Objective:To analyze the clinicopathological characteristics and prognostic factors of patients with Castleman disease (CD).Methods:A retrospective case-series study was conducted. A total of 85 patients newly diagnosed with CD in the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University between July 2007 and August 2024 were collected. Their clinical characteristics and prognostic factors were analyzed. Results:Among the 85 patients, 45 had unicentric Castleman disease (UCD) and 40 had multicentric Castleman disease (MCD). In the UCD group, females were more commonly affected (64.4%, 29/45), with a median age of onset of 39 years. The primary lesions were mainly located in the retroperitoneum, neck, abdomen, and axilla; and the hyaline vascular subtype was the predominant pathological type (69.4%, 25/36). In the MCD group, males were more frequently affected (62.5%, 25/40), with a median age of onset of 50 years; and the plasmacytic subtype was the main pathological type (68.2%, 15/22). Compared with UCD patients, MCD patients presented more systemic symptoms and signs [85.0% (34/40) vs. 13.3% (6/45), χ2 = 43.66, P < 0.001], splenomegaly [42.5% (17/40) vs. 2.2% (1/45), χ2 = 20.58, P < 0.001], hepatomegaly [25.0% (10/40) vs. 0 (0/45), χ2 = 10.46, P = 0.001], edema or effusion in serous cavity [67.5% (27/40) vs. 8.9%(4/45), χ2 = 31.40, P < 0.001], hematological system involvement [32.5% (13/40) vs. 0 (0/44), χ2 = 16.92, P < 0.001], and renal involvement [22.5% (9/40) vs. 2.3%(1/44), χ2 = 6.36, P = 0.012]. Laboratory findings showed that the levels of hemoglobin and albumin in MCD patients were lower than those in UCD patients, while white blood cell count in MCD patients was higher than that in UCD patients. Additionally, MCD patients exhibited elevated levels of C-reactive protein, interleukin-6, vascular endothelial growth factor, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and ferritin compared to UCD patients (all P < 0.05). Among UCD patients, 40 cases underwent simple surgical resection, with no deaths during follow-up and the 5-year overall survival (OS) rate of 100.0%; among MCD patients, 34 cases received chemotherapy, 4 received siltuximab, 3 died during follow-up with a 5-year OS rate of 87.5%; and there was no statistically significant difference in OS between the MCD and UCD groups ( χ2 = 3.67, P = 0.055). Among MCD patients, the OS of those with renal involvement (9 cases) was worse than that of those without renal involvement (31 cases) ( χ2 = 8.39, P = 0.004). Conclusions:CD is a highly heterogeneous disorder. Surgical resection is the primary treatment for UCD, with a favorable prognosis. Chemotherapy is the main treatment for MCD, with a relatively poor prognosis.

Intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR),which refers to the failure of the fetus to achieve ad-equate growth potential,is a common complication of pregnancy. The disease seriously affects fetal growth and development, increases the risk of fetal and neonatal complications and death, and easily causes adverse perina-tal outcomes such as fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia.Children with IUGR have a high risk of lifelong neu-rodevelopmental consequences such as cognitive deficits, cerebral palsy, behavioral problems, learning and con-centration difficulties.Currently, there is no definite treatment method to protect neonates with IUGR from adverse neurological consequences.Early and accurate identification and intervention to promote neurodevelop-ment are essential to improve poor outcomes in neonates with IUGR.In addition,IUGR can also affect blood flow in the fetal brain, change the structure of the ventricles, affect brain functions and change molecular dy-namics indicators in the brain. The purpose of this article is to summarize the progress of research on fetal neurodevelopment of IUGR in recent years, and to review how IUGR affects fetal neurodevelopment and the corresponding diagnostic monitoring methods,so as to provide new ideas for further determining the plan to improve the long-term poor neurological prognosis.

Objective:To conduct meta analysis to compare the effect of complete resection with or without postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) on survival in stage Ⅲ(N 2) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods:Relevant studies of the efficacy of PORT for stage Ⅲ(N 2) NSCLC were searched from Wanfang Data, PubMed, and Cochrane Library from January 2006 to January 2022. Literature screening, extraction of information and assessment of the risk of bias of the included literature was carried out by two independent researchers. Meta analysis was performed using R4.0.3 software. Results:A total of 12 publications consisting of 2992 patients were included, 1479 cases in the PORT group and 1513 cases in the control group. PORT improved the overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) compared to the control group. Fixed-effects model meta analysis of 6 randomized controlled trials showed that PORT did not significantly reduce the risk of death ( HR=0.98, 95% CI: 0.80-1.20). Fixed-effects model meta analysis of 6 retrospective studies showed that PORT improved prognosis ( HR=0.68, 95% CI: 0.59-0.79). PORT could improve OS of patients with multiple (station) metastasis of ipsilateral mediastinum and / or submandibular lymph nodes ( HR=0.89, 95% CI: 0.80-0.99). Conclusions:PORT could improve OS and DFS in stage Ⅲ(N 2) NSCLC. A trend towards benefit can be observed in the subgroup with multiple/multi-station N2 metastasis.

Chinese Journal of Urology 2022;43(8):628-631
Male sex differentiation is driven by 2 hormones produced by the fetal testis, testosterone and anti-Müllerian hormone(AMH), responsible for the regression of müllerian ducts in male fetuses. Mutations inactivating AMH or its receptor AMHR2 lead to the persistent müllerian duct syndrome(PMDS) in otherwise normally virilized 46, XY males. Further assessment was carried out when suspicion of PMDS arose from physical examination which revealed that the testis crossed to the contralateral side of the body. Further examination include ultrasound, AMH concentration, karyotype, and gene sequencing. Once PMDS is considered, there is no need to perform the gonads biopsy. The optical surgery methods include one-stage cryptorchidism and hernia curation, and at the same time.Stripping/destroying the mucosa of the retained müllerian remnants to reduce the risk of malignancy and, simultaneously, to prevent the damage to vas deference.

Cancer Research and Treatment 2021;53(2):506-527
Purpose:
C5α receptor 1 (C5ΑR1) is associated with the development of various human cancers. However, whether it is involved in the development of hepatitis B virus (HBV)–related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is poorly understood. We explored the expression, biological role, and associated mechanisms of C5AR1 in HBV-related hepatoma cells.
Materials and Methods:
The expression of C5ΑR1 mediated by HBV and HBV core protein (HBc) was detected in hepatoma cells. The function of nuclear factor кB (NF-κB) pathway in HBc-induced C5AR1 expression was assessed. The roles of C5ΑR1 in the activation of intracellular signal pathways, the upregulation of inflammatory cytokines, and the growth and migration of hepatoma cells mediated by HBc, were investigated. The effect of C5α in the development of HCC mediated by C5AR1 was also measured.
Results:
C5ΑR1 expression was increased in HBV-positive hepatoma cells. Dependent on HBc, HBV enhanced the expression of C5ΑR1 at the mRNA and protein levels. Besides, HBc could promote C5ΑR1 expression via the NF-κB pathway. Based on the C5ΑR1, HBc facilitated the activation of JNK and ERK pathways and the expression and secretion of interleukin-6 in hepatoma cells. Furthermore, C5ΑR1 was responsible for enhancing the growth and migration of hepatoma cells mediated by HBc. Except these, C5α could promote the malignant development of HBc-positive HCC via C5AR1.
Conclusion
We provide new insight into the mechanisms of hepatocarcinogenesis mediated by HBc. C5ΑR1 has a significant role in the functional abnormality of hepatoma cells mediated by HBc, and might be utilized as a potential therapeutic target for HBV-related HCC.
