Objective To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with manual reduction on pain and lumbar function in elderly patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis under the guidance of the Bone Strengthening and Tendon Softening Theory. Methods Ninety elderly patients with lumbar spondylolisthesis treated in our hospital from January 2021 to April 2023 were selected as study subjects.Based on a random number table method, the participants were divided into experimental group and control group, each consisting of 45 cases. The control group received acupuncture treatment, while the experimental group received manual reduction treatment on top of that. Both groups underwent continuous treatment for 4 weeks. We compared the two groups in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome score,Visual Analog Scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopaedic Association(JOA)lumbar function score,Oswestry Disability Index(ODI),serum inflammatory factor level, and clinical efficacy between before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in TCM syndrome scores or VAS scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, both TCM syndrome scores and VAS scores significantly decreased in both groups, with the experimental group showing significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in JOA scores and ODI scores between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,JOA scores significantly increased in both groups, with the experimental group showing significantly higher scores than the control group(P<0.05).ODI scores significantly decreased in both groups, with the experimental group showing significantly lower scores than the control group(P<0.05).Before treatment, the two groups did not differ significantly in serum IL-6,TNF-α,or CRP levels(P>0.05).After treatment, serum IL-6,TNF-α,and CRP levels significantly decreased in both groups, with the experimental group showing lower levels than the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate in the experimental group was 88.89%,significantly higher than 68.89% in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with manual reduction guided by the Bone Straightening and Tendon Softening theory can effectively alleviate pain, improve various TCM syndromes, enhance lumbar function level, and show significant clinical efficacy in patients.

Objective To investigate the drinking pattern and the condition of alcoholic fatty liver disease in a certain coal mine workers in Shanxi Province. Methods A total of 1501 workers in a coal mine in Shanxi Province were surveyed by field investigation method.Contents include questionnaire, physical measurement, abdominal ultrasound liver and fasting blood glucose, blood lipid, liver function, cholesterol, blood biochemical indicator detection.ALD diagnostic criteria for fatty liver and alcoholic liver disease group were .recommended by the Chinese Medical Association in 2010.The t test,X2 test and multiariable logistic regression analysis were conducted by SPSS17.0 software. Results This study involved ALD patients with 265 people, accounting for 17.65% of the total survey. The drinking pattern, such as drinking patterns in the initial drinking age, long duration of drinking, drinking frequency, drunkenness, fasting drinking, average daily alcohol intake as the risk factors of alcoholic liver disease. The Logistic regression analysis of alcoholic liver disease related factors showed that, drinking age, drinking way and daily average alcohol intake were closely related to the occurrence of ALD(OR=0.942,P=0.769;OR=2.811,P=0.000;OR=1.756,P=0.000;OR=542.844,P=0.001) .Conclusion In the coal mine workers, drinking pattern in the initial drinking age, drinking age, daily average alcohol intake are closely related to ALD illness.

Cervical ectopic thymus rarely occur. We reported a case of cervical thymus presenting as a unilateral neck mass in an infant. Ultrasonography showed a low echo-level mass with clear border and abundant blood flow signal in the left neck. Preoperative chest CT revealed normal structures in the superior mediastinum including the thymus. Surgical resection was performed and the histological diagnosis was ectopic cervical thymus.

ObjectiveTo investigate the condition of infants with urolithiasis caused by melaminetainted powdered formula at one-year follow-up. Methods Eighty-one young children with melamine-induced urolithiasis were followed up,which included urinalysis,renal-function tests, urinary tests for biochemical markers of renal glomerular and tubular function, and ultrasonography.Eighty-one age-matched healthy infants without exposure to melamine-contaminated formulas were enrolled as controls. Results Fifty-one of the patients were male and 30 female, with a mean age of 26 months (range 13 -48 months). The 81 children were divided into 2 groups according to treatment protocols.Group 1 received conservative treatment ( n =54 ) and Group 2 received surgical treatment ( n =27 ).In Group 1,3 patients (5.6%) had stone-residual:1 girl had calculus of 0.4 cm in diameter in the left kidney and 2 girls had calculus of 0.3 cm in diameter in the right kidney. In Group 2,2 patients (7.4%) had stone-residual,1 boy had crystallization of 0.2 cm in diameter in the right kidney and 1 boy had calculus of 1.5 cm in diameter in the left kidney, positive stone was confirmed by X-ray and accepted percutaneous nephrolithotomy.Urinary microalbumin levels were significantly increased in the children with melamine-induced urolithiasis compared with the control group (P <0.01 ).Blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine were within the normal range with no significant difference between the 2 groups. ConclusionsAt one-year follow-up most of the children exposed to melamine-tainted infant formula in both treatment groups had returned to a healthy state, suggesting a satisfactory outcome for both treatment options. However, surgery is recommended in patients with stoneresidual > 10 mm.
