Background Microparticles (MPs) are one of the main medium of inflammatory reaction with an important role in atherosclerotic progression. Studies on association of air pollution exposure and levels of peripheral blood MPs are limited among human. Objective To evaluate the effects of short-term exposure to air pollution on levels of peripheral blood MPs. Method A panel of 73 healthy adults was followed with 4 repeated follow-ups in Beijing, China, from November 2014 to January 2016. During each visit, we collected questionnaire information, fasting venous blood, urine, and exposures to fine particulate matter (PM2.5), black carbon, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone. We used linear mixed-effect models to analyze associations of air pollution exposure with levels of total MPs (TMPs) and MPs derived from various cells. Stratified analysis was conducted by levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) and malondialdehyde (MDA). Results The results showed significant associations between air pollution exposure and peripheral blood TMPs at 2 h-6 d prior to the follow-ups (P<0.05), while no statistical associations were found for MPs derived from different cell types. Significant increases in TMPs of 7.8% (95%CI: 0.7%, 15.3%) and 14.3% (95%CI: 2.8%, 27.2%) were observed with each interquartile range (IQR) increase in PM2.5 (IQR=64.9 μg·m−3) at prior 18 h and NO (IQR=40.5 μg·m−3) at prior 48 h. Among participants with low levels of CRP and MDA, significantly positive associations were observed between air pollution exposure and levels of TMPs (P<0.05). Conclusion Short-term exposure to air pollution is significantly associated with increased levels of circulating MPs in healthy adults, and in people with lower systemic inflammation, peripheral blood MPs levels are more easily affected after exposure to air pollutants.

Objective:The greater tuberosity angle(GTA)and critical shoulder angle(CSA)are commonly referred to as radiographic markers which were used to described morphology of the greater tu-berosity and acromion respectively. At present, most international studies focus on the correlation be-tween the above two parameters and rotator cuff tears(RCTs),and their diagnostic value and risk assess-ment.This study attempts to find out the trend of GTA and CSA changes and risk threshold of RCTs,as well as the protective factors and risk factors. Methods:In this study,130 individuals from May 2019 to December 2020 were recruited.According to Southern California Orthopedic Institute(SCOI)classifica-tion,the individuals were divided into four groups retrospectively:Group A,negative control group;Group B,partial tears(articular side);Group C,partial tears(bursal side);Group D,full-thickness tears.GTA and CSA were measured respectively on true anteroposterior position X-ray of shoulder with arm in neutral rotation and performed by the same trained technician team in single-blind.The correla-tions between RCTs and relevant factors were analyzed. Results:According to the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),GTA and CSA of RCTs(Groups B,C and D)were 0.736 and 0.673 with 95%confidence interval(CI),the cut-off value of GTA and CSA of RCTs were 70.5° and 39.5° respectively.Comparing with the control group,RCTs groups had significant statistical differences in age and body mass index(BMI)(P<0.05),especially the full-thickness RCTs(Group D),which was older than Groups A,B and C(P<0.05,cut-off value:56.5 years old)and shorter than Groups A and B(P<0.05,cut-off value:1.58 m).Analyzed from scatter plot and regression analysis, there was no linear correlation between GTA and CSA.There were no significant differences in gender, dominant shoulders and smoking between the RCTs groups and the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion:Larger GTA(>70.5°)and CSA(>39.5°)would be highly predictive in diagnosing RCTs without linear cor-relation,and GTA has a higher diagnostic value in contrast.Subacromial impingement and shoulder de-generation occurred before RCTs.Patients with age>56.5 years and height<1.58 m were more likely to develop disease of full-thickness RCTs and no statistic differences in weight and BMI.Gender,domi-nant shoulder and smoking were neither risk factors nor protective factors.

Digital technologies have become an integral part of complete denture restoration. With advancement in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), tools such as intraoral scanning, facial scanning, 3D printing, and numerical control machining are reshaping the workflow of complete denture restoration. Unlike conventional methods that rely heavily on clinical experience and manual techniques, digital technologies offer greater precision, predictability, and efficacy. They also streamline the process by reducing the number of patient visits and improving overall comfort. Despite these improvements, the clinical application of digital complete denture restoration still faces challenges that require further standardization. The major issues include appropriate case selection, establishing consistent digital workflows, and evaluating long-term outcomes. To address these challenges and provide clinical guidance for practitioners, this expert consensus outlines the principles, advantages, and limitations of digital complete denture technology. The aim of this review was to offer practical recommendations on indications, clinical procedures and precautions, evaluation metrics, and outcome assessment to support digital restoration of complete denture in clinical practice.

Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the treatment of acute injury to the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL).Methods:A retrospective study was conducted to analyze the data of 96 patients who had been admitted to Department of Orthopedic Trauma Repair, The Nanhua Hospital Affiliated to Hengyang Medical School for acute ATFL injuries of grades Ⅰ & Ⅱ from January 2022 to December 2023. They were divided into 2 groups according to their different treatments. In the PRP group subjected to local PRP injection combined with conservative treatment, there were 49 patients (28 males and 21 females), with an age of (32.5±6.5) years. In the conservative group subjected to traditional conservative treatment, there were 47 patients (24 males and 23 females), with an age of (30.5±5.3) years. The 2 groups were compared in terms of visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, talar anterior translations, Karlsson scores, American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) ankle-hindfoot scores before and 6 months after treatment. Results:No statistically significant differences were observed in the baseline characteristics between the 2 groups before treatment, indicating comparability ( P>0.05). All patients were followed up for (9.1±1.7) months. In both groups, the VAS pain scores significantly decreased after treatment than the pre-treatment ones, the talar anterior translations significantly reduced after treatment than the pre-treatment ones, and the AOFAS and Karlsson scores significantly increased after treatment than the pre-treatment ones ( P < 0.05). After 6 months of treatment, the talar translation distance [(2.5±0.4) mm], AOFAS ankle hind foot score [(91.7 ± 4.0) points], and Karlsson score [(93.0±3.5) points] in the PRP group were significantly better than those in the conservative group [(6.1±0.9) mm, (87.1±4.3) points, (89.0±4.0) points]( P < 0.05). Conclusion:In the treatment of acute ATFL injury, PRP therapy demonstrates good clinical efficacy, for it can significantly reduce pain, promote functional recovery, and improve joint stability.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(2):218-222
Objective:
To understand the distribution of tobacco retailer within 100 meters outside middle schools in Wuhan City and its impact on smoking behavior of middle school students, so as to provide basis and feasible suggestions for the development of tobacco control policy for adolescents.
Methods:
From February to May 2023, a multi stage stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 20 middle schools from 4 districts in Wuhan City. To investigate the distribution of tobacco retailer within 100 metres outside the school and the sale of tobacco to minors. A total of 4 882 students were surveyed using the core questions of the 2021 Chinese Adolescent Tobacco Prevalence Questionnaire. Fisher exact probability test, Chi square test and Chi square trend test were used for statistical analysis.
Results:
Nearly 70.00% of middle schools had tobacco retailer within 100 metres, with an average of (1.10±0.97) per middle school. The awareness rate (100.00%) and labeling rate (87.50%) of licensed tobacco retailer were higher than those of non licensed tobacco retailer (33.33%, 16.67%) ( P <0.05). The rates of tried smoking, current smoking and buying cigarettes within 30 days were 7.13%, 1.99% and 2.54%, respectively. The rates of students who tried smoking ( 8.58 %), current smoking (2.29%) and buying cigarettes within 30 days (2.85%) in schools with tobacco retailer within 100 metres were higher than those in schools without tobacco retailer (3.79%, 1.28%, 1.83%)( χ 2=35.80, 5.37, 4.37 , P <0.05). And as the grade increased, the rates of tried smoking, current smoking and buying cigarettes among middle school students all showed an upward trend ( χ 2 trend =66.20, 36.10, 16.17, P <0.05).
Conclusions
Middle school students in Wuhan City have high tobacco availability. The findings suggest that school ban should be extended from 50 meters to 100 meters, and the regulatory authorities must strictly prohibit selling tobacco products to minors at tobacco retailer.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(8):1191-1194
Objective:
To analyze the characteristics of a norovirus outbreak in a kindergarten, and factors affecting the detoxification time, so as to provide a scientific basis for targeted control measures.
Methods:
On February 24,2023, the basic personal information, clinical manifestations, morbidity and treatment of 16 kindergarten cases with a norovirus outbreak in Wuhan were collected. Anal swabs were collected every 7 d after the outbreak to detect norovirus. Chisquare test was used for comparison of intergroup rates. The comparison of detoxification time between different groups was conducted by Logrank test, and the influencing factors of detoxification time in cases were analyzed by Cox multiple regression analysis.
Results:
From February 19-28, 2023, a total of 18 cases were reported and 16 of them participated in the detoxication time monitoring. In the first, second, third and fourth sampling after the outbreak, the positive rates were 60.00%, 100.00%, 75.00% and 0, respectively. The reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction cycle threshold (Ct values) were (25.83±5.74, 28.83±5.55, 36.13±4.30), and undetected, respectively. The median time of detoxification was 19.42 d with 95%CI=(18.21-20.64)d. The results of Cox regression showed that the detoxication time was shorter in the treatment group than in the nontreatment group[HR(95%CI)=5.09(1.39-18.58), P<0.05].
Conclusion
Children infected with norovirus has a long duration of detoxification, and case management, which could be shortened by drugs, and disinfection should be strengthened after the case returned to school.
