Radiotherapy uses high-energy X-rays or other particles to destroy cancer cells and medical practitioners have used this approach extensively for cancer treatment (Hachadorian et al., 2020). However, it is accompanied by risks because it seriously harms normal cells while killing cancer cells. The side effects can lower cancer patients' quality of life and are very unpredictable due to individual differences (Bentzen, 2006). Therefore, it is essential to assess a patient's body damage after radiotherapy to formulate an individualized recovery treatment plan. Exhaled volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be changed by radiotherapy and thus used for medical diagnosis (Vaks et al., 2012). During treatment, high-energy X-rays can induce apoptosis; meanwhile, cell membranes are damaged due to lipid peroxidation, converting unsaturated fatty acids into volatile metabolites (Losada-Barreiro and Bravo-Díaz, 2017). At the same time, radiotherapy oxidizes water, resulting in reactive oxygen species (ROS) that can increase the epithelial permeability of pulmonary alveoli, enabling the respiratory system to exhale volatile metabolites (Davidovich et al., 2013; Popa et al., 2020). These exhaled VOCs can be used to monitor body damage caused by radiotherapy.

Methods:
The questionnaire of HPV vaccine hesitancy of female college students was designed. By adopting the stratified sampling method, the survey was conducted among female students at one medical university and three nonmedical universities in Weifang. Chi-square test and Logistic regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of vaccine hesitation.
Results:
Female college students who had high risk perception toward vaccine (OR=4.15, 95%CI=1.55-11.10) and those who were angry about the sideeffects of the vaccine (OR=3.63, 95%CI=1.95-6.75) were hesitate to vaccinate against HPV. Female college students who believed long protection period of HPV vaccine (OR=0.08, 95%CI=0.04-0.17), that women had a high probability of cervical cancer (OR=0.44, 95%CI=0.21-0.90) and that the knowledge of HPV vaccine scored >6 (OR=0.31, 95%CI=0.15-0.67) were more likely to receive HPV vaccine.
Conclusion
High risk perception of vaccines and anger at vaccine adverse reactions are important factors affecting HPV vaccines for female college students. Our findings call for strategic role of the state, school-based health education as well as medical professional guidance in lowering HPV vaccination hesitation among fenale college sutdents.
3.Research progress on nano-calcium phosphate modified dental materials for the prevention and treatment of dental pulp diseases
Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2021;29(9):634-637
Nanomaterials usually refer to tiny particles with a diameter of 1-100 nm, which often have unique physicochemical properties and are one of the main areas of research interest for development of dental biomaterials. Nano-calcium phosphate modified dental materials have been widely used in pit and fissure sealing, dental resin restoration, tooth adhesion, and root canal sealing. The current research shows that the dental material modified by nano-calcium phosphate has stronger mechanical properties and shows long-term calcium and phosphorus ion release and excellent ion recharging ability, which can promote the remineralization of tooth hard tissue and has good prospects for application. However, it is difficult to accurately simulate the complex environment of the oral cavity. Therefore, the biocompatibility, cytotoxicity and effect of clinical application of nano-calcium phosphate modified dental materials still needs further study. This review summarizes and discusses the recent research progress regarding nano-calcium phosphate modified dental materials in the prevention and treatment of dental pulp diseases.

Objective:To investigate the expressions of HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1, LC3B and p62 in breast cancer tissues and their clinicopathological significance, and to study alterations of their expression in breast cancer cells under hypoxic microenvironment. Methods:Immunohistochemistry was used to detect HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1, LC3B and p62 protein expressions in 125 breast cancer tissues and 50 para-cancer normal breast tissues, and their correlation with clinicopathologic characteristics were analyzed. The expression of these proteins were also measured after 24 hours of hypoxia stimulation was detected in different breast cancer cell lines and normal breast epithelial cells. Results:The expression of HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1 and LC3B proteins in breast cancer tissues were significantly higher than in para-cancer normal breast tissues ( P<0.05). There was a positive association between histologic grade, the expression of HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1 and LC3B ( P<0.05). High expressions of HIF-1a and Beclin1 were often correlated with lymph node metastasis and lymphatic invasion ( P<0.05). Increased HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1 and LC3B expression was associated with ER or PR negativity, but only HIF-1α was associated with HER2 positivity ( P<0.05). HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1, and LC3B were positively correlated with each other in breast cancer tissues ( P<0.01). After 24 hours of hypoxic stimulation, the expression of HIF-1α, BRD4, Beclin1 and LC3B was up-regulated in breast cancer cells. Conclusions:Hypoxia induces autophagy in breast cancer tissues. HIF-1α is positively correlated with BRD4, suggesting that BRD4 is involved in the regulation of autophagy by hypoxic microenvironment in breast cancer. High expression of HIF-1α, BRD4 and autophagy may play an important role in the development of breast cancer.
