Objective To investigate the clinical outcomes of cranioplasty with polyether ether ketone(PEEK)or titanium after large craniectomy in patients. Methods Clinical data of 150 patients undergoing skull repair due to large frontotemporal skull defect in our hospital from April 2018 to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into titanium mesh group and PEEK group according to different repair materials. The conditions of surgical site infection, bleeding, subcutaneous effusion, seizure, implant rupture or exposure in the two groups were compared. Results In the PEEK group,96.3%of patients needed to implant the repair material under the temporal muscle, which was significantly higher than that in the titanium mesh group(78.1%)(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in postoperative complications including infection, bleeding, seizure, implant rupture or leakage between the two groups(P>0.05).However,the incidence of postoperative subcutaneous effusion in PEEK group was higher than that in titanium mesh group(14.8%VS4.2%,P<0.05),and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Both titanium and PEEK can be used in cranioplasty for patients with large frontotemporal cranial defects.Subcutaneous effusion is common in patients underwent cranioplasty with PEEK postoperatively, which needs to be paid more attention.

Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is a condition comprising ectopic bone formation from spinal ligaments. This disease is a leading cause of myelopathy in the Asian population. However, the molecular mechanism underlying OPLL and efficient preventive interventions remain unclear. Here, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing and revealed that type I interferon (IFN) signaling was activated in the ossified ligament of patients with OPLL. We also observed that IFN-β stimulation promoted the osteogenic differentiation of preosteoblasts in vitro and activated the ossification-related gene SPP1, thereby confirming the single-cell RNA sequencing findings. Further, blocking the IFN-α/β subunit 1 receptor (IFNAR1) using an anti-IFNAR1 neutralizing antibody markedly suppressed osteogenic differentiation. Together, these results demonstrated that the type I IFN signaling pathway facilitated ligament ossification, and the blockade of this signaling might provide a foundation for the prevention of OPLL.

FRMD6, a member of the 4.1 ezrin-radixin-moesin domain-containing protein family, has been reported to inhibit tumor progression in multiple cancers. Here, we demonstrate the involvement of FRMD6 in lung cancer progression. We find that FRMD6 is overexpressed in lung cancer tissues relative to in normal lung tissues. In addition, the enhanced expression of FRMD6 is associated with poor outcomes in patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma (n = 75, P = 0.0054) and lung adenocarcinoma (n = 94, P = 0.0330). Cell migration and proliferation in vitro and tumor formation in vivo are promoted by FRMD6 but are suppressed by the depletion of FRMD6. Mechanistically, FRMD6 interacts and colocalizes with mTOR and S6K, which are the key molecules of the mTOR signaling pathway. FRMD6 markedly enhances the interaction between mTOR and S6K, subsequently increasing the levels of endogenous pS6K and downstream pS6 in lung cancer cells. Furthermore, knocking out FRMD6 inhibits the activation of the mTOR signaling pathway in Frmd6-/- gene KO MEFs and mice. Altogether, our results show that FRMD6 contributes to lung cancer progression by activating the mTOR signaling pathway.

Objective:To observe the expressions of SENP1, SENP2and SENP6proteins in human malignant glioma tissue and cells, and to elucidate the their effects in the development of malignant glioma. Methods:The samples of normal human brain tissue and malignant glioma tissue were obtained and used as normal control group and malignant glioma group, respectively. The Cos7cells and the malignant glioma LN443and U343cells were cultured;the Cos7cells were used as normal cell control group, and the LN443and U343cells as malignant glioma cell group.Western blotting method was used to detect the expression levels of SENP1, SENP2and SENP6proteins in human malignant glioma tissue and cells. Results:In brain tissue, the expression levels of SENP1, SENP2and SENP6proteins in malignant glioma group were higher than those in normal control group (P<0.05) .Compared with normal cell control group, the expression levels of SENP1, SENP2and SENP6proteins in the LN443and U343cells in malignant glioma cell group were significantly increased (P<0.05) .Conclusion:SENP1, SENP2and SENP6proteins highly express in the malignant glioma tissue and cells, and they may play an important role in promoting the occurrence of malignant glioma.

Objective To explore the effect of the continuous care mode based on Omaha system in child patients who under -went nephrostomy. Methods A total of 42 child patients with congenital hydronephrosis who underwent nephrostomy in the hospital from July to December in 2016 were enrolled as the experimental group that received continuous care mode based on Omaha system in addition to routine care. From January to June,2016,a total of 48 child patients, who were initially confirmed to have congenital hy-dronephrosis and underwent nephrostomy, were recruited as the control group that received routine nursing and medical follow -ups in ac-cordance with clinical treatment path.Intervention effects and management ability of patient home care were compared between the 2 groups. In the 42 child patients with nephrostomy, nursing intervention by using Omaha system was given from the perspectives of envi-ronment,social psychology, physical and health-related behaviors to assess common nursing problems. The scores both before and after intervention were obtained and analyzed by using SPSS 19.0 statistical software. Results There was statistical significance in the scores of recognition and behavior, except interpersonal relationship for the experimental group, when comparisons were made between pre and post intervention(P<0.05).SAS scores of the experimental group(39.35 ±7.18)3 months after discharge from hospital were lower than those of the control group(44.80 ±8.16),and statistical significance could be found, when comparisons were made between them(P<0.05).For the experimental group, incidence of urinary tract infection was lower and the management ability of patient home care was obviously superior as compared with those of the control group, also with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion In child patients with congenital hydronephrosis after nephrostomy, comprehensive assessment could be made from the perspectives of physiolo-gy,psychology and social relationship, thus facilitating the development of related continuous nursing intervention protocol. In short,it was beneficial to the integration, analysis and utilization of information concerning nursing and the continuous patient home care and could be an effective tool for continuous management of the disease.

Objective:To summarize the clinical characteristics of the patients suffering from sudden senserineural hearing loss (SSNHL) with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV),and to investigate the possible pathogenesis. Methods:The clinical materials of thirsty-five patients with SSNHL complicated with vertigo were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical information, including the traits of vertigo and prognosis of hearing loss of the patients in SSNHL with BPPV group (n=9),and SSNHL with non-BPPV group (n=26) were compared. Results:All patients had profound hearing loss and unsatisfied prognosis of hearing loss, and the response rate was 17.1%,the effective rate was 11.4%,and the curative rate was 5.7%.25.7% of all cases were diagnosed of BPPV by medical history and postural tests, who had heavier hearing loss than the others. And BPPV comlicated with SSNHL was often found within 1 week after the hearing loss (average value:4.1 d),and all on the same side with the hearing loss ear.BPPV tended to happen in total deafness (6 cases,66.7%) and flat type (3 cases,33.3%),and were often involved in horizontal semicircular canal (6 cases,66.7%) and posterior semicircular canal (3 cases,33.3%).The patients with SSNHL complicated with BPPV needed more times of reduction maneuver (average value:2.3 times),with a satisfied therapeutic effect for reducing the vertigo of the patients. Conclusion:SSNHL complicated with BPPV has a high morbidity in the patients with heavy hearing loss, and often affect the horizontal semicircular canal, which needs the repeated reduction maneuver.
