Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;42(9):2206-2211
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of"Five-Tiger Points"Acupuncture combined with Shaking-Traction-Thrusting Manipulation in treating acute ankle sprain. Methods A total of 142 patients diagnosed with acute ankle sprain at Guizhou Aerospace Hospital between January 2022 and March 2024 were enrolled. The patients were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, with 71 cases in each group. The control group received RICE(Rest,Ice,Compression,Elevation)protocol plus Shaking-Traction-Thrusting Manipulation every 2 days for 8 sessions. The observation group received additional daily"Five-Tiger Points"Acupuncture for 3 consecutive days. After two weeks, clinical efficacy was assessed by comparing visual analogue scale(VAS)pain scores,Kofoed ankle function scores, swelling degree, and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores between groups.Results(1)After treatment, both groups of patients showed significant improvements in pain VAS scores, ankle swelling severity, and TCM syndrome scores(P<0.05).The observation group demonstrated significantly superior improvements compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).(2)After treatment, both groups of patients showed significant improvements in Kofoed scores(P<0.05).The observation group demonstrated significantly superior improvements compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).(3)The overall efficacy rate was 90.14%(64/71)in the observation group and 69.01%(49/71)in the control group. The observation group demonstrated superior efficacy compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion Combining"Five-Tiger Points"Acupuncture with Shaking-Traction-Thrusting Manipulation significantly alleviates pain, reduces swelling, and enhances ankle function in acute ankle sprain patients, demonstrating superior clinical efficacy.

Sine oculis homeobox 1 (Six1) is an important factor for embryonic development and carcinoma malignancy. However, the localization of Six1 varies due to protein size and cell types in different organs. In this study, we focus on the expression and localization of Six1 in male reproductive organ via bioinformatics analysis and immunofluorescent detection. The potential interacted proteins with Six1 were also predicted by protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and Enrichr analysis. Bioinformatic data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Genotype-Tissue Expression project databases showed that SIX1 was highly expressed in normal human testis, but low expressed in the testicular germ cell tumor sample. Human Protein Atlas examination verified that SIX1 level was higher in normal than that in cancer samples. The sub-localization of SIX1 in different reproductive tissues varies but specifically in the cytoplasm and membrane in testicular cells. In mouse cells, single cell RNA-sequencing data analysis indicated that Six1 expression level was higher in mouse spermatogonial stem cells (mSSCs) and differentiating spermatogonial than in other somatic cells.Immunofluorescence staining showed the cytoplasmic localization of Six1 in mouse testis and mSSCs. Further PPIs and Enrichr examination showed the potential interaction of Six1 with bone morphogenetic protein 4 (Bmp4) and catenin Beta-1 (CtnnB1) and stem cell signal pathways. Cytoplasmic localization of Six1 in male testis and mSSCs was probably associated with stem cell related proteins Bmp4 and CtnnB1 for stem cell development.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT)in the screening of coronary artery lesions in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods MSCT and coronary angiography(CAG)were performed in 136 elderly patients(68 patients with diabetes and 68 patients without diabetes). The number of diseased coronary segments and the plaque type (noncalcified, mixed and calcified)for each patient were determined. The characteristics of coronary lesions were compared between patients with and without diabetes. The sensitivity and specificity of MSCT were evaluated. Results More noncalcified and calcified plaques and few ermixed plaques were observed in patients with diabetes, compared with patients without diabetes(noncalcified plagues:10 cases or 14.7% vs.4 cases or 5.9%;calcified plagues:47 cases or 69.1% vs.39 cases or 57.4%)(P< 0.05).In addition, diabetic patients showed a significantly higher frequency of multivessel disease(P<0.05).Furthermore,MSCT was able to clearly show stenosis and plaque type in the trunk and branches of the coronary artery, with a sensitivity of 91.0%,a specificity of 95.0%,a positive predictive value of 93% and a negative predictive value of 96.0%.Conclusions Diabetes is associated with a higher risk of coronary artery disease.MSCT can effectively detect the characteristics of coronary artery disease in diabetic patients and is an effective, noninvasive, and safe screening method.

Objective To explore and compare the therapeutic effects of Fufangkushen injection and Aidi injection on improving quality of life for patients with advanced lung cancer. Methods 60 patients in late stage of lung cancer with pathological diagnosis were split into two groups randomly. 30 patients in Kushen group received Fufangkushen injection plus base therapy, 30 patients in Aidi group received Aidi injection plus base therapy. The data was analyzed on term of tumour size, clinical symptoms,Karnofsky score, cancer marker CA125,CEA,before and after treatment in two groups. The therapeutic effects were evaluated after two circles of treatment. Results Compared the short term therapeutic effect, Kushen group had the stability rate for 83.3 %(25/30),and 80.0 %(24/30) for Aidi group. There was no significant difference.(P>0.05).Compare the clinical therapeutic effect,Kushen group had the improving rate for 83.3 %(25/30),and 80.0 %(24/30) for Aidi group. There was no significant difference(P>0.05).Compare the Karnofsky score, two groups had equal increasing stability rate (P>0.05). Compare decreasing ratio of CEA and CA125 after treatment in two groups, there was no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion Fufangkushen injection and Aidi injection both have acceptable therapeutic effects in the treatment of patients with later stage lung cancer. The result is equal. As well as they have some other characters themselves to improve lung cancer related symptoms. Fufangkushen injection is better to improve symptoms of heat toxin, and Aidi injection is better to improve symtoms of deficiency Qi. For Fufangkushen injection, it can also adjust disorder of liver function and relieve pain.

AIM: To study the development laws between isokinetic muscle strength and age increase via test flexion and extension muscle of knee joints in 216 ordinary juvenile boys aged from 9 to 20. METHODS: Kinitech isokinetic strength test was used to study the flexion and extension muscle of both sides’ knee joints at the speed of 60 (?)/s. RESULTS: The peak torque of muscles increased with the increasing ages, especially in extension muscles, which is bigger than flexion muscles (P 0.05). The ratio of flexion and extension muscles (F/E) decreased with age increasing, which a larger fluctuation during aged 9-13, especially obvious had decreased in 13-20 ages. CONCLUSION: The muscle strength and power all increases with the increasing ages, while the F/E value decrease in 9-20 boys, which demonstrates the flexion and extension muscle developed out of balance.
