Chinese Journal of School Health 2026;47(1):27-31
Objective:
To investigate the factors influencing the co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia, so as to provide a data foundation and theoretical basis for developing targeted intervention measures.
Methods:
In September and October 2024, a stratified cluster random sampling method was employed to select 139 102 students from 539 schools across 12 leagues/cities and 103 banners/counties in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Participants who were diagnosed with allergic rhinitis by a doctor at least once within one year and had a body mass index ≥ 28 kg/m 2 were considered to have comorbid conditions.
Results:
The coprevalence rate of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia was 6.4% (8 931 cases). Lasso-Logistic regression revealed that nonboarding status, higher maternal education, consuming high protein foods ≥1 time daily, occasionally or never eating breakfast, engaging in moderate to vigorous physical activity for ≥60 minutes on fewer than half of holidays, and having been exposed to second hand smoke in person within the past seven days were associated with higher odds ratios for co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity( OR = 1.23 , 1.22-1.63, 1.20, 1.19, 1.38, 1.35); being female, higher grade level, residence in flag/county/district areas, non only child status, never having consumed a full glass of alcohol, non hypertensive status, and households without pets were associated with lower co-prevalence risks ( OR =0.65, 0.67-0.77, 0.81, 0.87, 0.73, 0.41, 0.68) (all P <0.05). The ROC curve indicated an area under the curve of 0.64 for the predictive model, demonstrating satisfactory discriminatory ability. The calibration curve showed consistency between predicted and actual occurrence probabilities.
Conclusions
The co-prevalence of allergic rhinitis and obesity among primary and secondary school students in Inner Mongolia is closely associated with demographic characteristics, dietary behaviours, and lifestyle habits. Future prevention and control strategies should prioritize these factors to implement targeted interventions.

Laboratory Animal and Comparative Medicine 2026;46(1):94-106
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and mortality worldwide. Research into its mechanisms and the development of therapeutic strategies heavily rely on animal models that accurately replicate the pathological features of human disease. An ideal animal model for stroke should not only reproduce the neurological deficits and pathological changes observed in clinical patients but also demonstrate good reproducibility and translational value. This review focuses on the preparation and evaluation methods of ischemic stroke animal models. Firstly, it elaborates on the selection criteria, advantages, and disadvantages of experimental animals, including rodents (rats, mice) and non-rodents (non-human primates, miniature pigs, rabbits, zebrafish). Secondly, it provides a detailed overview of the modeling principles, key procedures, and application scopes for ischemic stroke models and hemorrhagic stroke models. Furthermore, the review summarizes advances in the applications of emerging technologies—including gene editing [e.g., clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) gene editing], multimodal imaging (e.g., two-photon microscopy, photoacoustic imaging), artificial intelligence, optogenetics, 3D bioprinting, organoid models, and multi-omics–in model optimization, precise assessment, and mechanistic investigation. Finally, based on a systematic analysis of relevant domestic and international literature from 2019 to 2024, this review discusses model selection strategies based on research objectives, a multidimensional evaluation system encompassing behavioral, imaging, and molecular pathological assessments, and envisions future directions involving technological integration to achieve model precision and individualization. This article aims to provide a comprehensive methodological reference to help researchers select appropriate animal models of stroke according to specific scientific questions.

Objective To explore the impact of irregular shape of head CT hematomas on postoperative re-bleeding and prognosis of patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH)who undergo craniotomy for hematoma evacuation. Methods We retrospectively enrolled consecutive patients with ICH who underwent craniotomy for hematoma evacuation in the Department of Neurosurgery of the Second People's Hospital of Guiyang Affiliated to Guizhou Medical University from January 2019 to June 2024.Baseline and clinical data were collected form the patients, including age, gender, smoking history, drinking history, hypertension, diabetes, history of anticoagulant use, admission systolic and diastolic blood pressure, admission National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)score,Glasgow coma scale(GCS)score, time from onset to the first head CT,neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR).Admission head CT scans were used to assess hematoma shape(regular or irregular),hematoma location(basal ganglia, lobar, multifocal),hematoma volume, perihematomal edema volume, the presence of midline shift, and intraventricular extension.Volume of the hematoma was assessed 2 days after surgery.Postoperative re-bleeding is defined as an increase in the volume of the hematoma by 12.5 ml compared to the previous postoperative CT scan within 2 weeks after surgery,or the reappearance of high-density areas in the focal area of the head CT scan during follow-up after complete hematoma clearance.Conduct patients follow-ups via telephone at 6 months postoperatively to assess their modified Rankin scale(mRS)scores. The sliding dichotomy method was applied to define prognosis based on the patients' baseline characteristics and disease severity. The prognostic score was calculated using formula:10 × admission GCS score-age-0.64 × admission hematoma volume.A prognostic score>27.672 was considered potentially favorable, while a score ≤ 27.672 was considered potentially unfavorable. For patients with a potentially favorable prognosis,an mRS score of 0-2 was defined as a good outcome, and a score of 3-6 as a poor outcome. For those with a potentially unfavorable prognosis,an mRS score of 0-3 was defined as a good outcome, and a score of 4-6 as a poor outcome. In the comparison of baseline and clinical data between patients with regular and irregular hematoma shapes, factors with P<0.05 were included in propensity score matching(PSM)to adjust for confounding variables.A 1∶1 matching was performed using the nearest neighbor method with a caliper value set to 0.25.Variables with statistically significant differences between groups after PSM matching were included in the multivariate Logistic regression analysis to identify influencing factors for postoperative re-bleeding and poor prognosis in ICH patients undergoing craniotomy hematoma evacuation. The predictive value of irregular hematoma shape for postoperative rebleeding and poor prognosis in ICH patients was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis.Results(1)A total of 440 ICH patients were enrolled, including 342 males and 98 females, aged from 20 to 84 years with a mean age of(56±12)years.Statistically significant differences were observed in baseline and clinical data between patients with regular and irregular hematoma shapes before PSM,including age, admission GCS score,NIHSS score,NLR,proportion of patients with hematoma rupture into ventricles, preoperative hematoma volume, proportion of patients with midline shift, preoperative volume of hematoma surrounding edema, proportion of patients with hematoma located in multiple sites, and postoperative 2-day hematoma volume(all P<0.05).After propensity score matching of these factors,298 ICH patients were included in the statistical analysis, comprising 228 males and 70 females, with an age range of 20 to 84 years and a mean age of(57±12)years.Following PSM,no statistically significant differences were observed in the baseline and clinical characteristics between patients with irregular and regular hematoma shapes(all P>0.05).(2)After propensity score matching,28 patients experienced postoperative re-bleeding while 270 did not.Significant differences were observed between the two groups in the following factors:proportion of patients with a history of anticoagulant use, admission PLR,NLR,irregular hematoma shape, and hematoma volume at 2 days after operation(all P<0.05).No statistically significant differences were found in the remaining baseline and clinical characteristics(all P>0.05).Using postoperative re-bleeding as the dependent variable and incorporating factors with P<0.05 from the univariate analysis as independent variables, multivariate Logistic regression analysis identified irregular hematoma shape(OR,2.821,95%CI 1.142-6.968,P=0.025)and larger hematoma volume at 2 days post-operation(OR,1.062,95%CI 1.026-1.099,P<0.01)as independent risk factors for re-bleeding following intracranial hematoma evacuation in ICH patients.ROC curve analysis demonstrated that irregular hematoma shape predicted postoperative re-bleeding with an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.62,showing a sensitivity of 71.4%and a specificity of 52.2%.(3)After propensity score matching,174 patients had poor prognosis while 124 had good prognosis.Significant intergroup differences were observed in age, admission GCS score,NIHSS score, irregular hematoma shape, proportion of patients with hematomas located in the basal ganglia and cerebral lobes, and hematoma volume at 2 days post-operation(all P<0.05).No statistically significant differences were found in the remaining baseline and clinical characteristics(all P>0.05).Using poor prognosis as the dependent variable and incorporating factors with P<0.05 from univariate analysis as independent variables, multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that advanced age(OR,1.039,95%CI 1.015-1.064,P=0.002),high admission NIHSS score(OR,1.068,95%CI 1.025-1.113,P=0.002),irregular hematoma shape(OR,2.675,95%CI 1.582-4.524,P<0.01),and larger hematoma volume at 2 days post-operation(OR,1.033,95%CI 1.002-1.064,P=0.038)were independent risk factors for poor prognosis.Conversely, lobar hematoma location(OR,0.192,95%CI 0.073-0.504,P<0.01)was identified as a protective factor.ROC curve analysis showed that irregular hematoma shape predicted poor prognosis after intracranial hematoma evacuation with an AUC of 0.61,demonstrating a sensitivity of 59.2%and specificity of 62.9%.Conclusion Irregular hematoma shape on head CT is an independent risk factor for both postoperative re-bleeding and poor prognosis in ICH patients undergoing craniotomy for hematoma evacuation.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of autophagy induced by House dust mites(HDM)on airway epithelial tight junction through β-catenin-Snail signaling pathway. Methods Human bronchial epithelial cells(16HBE)were stimulated with HDM at different time points(0,3,6,12,24,48 h)and different concen-trations(0,40,100,200 μg/mL)to screen the appropriate stimulation concentration and stimulation time.16HBE cells were treated with oxidative stress inhibitor N-acetylcysteine(NAC),autophagy inhibitor 3-methylad-enine(3-MA),HDM,and their combinations.Cells were transfected with mCherry-EGFP-LC3B,Beclin-1-siRNA,and ATG14-siRNA lentivirus and then stimulated with NAC and HDM.Immunofluorescence was used to detect the expression levels of autophagy-related protein LC3B,tight junction-related proteins Occludin, and ZO-1 in airway epithelial cells. The level of reactive oxygen species(ROS)was detected by using DCFH-DA in each group. The protein expression levels of Occludin,ZO-1,LC3B,Beclin-1,ATG5,ATG14,P62,Snail,β-catenin and p-β-catenin were detected by Western blot method. Results Immunofluorescence results showed that compared with the control group,200 μg/mL HDM stimulation induced cellular autophagy, increased the expression level of LC3B protein, and promoted the level of ROS,all with statistical significances(all P<0.05).Compared with the HDM group, the HDM+3-MA,HDM+ATG14-si,and HDM+Beclin-1-si groupsall showed significantincreases in the expression levels of tight junction-related proteins Occludin and ZO-1(P<0.05).The HDM+NAC group demonstrated significant decreases both in the level of ROS andin the expression level of LC3B protein.Western blot results revealed that compared with HDM,3-MA and autophagy protein low-expression beads(Beclin-1-si,ATG14-si)attenuated HDM-induced cellular autophagy(P<0.05),inhibited HDM-induced upregulation of Snail and p-β-catenin expression, and improved HDM-induced decreases in Occludin and ZO-1(P<0.05).Moreover,compared with the HDM group, the NAC+HDM group exhibited significant decreases both in the conversion of LC3BⅠ to LC3BⅡ(P<0.001)in the protein levels of Snail,p-β-catenin,Beclin-1 and ATG14(P<0.01),but significant increases in the protein levels of Occludin and ZO-1(P<0.05).Conclusion HDM affects the tight connections between airway epithelial cells by inducing autophagy, which may be attributed to the β-catenin-Snail signaling pathway.

Objective To investigate the effects of time in range(TIR)and microRNA-2245P(miR-2245P)interac-tions on the susceptibility and severity of diabetic retinopathy(DR)in the target range of glucose. Methods A prospec-tive study was conducted on 259 patients with DR(DR group)and 259 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM group)admitted to the Ophthalmology Department of Yantai Yeda Hospital from April 2022 to June 2024.TIR and miR-2245P were compared between the two groups, and the multivariate Logistic analysis was used to identify the factors associated with DR susceptibility. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to evaluate the predictive value of TIR,miR-2245 P,and their combination for DR.The interaction coefficient γ was used to analyze the effect of the interaction between TIR and miR-2245P on DR susceptibility. The Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation of TIR and miR-2245P with DR staging. Results The TIR and miR-2245P levels in the DR group were lower than those in the T2DM group(both P<0.05).The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that Logit(P)=0.083-0.470 × TIR-0.584 × miR-2245P,high levels of TIR and miR-2245P were independent protective factors of DR susceptibility(all P<0.05).The areas under the ROC curve(AUC)of TIR,miR-2245P,and their combination for predicting DR were 0.76,0.79,and 0.91,respectively.The AUC of TIR combined with miR-2245P was greater than that of TIR and miR-2245P(both P<0.05).The interaction analysis showed that the OR values of DR caused by low levels of TIR and miR-2245P alone were 2.05 and 1.92,respectively.The OR value of the interaction between TIR and miR-2245P was 10.69,greater than the prod-uct of OR values of TIR and miR-2245P alone. It indicates that the effect of the interaction of TIR and miR-2245P on suscep-tibility to DR is a super-multiplication model. The interaction coefficient was γ=3.31>1,indicating a positive relationship of the interaction between the two factors with DR susceptibility. The Spearman correlation analysis showed that TIR and miR-2245P were negatively correlated with DR staging(both P<0.001).Conclusion Both TIR and miR-2245P are asso-ciated with DR and its severity, and they have interactive effects on DR susceptibility.Combined detection can improve the predictive value of DR.This study provides a new idea and target for the prevention and treatment of DR.

Objective In this study, exogenous hormones combined with variable temperature stratification were used to relieve seed dormannia of Coptis chinensis and promote seed germination, and the effects of gibberellin on the physiological, biochemical and embryonic morphological changes of C.chinensis seeds during post-mature germination were further evaluated. Methods Using orthogonal test, different exogenous hormones(GA3,6-BA,NAA,ABA)and different temperature changing stratification(20℃/4℃)were set up,and the germination index(germination rate and split rate)of C.chinensis seeds were statistically compared. The activity of antioxidant enzymes(peroxidase POD,catalase CAT),the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)and endogenous hormones(GA,IAA,ABA)during the germination of C.chinensis seeds under optimal treatment were measured. The microscopic structure of the seeds was observed by paraffin embedding section. Results The results of range analysis showed that the best budding method was:100 mg·L-1 of gibberellin for 12 h,20℃for 60 day,4℃for 10 day.Physiological and biochemical index analysis showed that 100 mg·L-1 exogenous gibberellin treatment promoted the endogenous GA content to reach the peak in advance, maintained the POD and CAT contents at a higher level, and maintained the malondialdehyde(MDA)content at a lower level. The transformation from torpedo embryo to cotyledonous embryo was observed by electron microscope during postmature germination. Conclusion Exogenous gibberellin combined with variable temperature stratification treatment could significantly accelerate seed germination of C.chinensis, mainly by promoting seed embryo morphological development, affecting the contents of GA,POD and CAT,and rapidly relieving seed dormancy to promote seed germination.Compared with natural conditions, the germination period could be shortened by about six months.
