Background: In 2021, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that about 3.6 million Filipinos suffer from mental health (MH) or substance use (SU) conditions [1]. However, there is a dearth of literature on the delivery of MH and SU services in Philippine schools and workplaces. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the prevalence of MH and SU services in Philippine schools and workplaces. It also examined the level of institutional support, barriers, and stigma and discrimination for MH and SU. Methodology: Data was gathered in October 2022 using an online survey. The survey generated 262 respondents from all regions of the country. Schools represented 55% of respondents whereas 45% were from government and private workplaces. Results: Schools and workplaces report providing more services for MH compared to SU. They also have more budget for mental health compared to substance use. The most commonly provided services are prevention programs on stress with a greater percentage of schools providing this compared to workplaces. Majority of schools and workplaces do not have any screening or treatment programs for MH and SU. Barriers to service delivery include the lack of budget, personnel, and knowledge of what services to provide. Results showed moderate levels of stigma and discrimination, with attitudes towards substance users being more negative compared to those with MH issues. Conclusion Despite national policies requiring MH and SU services in schools and workplaces, gaps in service delivery and institutional support hinder implementation. To improve service delivery, there is a need to strengthen resources, policy, leadership support and address stigma and discrimination.

Background: Cervical cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide and second in the Philippines. However, Pap smear test, a common screening test procedure for the detection of cervical cancer, remains underutilized, contributing to the increasing incidence of cervical cancer. Women's knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) must be measured to ensure good, targeted interventions; and increase screening and detection of cervical cancer cases. Objectives: The study aims to determine the KAPof women in Surallah, South Cotabato, towards Pap smear. It also aims to help the local government, college administrators, and rural health unit create programs to enhance women's KAPin the municipality. Methodology: The study used a descriptive, cross-sectional design, employing questionnaires manually distributed to determine the KAPof women in Surallah, South Cotabato. Results: The study included 375 respondents. Most know the purpose and importance of a Pap smear but are in need of better understanding of the procedure and the timing of the test. Most of the respondents also had varied reactions toward the test toward the test; some had positive attitudes, and others had negative attitudes. The respondents didn't undergo the procedure despite having a good knowledge of it. Conclusion Most respondents correctly understood the importance of the procedure but needed to learn how it was done. They also have a fair to commendable attitude towards the test. However, despite these, the respondents still practice poorly due to misconceptions and misinformation

BACKGROUND: The prevalence of hypertension is high among Chinese adults, thus, identifying non-hypertensive individuals at high risk for intervention will help to improve the efficiency of primary prevention strategies. METHODS: The cross-sectional data on 9699 participants aged 20 to 80 years were collected from the China National Health Survey in Gansu and Hebei provinces in 2016 to 2017, and they were nonrandomly split into the training set and validation set based on location. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to develop the diagnostic prediction model, which was presented as a nomogram and a website with risk classification. Predictive performances of the model were evaluated using discrimination and calibration, and were further compared with a previously published model. Decision curve analysis was used to calculate the standardized net benefit for assessing the clinical usefulness of the model. RESULTS: The Lasso regression analysis identified the significant predictors of hypertension in the training set, and a diagnostic model was developed using logistic regression. A nomogram with risk classification was constructed to visualize the model, and a website ( https://chris-yu.shinyapps.io/hypertension_risk_prediction/ ) was developed to calculate the exact probabilities of hypertension. The model showed good discrimination and calibration, with the C-index of 0.789 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.768, 0.810) through internal validation and 0.829 (95% CI: 0.816, 0.842) through external validation. Decision curve analysis demonstrated that the model was clinically useful. The model had a higher area under receiver operating characteristic curves in training and validation sets compared with a previously published diagnostic model based on Northern China population. CONCLUSION This study developed and validated a diagnostic model for hypertension prediction in Gansu Province. A nomogram and a website were developed to make the model conveniently used to facilitate the individualized prediction of hypertension in the general population of Han and Yugur.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate and analyze the current situation of dentists in Guangdong pro-vince regarding the management of avulsed incisors, thereby providing a reference for making treatment strategies for avulsed incisors in the future. METHODS: A total of 712 dentists with different educational backgrounds and working conditions in Guangdong province were randomly selected to conduct an online questionnaire survey on the cognition of children with avulsed incisors from April 2022 to May 2022. The data were recorded by Excel software and statistics were analyzed on Stata/SE 15.1. RESULTS: A total of 712 dentists were investigated and 701 questionnaires were collected (98.46%). In addition, 65.9% of investigators came from the Department of Stomatology in a First-class Hospital or Stomatological Hospital. The results showed that the average number of avulsed teeth consulted by dentists was less than 20 per year. Although 99.7% of respondents considered normal saline as a suitable storage medium, 3.1% and 23.8% of them had a misunderstanding that the tap/alcohol could be used for root cleaning. Moreover, 93.4% was the correct selection rate of the treatment plan for processing on root surfaces before replanting by investigators. The correct selection rate of the duration using elastic fixation was only 10.7%. Meanwhile, 42.9% of investigators refused to inoculate tetanus immunoglobulin after teeth replanting. Emergency management of dental avulsion (EM) and clinical management of dental avulsion (CM) answered correctly with average scores of 14.60±11.85 and 14.48±2.67, respectively. Multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that working years were negatively correlated with EM and CM scores (P<0.05). There was a positive correlation between CM and EM scores with the number of avulsion cases treated by physicians each year (P<0.05). In terms of the EM score of dentists' learning attitude, investigators who had received enough knowledge were higher than those who had not and insufficient knowledge reserved, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of investigators who thought they had a certain degree of knowledge about dental trauma were higher than those who thought they "did not understand", and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). In terms of CM scores, investigators who thought the knowledge of dental trauma was "very helpful" had higher scores than those who thought it was "not helpful", and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The scores of the investigators who thought they had "relatively sufficient knowledge" of dental trauma were higher than those who thought they had "no knowledge" or "insufficient know-ledge", and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The overall accuracy of the management of avulsed incisors among dentists was low in Guangdong province. Dentists were more likely to have a higher rate of accuracy choice in treatment options for luxation injury and avulsion to enhance the prognosis of replanted teeth.

Objective: To understand the core knowledge level and influencing factors of chronic disease prevention and control in Adults in China, and to provide a scientific basis for formulating chronic disease prevention and control measures. Methods: In this study, cross-sectional survey and quota sampling were used to recruit 173 819 permanent residents aged 18 and above from 302 counties of adult chronic diseases and nutrition surveillance in China to conduct an online questionnaire survey, including basic information and core knowledge of chronic diseases. The scores of the core knowledge of chronic disease prevention and control were described by median and interquartile range, the Wilcoxon rank sum test or the Kruskal Wallis test was used for the inter-group comparison, and the correlation factors of the total score were analyzed by the multilinear regression model. Results: A total of 172 808 participants were surveyed in 302 counties and districts, of which 42.60%(73 623) were male and 57.40%(99 185) were female; The proportion of respondents aged 18-44, 45-59, and 60 years old and above was 54.74% (94 594), 30.91% (53 423) and 14.35% (24 791), respectively. The total score of the core knowledge of chronic prevention and control in the total population was 66(13), and the scores of different characteristic groups were different, and the differences were statistically significant: the eastern region had the highest score at 67(11) (H=840.66, P<0.01), the urban 66(12) was higher than the rural 65(14) (Z=-31.35, P<0.01), and the male 66(14) was lower than female 66(12) (Z=-11.66, P<0.01), 18-24 years old 64(13) was lower than other age groups(H=115.80, P<0.01), and undergraduate degree and above had the highest score compared to other academic qualifications, with 68(9) points(H=2 547.25, P<0.01). Multivariate analysis showed that eastern (t=27.42, P<0.01), central (t=17.33, P<0.01), urban (t=5.69, P<0.01), female (t=17.81, P<0.01), high age (t=46.04, P<0.01) and high education (t=57.77, P<0.01) had higher scores of core knowledge of chronic disease prevention and control than other groups, the scores of core knowledge of chronic disease prevention and control of professional and technical personnel (t=8.63, P<0.01), state enterprises and institutions (t=38.67, P<0.01), agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery and water conservancy production (t=5.30, P<0.01), production, transportation and commercial personnel (t=24.87, P<0.01), and other workers (t=8.89, P<0.01) were higher than those of non-employed people. Conclusion: There are differences in the total scores of the core knowledge of chronic disease prevention and control in different characteristics of people in China, and in the future, health education on the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases should be strengthened for specific groups to improve the knowledge level of residents.

Objective: To understand the current situation of long working hours exposure of couriers in Zhejiang Province, and to analyze the influence of long working hours exposure levels on their occupational stress and depression symptoms, and provide a basis for promoting the physical and mental health of couriers. Methods: From September to December 2021 , 1159 couriers from Zhejiang Express Transport Companies were selected as respondents by cluster sampling, and their basic information were collected. The occupational stress and depression symptoms of the couriers were assessed using the Core Occupational Stress Scale (COSS) and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9). The effects of long work hours (>48 h per week) on the occupational stress and depression symptoms of the couriers were analyzed. Results: The average age of 1159 courier in Zhejiang Province was (33.24±8.42) years, the average weekly working hours were (63.21±18.77) h, and 75.15% (871/1159) were long-term workers. The detection rates of occupational stress and depression symptoms in courier were 32.44% (376/1159) and 32.53% (377/1159), respectively. There were significant differences in the detection rates of occupational stress and depression symptoms among couriers with different ages, educational background, marital status, monthly average income, length of service, position or post, shift status, drinking status, and average weekly working hours (P <0.05). The adjusted logistic regression analysis showed that, after adjusting for the influence of confounding factors such as age, educational background, marital status, monthly average income, length of service, position or post, shift status and drinking status, compared with the weekly working hours ≤48 h, weekly working hours of 63-77 h, 78-92 h, ≥93 h were the risk factors for occupational stress (OR=1.547, 95%CI: 1.019-2.350; OR=1.886, 95%CI: 1.184-3.006; OR=2.338, 95%CI: 1.188-4.062) and depression symptoms (OR=1.897, 95%CI: 1.258-2.860; OR=2.041, 95%CI: 1.290-3.230; OR=4.978, 95%CI: 2.551-9.715) of couriers (P<0.05) . Conclusion: Long working hours could increase the risk of occupational stress and depression symptoms among couriers. It is necessary to arrange working hours reasonably to reduce the occurrence of occupational stress and depression symptoms of couriers.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the sociodemographic profile and theprevalence of internet use among the NCMH employees’ dependents. Methodology: This was a descriptive study of NCMH employees’ dependents from10-40 years old who lived in the same household and spoke English, selecting them throughrandom sampling and using the 8 -item Internet Addiction Diagnostic Questionnaire. Onlynon-essential computer / internet usage was evaluated and addiction was consideredpresent if patient answered 5 or ore of the questions over a 6- month period. Results: There were 100 respondents who qualified with 52% females and 48% males.Eighty five percent were 30 years old and below but almost equally distributed betweenthose from 10- 20 years old (45%) and those from 21- 30 years old (40%); but most of them (45%) had reached college though not all graduated (38%). Majority (83% ) wereRoman Catholics and 76% were single. There were 78 (78%) respondents who hadproblematic internet use. Conclusion The prevalence of problematic internet use among dependents of NCMHemployees was quite high.

BACKGROUND: There is substantial evidence on the association between lower education and unhealthy behaviors. However, the mechanism underlying this association remains unclear. This study aimed to examine whether income, health literacy, and social support mediate the association between education and health-related behaviors. METHODS: A questionnaire survey was conducted in metropolitan areas in Japan from 2010 to 2011 among residents aged 25-50 years. Data from 3663 participants were used in this study. Health literacy was measured using the Communicative and Critical Health Literacy scale. Health-related behaviors were current smoking, poor dietary habits, hazardous drinking, and lack of exercise. Poisson regression analyses with robust variance estimators were conducted to examine the associations between education and these health-related behaviors. Multiple mediation analyses were conducted to estimate the magnitudes of the mediating effects of income, health literacy, and social support on these associations. RESULTS: Less educated participants had higher risks of all unhealthy behaviors. Income mediated the associations of education with smoking (6.4%) and exercise (20.0%). Health literacy mediated the associations of education with dietary habits (15.4%) and exercise (16.1%). Social support mediated the associations of education with dietary habits (6.4%) and exercise (7.6%). The education-drinking association was mediated by income in the opposite direction (-10.0%). The proportions of the total effects mediated by income, health literacy, and social support were 9.8% for smoking, 24.0% for dietary habits, -3.0% for drinking, and 43.7% for exercise. CONCLUSIONS These findings may provide clues for designing effective interventions to reduce educational inequalities in health-related behaviors.

OBJECTIVES: The development and validation of the specific health literacy assessment tool for older adults is the basis for conducting the research on health literacy among older adults. The existing health literacy assessment scale for older adults in Chinese mainland has some limitations, such as too many items and poor compliance during the survey. It is necessary to develop or introduce simplified assessment tools to support large-scale surveys in the future. This study aims to modify the brief health literacy assessment scale compiled by Taiwan scholars, and to conduct the test for the reliability, validity and the measurement equivalence across gender in the older population in mainland China. METHODS: From March to April 2021, 508 older adults from Jinan, Shandong Province, China were selected by cluster sampling method to conduct a questionnaire survey using the brief health literacy assessment scale and health-promoting lifestyle profile. After 4 weeks, 83 of them were selected for retesting. SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used for descriptive analysis, item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and reliability test, and Mplus 8.0 was used for confirmatory factor analysis and gender measurement equivalence test. RESULTS: Each item of the scale had good discrimination, and there were significant differences in the scores of each item between high score and low score groups (P<0.05), and the coefficient of correlation between the scores of each item and the total score was between 0.721 and 0.891. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a factor with a characteristic root greater than 1, and the cumulative variance interpretation amount was 67.94%. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the single factor structure fit was good [χ2/df was 2.260, the Tucker-Lewis index was 0.973, the comparison fit index (CFI) was 0.982, and the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) was 0.071]. The multi-group confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the brief health literacy assessment scale's configural equivalence, weak equivalence, and strong equivalence models were all accepted. The comparison results of measurement equivalence models showed that the changes of RMSEA were less than 0.015, and the changes of CFI were less than 0.01, indicating that the brief health literacy assessment scale had measurement equivalence between different gender groups. Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.945, and the test-retest reliability was 0.946. The correlation coefficient between health literacy and health-promotion lifestyles was 0.557 (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS The brief health literacy assessment scale has good reliability, validity, and measurement equivalence across gender, and can be used as an effective measurement tool for the health literacy of the older people in Chinese mainland.
