Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and disease burden of liver cancer in Guangdong Province in 2020, and to provide a scientific foundation for the development of regionalized prevention and control strategies for liver cancer. Methods According to the cancer registry data of Guangdong Province, the incidence, mortality and age-standardized rate by Chinese standard population in 2020 were calculated to analyze the epidemiological characteristics of liver cancer. The disability adjusted life years (DALYs), year of life loss (YLL), year of lived with disability (YLD), and cause-eliminated life expectancy were used to assess the disease burden of liver cancer. Results In 2020, the crude incidence rate and the age-standardized incidence rate of liver cancer in Guangdong Province were 27.79/100 000 and 20.84/100 000，respectively, and the crude mortality rate and the age-standardized mortality rate of liver cancer were 25.49/100,000 and 17.64/100 000, respectively. The total DALY and DALY rate of liver cancer in Guangdong Province were 515 311 person-years and 513.83/100 000, respectively. After eliminating the causes of death from liver cancer, the life expectancy in Guangdong Province increased from 84.60 years to 84.99 years. All indicators consistently demonstrated that the burden of liver cancer was higher in males than that in females, and the burden of liver cancer was higher in rural areas than that in urban areas. Conclusion Liver cancer in Guangdong Province exhibits a high incidence, mortality and disease burden level in 2020. There are obvious differences of gender, age and region in cancer burden. It is necessary to strengthen liver cancer screening and diagnosis and treatment in men, the elderly and those in rural areas to reduce the burden of liver cancer gradually in Guangdong Province.

ObjectiveTo systematically evaluate the application of narrative education in undergraduate nursing teaching， to understand the current application status of narrative education， and to provide a theoretical basis for the subsequent establishment of a sound narrative education system. MethodsA systematic search was conducted for studies published in Chinese and English databases on applying narrative education to undergraduate nursing teaching， with the search period ranging from database inception to February 23， 2025. Literature was screened， and relevant information was extracted. A rigorous quality evaluation was conducted on the included studies， and a descriptive analysis was performed on their content. ResultsA total of 20 papers were included， involving 3，180 research subjects， all of whom were undergraduate nursing students. The results of descriptive analysis showed that the teaching model of narrative education primarily encompassed reading narrative works， watching films and videos， performing narrative scenarios， and writing reflective journals. The course setting and content covered pre-teaching preparation and in-teaching implementation. The evaluation of teaching effectiveness included the evaluation of teachers’ teaching methods （student evaluation/self-evaluation） and the evaluation of students’ learning effectiveness （course grade evaluation/humanistic care scale/empathy scale assessment， and others）. ConclusionNarrative education combines abstract concepts with concrete clinical situations， which not only enriches students’ learning experiences but also enhances their humanistic literacy. Meanwhile， it provides teachers with opportunities to develop their narrative teaching skills， which requires them to possess profound professional knowledge and employ narrative techniques to guide students in reflection and critical thinking， thereby improving teaching quality and learning outcomes. Future efforts should consistently deepen the connotation research of narrative education and build a systematic nursing education system.

Background Work alienation is a subjectively negative psychological state characterized by detachment from one's job and its environment. Due to heavy workloads, high-intensity tasks, low compensation, as well as pressures related to promotion, nurses are particularly susceptible to work alienation. Objective To meta-analyze the primary factors affecting work alienation of nurses in China, providing an evidence-based foundation for improving nursing management and nurses' physical and mental health. Methods A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Data, and DBM, for cross-sectional studies on work alienation and its influencing factors among nurses in China published from inception to December 2024. Two researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment for the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.0 and RevMan 5.4 software. Pooled effect sizes were calculated using either fixed-effects or random-effects models based on the magnitude of heterogeneity. Results A total of 27 studies involving 13 028 nurses were included in the meta-analysis, from which 11 influencing factors of work alienation were identified. The pooled score for work alienation among nurses in China was 34.79 (95%CI: 32.56, 37.01). Subgroup analysis revealed that the emergency department reported the highest score (36.81, 95%CI: 31.64, 41.98), followed by the intensive care unit (34.99, 95%CI: 32.27, 37.72) and internal medicine department (33.90, 95%CI: 29.10, 38.71). Significant factors influencing work alienation included length of work experience [standardized mean difference (SMD)=0.32, 95%CI: 0.02, 0.61], professional title (SMD=0.30, 95%CI: 0.16, 0.44), monthly income (SMD=0.38, 95%CI: 0.14, 0.62), psychological capital (SMD=–0.41, 95%CI:–0.52, –0.29), work stress (SMD=0.54, 95%CI: 0.49, 0.58), attitude toward aggression and violence management (SMD=–0.38, 95%CI:–0.44, –0.32), and organizational climate (SMD=–0.47, 95%CI: –0.57, –0.36) (P <0.05). Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of the meta-analysis results, and no significant publication bias was detected. Conclusion Nurses in China exhibit a high level of work alienation, particularly in high-acuity settings like emergency and intensive care unit departments compared to general departments. Shorter work experience (<5 years), lower professional title, lower monthly income (<5 000 CNY), and greater work stress are positively correlated with work alienation. In contrast, psychological capital, proactive attitudes toward managing aggression and violence, and a supportive organizational climate are negatively correlated. These findings indicate a need for nursing managers to develop targeted strategies based on these multifaceted factors to mitigate alienation among nursing staff.

Metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is fundamentally driven by an imbalance in hepatic fatty-acid flux: the influx of fatty acids exceeds the liver’s capacity for disposal, resulting in excessive hepatic lipid accumulation, predominantly in the form of triglycerides (TGs). The occurrence and progression of MAFLD depend on disordered regulation across multiple metabolic steps, including fatty-acid uptake, de novo lipogenesis (DNL), fatty-acid oxidation (FAO), and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) export. Forkhead box protein O1 (FOXO1) is a key transcriptional regulator within the hepatic network coordinating glucose and lipid metabolism. Under metabolic stress and insulin resistance (IR), FOXO1 expression is frequently increased, whereas its inhibitory phosphorylation is reduced. These changes enhance FOXO1 nuclear localization and transcriptional activity, thereby reprogramming the expression of genes related to metabolism in the liver. Because hepatic lipid deposition is the central pathological feature of MAFLD, the functional status of FOXO1 directly influences hepatic lipid homeostasis. Growing evidence suggests that FOXO1 can exert bidirectional, environment-dependent effects on hepatic lipid accumulation; however, the molecular basis for this functional switch remains incompletely understood. This review systematically summarizes the biological functions and regulatory mechanisms of FOXO1 and its roles in hepatic lipid metabolism, with a particular focus on its crosstalk with insulin signaling. FOXO1 expression is shaped by RNA modifications and epigenetic regulation mediated by non-coding RNAs. Its transcriptional output is precisely governed by post-translational modifications—such as phosphorylation and acetylation—as well as by coordinated nucleocytoplasmic shuttling. Notably, these regulatory patterns vary markedly across nutritional states, degrees of insulin resistance, and stages of disease. In the fed state, insulin/IGF-1 signaling activates the PI3K-AKT pathway, promoting the inhibitory phosphorylation of FOXO1 and facilitating additional modifications, including acetylation, methylation, and ubiquitination. Together, these events drive FOXO1 export from the nucleus and dampen its transcriptional activity, suppressing gluconeogenesis and constraining lipogenic programs. Conversely, during fasting or when insulin signaling is weakened, FOXO1 inhibition is relieved. FOXO1 accumulates in the nucleus, binds to DNA, and regulates the transcription of downstream target genes. Mechanistically, FOXO1 can aggravate hepatic lipid accumulation by activating genes involved in TG synthesis while repressing FAO-related pathways, thereby favoring storage over oxidation. However, under specific conditions, FOXO1 may also alleviate the hepatic lipid burden by promoting TG hydrolysis and enhancing VLDL secretion, thereby reducing the net hepatic lipid load. In addition, lipotoxic signals mediated by ceramides and diacylglycerols (Cer/DAG) activate atypical protein kinase C (aPKC), further exacerbating the disruption of the AKT-FOXO1 axis. This vicious cycle ultimately produces a metabolic paradox in which increased hepatic glucose output coexists with persistent, insulin-independent lipogenesis, accelerating MAFLD progression. Importantly, FOXO1 regulation is not uniform: during early metabolic overload, insulin-mediated suppression may remain effective, whereas in advanced insulin resistance, the loss of AKT control permits sustained FOXO1 activity. Such stage-dependent dynamics may help explain why FOXO1 can either promote steatosis or, in certain contexts, support programs that facilitate lipid turnover. Accordingly, interventions should be liver-specific and tuned to the disease stage, aiming to curb maladaptive FOXO1 signaling while preserving its capacity to promote triglyceride hydrolysis and VLDL secretion when advantageous. Overall, this review offers an important perspective on MAFLD pathogenesis, emphasizing FOXO1 as a potential therapeutic target and providing a theoretical basis for developing liver-specific, disease-course-dependent precision interventions.

Objective To analyze the prevalence characteristics and influencing factors of metabolic syndrome (MS) in people aged 35-75 years in Hubei Province. Methods The follow-up data from 2016 to 2022 in the early screening and comprehensive intervention project for high-risk cardiovascular population in Hubei Province were collected. SAS 9.4 software was used to conduct 2-test and multivariate logistic regression to analyze the prevalence of MS and its influencing factors. Results Among the 89 199 subjects, 24 757 were affected by MS, with a prevalence rate of 27.75% and a standardized rate of 23.55%. Among the various components of MS, the prevalence of abnormal blood pressure was the highest, at 70.88%, and the standardized rate was 59.32%. Secondly, abnormal blood glucose was 36.26%, and the standardized rate was 30.04%. Central obesity was 33.12%, and the standardized rate was 30.28%. Hypertriglyceridemia was 32.90%, and the standardized prevalence rate was 32.70%. The rate of low HDL-C syndrome was 10.25%, and the standardized rate was 11.67%. The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of MS increased with age, and the risk of MS in urban residents was lower than that in rural residents (OR=0.835, 95%CI: 0.77-0.886). Administrative and professional workers had a higher risk of MS than farmers (OR=1.313, 95%CI:1.194-1.445). Overweight, obesity, central obesity, history of self-reported hypertension, history of self-reported diabetes, and history of self-reported dyslipidemia were associated with a higher risk of MS, and the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.001). Conclusion The prevalence of MS is high in people aged 35-75 years in Hubei Province. On the basis of comprehensive intervention, focus monitoring should be strengthened to control the risk factors of MS and reduce the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Based on the typical cases from Case Records as a Guide to Clinical Practice （《临证指南医案》） where YE Tianshi applied the "morning and evening differential treatment"， the main types are summarized as follows. When there is middle-lower interlocking injury， and yin deficiency with wind stirring， the method of restraining and consolidating in the morning can be used to restrict jueyang （厥阳）. For deficiency of the extraordinary vessels and heart-spleen ying （营） impairment， the method of consolidating should be used to raise yang in the morning， while the method of moistening and nourishing ying-yin in the evening is used. For lower jiao （焦） depletion with phlegm turbidity obstructing the orifices， it is recommended to tonify lower jiao in the morning and fortify spleen and dissolve phlegm in the evening. If there is kidney-yin depletion with dampness obstructing the qi， it is suggested to supplement kidney and improve qi reception in the morning， while purify upper jiao in the evening. For deficiency and impairment of the collateral vessels， the method of moistening and nourishing ying-yin in the evening can be used. For heart-spleen qi knot， it is recommended to dissolve phlegm and dispel stasis in the evening. In clinical practice， the same medicinal formula can be used with different methods which change according to the syndrome. Taking Sishen Pills （四神丸） and Yuhu Elixir （玉壶丹） as examples， employing different methods in accordance with the primary and secondary pathomechanisms can help transform complex， multiple pathomechanisms into organized treatment steps， providing ideas for managing complicated syndromes with modern Chinese medicine in clinical practice.

Lung cancer remains the most prevalent malignancy worldwide, with the highest incidence and mortality rates. Its complex tumor microenvironment (TME) poses major challenges for conventional two-dimensional (2D) culture systems and animal models, which fail to accurately reproduce in vivo pathological conditions. In recent years, three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting technology—featuring controllable spatial resolution, multi-cell co-printing capability, and structural reproducibility—has emerged as a powerful tool for reconstructing the lung cancer TME. This review systematically summarizes recent progress in 3D bioprinted lung cancer models, encompassing printing techniques, optimization of bio-ink systems, model construction strategies, and the clinical relevance of drug sensitivity testing. Particular attention is given to vascularization and immune co-culture approaches that recapitulate tumor heterogeneity, metabolic gradients, and immune interactions. The advantages of 3D bioprinted models over traditional 2D cultures in predicting therapeutic responses and enabling precision drug screening and personalized treatment are also highlighted. Future research should focus on standardizing bio-ink formulations, integrating patient-derived organoids with microfluidic platforms, and establishing robust evaluation systems to facilitate the clinical translation and application of 3D bioprinting in precision lung cancer diagnosis and therapy.

Triptolide （TP）， the core active component of the traditional Chinese medicine Tripterygium wilfordii ， exhibits remarkable pharmacological activities including anti-inflammatory， immunosuppressive and anti-tumor effects， and holds broad application prospects in the treatment of major diseases such as autoimmune diseases and malignant tumors. However， TP has a narrow therapeutic window and causes multi-organ toxicities including liver， kidney and reproductive toxicities， which severely restrict its safe clinical application and new drug development. Therefore， toxicity reduction and efficacy enhancement has become a core scientific problem urgently to be solved in this field. This paper systematically reviews the four core strategies for TP toxicity reduction and efficacy enhancement， including structural modification， dosage form improvement， herbal compatibility， and external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine. Among them， structural modification optimizes the toxic and efficacy characteristics of TP from the molecular structure level， with typica l derivatives including （5 R ）-5-hydroxy triptolide， ZT01， PG490-88， etc. Dosage form modification achieves toxicity reduction and efficacy enhancement via targeted and sustained-controlled drug release of diverse delivery systems. It includes triptolide preparations such as nanoparticles， liposomes， microemulsion gels and liquid crystals， possessing favorable clinical transformation potential. The herbal compatibility and external therapies of traditional Chinese medicine conform to the holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine and have a profound clinical application foundation， but their mechanisms of action are insufficiently elucidated， and they lack unified standardized specifications and high-quality evidence-based proof. In the future， we should rely on multi-omics technology to elucidate the toxic and efficacy mechanisms， integrate technologies to optimize preparations， improve the evaluation system and promote clinical transformation.

Pterygium is a proliferative disorder of the conjunctiva associated with chronic ocular surface inflammation, and the pathogenesis remains incompletely understood. The previous research focusing solely on single pathogens like human papillomavirus(HPV)has shifted towards emphasizing the central role of microbial dysbiosis. Recent studies indicate that ocular surface dysbiosis plays a critical role in the development and progression of pterygium by disrupting ocular surface immune homeostasis. Research has demonstrated that environmental factors(such as ultraviolet radiation, high altitude, and dust exposure)can induce a reduction in microbial diversity and an increased abundance of opportunistic pathogens(such as corynebacterium). This dysbiotic state activates pattern recognition receptors(PRRs), triggering the release of inflammatory cytokines via signaling pathways like NF-κB, thereby initiating chronic ocular surface inflammation. This inflammatory cascade promotes aberrant epithelial proliferation, angiogenesis, and impaired tissue repair, ultimately driving pterygium formation. This review aims to elucidate the pivotal role of the ocular surface microbiota-immune-inflammation axis in pterygium pathogenesis, providing a foundation for exploring more effective prevention and treatment strategies.

With the extensive application of nuclear technology in industry, agriculture, and medicine, the safety issues associated with neutron radiation have become increasingly prominent. Due to their high penetrability and strong ionization effect, neutrons can cause serious health risks by directly damaging DNA or inducing secondary γ radiation. Therefore, the neutron radiation protection has become a core challenge in radiation protection, especially the research and development of neutron shielding materials. To ensure the safe development of nuclear technology, neutron shielding materials are indispensable and constitute a fundamental core technology for radiation protection. This paper reviews the theory of neutron radiation protection and the research progress of neutron shielding materials, with a focus on the current application status and existing problems of neutron shielding materials. This article also discusses the future development trends. This review aims to provide theoretical support and technical references for the safe application and development of nuclear technology.
