschner wire group than in the plate group 3.24(1.08, 5.40) ml vs 21.91(17.38, 26.44) ml, Z=-9.31, P=0.00. Furthermore, patients in the Kirschner wire group had a shorter length of hospital stay compared to those in the plate group (8.38±2.63) days vs (11.40±2.78) days, t=-3.12, P=0.00. Additionally, hospitalization cost was significantly lower in the Kirschner wire group than in the plate group 10 111.29(6 738.98, 13 483.60) yuan vs 15 871.11(11 690.40, 20 051.82) yuan, Z=-5.62, P=0.00. The incidence of complications was 2 cases in the Kirschner wire group and 1 case in the plate group, with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05). At 3 months postoprative, the radial height of the Kirschner wire group was found to be significantly smaller than that of the plate group, with measurements of (11.45±1.69) mm and (12.11±1.78) mm respectively (t=-2.06, P=0.04). However, there were no statistically significant differences observed in ulnar deviation angle and palmar tilt angle between the two groups (P>0.05). The DASH score and Gartland-Werley score in the Kirschner group were significantly higher than those in the plate group at 3 months post-operation (19.10±9.89) vs (13.47±3.51), t=4.34, P=0.00;(11.15±3.61) vs (6.41±2.75), t=8.13, P=0.00). However, there was no significant difference between the two groups at 12 months post-operation (P>0.05). CONCLUSION Compared to plate internal fixation, closed reduction with Kirschner wire support fixation yields a slightly inferior recovery of radial height;however, there is no significant disparity in the functional score of the affected limb at 12 months post-operation. Nonetheless, this technique offers advantages such as shorter operation time, reduced intraoperative blood loss, decreased hospitalization duration, and lower cost.

PURPOSE: Lateral patellar compression syndrome (LPCS) is characterized by a persistent abnormally high stress exerted on the lateral articular surface of the patella due to lateral patellar tilt without dislocation and lateral retinaculum contracture, leading to anterior knee pain. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and prognosis of lateral retinaculum release (LRR) combined with chondroplasty in the treatment of LPCS. METHODS: This retrospective study evaluated 40 patients who underwent LRR combined with chondroplasty for LPCS between 2020 and 2021. The assessment included improvement in postoperative tenderness and knee joint function. Patients were evaluated using the Lysholm, Tegner, and International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 scoring systems, as well as the visual analog scale, both preoperatively and postoperatively, with the paired comparisons analyzed using a t-test. Additionally, intraoperative observations were made regarding knee joint lesions, including cartilage damage and osteophyte formation, with analysis by the Chi-square test. RESULTS: The visual analog scale score for tenderness showed a significant decrease after surgery (p < 0.001). Evaluation of knee joint function also indicated significant improvements, as demonstrated by increased Lysholm, Tegner, and International Knee Documentation Committee 2000 scores postoperatively (p < 0.001, p = 0.011, p < 0.001, respectively). Furthermore, all LPCS patients included in the study presented with cartilage injuries and osteophyte formation. Significant differences were noted in the incidence of cartilage damage and osteophyte formation at different locations within the knee among patients with LPCS. CONCLUSION LRR combined with chondroplasty is an effective surgical approach for treating patients with LPCS, with satisfactory recovery observed at the 1-year follow-up. Additionally, the incidence of cartilage damage and osteophyte formation in LPCS patients varies significantly depending on the specific location within the knee joint.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic potential of pseudolaric acid B (PAB) on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and its underlying molecular mechanism in vitro and in vivo. METHODS: Eight-week-old male C57BL/6J mice (n=32) were fed either a normal chow diet (NCD) or a high-fat diet (HFD) for 8 weeks. The HFD mice were divided into 3 groups according to a simple random method, including HFD, PAB low-dose [10 mg/(kg·d), PAB-L], and PAB high-dose [20 mg/(kg·d), PAB-H] groups. After 8 weeks of treatment, glucose metabolism and insulin resistance were assessed by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) and insulin tolerance test (ITT). Biochemical assays were used to measure the serum and cellular levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C). White adipose tissue (WAT), brown adipose tissue (BAT) and liver tissue were subjected to hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining or Oil Red O staining to observe the alterations in adipose tissue and liver injury. PharmMapper and DisGeNet were used to predict the NAFLD-related PAB targets. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) pathway involvement was suggested by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and search tool Retrieval of Interacting Genes (STRING) analyses. Luciferase reporter assay, cellular thermal shift assay (CETSA), and drug affinity responsive target stability assay (DARTS) were conducted to confirm direct binding of PAB with PPARα. Molecular dynamics simulations were applied to further validate target engagement. RT-qPCR and Western blot were performed to assess the downstream genes and proteins expression, and validated by PPARα inhibitor MK886. RESULTS: PAB significantly reduced serum TC, TG, LDL-C, AST, and ALT levels, and increased HDL-C level in HFD mice (P<0.01). Target prediction analysis indicated a significant correlation between PAB and PPARα pathway. PAB direct target binding with PPARα was confirmed through luciferase reporter assay, CETSA, and DARTS (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The target engagement between PAB and PPARα protein was further confirmed by molecular dynamics simulations and the top 3 amino acid residues, LEU321, MET355, and PHE273 showed the most significant changes in mutational energy. Subsequently, PAB upregulated the genes expressions involved in lipid metabolism and mitochondrial biogenesis downstream of PPARα (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Significantly, the PPARα inhibitor MK886 effectively reversed the lipid-lowering and PPARα activation properties of PAB (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSION PAB mitigates lipid accumulation, ameliorates liver damage, and improves mitochondrial biogenesis by binding with PPARα, thus presenting a potential candidate for pharmaceutical development in the treatment of NAFLD.

OBJECTIVE To explore the willingness to pay （WTP） of Urumqi residents for community pharmacies’ medication guidance services and its influencing factors， so as to provide data support for the optimization of community pharmacy services and the establishment of a fee structure for medication guidance services. METHODS A stratified quota sampling method was employed to select 14 communities in Urumqi City. From April to June 2025， a combined offline and online questionnaire survey was conducted among adult residents in these communities. The contingent valuation method was used to construct three hypothetical scenarios （namely， basic， enhanced and extended services） of medication counselling in community pharmacies to assess residents’ WTP for these services. Binary Logistic regression was employed to analyze the influencing factors of WTP. RESULTS A total of 576 valid questionnaires were obtained. Under the scenarios of basic， enhanced and extended services， 38.54%， 49.65% and 67.19% of the respondents expressed WTP for the services， respectively. Occupational type， type of basic medical insurance， annual income， perception of pharmacists’ profession， and acceptance level of the service were identified as major influencing factors for WTP （P＜0.05）. CONCLUSIONS The willingness of residents in Urumqi to pay for medication counseling services provided by pharmacists in community pharmacies significantly increases with the enrichment of service content. It is recommended to incorporate basic medication counselling services provided by pharmacists in community pharmacies into medical insurance payment， while value-added services should be partially or fully self-paid by residents. Additionally， efforts should be made to strengthen the promotion of the professional and service value of licensed pharmacists， so as to facilitate the high-quality development of pharmaceutical care.

Social working memory (SWM)-the ability to maintain and manipulate social information in the brain-plays a crucial role in social interactions. However, research on SWM is still in its infancy and is often treated as a unitary construct. In the present study, we propose that SWM can be conceptualized as having two relatively independent components: "externally oriented SWM" (e-SWM) and "internally oriented SWM" (i-SWM). To test this external-internal hypothesis, participants were tasked with memorizing and ranking either facial expressions (e-SWM) or personality traits (i-SWM) associated with images of faces. We then examined the neural correlates of these two SWM components and their functional roles in empathy. The results showed distinct activations as the e-SWM task activated the postcentral and precentral gyri while the i-SWM task activated the precuneus/posterior cingulate cortex and superior frontal gyrus. Distinct multivariate activation patterns were also found within the dorsal medial prefrontal cortex in the two tasks. Moreover, partial least squares analyses combining brain activation and individual differences in empathy showed that e-SWM and i-SWM brain activities were mainly correlated with affective empathy and cognitive empathy, respectively. These findings implicate distinct brain processes as well as functional roles of the two types of SWM, providing support for the internal-external hypothesis of SWM.

AIM To establish a two reference substances for determination of multiple components(TRSDMC)method for the simultaneous content determination of neochlorogenic acid,chlorogenic acid,cryptochlorogenic acid,luteolin-7-O-glucuronide,isochlorogenic acid B,isochlorogenic acid A,isochlorogenic acid C,deoxyelephantopin,isodeoxyelephantopin,isoscabertopin and scabertopin in Elephantopus scabre L..METHODS The analysis was performed on a 35℃thermostatic Waters Symmetry C18,Phenomenex C18,Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse Plus C18 columns(4.6 mm×250 mm,5.0 μm),with the mobile phase comprising of acetonitrile and 0.1%phosphoric acid flowing at 1.0 mL/min in a gradient elution manner,and the detection wavelengths were set at 220,326 nm.Chlorogenic acid was used as an internal standard to calculate the relative correction factors of neochlorogenic acid,cryptochlorogenic acid,luteolin-7-O-glucuronide,isochlorogenic acid B,isochlorogenic acid A and isochlorogenic acid C,while isodeoxyelephantopin was used as an internal standard to calculate the relative correction factors of deoxyelephantopin,scabertopin and isoscabertopin,after which the content determination was made.Subsequently,cluster analysis,principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis were conducted.RESULTS Eleven constituents showed good linear relationships within their own ranges(r≥0.999 0),whose average recoveries were 95.3%-103.4%with the RSDs of 0.32%-3.45%.The result obtained by TRSDMC approximated those obtained by external standard method.Isochlorogenic acid A,isochlorogenic acid C,isochlorogenic acid B,chlorogenic acid,luteolin-7-O-glucuronide and cryptochlorogenic acid were taken as quality differential constituents.CONCLUSION This reliable and stable method can be used for the quality control of E.scabre.

Objective To assess the feasibility of sound touch elastography(STE)and sound touch quantify(STQ)in convex transducer and linear transducer for female levator ani muscles stiffness assessment.Methods A total of 69 healthy volunteers underwent STE and STQ examinations of the right levator ani muscles at three different locations(anterior,middle,and posterior)during rest,contraction,and stretch states.The study analyzed the success rate,variability,and measurements(Young's modulus)of the detection techniques,as well as assessed the inter-operator and intra-operator consistency.Results Both convex transducer STE and linear transducer STQ techniques exhibited higher overall success rates and lower variability in detecting the middle segment of the levator ani muscles compared to convex transducer STQ and linear transducer STE techniques,with statistically significant differences(all P<0.05).There was statistically significant difference in the measurements of levator ani muscles detected by convex transducer STQ technique and linear transducer STE technique(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the measurements of levator ani muscles detected by convex transducer STE technique and linear transducer STQ technique(P>0.05).The inter-operator and intra-operator consistency of convex transducer STE and linear transducer STQ technology were determined to be 0.869,0.919,0.772,0.850,respectively.Conclusion Both convex transducer STE and linear transducer STQ techniques demonstrate high success rates and low variability in assessing levator ani muscles stiffness,and there was no significant difference in the measurements of them,they were suitable for clinical promotion widely.

Objective To observe the effect of electric stimulation on nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB)/NOD-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)signaling pathway and microglial cell morphology in mice with lipopolysaccharide(LPS)induced chronic neuroinflammation,and to explore the protective mechanism of electric stimulation on brain of mice.Methods C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into blank control group(n=8),model group(n=12),sham electroacupuncture group(n=6)and electroacupuncture group(n=6).Except blank control group,mice in other groups were injected intraperitoneally with LPS(0.25 mg/kg)for 7 consecutive days.On the 8th day,mice in the sham electroacupuncture group and electroacupuncture group were treated with acupuncture or Zusanli electroacupuncture for 7 consecutive days.The mice were weighed before the experiment,on the 7th and 14th days.On the 13th day,the elevated cross maze test was performed on the mice.The open field test was performed on the 14th day.After the experiment,immunofluorescence assay was used to determine the expression of microglial ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule-1(Iba-1)in prefrontal cortex region.The mRNA expression of NF-κB,inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),Caspase-1 and interleukin(IL)-18 were detected by Real-time PCR.The protein expression levels of NF-κB,iNOS,NLRP3,apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD(ASC),Caspase-1,IL-1βand IL-18 were detected by Western blotting.Results Weight change,On the 7th day,compared with the control group,the body weight of mice in model group,sham electroacupuncture group and electroacupuncture group decreased(P＜0.0001),respectively;On the 14th day,compared with the control group,the weight of mice in the model group decreased(P＜0.0001);Compared with the sham electroacupuncture group,the body weight of mice in the electroacupuncture group increased(P＜0.05).Elevated cross maze experiment,compared with the control group,the total distance and open arm retention time of mice in model group decreased,while the closed arm retention time increased(P＜0.05).The open field experiment showed that compared with the control group,the model group mice showed a decrease in total distance traveled,slower movement speed,and fewer entries into the central area(P＜0.001);Compared with the model group,the electroacupuncture group showed an increase in all three indicators(P＜0.01);Compared with the sham electroacupuncture group,the total distance and motion speed of mice in electroacupuncture group both increased(P＜0.05).Immunofluorescence assay,compared with the control group,the relative fluorescence of Iba-1 in prefrontal cortex area of mice in model group increased(P＜0.05).Compared with the model and sham electroacupuncture group,the relative fluorescence of Iba-1 in prefrontal cortex area of mice in electroacupuncture group decreased(P＜0.05).Real-time PCR showed that compared with the control group,mRNA expressions of NF-κB,iNOS,TNF-α,Caspase-1 and IL-18 in the model group increased(P＜0.05);Compared with the model group,mRNA expressions of NF-κB,iNOS,TNF-α,Caspase-1 and IL-18 in electroacupuncture group decreased(P＜0.05).Western blotting indicated that compared with the control group,the protein expressions of NF-κB,iNOS,Caspase-1,IL-1β and IL-18 in model group increased(P＜0.05);Compared with model group,the protein expressions of NF-κB,iNOS,NLRP3,ASC,Caspase-1,IL-1β and IL-18 in electroacupuncture group decreased(P＜0.05);Compared with the sham electroacupuncture group,IL-18 protein in electroacupuncture group decreased(P＜0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture can improve the behavioral performance of mice and inhibit the activation of microglia in the cortical region of mice,which may play an anti-inflammatory and protective role by regulating NF-κB/NLRP3 pathway.
