Objective:
To explore the intervention effects of different exercise modalities on executive function in school aged children, providing references for formulating exercise prescriptions to promote school aged children executive function.
Methods:
A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP and CBM to identify studies on the effects of exercises on executive function in school aged children. The search period spanned from the database inception to August 2025. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and evaluated the risk of bias of the included studies. Network Meta analysis was performed using Stata 16.0.
Results:
A total of 51 studies involving 5 710 school aged children and seven modalities of exercises(control group, small ball sports, large ball sports, aerobic exercise, combined exercise, sport game, gymnastic and dance sports) were finally included. Network Meta analysis showed that, in terms of inhibitory control development of school aged children, small ball sports ( SMD =-0.98,95% CI =-1.32 to -0.64 ), large ball sports ( SMD =-0.64,95% CI =-0.91 to -0.36), and mixed sports ( SMD =-0.26,95% CI =-0.50 to -0.02]) were more effective than the control group; in terms of working memory, largeball sports ( SMD =-1.26,95% CI =-1.88 to -0.65) and small ball sports ( SMD =-0.91,95% CI =-1.64 to -0.19) were superior to the control group; in terms of improving cognitive flexibility, large ball sports ( SMD =-1.02,95% CI =-1.28 to -0.76), gymnastics and dance sports ( SMD =-0.80,95% CI =-1.21 to -0.40), and small ball sports ( SMD =-0.75,95% CI =-1.15 to -0.36) were more effective than the control group (all P <0.05). Surface under cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA) showed that small ball sports had the highest value (SUCRA=98.9%) in improving inhibitory control, while large ball sports achieved the highest score(SUCRA=92.6%) in enhancing working memory, and large ball sports also had the highest value(SUCRA=94.7%) in promoting cognitive flexibility.
Conclusions
For developing inhibitory control in school aged children, small ball sports are recommended as a priority. For enhancing working memory and cognitive flexibility, large ball sports are recommended.
2.Comparison of bioelectrical impedance analysis and dual energy X ray absorptiometry in measuring body composition among Tibetan children and adolescents
Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(4):569-573
Objective:
To compare the consistency between bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and dual energy X ray absorptiometry (DXA) in measuring body composition among Tibetan children and adolescents and to explore the applicability of BIA in plateau region, so as to provide scientific and convenient body composition measurement support among children and adolescents.
Methods:
From May to June, 2022, a total of 344 Tibetan children and adolescents aged 6-17 years were selected from Golmud Municipal National Middle School and Changjiangyuan Nationality Primary School in Qinghai Province by cluster sampling method, and their fat mass, fat mass percentage and lean mass were measured by DXA and BIA. The consistency and correlation between the two methods were assessed by using the Wilcoxon rank-sum test, Spearman correlation analysis, intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and Bland-Altman analysis.
Results:
DXA measured fat mass and fat mass percentage were significantly higher than those obtained by BIA (6-12 years old: Z =9.91, 11.28; 13-17 years old: Z =9.02, 10.21), while lean mass and lean mass percentage were significantly lower than BIA results (6-12 years old: Z =-11.60, -11.30; 13-17 years old: Z =-10.77, -10.36) (all P < 0.05 ). The two methods showed strong correlations in fat mass and lean mass (all r >0.80, all ICC >0.90), but exhibited poor agreement in fat mass percentage and lean mass percentage (6-12 years old: Lin s CCC =0.64, 0.41; 13-17 years old: Lin s CCC = 0.79 , 0.35). Bland-Altman analysis showed that the difference between the two methods was negatively correlated with the average value in FM%(6-12 years old: r =-0.75, 13-17 years old: r =-0.79, both P <0.01).
Conclusion
BIA and DXA show high consistency in measuring body fat mass and lean body mass in Tibetan children and adolescents, although some bias is still present in certain individuals.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of SRS-Schwab grade 4 osteotomy and vertebral column resection (VCR) in the surgical correction of type II congenital kyphosis (CK).Methods:A retrospective review was conducted on clinical and radiographic data from patients with type II CK who underwent corrective surgery at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital between June 2008 and December 2021. Patients were divided into two groups based on the osteotomy technique employed: the VCR group (21cases) and the SRS-Schwab grade 4 osteotomy group (19 cases). Clinical parameters, including operative duration, estimated blood loss (EBL), number of segmentation failure levels, number of fused segments, and the use of anterior support cages, were compared between groups. Radiographic parameters included the number of segmentation fusion and measurements of segmental kyphosis (SK) preoperatively, postoperatively, and at the final follow-up. The degree and rate of SK correction were also calculated and compared. Complications such as neurophysiological monitoring events, neurological injury, implant breakage, proximal junctional kyphosis/lordosis (PJK/PJL), sagittal translation (ST), and implant failure were recorded. Additionally, SRS-22 questionnaire scores were assessed preoperatively, postoperatively, and at the latest follow-up.Results:A total of 40 patients were included, with a mean follow-up duration of 48.96±21.31 months (range, 24-96 months). Compared to the SRS-Schwab group, the VCR group had significantly more levels of segmentation defect (3.85±0.79 vs. 2.68±0.54), required more fused segments (8.00±2.23 vs. 5.47±2.04), had longer operative time (358.71±77.06 min vs. 212.52±77.05 min), and greater EBL (963.66±278.49 ml vs. 698.94±222.20 ml), all with statistically significant differences ( P<0.05). No significant differences were observed in local kyphotic angle, correction magnitude, or correction rate between groups postoperatively (P>0.05). Among patients with ≤48 months of follow-up, the SRS-Schwab group showed significantly lower SK (13.00°±16.28° vs. 34.00°±21.37°) and a higher correction rate (82.52%±21.40% vs. 52.84%±24.67%) at final follow-up ( P<0.05). However, no significant differences were observed in patients with >48 months of follow-up ( P>0.05), or in the overall cohort regardless of follow-up duration ( P>0.05). Complication rates were comparable between groups ( P>0.05). One neurophysiological monitoring event, 1 neurological injury, 3 cases of PJK, 1 case of PJL, 2 cases of ST, and 2 implant failures were observed in VCR group. The SRS-Schwab Grade 4 osteotomy group had 1 neurophysiological monitoring event, 1 neurological injury, 4 cases of PJK, 2 cases of ST, and 1 implant failure. The complication rates between the groups were not statistically different ( P>0.05). Both groups showed significant improvements in the self-image domain of the SRS-22 postoperatively and at the final follow-up ( P<0.05). In the function domain, both groups also demonstrated significant improvement at the final follow-up ( P<0.05), while the SRS-Schwab group showed earlier improvement at 3 months postoperatively ( P<0.05). Conclusions:SRS-Schwab grade 4 osteotomy provides comparable correction of segmental kyphosis to VCR but offers the advantages of significantly reduced blood loss and shorter operative time. Both surgical techniques effectively improve patients' quality of life.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease characterized by persistent inflammation and joint damage, accompanied by the accumulation of plasma cells, which contributes to its pathogenesis. Understanding the genetic alterations occurring during plasma cell differentiation in RA can deepen our comprehension of its pathogenesis and guide the development of targeted therapeutic interventions. Here, our study elucidates the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying plasma cell differentiation by demonstrating that PRDX1 interacts with DOK3 and modulates its degradation by the autophagy-lysosome pathway. This interaction results in the inhibition of plasma cell differentiation, thereby alleviating the progression of collagen-induced arthritis. Additionally, our investigation identifies Salvianolic acid B (SAB) as a potent small molecular glue-like compound that enhances the interaction between PRDX1 and DOK3, consequently impeding the progression of collagen-induced arthritis by inhibiting plasma cell differentiation. Collectively, these findings underscore the therapeutic potential of developing chemical stabilizers for the PRDX1-DOK3 complex in suppressing plasma cell differentiation for RA treatment and establish a theoretical basis for targeting PRDX1-protein interactions as specific therapeutic targets in various diseases.

The gut microbiota is a vast microbial ecosystem, specifically present in the organism and plays an important regulatory role in the body's health or disease state together with its metabolites. After spinal cord injury, the complex pathophysiology at the site of trauma makes axonal regeneration difficult, and the autonomic motor dysfunction induced by spinal cord injury disrupts gastrointestinal function and causes gut microbiota imbalance. The previous clinical outcomes of neurorepair strategies after spinal cord injury have not been ideal. The dysregulated gut microbiota and neuroinflammation after spinal cord injury are closely associated with the prognosis of the patients. The potential mechanisms by which the gut microbiota may influence the neuroinflammation after spinal cord injury may include the activation of gut-associated lymphoid tissue and disruption of the intestinal barrier by the imbalanced microbiota, and gut microbiota and its metabolites such as lipopolysaccharides(LPS),short chain fatty acids(SCFAs),5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),and tryptophan,as well as immune cells, inflammatory factors, and neurotransmitters the local inflammatory response in the spinal cord through the circulatory system. This paper revews the studies on the changes in gut microbiota after spinal cord injury and their effects on the spinal cord neuroinflammation, providing new targets and new ideas for improving the neuroinflammation after spinal cord injury.

The article reviews the clinical and mechanism researches of acupuncture-moxibustion in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in recent two decades at home and abroad. The results indicate that acupuncture-moxibustion is conductive to RA with fewer adverse reactions for the patients, and improves joint function and quality of life to a certain extent. The therapeutic results of acupuncture-moxibustion result from the multi-target, multi-level collaborative effect on RA. In mechanism, the overall regulation of the neuro-immuno-endocrine system is involved. RA is attenuated through inhibiting inflammatory responses, regulating relevant signaling pathways, maintaining the balance of osteoblasts and articular cartilage, and adjusting the gene expression. Although some achievements have been obtained in clinical and mechanism researches, it still needs to deepen the mechanism research so as to promote the clinical application of acupuncture-moxibustion and provide the new approaches to its innovation and development.

Objective: To observe the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) at Neiguan (PC6) on arrhythmia during acute myocardial ischemia-reperfusion and the expression of connexin 43 (Cx43) in rats. Methods: A total of 40 Sprague-Dawley male rats were used. Ten rats were randomly selected as the blank group, and the remaining 30 rats were randomly divided into a model group and an EA group, with 15 rats in each group. Before modeling, rats in the EA group received one session of EA intervention at bilateral Neiguan (PC6) for 30 min; the other groups were treated with the same grasping and anesthesia for 30 min without intervention. PowerLab physiological recorder was used to record electrocardiograph within 30 min of infarction. After the experiment, cardiac tissue and serum were collected from rats. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was used to observe the morphological changes of myocardial tissue in the ventricular infarction area of rats in each group. The expression of Cx43 protein in the myocardium of each group was detected by Western blotting (WB). Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase in myocardial tissue and the serum content of endogenous digitalis-like factor (EDLF) in rats. Results: There was no statistical difference in arrhythmia score between the EA group and the model group, but the total duration and average duration of arrhythmia in the EA group were decreased (P<0.01). HE staining showed that compared with the blank group, myocardial cells in the model group were disorganized and seriously damaged. The pathological changes in the EA group were similar to those in the model group, but the damage was relatively minor. The results of WB showed that compared with the blank group, the Cx43 expression in myocardial tissue of the model group was decreased (P<0.01); compared with the model group, the Cx43 expression in the EA group was increased (P<0.01); compared with the blank group, the Na+-K+-ATPase activity in myocardial tissue of the model group was significantly decreased (P<0.01); compared with the model group, the Na+-K+-ATPase activity in the EA group was increased (P<0.01). ELISA results showed that compared with the blank group, the serum EDLF content in the model group was significantly increased (P<0.01); compared with the model group, the EDLF content in the EA group was decreased (P<0.01). Conclusion: EA at Neiguan (PC6) can delay and reduce the onset of arrhythmia during myocardial infarction in the rat model of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion. Its mechanism of action may be related to the regulation of the Cx43 expression in myocardial tissue, improvement of the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase in myocardial tissue, and increase in the content of serum EDLF.
