Objective: To establish an accurate and rapid typing method for Rh typing of samples from patients who have received recent blood transfusions by utilizing the difference in osmotic fragility between fresh and old red blood cells. Methods: A lysing solution suitable for destroying old RBCs was prepared. Sixty-one samples collected in our hospital in 2024 with Rh typing of double groups were treated with the lysing solution to remove the old allogeneic red blood cells while preserving the patient's own fresh red blood cells, followed by repeat Rh typing tests. Results: For 61 samples with Rh typing in double groups, 41 were accurately detected identified through the red blood cell lysis method, yielding an identification rate of 67.21%. No significant difference was observed compared to the detection rate of the commonly used capillary centrifugation modified method (χ =0.103, P>0.05). Conclusion: The red blood cell lysis method provides a novel and rapid experimental approach for clinical use in processing Rh-typed samples that are of double groups, thereby offering a basis for Rh compatibility blood transfusion.

Traditional Chinese medicine contains a variety of volatile components （VOCs） such as terpenes and aliphatics, which have significant pharmacological activities, and are commonly analyzed by gas chromatography （GC） and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry （GC-MS）. Although the separation ability is strong, the samples need to be pre-treated and the analysis time is long. In recent years, the combination of GC and ion migration spectrometry （IMS） has been widely used in the academic community. The combination of high separation ability of GC and rapid reaction ability of IMS has the advantages of no sample pretreatment, fast analysis time, low detection limit and simple operation. It is increasingly used in traditional Chinese medicine research. The working principle of GC-IMS was introduced, the application in VOCs research of traditional Chinese medicine was summarized, and the future development direction was prospected in this paper.

Objective:To explore the clinical value of autologous umbilical cord whole blood(UCB) priming of the cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB) circuit in neonatal cardiac surgery for congenital heart disease(CHD).Methods:This prospective non-randomized controlled trial included neonates undergoing CHD surgery at Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital from August 2024 to January 2025. The experimental group used autologous UCB for CPB circuit priming, while the control group used adult allogeneic blood(AAB) priming when UCB was unavailable. Preoperative characteristics, intraoperative CPB and aortic cross-clamping(ACC) times, postoperative ICU stay duration, mechanical ventilation time, and hospitalization length were compared.Results:There were no significant differences in preoperative baseline characteristics between the two groups( P>0.05). At the end of surgery, red blood cell count(RBC), hemoglobin level(Hb), and creatine kinase(CK) showed no significant differences between the groups( P> 0.05). Additionally, perioperative left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) demonstrated no statistically significant variations( P>0.05). At surgery completion, the UCB group exhibited lower hematocrit(HCT) and higher blood lactic acid(Lac) levels but these differences resolved by 6 hours postoperatively( P>0.05). The UCB group had higher maximum vasoactive-inotropic scores(VISmax) within 48 hours and longer ICU stays, though total hospitalization and mechanical ventilation durations showed no significant differences( P>0.05). Conclusion:Autologous UCB priming reduces AAB requirements and has minimal impact on postoperative cardiac and pulmonary function recovery, or homeostasis., which is safe and feasible. This study provides evidence supporting the clinical application of UCB priming in CPB circuits.

Objective:To determine the prevalence of self-reported food allergies among children in the grasslands of North China and to analyze its associated risk factors.Methods:In this study, a cross-sectional epidemiological survey method was used to select children under 14 years old by multi-stage, stratified and random cluster sampling in the grassland ecological area of Zhangbei County, Hebei Province, China from May to July 2018. Face-to-face questionnaires were administered to gather food allergy-related information from the participants. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors associated with self-reported food allergy.Results:A total of 2 086 children completed the survey. The prevalence of self-reported food allergies was 22.0%(459/2 086). The prevalence of multiple food allergies (≥3 types) was 3.1%(64/2 086) versus 16.3% (341/2 086) for a single food allergy among all children. Mango allergy (6.1%, 127/2 086) was the most common, followed by peach allergy (4.1%, 85/2 086). Children who reported food allergies had a significantly higher prevalence of all 4 atopic disorders (eczema, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and allergic conjunctivitis than those without food allergies(35.73% vs. 20.65%, 5.88% vs. 2.77%, 17.86% vs. 7.38%, 16.78% vs. 10.45%, χ2 =44.663 1, 10.434 3, 45.038 3, 13.728 4, all P<0.001).Significantly associated risk factors of food allergy were found to be pollen allergy ( OR: 2.29; 95% CI: 1.80-2.92) and drug allergy ( OR: 1.53; 95% CI: 1.12-2.09). Conclusions:The prevalence of self-reported food allergies among children in the Zhangbei County area of the North China Grassland was relatively high. Pollen allergy and drug allergy are major risk factors.

Objective:To explore the multiple mediating roles of intrinsic motivation and proactive behavior in the influence mechanism of perceived overqualification on the information literacy of Operating Room nurses engaged in organ transplantation.Methods:On November 2023, 308 Operating Room nurses engaged in organ transplantation from 12 hospitals in China were selected for the survey using convenience sampling method. General information questionnaire, Information Literacy Self-Rating Scale for Clinical Nurses, the 9-item Scale of Perceived Over Qualification, Intrinsic Motivation Scale, and Proactive Behavior Scale were used to investigate and to construct the chain mediating model.Results:A total of 308 questionnaires were collected and 294 questionnaires were valid, with a valid recovery rate of 95.45%. The total scores of information literacy, perceived overqualification, intrinsic motivation and proactive behavior of 294 Operating Room nurses engaged in organ transplantation were (133.95±19.07), (23.71±7.82), (76.47±13.38) and (38.01±6.31) respectively. The indirect effect of perceived overqualification of Operating Room nurses engaged in organ transplantation on information literacy existed, with a total indirect effect value of -0.348. The specific indirect effect of intrinsic motivation was 40.80% of the total indirect effect, the specific indirect effect of proactive behavior was 31.03% of the total indirect effect, and the chain mediating effect of intrinsic motivation and proactive behavior was 28.16% of the total indirect effect.Conclusions:Multiple mediating roles of intrinsic motivation and proactive behavior in the influence mechanisms of perceived overqualification on the information literacy of Operating Room nurses involved in organ transplantation are established. Managers can improve the information literacy of Operating Room nurses engaged in organ transplantation by reducing their perceived overqualification and stimulating intrinsic motivation and proactive behavior.

Objective To explore the predictive value of the triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(TG/HDL-C)ratio com-bined with the mean platelet volume/platelet count(MPV/PC)ratio for in-stent restenosis(ISR)after percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)in elderly patients with coronary heart disease.Methods A total of 240 elderly patients with coronary heart disease admitted at the Pingmei Shenma Medical Group General Hospital from January 2021 to January 2023 were selected and divided into the ISR(36 cases)and non-ISR(204 cases)groups based on whether ISR occurred 6 months after PCI.The clinical data,TG/HDL-C ratio,and MPV/PC ratio of the two groups were compared,and Pearson's correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the TG/HDL-C and MPV/PC ratios.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the TG/HDL-C ratio,MPV/PC ratio,and ISR after PCI.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and area under the curve(AUC)were used to evaluate the predictive value of the TG/HDL-C and MPV/PC ratios for ISR after PCI in older patients with coronary heart disease.Results There were statisti-cally significant differences in the comparisons of diabetes,hypertension,the degree of coronary artery stenosis,and stent diameter between the two groups(P<0.05);the ISR group had higher TG levels,MPV levels,TG/HDL-C ratios,and MPV/PC ratios,and lower HDL-C and PC levels compared to the non-ISR group(P<0.05);the TG/HDL-C ratio was positively correlated with the MPV/PC ratio(P<0.05);the TG/HDL-C and MPV/PC ratios were independently associated with ISR after PCI in older patients with coronary heart disease(P<0.05);and the AUC for predicting ISR after PCI in older patients with coronary heart disease was 0.759 and 0.784 for the TG/HDL-C and MPV/PC ratios,respectively,and the combined prediction showed an AUC of 0.921,which was superior to that of either alone.Conclusion The TG/HDL-C and MPV/PC ratios were significantly correlated with ISR in elderly patients with coronary heart disease after PCI,and their combined predictive value was reliable.

Objective:To investigate the effects of the novel oral edaravone(EDA)on rats with diabetic encepha-lopathy(DE).Methods:The network pharmacology research methodology was employed to elucidate the mechanism of action of oral EDA in the treatment of diabetes mellitus,identify intersecting targets,and conduct initial validation of these findings in vivo.Thirty male SD rats were randomly assigned to three groups:A normal control(control)group,a diabetic encephalopathy DE(DE)group,and an oral edaravone treatment(DE+EDA)group.Diabetic encephalop-athy was induced in both the DE and DE+EDA groups using the streptozotocin(STZ)method.After successful model-ing,the DE+EDA group received oral administration of EDA,while the other two groups were administered equal doses of saline as controls.Serum samples were examined for lipid release rate,and the protein expression levels of oxidative stress factor 3-nitrotyrosine(3-NT)and apoptotic factor cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase-3(caspase-3)in brain tissues were detected by Western blot.Brain samples were stained with HE staining to observe the pathological changes.Histopathological changes were observed through hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining.Results:Network pharmacological analysis yielded 27 core targets,and functional annotation of gene bioprocesses showed that the intersecting targets were mainly enriched in response to oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis.Serum-related lipid assay showed that the DE+EDA group had significantly improved lipid metabolism disorders compared with the DE group.Additionally,expression levels of 3-NT and caspase-3 were significantly higher in the DE group when compared with controls(P＜0.05);How-ever,both markers exhibited a significant decrease within the DE+EDA treatment cohort as opposed to their counter-parts in the DE group(P＜0.05).HE staining showed that in DE group the cellular arrangement was disordered,the cells were shrunk with intact plasma membrane,and the nuclei were condensed showing karyopyknosis,fragmented and dissolved.Compared with the DE group,the brain tissue in the DE+EDA group was relatively dense and neatly ar-ranged,and the cell karyopyknosis,fragmentation and lysis were significantly improved.Conclusion:Both network pharmacology and in vivo experiments provide preliminary evidence that oral EDA reduces damage in diabetic encepha-lopathy rats.

Objective To introduce a modified technique of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) reconstruction using a handmade bicuspid pulmonary valve crafted from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) and to summarize the early single-center experience. Methods Patients with complex congenital heart diseases (CHD) who underwent RVOT reconstruction with a handmade ePTFE bicuspid pulmonary valve due to pulmonary regurgitation at Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital from April 2021 to February 2022 were selected. Postoperative artificial valve function and right heart function indicators were evaluated. Results A total of 17 patients were included, comprising 10 males and 7 females, with a mean age of (18.18±12.14) years and a mean body weight of (40.94±19.45) kg. Sixteen patients underwent reconstruction with a handmade valved conduit, with conduit sizes ranging from 18 to 24 mm. No patients required mechanical circulatory support, and no in-hospital deaths occurred. During a mean follow-up period of 12.89 months, only one patient developed valve dysfunction, and no related complications or adverse events were observed. The degree of pulmonary regurgitation was significantly improved post-RVOT reconstruction and during follow-up compared to preoperative levels (P<0.001). Postoperative right atrial diameter, right ventricular diameter, and tricuspid regurgitation area were all significantly reduced compared to preoperative values (P<0.05). Conclusion The use of a 0.1 mm ePTFE handmade bicuspid pulmonary valve for RVOT reconstruction in complex CHD is a feasible, effective, and safe technique.
