Asarum forbesii is a perennial herb born in a shaded and humid environment, which is warm in nature. With the efficacy of warming lung, resolving fluid retention, and relieving coughs, it can be used to treat the syndrome of cold fluid accumulating in lung. To investigate the effects of different shading conditions on the composition and efficacy of A. forbesii, this study planted A. forbesii under 20% natural light(NL20), 40% natural light(NL40), 60% natural light(NL60), and 80% natural light(NL80) and utilized ultra performance liquid chromatography(UPLC) and micro broth 2-fold dilution method to detect the volatile chemical compounds and the minimum inhibitory concentration. At the same time, the study investigated the effects of A. forbesii grown under different shading conditions on the signs, pathological changes of lung tissues, serum cytokine levels, activities of mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes Ⅰ-Ⅴ in lung tissues, and relative expression of related genes of mice with syndrome of cold fluid accumulating in lung. The results indicated that with the increase of shading, the content of kakuol, methyl eugenol, and asarinin in A. forbesii and the antibacterial effect showed a tendency of increasing first and then decreasing, and the NL40 group was significantly better than the other groups. Under the conditions of NL20 and NL40, A. forbesii significantly alleviated the pathological damage to lung tissues, restored the homeostasis of the lung, and enhanced the energy metabolism level of mice with syndrome of cold fluid accumulating in lung. In addition, A. forbesii planted under the two conditions reduced the content of interleukin-8(IL-8), interleukin-13(IL-13), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), and mucin 5AC(MUC5AC), increased the levels of interleukin-10(IL-10) and aquaporin 1(AQP1), lowered the expression of MMP9, VEGF, TGF-β, and MAPK3. In conclusion, the therapeutic effect of A. forbesii on the syndrome of cold fluid accumulating in lung was positively correlated with the degree of shading, and the chemical composition and efficacy of warming lung and resolving fluid retention were optimal under the conditions of NL20-NL40. This study can provide reference for the pharmacological research and cultivation of A. forbesii.

2. Metabolic changes detected by1H NMR spectroscopy in the hippocampus of acute brain injury rats
Journal of International Pharmaceutical Research 2015;42(5):621-624
Objective To reveal the alterations of metabolic profiles by detecting changes in hippocampus1H NMR spectrin acute brain injury (ABI) rats. Methods The model of ABI was achieved by trauma, and 2 hours after modeling, the hippocampus samples were collected for NMR analysis. Results Compared to age-matched control rats, the ABI rats exhibited markedly different metabolic profiles, which showed significant changes in glutamate (P<0.01), taurine(5<0.05), myo-inositol (P< 0.05), and glutamine (P<0.05). Conclusion The metabonomics results suggest that amino acid metabolism is disordered when ABI occurs. This study provides clues for further understanding to cure ABI.
3. Improvement of preparing technique for Tongtian oral liquid
Journal of International Pharmaceutical Research 2015;42(5):658-661
Objective To improve the filtering technique and the addition methods of distillate for Tongtian oral liquid with a new type of filtering equipment. Methods The filter paper in the current filtering process was replaced with a combination of terylene filter cloth and pulvis talci. Distillate was added into the runny paste of preparation directly without using the solubilizer of Tween-80. Then the admixture was agitated sufficiently. After that, 10% NaOH was used to adjust the pH to 4.5-A.5, and the solution was added to 1200 L by water. At last, a clear preparation was obtained by using the above filtering equipment. Results Compared with the product made by the current method, the improved preparation was qualified and tasty. Conclusion The improved method is feasible, simple and economical. The product is tasty.

Objective To compare the results of transcranial Doppler (TCD) in patients with type Ⅱ diabetes and patients with no diabetes to explore the clinical value of TCD in patients with diabetes. Methods The results of TCD were recorded in 60 cases of type Ⅱ diabetes and 60 cases of no diabetes, and then, statistical analysis was performed. Results The patients with type Ⅱ diabetes showed significantly increased peak-systolic velocity, mean velocity and pulsatility indexes of the intracranial blood vessels as compared with the patients with no diabetes (P<0.05). Conclusion TCD can help to make objective evaluation in patients with cerebrovascular disease and type Ⅱ diabetes, showing its significance in preventing the cerebrovascular disease in patients with diabetes.
