Vision is the primary perceptual mode through which humans and higher animals acquire external information. Visual perception encompasses various aspects of visual processing and has been widely applied in ophthalmic clinical practice. Based on the principle of neural plasticity, visual perception training relies on the visual signal processing mechanism. After receiving external visual signals, the retina transmits them via the optic nerve to the brain, where the cerebral cortex decodes, extracts, and processes the information. By stimulating specific visual information, visual perception training activates visual processing pathways, strengthens synaptic connections among neurons within these pathways, and ultimately enhances the cerebral cortex's ability to integrate and process information, thereby improving patients' visual function and experience. This article explores the application of visual perception training in conditions such as amblyopia, myopia, presbyopia, strabismus, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and optic pathway lesions, discussing its value in improving visual function. It provides theoretical references for the intervention and treatment of related diseases. Visual perception training has been widely applied in various ophthalmic diseases with confirmed clinical efficacy, and it may play a broader role in neurologically related systemic diseases, demonstrating certain clinical application value.

Journal of Environmental and Occupational Medicine 2026;43(3):354-362
Background Work alienation is a subjectively negative psychological state characterized by detachment from one's job and its environment. Due to heavy workloads, high-intensity tasks, low compensation, as well as pressures related to promotion, nurses are particularly susceptible to work alienation. Objective To meta-analyze the primary factors affecting work alienation of nurses in China, providing an evidence-based foundation for improving nursing management and nurses' physical and mental health. Methods A systematic search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Data, and DBM, for cross-sectional studies on work alienation and its influencing factors among nurses in China published from inception to December 2024. Two researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction, and risk of bias assessment for the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata 15.0 and RevMan 5.4 software. Pooled effect sizes were calculated using either fixed-effects or random-effects models based on the magnitude of heterogeneity. Results A total of 27 studies involving 13 028 nurses were included in the meta-analysis, from which 11 influencing factors of work alienation were identified. The pooled score for work alienation among nurses in China was 34.79 (95%CI: 32.56, 37.01). Subgroup analysis revealed that the emergency department reported the highest score (36.81, 95%CI: 31.64, 41.98), followed by the intensive care unit (34.99, 95%CI: 32.27, 37.72) and internal medicine department (33.90, 95%CI: 29.10, 38.71). Significant factors influencing work alienation included length of work experience [standardized mean difference (SMD)=0.32, 95%CI: 0.02, 0.61], professional title (SMD=0.30, 95%CI: 0.16, 0.44), monthly income (SMD=0.38, 95%CI: 0.14, 0.62), psychological capital (SMD=–0.41, 95%CI:–0.52, –0.29), work stress (SMD=0.54, 95%CI: 0.49, 0.58), attitude toward aggression and violence management (SMD=–0.38, 95%CI:–0.44, –0.32), and organizational climate (SMD=–0.47, 95%CI: –0.57, –0.36) (P <0.05). Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of the meta-analysis results, and no significant publication bias was detected. Conclusion Nurses in China exhibit a high level of work alienation, particularly in high-acuity settings like emergency and intensive care unit departments compared to general departments. Shorter work experience (<5 years), lower professional title, lower monthly income (<5 000 CNY), and greater work stress are positively correlated with work alienation. In contrast, psychological capital, proactive attitudes toward managing aggression and violence, and a supportive organizational climate are negatively correlated. These findings indicate a need for nursing managers to develop targeted strategies based on these multifaceted factors to mitigate alienation among nursing staff.

Objective:
To investigate the status of condom use and its influencing factors among men who have sex with men (MSM), so as to provide a basis for improving condom utilization rates and AIDS prevention and control in this population.
Methods:
From May to October 2024, a snowball sampling method was employed to recruit MSM in Songjiang District, Shanghai Municipality. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect data on demographic characteristics, AIDS-related knowledge, sexual behaviors, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), and condom use in the past six months. Multivariable logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors for consistent condom use.
Results:
A total of 921 MSM were surveyed, with a median age of 29.00 (interquartile range, 9.00) years. Among them, 697 (75.68%) were aware of AIDS-related knowledge, 826 (89.69%) expressed willingness to use PrEP, and 835 (90.66%) were willing to use PEP. Additionally, 787 (85.45%) MSM reported their age at first homosexual intercourse as ≥18 years, while 519 (56.35%) reported consistent condom use in the past six months. Multivariable logistic regression analysis revealed that MSM who were aware of AIDS-related knowledge (OR=0.582, 95% CI: 0.423-0.801), willing to use PrEP (OR =0.611, 95% CI: 0.385-0.969), and whose age at first homosexual intercourse was <18 years (OR=0.480, 95% CI: 0.330-0.700) were less likely to consistent use condoms.
Conclusion
The proportion of consistent condom use among the MSM remains relatively low, which is primarily associated with AIDS-related knowledge, willingness to use PrEP, and the age at first homosexual intercourse.

Suicidal cases involving sodium nitrite have been reported worldwide. However, postmortem features, such as brownish or grayish livor mortis, remain difficult to interpret, especially as decomposition advances. Here, we present three fatal cases (2020-2023) presumably caused by sodium nitrite ingestion. In these cases, characteristic nitrite-induced changes were inconsistent or obscured by decomposition, but ingestion traces (cup or bottle near the decedents) were observed at each scene. Additionally, containers labeled “sodium nitrite” were found in two cases; however, since sodium nitrite is designated a suicide-hazardous material in South Korea, future scenes may rarely reveal such clear labeling. Although autopsy, including methemoglobin testing, can confirm the cause of death, any delay in the investigative process risks the loss of critical evidence about the ingestion process and other factors. This underscores the importance of focusing on early scene evidence, particularly ingestion traces, and conducting thorough chemical and forensic examinations. Our findings illustrate that timely detection of ingestion-related evidence and subsequent forensic analysis, in conjunction with autopsy results, can elucidate a decedent’s cause and manner of death and clarify any criminal implications.

Blood Research 2025;60():1-
Purpose:
This network meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the relative efficacy of systemic treatments in patients with relapsed/refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (R/R CLL), focusing on key genetic mutations, specifically the 17p deletion and TP53 mutations.
Methods:
We conducted a systematic literature review to identify all publicly available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane database, and meeting abstracts published through December 2023.A Bayesian network meta-analysis was performed to estimate the hazard ratios (HRs) for progression-free survival (PFS) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) and to determine the ranking of the included regimens.
Results:
Twelve trials involving 4,437 patients and 13 treatment options were included in the meta-analysis. Venetoclax plus rituximab and zanubrutinib emerged as the most effective treatments for the overall R/R CLL population, showing the lowest PFS HR (HR 0.62, 95% CI 0.32–1.20 and HR 0.65, 95% CI 0.49–0.86, respectively) versus ibrutinib, and were ranked as the best agent (surface under the cumulative ranking curve [SUCRA] value of both 90%, respectively) among the included drugs. In the 17p deletion/TP53 mutation subgroup, zanubrutinib demonstrated the most favorable efficacy (HR 0.52, 95% CI 0.31–0.88 versus ibrutinib) with the highest SUCRA value (97%). In patients without these mutations, venetoclax plus rituximab was the most effective (HR 0.49, 95% CI 0.26–0.94 versus ibrutinib) with a SUCRA value of 94%.
Conclusion
Our findings highlight the superior efficacy of venetoclax plus rituximab and zanubrutinib for treating R/R CLL and confirm that the role of each regimen may vary depending on the clinically significant mutations.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a well-accepted therapy for atopic dermatitis (AD). However, there are currently no evidence-based guidelines integrating TCM and Western medicine for the treatment of AD, limiting the clinical application of such combined approaches. Therefore, the China Association of Chinese Medicine initiated the development of the current guideline, focusing on key issues related to the use of TCM in the treatment of AD. This guideline was developed in accordance with the principles of the guideline formulation manual published by the World Health Organization. A comprehensive review of the literature on the combined use of TCM and Western medicine to treat AD was conducted. The findings were extensively discussed by experts in dermatology and pharmacy with expertise in both TCM and Western medicine. This guideline comprises 23 recommendations across seven major areas, including TCM syndrome differentiation and classification of AD, principles and application scenarios of TCM combined with Western medicine for treating AD, outcome indicators for evaluating clinical efficacy of AD treatment, integration of TCM pattern classification and Western medicine across disease stages, daily management of AD, the use of internal TCM therapies and proprietary Chinese medicines, and TCM external treatments. ObjectiveTo investigate the association of particulate matter and ozone with the prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in a district of Shanghai, and to provide epidemiological evidence for the further identification of early health hazards of air pollution and for the prevention and control of NAFLD. MethodsBased on Songjiang Sub-cohort of Shanghai Natural Population Cohort, a cross-sectional survey design was used to recruit participants from 2016 to 2017. Annual average exposure levels to air pollution from 2009 to 2017 were matched to the participant’s residential address using a high-resolution and high-quality ambient air pollutants dataset in China. NAFLD was diagnosed according to the “Guidelines for the prevention and treatment of metabolism⁃associated (non⁃alcoholic) fatty liver disease” by the Chinese Medical Association. Multivariate logistic regression models were employed to analyze the association between air pollution and the prevalence of NAFLD, and stratified analyses were used to compare differences by age, gender, obesity, and lifestyle habits within subgroups. ResultsA total of 32 791 individuals were included in the study. The prevalence of NAFLD among community residents in suburban Shanghai was 38.88%. For every 1 μg·m-3 increase in PM1, PM2.5, PM10, or O3, the risk of NAFLD increased correspongdinglt, with the odds ratios (95%CI) of 1.071 (1.043‒1.099), 1.065 (1.042‒1.089), 1.041 (1.027‒1.055), or 1.061 (1.032‒1.091), respectively. There were differences in effects across different gender, age, and obesity status subgroups. ConclusionPM1, PM2.5, PM10, and O3 are positively associated with an increased risk of NAFLD. Stratified analyses reveal that individuals aged 65 years old or above exhibited greater susceptibility to PM1, PM2.5, and O3, whereas those aged less than 65 years old are more vulnerable to PM10. Males are more sensitive to PM1 and O3, and females are more susceptible to PM2.5 and PM10. The association between air pollutant exposure and NAFLD risk is more pronounced among obese participants compared to that in non-obese counterparts.

MethodsMedical records, including demographic information, diagnosis and treatment information, laboratory testing results, treatment outcomes, patient prognoses, and etc., of all the patients registered for first-time management, with the disease type of pulmonary tuberculosis in Jing’an District from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2023 were extracted from the Tuberculosis Management Information System of China’s Disease Control and Prevention Information System. The reported incidence rate of pulmonary tuberculosis from 2018 to 2023 was analyzed. Additionally, the delay rate for medical consultation, diagnostic delay rate, prevalence of pulmonary cavity, rate of sputum smear-positive, sputum conversion rate of smear-positive patients after 2 months, proportion of deaths attributable to pulmonary tuberculosis or other causes, and the proportion of patients with treatment duration >1 year in 2018‒2019, 2020‒2022, and 2023 were compared, respectively. ResultsA total of 1 378 pulmonary tuberculosis patients were registered for management in Jing’an District in 2018‒2023, with a reported incidence rate of 25.97/100 000, 25.72/100 000, 23.93/100 000, 22.36/100 000, 18.18/100 000, and 22.32/100 000, respectively. Meanwhile, the overall reported incidence rates in 2018‒2019, 2020‒2022, and 2023 were 25.84/100 000, 21.53/100 000, and 22.32/100 000, respectively. The median age of the patients was 56 (33, 67) years, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.94∶1. The patients with a household registration of Shanghai accounted for 70.75%, among whom those aged between 61‒<71 years were the majority. Whereas, those aged between 31‒<41 years accounted for a higher proportion in the long-term resident population. The median delay times of patient’s medical consultation, diagnosis, and case-finding were 25 (19, 33) days, 29 (21, 43) days, and 41 (32, 66) days, respectively. The delay rate for medical consultation was higher in 2020‒2022 (47.99%) and 2023 (46.89%), but lower in 2018‒2019 (31.02%). In 2018‒2019, 2020‒2022, and 2023, the diagnostic delay rate was 12.41% (68/548), 13.53% (84/621), and 16.75% (35/209), respectively. Besides, during the same time the delay rate in case-finding was 19.53%, 27.05% and 34.45%, respectively, all exhibited an increasing trend. Furthermore, the rate of patients with pulmonary cavity was 16.06%, 14.98%, and 11.00%, respectively, showing a decreasing trend. Furthermore, the rate of sputum smear-positive was 27.19%, 33.33% and 32.54%, while the sputum conversion rate of smear-positive patients after 2 months was 81.21%, 85.02% and 89.71%. The mortality rates due to tuberculosis and other causes were 3.10%, 5.64%, and 3.83%, respectively. The proportion of patients with a treatment duration of ≥365 days was 44.27% in 2018‒2019, 39.93% in 2020‒2022 and 26.60% in 2023. ConclusionThe overall reported incidence rate of pulmonary tuberculosis in Jing’an District showed a decline trend from 2018‒2022, with a slight rebound in 2023. Targeted interventions should be prioritized for the elderly with local household registration and young permanent residents without Shanghai household registration.
