To prevent heat injury among individuals working in high-temperature environments, monitoring their core temperature is of significant importance. This paper reviewed the current research status of measurement methods and prediction models for core temperature in such conditions. First, it highlighted the ongoing global increase in temperatures and the consequent rise in the risk of heat stroke among workers in high-temperature settings, underscoring the critical role of core temperature monitoring in occupational health protection. Next, it systematically introduced the application of rectal temperature measurement, capsule gastrointestinal temperature measurement, and heat flux method for core temperature assessment. Furthermore, it summarized the application status of widely used core temperature prediction models, such as Gagge model, Fiala model, the Predictive Heat Stress (PHS) model, the ECTempTM (the estimated core temperature) model, and the Heat Strain Decision Aid (HSDA) model, while also outlining recent advances in machine learning-based prediction models. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of various measurement methods and prediction models were comprehensively analyzed, and future directions for the development of core temperature prediction models were proposed. The findings indicate that rectal temperature measurement remains the most direct method for assessing core temperature; prediction models for core temperature in high-temperature environments have achieved considerable progress and have been applied in certain practical scenarios; and future efforts should leverage deep learning algorithms to analyze relevant data and develop more accurate core temperature prediction models.

Haglund syndrome (HS) is a common cause for posterior heel pain in ankle surgery, but the etiology of heel pain is so complicated that its pathogenic factors are currently unclear. For such diseases as posterior heel pain, conservative treatment should be carried out first. However, as their cause is not eliminated their symptoms are likely to recur. With the rapid development of biotechnology, imaging technology, and arthroscopy technology, biological therapy and minimally invasive surgery have gradually become the main treatments for HS. This review expounds on the factors, mechanisms, imaging diagnostic methods, options of conservative and surgical treatments concerning HS, hoping to help the clinical treatment of HS.

Aim To explore the key components and mechanisms of Lizhong decoction in treating rats with cold-damp diarrhea based on network pharmacology, molecular docking technology and animal experiments. Methods By literature review and database collec-tion,the components of Lizhong decoction, therapeutic targets, and the mapping with diarrhea disease targets were conducted to construct an intersection target pro-tein-protein interaction network for screening core tar-gets,and GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis was performed to build an"active component-target-pathway"network,followed by molecular docking vali-dation.Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into the normal control group(K),model group(DG),Lizhong decoction group(LZDG),and Pulsatilla decoction group(BTDG).Subsequently,a rat cold-damp diar-rhea model was established using Senna combined with low-temperature high-humidity environment, and the rats were intervened with Lizhong decoction and Pul-satilla decoction.HE staining was used to detect path-ological changes in intestinal tissue,ELISA was em-ployed to measure the levels of peripheral blood IL-6,IL-10,IL-1 β,and TNF-α,and western blot was used to determine the expression of colon tight junction pro-teins.Results Network pharmacology initially identi-fied 125 compounds in Lizhong decoction,5 186 drug target components,438 disease targets, and 60"drug-disease"shared targets.GO and KEGG enrichment a-nalysis showed that signaling pathways such as IL-17 and TNF were highly enriched.Molecular docking in-dicated that the core components of the drug had good binding activity with corresponding key targets.Liz-hong decoction could effectively improve the clinical symptoms of rats with cold-damp diarrhea, and com-pared with the DG group, the diarrhea rate, diarrhea in-dex,and other related indicators also gradually de-creased to normal levels.Compared with the DG group, the LZDG group showed reduced inflammation levels and a recovery in energy metabolism levels. Conclusion It can regulate targets such as MMP9 and IL-17 signaling pathways through multi-components like Calycosin and formononetin to exert its therapeutic effect on cold-damp diarrhea.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the short-term clinical efficacy of external fixation and internal fixation with steel plate in the treatment of unstable distal radius fractures (AO-23C type), based on the principles of Chinese osteosynthesis (CO).
METHODS:
Forty-eight patients with unstable distal radius fractures between January 2022 and February 2023 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the CO external fixation group and internal fixation group. CO external fixation group consisted of 25 patients, including 7 males and 18 females, aged from 37 to 56 years old with an average of ( 52.6±11.3) years old. Among them, there were 7 patients of traffic accidents and 18 patients of falls, resulting in a total of 25 patients of closed fractures and no open fractures, the treatment was conducted using closed reduction and CO external fixation. The internal fixation group consisted of 23 patients, comprising 8 males and 15 females, age ranged from 41 to 59 years old, with an average age of(53.3±13.7) years old. Among them, 8 patients resulted from car accidents while the remaining 15 patients were caused by falls. All 23 patients were closed fractures without any open fractures observed. The technique of open reduction and internal fixation with steel plate was employed. The perioperative data, including injury-operation time, operation duration, blood loss, and length of hospital stay, were assessed in both groups. Additionally, the QuickDASH score and visual analogue scale (VAS) were evaluated. Range of motion and grip strength assessment, imaging findings such as palmar inclination angle, ulnar declination angle, radius length, articular surface step, intra-articular space measurements were also examined along with any complications.
RESULTS:
The follow-up duration ranged from 0 to 24 months, with an average duration of (16.0±3.8) months. The CO external fixation exhibited significantly shorter time from injury to operation (2.4±3.3) d vs (7.4±3.7) d, shorter operation duration (56.27±15.23) min vs (74.10±5.26) min, lower blood loss (14.52±6.54) ml vs (32.32±10.03) ml, and reduced hospitalization days (14.04±3.24 )d vs (16.45±3.05) d compared to the internal fixation group (P<0.05). The QuickDASH score at 12 months post-operation was (8.21±1.64) in the CO external fixation group, while no significant difference was observed in the internal fixation group (7.04±3.64), P>0.05. There were no statistically significant differences in VAS between two groups at 6 weeks, as well as 1 and 3 months post-surgery (P>0.05). Additionally, there were no significant disparities observed in terms of range of motion and grip strength between two groups at the 2-year follow-up after the operation (P>0.05). After 12 months of surgery, the CO external fixation group exhibited a significantly smaller palmar inclination angle (17.90±2.18) ° vs (19.87±3.21) °, reduced articular surface step (0.11±0.03) mm vs (0.17±0.02) mm, and shorter radius length (8.16±1.11) mm compared to the internal fixation group (9.59±1.02) mm, P<0.05. The ulnar deviation angle and intra-articular space did not show any significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). The reduced fell within the allowable range between the CO external fixation group (23 out of 25 cases) and the internal fixation group (21 out of 23 cases) was not statistically significant (P=0.29). There was no significant difference in complications between the two groups(P>0.05).
CONCLUSION
Both the CO external fixation and open reduction with plate internal fixation demonstrate clinical efficacy in managing unstable distal radius fractures. The CO external fixation offers advantages in shorter injury-to-operation times, reduced intraoperative blood loss, and decreased surgical durations, while radial shortening is more effectively controlled by internal fixation.

OBJECTIVES:
To study the epidemiological characteristics of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in hospitalized children with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in Hebei Province.
METHODS:
Hospitalized children with CAP who tested positive for RSV and were admitted to Hebei Children's Hospital from various cities and counties across Hebei Province between January 2019 and December 2023 were included in the study. Clinical data were collected and analyzed to assess epidemiological characteristics.
RESULTS:
The clinical data of 43 978 children with CAP were collected, with an overall RSV detection rate of 25.98%. The detection rate was higher during the implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) (30.60%) than in the non-NPIs period. Winter and spring were the primary epidemic seasons for RSV each year except in 2022. The detection rate in males (26.62%) was higher than in females (25.06%) (P<0.001). The highest detection rate (59.18%) was found in infants aged 29 days to <1 year. Single RSV infection was more common, with rhinovirus being the most frequent co-infection.
CONCLUSIONS
The overall RSV detection rate in Hebei Province is influenced by NPIs, being higher during their implementation. RSV predominantly circulates in winter and spring. The detection rate of RSV is higher in males and infants. RSV infection is primarily single, most often co-occurring with rhinovirus.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2025;49(5):527-533
One of the key components of adsorbents for blood purification is the microsphere adsorbent. Microsphere adsorbents should meet the following requirements: stable physical and chemical structures, easy for functional modification to endow the adsorbents with specific adsorption functions or characteristics, with good biocompatibility and with low non-specific adsorption, as well as with enough mechanical strength. Microsphere adsorbents prepared from polysaccharide bio-based materials fulfill the above requirements and have been widely used in the field of blood adsorption. In this article, adsorbents prepared from polysaccharide bio-based materials such as cellulose, agarose, alginate, as well as adsorbents prepared from the aforementioned materials and carbon materials and the application of the said bio-based adsorbents in blood adsorption is reviewed. The future development is also discussed, aiming to provide guidance and reference for the preparation, functional modification and application research of bio-based adsorbents for blood adsorption.

Nonunion of osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVF), predominantly affecting the elderly, can lead to intractable pain, vertebral collapse, progressive kyphotic deformity, and neurological impairment, significantly compromising patients′ quality of life. There exists considerable debate on diagnosis and management of OVF, encompassing key issues such as clinical diagnosis and staging criteria for nonunion, surgical indications and procedure selection, and postoperative rehabilitation planning. Currently, there lacks standardized clinical guideline and expert consensus on the diagnosis and management of OVF nonunion in China. To address this gap, Minimally Invasive Surgery Group of Chinese Orthopedic Association, Osteoporosis Committee of Chinese Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, Prevention and Rehabilitation Committee for Osteoporosis of Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine and Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Surgery Branch of China Association for Geriatric Care jointly organized domestic experts in spinal surgery, endocrinology, and rehabilitation to formulate the Clinical guideline for the diagnosis and treatment for nonunion of osteoporotic vertebral fractures ( version 2025), based on existing literature and clinical experience and adhering to principles of scientific rigor and practicality. The guideline provided 13 evidence-based recommendations encompassing diagnosis and treatment of OVF nonunion, aiming to standardize its clinical management.

A novel analytical method was developed in this study by combining online solid phase extraction with ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(Online SPE-UPLC-MS/MS)for simultaneous determination of 50 kinds of steroid hormones in surface water.Specifically, after high-speed centrifugation of 4 mL water samples, the supernatant was directly injected into an Oasis HLB online SPE column for enrichment and purification.Subsequently, the target compounds were transferred to the analytical column via valve switching for separation and analysis. The chromatographic separation was performed on a Thermo Acclaim RSLC C18 column(100 mm×2.1 mm,2.2 μm),using a mobile phase composed of 5 mmol/L ammonium fluoride aqueous solution and acetonitrile.Mass spectrometric detection was conducted in positive ion mode, utilizing multiple reaction monitoring(MRM)with quantification achieved by the internal standard method. The method validation demonstrated that the limits of detection(LOD)for the 50 kinds of steroid hormones ranged from 0.02 to 0.50 ng/L,while the limits of quantification(LOQ)were between 0.08 and 1.67 ng/L.The average recoveries in surface water samples at spiked concentrations of 5,20 and 200 ng/L were between 74.1%and 119%,with relative standard deviations(RSDs)of 0.2%to 9.9%.This method was applied to analyze 11 surface water samples collected from sites surrounding a pharmaceutical and chemical industrial park.A total of 44 kinds of steroid hormones were detected, with concentrations ranging from 0.11 to 88.6 ng/L,revealing the presence of hormone contamination in the environmental waters surrounding industrial areas.Compared with the traditional offline SPE methods, the proposed online SPE technique significantly reduced sample volume requirements and pretreatment time, while minimizing the loss of target compounds during the pretreatment process. Moreover, compared to reported online SPE techniques, this method achieved high-throughput analysis of multiple classes of steroid hormones, with lower detection limits and higher recoveries.Overall, this method provided rapid sample preparation, high sensitivity, and excellent stability, making it suitable for the direct analysis of trace steroid hormones in surface water.
