Objective:To explore the changes in nutritional status and body composition of cervical cancer patients during concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT) and their correlation with CCRT toxicities.Methods:In this prospective and observational clinical study, eligible treatment -na?ve patients with stage IB-IV primary cervical cancer were consecutively enrolled in the Department of Radiotherapy of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from September 2022 to August 2023. The patients were screened for nutritional risks, received dietary assessment, and were measured for body composition using multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance at baseline (prior to treatment), 4 weeks, and 8 weeks since treatment initiation. Insufficient muscle mass was diagnosed ccording to the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 criteria. The severity of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and hematological toxicity was assessed by the U.S. National Cancer Institute Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (version 5.0).Results:A total of 109 patients were included. At baseline, there were 11 (10.1%) patients who were lean, 17 (15.6%) patients with insufficient muscle mass, and 28 patients (25.7%) at nutritional risk; at Week 8 of CCRT, patients at nutritional risk increased to 61 (56.0%). Compared to baseline, weight [(59.34±9.67) kg vs. (61.30±9.64) kg, P<0.001], skeletal muscle index [SMI, (6.15±0.74) kg/m 2vs. (6.39±0.74) kg/m 2, P<0.001], body fat percentage [(31.13±7.67) % vs. (32.07±7.70) %, P=0.004] were significantly decreased at Week 8 of CCRT. Besides, ≥10% SMI loss was only related to baseline body fat percentage ( HR=0.216, 95% CI: 0.001-0.724, P=0.038), but not related to age, nutritional status, or muscle mass (all P>0.05). At baseline and 8 weeks since CCRT, 8 (28.6%) and 40 (65.6%) patients at nutritional risk received nutritional support, respectively. During CCRT, the rates of grade ≥2 nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, and grade 3/4 hematological toxicity were 37.6%, 28.4% and 44.0%, respectively. Baseline nutritional risk was a risk factor for diarrhea ( HR=2.447, 95% CI: 1.017-6.068, P=0.047), and an advanced International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) stage was a risk factor for severe nausea and vomiting ( HR=1.735, 95% CI: 1.005-2.995, P=0.048). Patients presenting with severe nausea and vomiting had more significant reductions in body mass index [(-1.44±1.29) kg/m 2vs. (-0.59±0.84) kg/m 2, P<0.001] and SMI [(-0.37±0.41) kg/m 2vs. (-0.12±0.27) kg/m 2, P=0.013] compared to those without nausea and vomiting, while there was no significant difference in visceral fat area between these two groups [(-9.95±19.48) cm 2vs. (-5.12±15.79) cm 2, P=0.161]. Conclusions:Patients with cervical cancer have increased nutritional risk and more loss of body weight and muscle mass during CCRT. The presence of nutritional risk at baseline is a risk factor for diarrhea, while nausea and vomiting exacerbate the losses of body weight, muscle, and fat. Close monitoring, intensive symptomatic therapy, and appropriate nutritional interventions should be performed in the clinical setting to improve patients' tolerance of treatment and maintenance of body weight.

Objective:To evaluate and summarize the teaching effect of" New Technology of Radiotherapy and Oncology" in the form of questionnaire, understand the degree of demand for the course of all kinds of medical students and improve the teaching contents and methods.Methods:The course of" New Technology of Radiotherapy and Oncology" was a specialized elective course in Peking Union Medical College. After two rounds of teaching practices, we evaluated the students participating in the course or non-course participants by anonymous questionnaire. The questionnaire items include the course content, setting, teachers and improvement suggestions.Results:A total of 73 questionnaires were sent out, and the recovery rate was 100%. Among them, 52(71%) were from students who chose the courses. 83% of the students" strongly agree" that the teaching content of this course is the latest development, the latest achievement or the problem to be solved, 94% were" satisfied" or" very satisfied" with their learning effect, and 92% and 83% were satisfied with the teachers and teaching plan, respectively. After taking the course, students rated" broadening of mind" (96%) as the biggest gain, followed by" facilitating interdisciplinary collaboration" (79%). 86% of the non-course participants felt the need to supplement the existing curriculum with new techniques in oncology radiotherapy, hoping that the curriculum would" broaden the mind" (76%), improve clinical application (81%) and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration (71%).Conclusion:The questionnaire results show that the teaching practice of this course covers the different needs of all kinds of students, which is worthy of implementation and further improvement.

Objective:To compare the prognoses between parameningeal and non-parameningeal head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma based on propensity score matching and to explore the prognostic factors of overall survival in patients with head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma.Methods:The medical records of 64 patients with pathologically diagnosed as head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma from January 2016 to May 2020 in Peking Union Medical College Hospital were retrospectively retrieved, including 31 males and 33 females, with an average age of (8.0±8.9) years. Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw and compare survival curves in subgroup analysis according to different histopathological characteristics. Patients were divided into non-parameningeal (27 cases) and parameningeal (37 cases) group based on the location of primary lesion. Patients were further selected using 1∶1 propensity score matching method. The basic clinical data and overall survival were compared before and after matching. Prognostic factors were anlysed using Cox′s proportional hazards regression model.Results:In 64 patients with head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma, lower risk stratification, and lower TNM stage indicated higher overall survival (all P<0.05). Before matching, patients in parameningeal group presented with higher T stage and IRS (Intergroup Rhabdomyosarcoma Study) staging (all P<0.05). There were no significant differences in basic clinical data and 1-, 2-, and 3-year overall survival rates between two groups after matching( P>0.05). Tumor size smaller than 5 cm, embryonal histology, negative FOXO1 fusion gene, lower risk stratification, and lower TNM stage were associated with higher overall survival (all P<0.05). Among these, tumor size and histology were independent prognostic factors ( HR=2.36, 95% CI:1.07-5.20, P=0.033; HR=5.54, 95% CI: 1.18-25.95, P=0.030). Conclusions:There is no significant difference in overall survival between patients with parameningeal and non-parameningeal rhabdomyosarcomas. Tumor size smaller than 5 cm and embryonal histology are two independent prognostic factors.

Objective:To investigate the anxiety and depression of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy during the epidemic of COVID-19.Methods:By using self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale, a cross-sectional survey was conducted during the COVID-19 epidemic period.Results:During the COVID-19 epidemic period, the incidence of anxiety and depression in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy was 15.8% and 27.7% respectively, of which 12.9% suffered from both anxiety and depression. The average scores of anxiety and depression were 49.4(25/76) and 46.4(25/83), respectively, which were higher than those of the domestic norm. Age is a contributing factor for anxiety, and patients living in urban are more likely to experience depression.Conclusions:The prevalence of anxiety and depression of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy are higher than healthy people during the COVID-19 outbreak. We should pay more attention to the psychological states of the cancer patients.

Objective To investigate the quality of life, sexual quality of life and its influencing factors in cervical cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Methods Pre-menopausal patients of 87 cases were diagnosed with cervical cancer treated with radiotherapy at Peking Union Medical College Hospital from December 2013 to December 2018 were recruited in this study. The functional assessment of cancer therapy-cervix ( FACT-Cx V4. 0) and the female sexual function index ( FSFI) were evaluated. Demographic and treatment data were collected. The influencing factors were analyzed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results The total score of quality of life was 114( 100-126) , 19( 16-21) for physiology, 21( 18-24) for social/family, 19( 17-21 ) for emotion, 19 ( 14-22 ) for function and 39 ( 34-43 ) for additional attention, respectively. The end time of radiotherapy was the influencing factor of the total score ( P= 0.034 ) , physiology ( P=0) and function ( P=0.008) . Family was the influencing factor of social family dimension ( P=0.010) . The total score of FSFI was 8.0( 5.0-20.5) , 1.8( 1.2-3.0) for sexual desire, 1.5( 0-2.7) for sexual arousal, 0.3( 0-3.6) for vaginal lubrication, 0( 0-3.6) for orgasm, 3.2( 2-4) for satisfaction and 0( 0-3.6) for sexual pain, respectively. The total score was less than 27 in 97%( 84/87) of the patients and had sexual dysfunction. Age was the influencing factor of sexual arousal ( P=0.005) and vaginal lubrication ( P=0.039) . Occupation was the influencing factor of sexual pain ( P=0.004) . Conclusions The quality of life of premenopausal patients with cervical cancer is affected by multiple factors. Radiotherapy-related complications should be actively treated to improve the quality of life and sexual life of patients.
