Objective To introduce the modeling method of pendulum-like modified rat abdominal heart heterotopic transplantation model and evaluate the quality of the model. Methods An operator without transplantation experience performed 15 consecutive models, recorded the time of each step, changes in body weight and modified Stanford scores, and calculated the surgical success rate, postoperative 1-week survival rate and technical success rate. Ultrasound examinations was performed in 1 week postoperatively. Results The times for donor heart acquisition, donor heart processing, recipient preparation and transplantation anastomosis were (14.3±1.4) min, (3.5±0.6) min, (13.6±2.1) min and (38.3±5.2) min respectively. The surgical success rate was 87% (13/15), and the survival rate 1 week after operative was 100% (13/13). The improved Stanford score indicated a technical success rate of 92% (12/13), and the postoperative 1-week ultrasound examination showed that grafts with Stanford scores ≥3 had detectable pulsation and blood flow signals. Conclusions The pendulum-like modified rat abdominal heart heterotopic transplantation improved model further optimizes the operational steps with a high success rate and stable quality, may be chosen as a modeling option for basic research in heart transplantation in the future.

Tuberculosis is still the second leading cause of death from a single source of infection in the world. There is a two-way relationship between tuberculosis and the nutritional status of the body, which affects and causes each other.Vitamin D is an essential micronutrient, most research results show that vitamin D deficiency is common in tuberculosis patients, which is related to lack of sunlight, decreased dietary intake of vitamin D and anti-tuberculosis drug treatment.Low level vitamin D can increase tuberculosis susceptibility to some extent, but the research results are not completely consistent. This paper reviews the nutritional status of vitamin D in tuberculosis patients in recent years, the causes of vitamin D deficiency in tuberculosis patients and the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and susceptibility of tuberculosis,so as to provide references for further study on the role of vitamin D in tuberculosis prevention and treatment.

Objective To assess the clinical value of a novel surgical technique—Tubeless subxiphoid uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery with percutaneous suspension technique via balance-shaped sternal elevation device in the resection of anterior mediastinal masses. Methods Patients who underwent tubeless subxiphoid uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery via balance-shaped sternal elevation device in anterior mediastinal masses process at the Department of Thoracic Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University from March to April 2025 were included, and their clinical data were analyzed. Results A total of 4 patients were included, with 2 males and 2 females, aged 58-75 years. The diameter of the tumor was 2.5-3.0 cm. The operation time was 60.0-150.0 min, intraoperative blood loss was 5-10 mL, pain score on the 3rd day after surgery was 0 points, and postoperative hospital stay was 2-3 days. All patients achieved complete resection of the masses and thymus without perioperative complications. Conclusion The tubeless subxiphoid uniportal video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery with percutaneous suspension technique via balance-shaped sternal elevation device technique optimizes surgical visualization and instrument maneuverability while avoiding complications related to conventional anesthesia and tubing, thereby markedly enhancing the minimally invasive profile of anterior mediastinal masses resections. In addition to maintaining procedural safety, this approach effectively reduces postoperative pain and accelerates patient recovery, highlighting its potential for widespread clinical adoption.

Objective:To summarize and investigate the ultrasound manifestations, clinical characteristics, causes, and prognosis of hepatic portal vein gas (HPVG) after liver transplantation in children. Methods:A case series study. Clinical data of 9 pediatric recipients diagnosed with HPVG by ultrasound after liver transplantation between January 2012 and August 2023 were collected, and the ultrasound manifestations, causes, clinical features, and prognosis of HPVG were analyzed. Results:A total of 1,850 pediatric liver transplantations were performed during the same period in Tianjin First Central Hospital, among which 9 cases (0.48%) developed HPVG; 6 cases occurred within 1 month after surgery, and 3 cases occurred more than 1 month after surgery; the duration ranged from 2 to 15 days, with a median of 7 (4.5, 9.0) days. HPVG was first detected by ultrasound in all cases, with common ultrasound manifestations including bubble-like or punctate strong echoes flowing with blood in the portal vein, and patchy strong echoes with unclear borders in the liver parenchyma. Among the 9 patients, 3 had diarrhea with intestinal flora imbalance, 2 had abdominal distension with incomplete intestinal obstruction, 1 had colonic fistula with repeated replacement of Li's tube and concurrent abdominal distension, 1 was experiencing acute T-cell-mediated rejection of the transplanted liver, and the remaining 2 were asymptomatic. Patients with diarrhea and intestinal dysbiosis were treated with Bifidobacterium Lactobacillus triple viable tablets to regulate flora and montmorillonite powder to relieve diarrhea, which gradually subsided. Patients with abdominal distension and incomplete intestinal obstruction were treated with fasting, intravenous nutrition, and enema, and the obstruction gradually resolved, along with disappearance of HPVG.Conclusion:HPVG after liver transplantation has characteristic ultrasound manifestations, and its occurrence may be related to intestinal gas, obstruction, dysbiosis, or mucosal damage. Treatment may be conservative or surgical depending on the underlying cause and severity.

Objective Advances in synthetic DNA technology have made it much easier to fake human DNA samples. There are literature reports that fake human DNA can be synthesized by different methods and implanted in the field to confuse the investigation or mislead the trial. Therefore, distinguishing authentic human DNA from synthetic DNA and performing individual identification has become a critical scientific challenge. Methods We define a novel composite genetic marker(methylation-microhaplotype)by combining CpG sites stably hypermethylated or hypomethylated in natural human DNA and nearby immediately adjacent microhaplotype sites.A total of 19 locis were obtained according to the screening criteria, and a composite detection system for methylation-microhaplotypes was established using MPS technology.Random volunteer DNA samples were extracted and synthetic DNA samples were prepared based on whole genome amplification techniques.Population DNA samples were analyzed to evaluate forensic parameters and methylation variability of the methylation-microhaplotype markers.Comparative analyses of human and synthetic DNA were conducted to assess the markers'ability to discriminate between the two and to detect/type both components in mixed mixed samples. Results The composite detection system composed of 19 locis demonstrated high individual identification ability, achieving a cumulative individual identification probability of 0.999 999 999 996 86.12 hypermethylated locis and 7 hypomethylated locis had relatively stable methylation levels in 57 human DNA samples.According to the allele methylation rate(Ram)value, the system can effectively identify natural and synthetic DNA samples.Meanwhile, for mixed DNA samples, the presence of human and synthetic DNA samples can be found and genotyped. Conclusion Methylation-microhaplotype genetic markers, which can discover human DNA and synthetic DNA and can detect the presence and genotyping of them from mixed samples,is a potential useful tool for forensic DNA analysis.
