Objective To explore the influence of Buqi Qingchang Decoction(composed of Buzhong Yiqi Decoction plus Baitouweng Decoction with Curcumae Radix and Curcumae Longae Rhizoma added)combined with XELOX chemotherapy and Bevacizumab targeted therapy on the clinical efficacy,quality of life and survival period of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer of qi deficiency and damp-heat syndrome.Methods A retrospective study was conducted in 70 patients with metastatic colorectal cancer of qi deficiency and damp-heat syndrome who were admitted to the Department of Oncology,Chongqing Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine(Chongqing Beibei District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine)from December 2020 to December 2023.The patients were divided into an observation group and a control group according to the therapy,with 35 cases in each group.The control group was treated with XELOX chemotherapy combined with Bevacizumab targeted therapy,while the observation group was given oral administration of Buqi Qingchang Decoction together with chemotherapy and targeted therapy.The changes in the serum levels of tumor markers such as carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)and carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199),and Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)scores for quality of life in the two groups were observed before and after treatment.Moreover,the clinical efficacy,progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)were compared between the two groups.Results(1)After treatment,the objective response rate(ORR)and disease control rate(DCR)in the observation group were 51.42％(18/35)and 85.71％(30/35),respectively,which were significantly higher than those in the control group[25.71％(9/35)and 54.29％(19/35),respectively],and the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).(2)The PFS of the observation group was 16.7 months and that of the control group was 12.9 months,and the OS of the observation group was 23.3 months and that of the control group was 17.7 months.The PFS and OS of the observation group were significantly longer than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).(3)After treatment,the levels of serum CEA and CA199 in the two groups were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05),and the KPS scores were significantly increased compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05).The decrease of serum CEA and CA1 99 levels and the increase of KPS scores in the observation group were superior to those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion XELOX chemotherapy and Bevacizumab regimen combined with Buqi Qingchang Decoction exerts certain effect in treating metastatic colorectal cancer.The combined therapy is effective on enhancing the efficacy to a certain extent,prolonging the survival period of patients,reducing the risk of disease progression,decreasing the levels of serum tumor markers,and improving the quality of life of patients.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Shen Jiang Zhouche Powder(composed of modified Lizhong Pill,Erchen Decoction,and Zhouche Pill)in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion(MPE)patients with fluid retention in the chest and hypochondrium syndrome.Methods Eighty MPE patients with fluid retention in the chest and hypochondrium syndrome were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group,with 40 cases in each group.Both groups were given conventional western medical treatment,and additionally the control group was treated with Spironolactone and Furosemide Tablets orally while the treatment group was treated with Shen Jiang Zhouche Powder orally.A total of 21 days constituted one course of treatment,and both groups were treated for two courses and then were followed up for one month.The changes of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,scores of Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)established by Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG),and scores of self-rating scale of sleep(SRSS)in the two groups were observed before and after treatment.After treatment,the clinical efficacy,TCM syndrome efficacy and clinical safety of the two groups were evaluated.Results(1)After treatment and one-month follow-up,the total clinical effective rate in the treatment group was 67.5%(27/40)and that in the control group was 45.0%(18/40),and the intergroup comparison(by chi-square test)showed that the clinical efficacy of the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P＜0.05).(2)After two courses of treatment,the total effective rate of TCM syndrome improvement in the treatment group was 92.5%(37/40)and that of the control group was 50.0%(20/40),and the intergroup comparison(by chi-square test)showed that the TCM syndrome efficacy in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P＜0.01).(3)After treatment,except for the score of dyspnea in the control group,the scores of each of the main symptoms(including dry cough,chest tightness,chest pain,tightness of breath,dyspnea)and accompanied symptoms as well as the total TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01),and the decrease of the scores of each of the main symptoms and accompanied symptoms as well as the total TCM syndrome scores were significantly superior to those in the control group(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).(4)After treatment,the scores of KPS and SRSS in the two groups were significantly improved compared with those before treatment(P＜0.01),and the improvement in the treatment group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01).(5)There were no obvious adverse reactions occurring in both groups,while only mild symptoms of the adverse reactions were presented.The incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was 7.5%(3/40)and that in the control group was 12.5%(5/40),and the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Shen Jiang Zhouche Powder exerts certain clinical efficacy in the treatment of MPE patients with fluid retention in the chest and hypochondrium syndrome,which is effective on alleviating the clinical symptoms of TCM,and improving the quality of life of patients,without obvious toxicity or side effects.

Aim To preliminarily investigate the effect of brusatol(BRU), the monomer components fromChinese medicines on H1299 cells and its mechanisms.Methods CCK-8 and EdU staining experiment were used to detect the effect of BRU on cell prolifera-tion.Clone formation experiment was performed to measure the effect of drugs on cell clone formation.Hoechst33258 staining experiment and flow cytometry were employed to observe the cell apoptosis.Western blot assay was used to detect the protein expression levels of Bcl-xL, Bax, Bcl-2, cleaved-caspase-3, caspase-3, Gadd45α, PI3K, p-PI3K, Akt, p-Akt and NF-κB-p65.Results CCK-8 assay revealed that the inhibitory effect of H1299 cells gradually increased with the rising of BRU concentration and action time.Compared with control group, the EdU incorporation rate of the BRU treatment group decreased significantly.Treated with different concentrations of BRU for 24 h, the clone formation rate was significantly reduced in a concentration-dependent manner.Hoechst33258 experiment and flow cytometry showed that BRU could induce apoptosis in H1299 cell nucleus and increase its apoptotic rate.Western blot results revealed that BRU could significantly up-regulate the protein levels of Bax, cleaved-caspase-3, Gadd45α, and significantly down-regulate the expression of Bcl-xL, Bcl-2, caspase-3.In addition, BRU could significantly decrease the expression level of p-PI3K, p-Akt, NF-κB-p65 in cell nucleus.Conclusions BRU can inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of H1299 cells in a concentration and time-dependent manner.The mechanism may be related to the inhibition of PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and the nuclear shuttle of NF-κB-p65.

Objective To investigate the bacterial community diversity in Dermatophagoides farinae. Methods Laboratory-cultured D. farinae was collected, and the composition of microbial communities was determined by sequence analyses of the V4 region in the bacterial 16S ribosomal RNA (16S rRNA) gene on an Illumina PE250 high-throughput sequencing platform. Following quality control and filtering of the raw sequence files, valid reads were obtained and subjected to operational taxonomic units (OTU) clustering and analysis of the composition of microbial communities and alpha diversity index using the Usearch software, Silva database, and Mothur software. Results A total of 187 616 valid reads were obtained, and 469 OTUs were clustered based on a sequence similarity of more than 97%. OTU annotation showed that the bacteria in D. farinae belonged to 26 phyla, 43 classes, 100 orders, 167 families and 284 genera. The bacteria in D. farinae were mainly annotated to five phyla of Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidota, Actinobacteriota, and Acidobacteriota, with Proteobacteria as the dominant phylum, and mainly annotated to five dominant genera of Ralstonia, norank-f-Mitochondria, Staphylococcus and Sphingomonas, with Wolbachia identified in the non-dominant genus. Conclusions A high diversity is identified in the composition of the bacterial community in D. farinae, and there are differences in bacterial community diversity and abundance among D. farinae.

Objective:To evaluate the characteristics of carotid plaque and the immediate outcomes after carotid artery stenting (CAS) in diabetic and non-diabetic patients by optical coherence tomography (OCT).Methods:Patients underwent CAS and OCT before and after operation in the Department of Neurology, Jinling Hospital from January 2014 to March 2019 were enrolled retrospectively. The clinical features, the characteristics of carotid plaque on OCT and the immediate outcomes after CAS were compared between diabetic group and non-diabetic group. The risk factors of stent malapposition were analyzed.Results:A total of 46 patients were enrolled. Their age was 64.02±8.32 years and 41 were males (89.1%). There were 20 patients (43.5%) in the diabetes group and 26 (56.5%) in the non-diabetes group. The proportions of atherosclerotic plaque with thin fibrous cap (40.0% vs. 7.7%; χ2=5.166, P=0.023), plaque rupture (55.0% vs. 23.1%; χ2=4.945, P=0.026) and macrophage infiltration (60.0% vs. 30.8%; χ2=3.930, P=0.047) in the diabetic group were significantly higher than those in the non-diabetic group. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that older age (odds ratio [ OR] 1.208, 95% confidence interval [ CI] 1.033-1.413; P=0.018), coronary heart disease ( OR 15.953, 95% CI 1.142-222.952; P=0.040), alcohol consumption ( OR 6.192, 95% CI 1.098-34.923; P=0.039) and lower systolic blood pressure ( OR 0.944, 95% CI 0.894-0.997; P=0.037) were independently associated with stent malaposition. Conclusion:Compared with the non-diabetic patients, carotid plaque in diabetic patients may be more unstable. Older age, coronary heart disease, alcohol consumption and lower systolic blood pressure were associated with stent malaposition after carotid stenting. OCT can reveal the characteristics of carotid plaque and the immediate outcomes after CAS, which can provide strong evidence for treatment decision.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the therapeutic effect of electro-nape-acupuncture (ENA) combined with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and single HBOT on refractory flat descending idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL). METHODS: A total of 78 patients were randomized into an ENA combined with HBOT (ENA+HBOT) group and a HBOT group, 39 cases in each one. Patients in both groups were treated with oral extract of ginkgo biloba leaves and mecobalamin tablets. On the basis of the conventional medication treatment, HBOT was adopt in the HBOT group. On the basis of the treatment in the HBOT group, electro-nape-acupuncture was applied at Fengchi (GB 20), Gongxue (Extra), Zhongzhu (TE 3), Waiguan (TE 5) and Yifeng (TE 17), Tinggong (SI 19), Tinghui (GB 2) and the vertigo-auditory area of affected side in the ENA+HBOT group. Pulse acupuncture instrument was connected at Fengchi (GB 20) and Gongxue (Extra) for 30 min (with continuous wave, 2 Hz in frequency), the needles were retained for another 30 min after electroaupuncture. The treatment was given once a day, 6 times a week for 4 weeks in both groups. Before the treatment and 2,4 weeks into the treatment, the average auditory threshold, the scores of tinnitus handicap inventory (THI) and dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) were observed, and the therapeutic effect was evaluated in both groups. RESULTS: Compared before treatment, the average auditory threshold, the scores of THI and DHI of 2,4 weeks into the treatment were decreased in both groups (<0.000 1). Compared with the HBOT group, the average auditory threshold, the scores of THI and DHI of 4 weeks into the treatment were lower in the ENA+HBOT group (<0.000 1). The total effective rate was 69.2% (27/39) in the ENA+HBOT group and 51.3% (20/39) in the HBOT group, there was no statistical difference (>0.05). CONCLUSION Electro-nape- acupuncture can improve the mean auditory threshold and the symptoms of tinnitus and dizziness in patients with refractory flat descending idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss.

Pre-formulation physicochemical properties of the component-based Chinese medicine of Qinqi Fengshi Fang were investigated to provide a research basis for the design of the dosage form for component-based Chinese medicine of Qinqi Fengshi Fang. The macroporous resin adsorption and refining technology was used to prepare the total glycosides extract of Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, Panacis Majoris Rhizome and Corni Fructus respectively in the prescription of Qinqi Fengshi Fang. Their physicochemical properties were investigated, including solubility, wettability, hygroscopicity, equilibrium solubility, oil-water partition coefficient, and stability. The results showed that the total glycosides of Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix, Panacis Majoris Rhizome and Corni Fructus all had good solubility and wettability. The solubility index of each total glycoside component was greater than 85%, and the water absorption index was greater than 50%. In the range of pH 2.0-7.4, the equilibrium solubility of three kinds of total glycosides all increased with the increase of pH, showing a consistent change trend of solubility. The hydrophilicity was also suitable and similar. Overall, three kinds of total glycosides showed good stability, but strong hygroscopicity. The degree of hygroscopicity was as follows: total glycosides of Gen-tianae Macrophyllae Radix > total glycosides of Corni Fructus > total glycosides of Panacis Majoris Rhizome. Therefore, the hygroscopi-city needed to be considered in the preparation of the component-based Chinese medicine of Qinqi Fengshi Fang. The excipients and packaging materials can be properly selected to reduce the hygroscopicity of the preparation. This study provides a reference for the dosage form design of the component-based Chinese medicine of Qinqi Fengshi Fang.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of chronic arsenic exposure on cerebral cortex and serum metabolics of mice and explore the mechanism of arsenic neurotoxicity.

METHODSTwelve 3-week-old male C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned into exposure group and control group and exposed to sodium arsenite (50 mg/L) via drinking water and deionized water for 12 weeks, respectively. After the exposure, arsenic level in the cerebrum was determined by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry. The metabolites in the cerebral cortex and serum were determined using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to analyze the difference of the metabolites between the exposure and the control groups. Online tools for analyzing metabolic pathways were used to identify the related metabolites pathways.

RESULTSArsenic content in the brain of exposure group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The mice exposed to arsenic had a higher level of citric acid, phenylalanine, tyrosine, histidine and lysine in the cerebral cortex (P<0.05). Serum levels of serine, glycine, proline, aspartate and glutamate were significantly higher while α-ketoglutaric acid level was significantly lower in the exposure group than in the control group (P<0.05). PCA analysis showed a significant difference in cerebral cortex and serum metabolites between the two groups.

CONCLUSIONChronic arsenic exposure may affect the function of the central nervous system by interfering with amino acid metabolism and tricarboxylic acid cycle, which may be one of the mechanisms of arsenic neurotoxicity.

long-term use of dental implants. So, the reasonable and precise design of implant shape is one of the important methods of prolonging the life span of dental implants.
OBJECTIVE:To make the optimal analysis and design of the diameters of connector screw and central screw of the adjustable-angle dental implant invented in the earlier stage.
METHODS: The finite element analysis model of the edentulous mandible with adjustable-angle dental implant was established by software Pro/E 5.0, Mimics 10.0 and ANSYS Workbench 14.5. The maximum equivalent
