Objective To explore the role of resilience and stress in childhood maltreatment and adolescent depression and anxiety symptoms, and to provide a basis for adolescent psychological intervention. Methods From September to October 2022, a total of 11 217 students from four middle schools in Changsha were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Depression–Anxiety–Stress Scales and the Resilience Scale for Chinese Adolescents were used to carry out online questionnaire survey. Results The detection rate of depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms in adolescent was 19.43% (2 179) and 28.7% (3 224). The direct effect of childhood maltreatment on depressive symptoms was significant (β =0.09), Childhood maltreatment is a negative prediction of resilience (β = -0.57) and a positive prediction of pressure (β =0.06); Resilience can negatively predict stress (β = -0.61) and depressive symptoms (β = -0.25) (all P values <0.001); The direct effect of childhood maltreatment on anxiety symptoms was significant (β =0.03), resilience negatively predicts anxiety symptoms (β = -0.08) (all P values <0.01). Resilience and stress have a partially mediating role between childhood maltreatment and depressive symptoms, the mediation effect value was 0.39, accounting for 81.25% of the total effect. The effect values of the three pathways accounted for 29.17%, 8.33% and 43.75% of the total effect, respectively. Resilience and stress have a partial mediating effect between childhood abuse and anxiety symptoms, and the mediating effect was 0.36, accounting for 92.31% of the total effect, and the effect values of the three pathways accounted for 12.82%, 10.26% and 69.23% of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion Childhood maltreatment could affect adolescents’ depression and anxiety through the chain mediating effect of resilience and stress.

Testicular histology based on testicular biopsy is an important factor for determining appropriate testicular sperm extraction surgery and predicting sperm retrieval outcomes in patients with azoospermia. Therefore, we developed a deep learning (DL) model to establish the associations between testicular grayscale ultrasound images and testicular histology. We retrospectively included two-dimensional testicular grayscale ultrasound from patients with azoospermia (353 men with 4357 images between July 2017 and December 2021 in The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China) to develop a DL model. We obtained testicular histology during conventional testicular sperm extraction. Our DL model was trained based on ultrasound images or fusion data (ultrasound images fused with the corresponding testicular volume) to distinguish spermatozoa presence in pathology (SPP) and spermatozoa absence in pathology (SAP) and to classify maturation arrest (MA) and Sertoli cell-only syndrome (SCOS) in patients with SAP. Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUCs), accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were used to analyze model performance. DL based on images achieved an AUC of 0.922 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.908-0.935), a sensitivity of 80.9%, a specificity of 84.6%, and an accuracy of 83.5% in predicting SPP (including normal spermatogenesis and hypospermatogenesis) and SAP (including MA and SCOS). In the identification of SCOS and MA, DL on fusion data yielded better diagnostic performance with an AUC of 0.979 (95% CI: 0.969-0.989), a sensitivity of 89.7%, a specificity of 97.1%, and an accuracy of 92.1%. Our study provides a noninvasive method to predict testicular histology for patients with azoospermia, which would avoid unnecessary testicular biopsy.

Hydronephrosis is a common urological disease, and pregnancy with hydronephrosis is also common. However,it is extremely rare that patients suffering from hydronephrosis after delivery cannot recover on their own. Moreover, due to the no specificity of clinical manifestations,it is easy to be ignored by clinicians. This paper reports a solitary kidney patient with severe dilatation and hydronephrosis of the kidney and ureter that were caused by late pregnancy, and the hydrops could not recover spontaneously after delivery. In addition, the methods of open surgery, ureteroscopy, and ureteral stent placement for many times in other hospital were ineffective for her.The purpose of this study is to improve the attention of clinicians to hydronephrosis during pregnancy and after delivery and provide the reference for clinical treatment.

Journal of International Oncology 2025;52(4):217-223
Objective:To analyze the incidence and mortality of pancreatic cancer in China from 1992 to 2021, and to explore the effects of age, period, and cohort on pancreatic cancer incidence and mortality. Methods:Data from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2021 database were used to analyze the incidence and mortality of pancreatic cancer in China from 1992 to 2021. The Joinpoint software was applied to analyze the time trends of standardized incidence and mortality rates, and to calculate the average annual percentage change. An age-period-cohort model was constructed to analyze the effects of age, period, and birth cohort on the trends of pancreatic cancer incidence and mortality. The disease burden of pancreatic cancer deaths attributed to risk factors such as hyperglycemia and smoking was analyzed. Results:In 2021, the incidence of pancreatic cancer in China was 8.34/100 000, and the mortality rate was 8.41/100 000, representing increases of 150.45% and 145.19%, respectively, compared to 1992 (3.33/100 000 and 3.43/100 000) . By sex, the incidence (9.93/100 000) and mortality (9.91/100 000) rates in males in 2021 were higher than those in females (6.68/100 000 and 6.83/100 000) . From 1992 to 2021, the standardized incidence and mortality rates of pancreatic cancer in China showed upward trends, with average annual increases of 0.80% and 0.62%, respectively, both of which were statistically significant (both P<0.001) . Age effect results indicated a general increasing trend in pancreatic cancer incidence, with a steady rise in the 15-49 age group, a sharp increase after the age of 50, and a peak in the over 85 age group at 68.64/100 000. The mortality rate showed a slow increase in the 15-79 age group, with a marked rise and peak in the 80-84 age group at 196.51/100 000. Period effect results showed an overall upward trend in the period relative risk ( RR) for pancreatic cancer incidence, with the highest risk in 2017-2021 ( RR=1.09, 95% CI: 1.05-1.13, P=0.012) , compared to the reference period 2002-2006 ( RR=1) . The RR for pancreatic cancer mortality showed a fluctuating trend, with the highest risk in 2012-2016 ( RR=1.60, 95% CI: 1.07-2.38, P=0.021) , compared to the reference period 2002-2006 ( RR=1) . The results of cohort effect showed that the incidence and mortality risk of pancreatic cancer in China generally increased with the increase of years. With the 1952-1956 birth cohort as the reference cohort ( RR=1) , the incidence ( RR=1.18, 95% CI: 0.99-1.40, P=0.032) and mortality ( RR=1.63, 95% CI: 0.12-11.53, P=0.042) risk of pancreatic cancer were the highest in the 1987-1991 birth cohort, and showed decreasing trends after the 1992-1996 birth cohort. The proportion of pancreatic cancer deaths attributable to high blood glucose showed an increasing trend, while those attributable to smoking showed a decreasing trend. Conclusions:From 1992 to 2021, the standardized incidence and mortality rates of pancreatic cancer in China have continued to rise, with males having higher incidence and mortality rates than females. Age, period, and cohort all significantly influence the trends in pancreatic cancer incidence and mortality. The trend in pancreatic cancer deaths attributable to high blood glucose is increasing.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the effectiveness of double joystick technique assisted closed reduction and Kirschner wire internal fixation in the treatment of Gartland type Ⅲ supracondylar fractures of the humerus (SCFH) in children.
METHODS:
A retrospective study was conducted on 28 cases of Gartland type Ⅲ SCFH with complete data available, who underwent closed reduction and Kirschner wire internal fixation with the double joystick technique between August 2022 and July 2024. There were 23 boys and 5 girls, with an average age of 6.4 years (range, 1-12 years). All fractures resulted from falls and were classified as extension-type. X-ray film showed the radial displacement of the distal fragment in 15 cases and unlar displacement in 13 cases. The interval from injury to operation was 3-36 hours (mean, 19.5 hours). X-ray film re-examination was conducted to evaluate the fracture healing, and the Baumann angle of affected elbow joint and carrying angle of bilateral elbow joints were measured. Elbow joint function was evaluated using the range of motion (flexion and extension) and the Flynn criteria. The above indicators were compared between affected and healthy sides.
RESULTS:
All operation were successfully completed. The operation time ranged from 15 to 40 minutes (mean, 25.2 minutes). The length of hospital stay was 2-5 days (mean, 3.5 days). All patients were followed up 3-24 months (mean, 11.8 months). X-ray film confirmed fracture healing in all patients, with a mean healing time of 5.4 weeks (range, 4-6 weeks). At last follow-up, the Baumann angle of the affected elbow joint was (73.50±3.46)°, and the carrying angle and the range of motion in flexion and extension of the affected elbow joint were significantly less than the contralateral side (P<0.05). According to the Flynn criteria, the elbow joint function of the affected elbow was evaluated as excellent in 25 cases and good in 3 cases, with an excellent and good rate of 100%.
CONCLUSION
The double joystick technique is a safe and effective method which can facilitate the closed reduction and Kirschner wire internal fixation of Gartland type Ⅲ SCFH in children without increasing risk of complications.

Combined vaccines can simplify the vaccination process, improve coverage rates, reduce the risk of adverse events following immunization, lower social costs, and improve the timeliness of childhood vaccination. This article focuses on multi-component vaccines based on the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis containing vaccine. Globally, multiple combined vaccines have been developed and marketed, but the development of combined vaccine is still in its infancy stage in China, with limited vaccine types and doses available. The research, development, and application of combined vaccines still face numerous challenges in China, including technical challenges in research and development, as well as insufficient motivation for research and development. Additionally, the high cost of existing combined vaccines, coupled with low public awareness and weak vaccination intentions, significantly hinders their widespread application, China should continue to rigorously implement the Vaccine Administration Law of the People's Republic of China, promote innovative development of combined vaccines, increase public awareness, strengthen child guardians' confidence in vaccination, and improve the accessibility and affordability of combined vaccines to protect public health across all life stages.

The health and well-being of the elderly have become a focal point for all sectors of society. As an effective means of preventing and controlling infectious diseases, vaccination plays a critical role in safeguarding human health. For older adults, timely and scientifically guided vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of serious illnesses while alleviating the associated economic burdens and pressure imposed on society. However, in practice, deficiencies in policy support, accessibility of vaccination services, and public awareness hinder some elderly individuals from fully benefiting from the protective effects of vaccines. This paper analyzes current vaccination practices for the elderly globally and proposes strategies to improve vaccination coverage, providing a scientific basis for advancing effective vaccination initiatives for this demographic in China.
