Objective:To explore the correlation between ferroptosis-related proteins SLC7A11, GPX4, ACSL4 and the radiosensitivity and prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. And to investigate the potential of these proteins as molecular markers for predicting the radiosensitivity of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 52 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (nasopharyngeal carcinoma group) and 20 cases of chronic nasopharyngiti s(control group). The relevant clinical data were reviewed, and paraffin-embedded tissue blocks were collected for study. The expressions of SLC7A11, GPX4, and ACSL4 in pathological specimens were detected by immunohistochemical staining. The expression differences of ferroptosis-related proteins between the nasopharyngeal carcinoma group and the control group were analyzed. The nasopharyngeal carcinoma group was further divided based on the protein expression levels into high and low expression subgroups for SLC7A11, GPX4, and ACSL4. Subsequently, a differential analysis of clinical data and survival analysis was conducted for each of these subgroups. Finally, logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing radiotherapy resistance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Results:①The differential analysis revealed that, compared to the control group, the nasopharyngeal carcinoma group exhibited significantly higher expression of SLC7A11 and GPX4, and lower expression of ACSL4 (P<0.05). ②Notably, the proportion of patients displaying radioresistance was higher in the SLC7A11 and GPX4 high expression groups compared to their respective low expression groups (P<0.05). However, the proportion of radioresistance in the ACSL4 high expression group was lower than that in the ACSL4 low expression group (P<0.05). Survival analysis indicated that the 5-year overall survival rate was lower in the SLC7A11 and GPX4 high expression groups compared to their respective low expression groups(P<0.05). However, the 5-year overall survival rate of the ACSL4 high expression group was higher than that of the ACSL4 low expression group(P<0.05). ③logistic regression analysis showed that SLC7A11 and GPX4 was an independent risk factor for radioresistance in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(P<0.05). Conclusion:Nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues over-express SLC7A11, GPX4, and under-express ACSL4. Over-expression of SLC7A11 and GPX4 are independent risk factors for radioresistance in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The inhibition of ferroptosis may be related to the occurrence, progression and radioresistance of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Detection of the expression of SLC7A11, GPX4, and ACSL4 has guiding significance for the evaluation of radiosensitivity and prognosis of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

OBJECTIVE To find out the relationship between mucoepidermoid carcinoma and Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection.METHODS Nested polymerase chain reaction (Nested PCR) was adapted to detect HPV DNA from 51 tissues of mucoepidermoid carcinoma using consensus primers, 9 tissues of chronic parotitis were as control.RESULTS HPV DNA was detected in 37 of total 51 mucoepidermoid carcinoma tissues, the detection rate was up to 72.5%, comparatively, it was 22.2% (2 of 9) in chronic parotitis tissues. The HPV DNA detection rate of mucoepidermoid carcinoma tissues was statistically higher than that of chronic parotitis tissues (χ2=8.517, P=0.004).CONCLUSION The results suggested that the HPV infection may cause mucoepidermoid carcinoma.

Objective To evaluate the safety of Renaissance spine robot assisted system in spinal injury. Methods From March 2014 to May 2016,38 patients with spinal disease received spinal surgery assisted by spine robot system. They were 20 males and 18 females, with an average age of 42 years (range, from 12 to 69 years). There were 10 lumbar fractures,8 thoracic fractures and 20 spinal deformities.Pedicle screw implantation was conducted in 30 patients (PS group) and percutaneous vertebroplasty in 8 (PV group). One side was chosen randomly to use Mazor spine robot assisted system (assisted group) and the opposite side the conventional method (non-assisted group). The anteroposterior and lateral X-rays and CT scan of the lumbar and/or thoracic spine were performed in all patients after surgery. The precision of pedicle screws implantation in PS group was evaluated by the Abul-Kasimhierarchy grading system;location of the puncture trajectory, time used for puncture and radiation exposure time in PV group were evaluated. Results 208 pedicle screws were implanted in PS group, including 120 lumbar ones and 88 thoracic ones. For lumbar pedicle screw implantation, the excellent to good rate was 95.0% (57/60) in the assisted group, significantly higher than that in the non-assisted group (80.0%,48/60) (P < 0.05).For thoracic pedicle screw implantation, the excellent to good rate was 95.5% (42/44) in the assisted group, significantly higher than that in the non-assisted group (77.3%,34/44) (P < 0.05).There were 24 puncture trajectories in 8 patients in PV group, showing no pedicle penetration or cement leaking in any case. The mean time used for puncture was 5.5 ± 1.4 min in the assisted group, significantly shorter than that in the non-assisted group (17.8 ± 7.5 min) (P < 0.05);the X-ray exposure time was 14.0 ± 4.0 s in the assisted group, significantly shorter than that in the non-assisted group (22.4 ± 6.0 s) (P < 0.05).Conclusions Renaissance spine robot-assisted system deserves more clinical application, because in spinal surgery it can make pedicle screw implantation more precise and safer, and can reduce operation time and X-ray exposure time in percutaneous vertebroplasty.

Objective To explore the association between the tag single nucleotide polymorphism (tag SNP) of the adenylyl cyclase 3 (ADCY3) and the essential hypertension (EH).Methods From April to July 2013,a total of 1 061 subjects diagnosed with EH and 1 218 control subjects were recruited from Ningbo,Zhejiang Province.Information was collected by face-to-face interview.Twelve tag SNPs were detected by ligase detection reaction technique. Results After adjusted for age, gender, body mass index and other related factors, logistic regression analysis showed that 3 loci (rs11689546,rs7593130,rs2241759) were associated with EH.AG genotype of rs11689546 was associated with 0.494 times lower risk of EH (OR =0.494,95% CI0.246-0.993;compared with AA genotype).CT genotype of rs7593130 was associated with 1.596 times higher risk of EH (OR =1.596,95% CI 1.009-2.524;compared with TT genotype),and CT/CC genotype of rs7593130 was associated with 1.627 times higher risk of EH (OR =1.627,95% CI 1.034-2.559;compared with TT genotype).AG genotype of rs2241759 was associated with 0.669 times lower risk of EH (OR =0.669,95% CI 0.503-0.891;compared with AA genotype),and CT/CC genotype of rs2241759 was associated with 0.687 times lower risk of EH (OR =0.687,95% CI 0.518-0.911;compared with TT genotype). Conclusion The polymorphisms of ADCY3 are associated with lower (G allele of the rs11689546 locus and G allele of the rs2241759 locus) or higher (C allele of the rs7593130 locus) risk of essential hypertension.
