Neurodegenerative disorders (NDDs) are prevalent chronic conditions characterized by progressive synaptic loss and pathological protein alterations. Increasing evidence suggested that mitochondrial quality control (MQC) serves as the key cellular process responsible for clearing misfolded proteins and impaired mitochondria. Herein, we provided a comprehensive analysis of the mechanisms through which MQC mediates the onset and progression of NDDs, emphasizing mitochondrial dynamic stability, the clearance of damaged mitochondria, and the generation of new mitochondria. In addition, traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) and their active monomers targeting MQC in NDD treatment have been demonstrated. Consequently, we compiled the TCMs that show great potential in the treatment of NDDs by targeting MQC, aiming to offer novel insights and a scientific foundation for the use of MQC stabilizers in NDD prevention and treatment.

By aggregating the essence of theories related with depressive syndrome from historical medical practitioners and based on the extensive clinical experience, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)master Lin Yi proposed the theory of six-stagnation-based breast disease prevention and treatment. She pointed out that the occurrence of breast diseases is related to six stagnations(qi stagnancy, blood stagnancy, phlegm stagnancy, dampness stagnancy, food stagnancy, and fire stagnancy),and the treatment for breast diseases should start from the six stagnations. The development and progression of breast cancer is closely associated with the imbalance of internal environment and the formation of six stagnations, and breast cancer is one of the major diseases suitable for the TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. For the treatment of early breast cancer,Professor Lin Yi proposed to divide early breast cancer into four stages, namely perioperative period,peri-chemotherapy period,peri-radiotherapy period, and consolidation period.Guided by the theory of six-stagnation-based breast disease prevention and treatment, therapies of soothing the liver, resolving phlegm, removing stasis, clearing heat, eliminating dampness, promoting digestion, fortifying the spleen, and tonifying the kidney are employed to harmonize the internal environment and alleviate symptoms. The theory of six-stagnation-based breast disease prevention and treatment enriches the TCM theory for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer, refines the principles and methods for the staging and syndrome differentiation of early breast cancer, and holds significant implications for enhancing the efficacy of integrated TCM and western medicine in managing early breast cancer.

The incidence of orthopedic trauma-related diseases keeps rising annually, which brings an urgent need to optimize the diagnostic and treatment processes to enhance treatment efficiency and improve patients′ prognosis. Traditional diagnostic methods in traumatic orthopedics primarily rely on manual film interpretation and classification, resulting in a substantial workload for physicians and consequently a low efficiency. Furthermore, during multidisciplinary consultations and cross-hospital referrals for patients with orthopedic trauma, accessing medical records and facilitating information exchange can be challenging, leading to delays in surgical intervention. The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, characterized by feature engineering, artificial neural networks, and deep learning, has transformed the landscape of rapid diagnosis and precision treatment for orthopedic trauma. Nonetheless, centralized storage during task training poses risks of privacy disclosure and security concerns that impede the widespread application of AI models. In contrast, the decentralized nature of blockchain technology offers a secure operational environment for AI-driven diagnostics and treatments and the integration of blockchain and AI can deliver more accurate, efficient, and safe services for patients with orthopedic trauma. Currently, challenges remain in the inter-institutional sharing of data, constant phenomenon of data silos and absence of standardized protocols for developing collaborative models in clinical settings. To address these challenges, the authors reviewed the research advancements in integrated application of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence in diagnosing and treating orthopedic trauma, aiming to provide insights into the development of a digital diagnostic system tailored to this field in China.

Heart failure(HF)is a highly morbid syndrome that seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients and generates an enormous socio-economic burden. In addition to cardiac myocyte oxidative stress and apoptosis, which are considered mechanisms for the development of HF,alterations in cardiac energy metabolism and pathological autophagy also contribute to cardiac abnormalities and ultimately HF.Silent information regulator 1(Sirt1)and adenosine monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK)are nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)-dependent deacetylases and phosphorylated kinases, respectively. They play similar roles in regulating some pathological processes of the heart through regulating targets such as peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ coactivator 1α(PGC-1α),protein 38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK),peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors(PPARs),and mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR).We summarized the synergistic effects of Sirt1 and AMPK in the heart, and listed the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)that exhibit cardioprotective properties by modulating the Sirt1/AMPK pathway,to provide a basis for the development of Sirt1/AMPK activators or inhibitors for the treatment of HF and other cardiovascular diseases(CVDs).

In view of the difficulties and blind spots of western medicine, how to make scientific decisions to standardize the treatment of breast cancer in traditional Chinese medicine and improve the participation of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of breast cancer is an important focus of innovative breakthroughs in breast cancer treatment. Based on the clinical experience of Professor LIN Yi, a master of traditional Chinese medicine, and on the basis of "disease identification and syndrome differentiation", this paper summarizes and refines the status of qi and blood imbalance, accumulation of phlegm and blood stasis, viscera deficiency, and cold heat cementation in breast cancer, and further proposes the "six views" of breast cancer balanced treatment: the pathogenesis view focuses on "evil invasion due to vital qi deficiency, and the proliferation of tumors", and the pathogenesis view focuses on "cancer toxin and imbalance of yin and yang", the diagnostic view focuses on "examining the underlying factors and understanding the causes and effects", the differentiation view focuses on "balancing qi, blood, yin, and yang to achieve harmony", the therapeutic view focuses on "supporting vital qi and eliminating evil, and considering the root cause and syndromes", and the rehabilitation view focuses on "adjusting balance to maintain a stable state". We are committed to holistic syndrome differentiation and treatment, balancing yin, yang, qi, and blood, thereby harmonizing the internal environment of the human body, and mobilizing the immune and rehabilitation functions of the body.
