Mitochondrial bioenergetics plays a fundamental role in neuronal development and function. Prenatal exposure to corticosterone in rats (Corti.Pup) has previously been shown to cause delayed neurodevelopment and synaptic plasticity deficits, showing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) - like behaviors. However, the underlying mitochondrial metabolic adaptations remain unclear. This study investigated mitochondrial function and metabolic remodeling in prefrontal cortex neurons of Corti.Pups, focusing on oxidative phosphorylation, calcium handling, and redox balance. We assessed neuronal viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and oxygen consumption rate (OCR) through experiments conducted in both neuron-glia co-culture and neuron-only conditions. Furthermore, we evaluated electron transport chain (ETC) activity, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake in purified isolated mitochondria. In results, Corti.Pup neurons exhibited increased vulnerability to glutamate-induced excitotoxicity in the absence of glial support. Despite reduced ROS production, these neurons showed elevated mitochondrial OCR and proton leak, coupled with decreased non-mitochondrial OCR and ETC complex activity. Surprisingly, MMP remained elevated despite ETC dysfunction, and mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake was suppressed. These features indicate mitochondrial metabolic reprogramming, prioritizing MMP maintenance over ATP synthesis. The observed mitochondrial inefficiency and compensatory adaptations may impair energy production, contributing to delayed neuronal development in Corti.Pups. These findings suggest that mitochondrial dysfunction and metabolic remodeling play central roles in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore factors influencing satisfaction with medical services among medically underserved populations at the free medical clinic, providing data to improve free medical services for these populations. Methods: We employed a descriptive correlational study design involving 112 individuals (aged 19 years and older) from medically underserved populations who visited the clinic. Data were collected through face-to-face surveys from September to October 2023, and statistical analyses (t-tests, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression) were used to identify key predictors of satisfaction. Results: Perceived support from healthcare providers emerged as the strongest predictor ofsatisfaction with medical services, demonstrating a significant positive association. While socialsupport was positively correlated with perceived support from healthcare providers, it did not independently predict satisfaction. Conclusion These findings underscore the importance of healthcare provider and social supportin increasing satisfaction with medical services among medically underserved populations.Developing tailored healthcare programs and specialized healthcare provider training are essential strategies to improve healthcare access and outcomes for these vulnerable groups.

International public health authorities have issued guidelines recommending that children and adolescents limit their daily sedentary time, including screen time. However, to date, no studies have explored the relationship between sedentary behavior as an exposure factor and skeletal muscle strength and mass as outcomes in this population. The present study investigated the association of sedentary behavior with handgrip strength (HGS) and appendicular lean mass (ALM) among United States adolescents. Methods: A total of 1449 adolescent participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2011-2014) were included. Information on sedentary behavior, specifically daily sedentary time, was obtained through a self-reported questionnaire. Muscular parameters, including HGS and ALM, were measured. To adjust for differences in body size, these parameters were divided by body mass index (BMI) and weight. Linear regression analyses were performed to evaluate the associations between daily sedentary time and each muscular parameter, adjusting for age, sex, ethnicity, annual family income, and moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). Results: The linear regression analyses revealed negative associations between daily sedentary time and all muscular parameters, apart from absolute ALM. These included HGS (β, -0.265; standard error [SE], 0.074; p=0.001), HGS/BMI (β, -0.021; SE, 0.004; p<0.001), HGS/weight (β, -0.008; SE, 0.002; p<0.001), ALM/BMI (β, -0.008; SE, 0.003; p=0.010), and ALM/weight (β, -0.003; SE, 0.001; p=0.005). Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted from December 13 to 31, 2021, involving 127 nurses. The following statistical analysis was conducted: t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis, and Hayes Process Macro Model 4 (to test the mediating effect). Results: Nursing practice environment showed a significant positive correlation with nursing performance, retention intention, and nursing professional pride. Nursing practice performance showed a positive correlation with retention intention and nursing professional pride, and retention intention showed a significant positive correlation with nursing professional pride. The mediating effect of nursing professional pride was found in the effect of nurses' nursing practice environment on their retention intention. Conclusion Through this study, it was confirmed that nursing professional pride is a major A factor affecting retention intention in the hospital. Therefore, in order to increase nurses' retention intention to remain in Hospital, the basis of basic data was presented for strategy development.
