The 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium (ASCO-GI) was held from January 23 to 25, 2025. Several significant studies on the treatment of esophageal and gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) cancer were presented at the symposium, highlighting notable advances, particularly in the perioperative and advanced settings. Immunotherapy has demonstrated significant promise in the neoadjuvant treatment of esophageal cancer, showing potential to become a standard treatment. Furthermore, the long-term survival benefits of combining immunotherapy with chemotherapy for advanced GEJ cancer were further validated. This article summarizes and interprets the researches presented at the symposium concerning perioperative and advanced treatments for esophageal and GEJ cancers.

The 2025 European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) convened in Paris, France, centering on the optimization and innovation of immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Key topics at the congress included the application strategies for perioperative immunotherapy, breakthroughs in combination therapy models for advanced NSCLC, and the emerging roles of biomarkers in predicting diverse treatment outcomes. This paper integrates data from several key pivotal studies to systematically analyze the clinical value of neoadjuvant therapy within the perioperative setting, the potential of targeted combination regimens, and the challenges of managing drug resistance, thus offering new directions for clinical practice.

OBJECTIVE To explore the distribution and drug resistance trends of the main pathogens causing blood-stream infections(BSI)in neonatal intensive care unit(NICU)of Henan Province from 2014 to 2023 so as to pro-vide bases for prevention and control of hospital-associated infections in the neonates and reasonable use of antibi-otics in the whole province.METHODS The data regarding to the pathogens causing BSI in the NICU neonates and drug resistance were retrospectively collected from Jan.2014 to Dec.2023,and the statistical analysis was per-formed by SPSS 26.0 and WHONET 5.6 software.RESULTS Totally 27,984 strains of pathogens were collected from 2014 to 2023,13,547(48.41％)of which were gram-negative bacteria,and 14,437(51.59％)were gram-pos-itive bacteria.Klebsiella pneumoniae(4221 strains,15.08％),Escherichia coli(3735 strains,13.35％),Acine-tobacter baumannii(1288 strains,4.60％),Enterobacter cloacae(847 strains,3.12％)and Pseudomonas aerugi-nosa(655 strain,2.34％)were the major species of gram-negative bacteria;Staphylococcus aureus(4545 strains,16.24％),Staphylococcus epidermidis(3306 strains,11.81％),Staphylococcus haemolyticus(2048 strains,7.32％),Staphylococcus hominis(1085 strains,3.88％)and Enterococcus faecalis(946 strains,3.38％)were the predominant species of gram-positive bacteria.The drug resistant analysis indicated that the drug resistance rate of the K.pneumoniae strains to imipenem showed an upward trend during the past six years,peaking at 44.23％,and it began to decline in 2021;though the drug resistance rate of the E.coli strains to imipenem showed some fluctuations,it gener-ally presented a downward trend,peaking at 7.00％.The drug resistance rates of the K.pneumoniae strains to the third generation of cephalosporins and carbapenems were higher than those of the E.coli,and there was significant differ-ence in the antimicrobial prevalence trend between the two species of Enterobacter during the ten years(P＜0.05).CONCLUSIONS K.pneumoniae and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus are dominant among the pathogens causing BSI in the ICU neonates of the whole province,and the isolation rates of drug-resistant strains are high.It is grossly necessary for the reasonable clinical use of antibiotics to carry out the bacterial drug resistance surveillance.

Objective To investigate the differences of cerebral vascular morphology and serum indexes between patients with vascular cognitive impairment no dementia(VCIND)and cognitively normal cerebral vascular disease.Methods A total of 100 VCIND patients hospitalized in Quzhou Hospital of Zhejiang Medical and Health Group from June 2023 to September 2024 were included in experimental group,and 100 cognitively normal patients with cerebral vascular disease hospitalized during the same period were included in control group.Cerebral artery extension and dilation,cerebrovascular stenosis,collateral circulation establishment,inflammatory factors and lipid metabolism indexes were compared between two groups by means of cerebrovascular angiography and serum examination.The relationship between the severity of cognitive impairment and the vascular lesion of different responsibility was also explored.Results The rate of cerebral artery extension and dilation,rate of vascular stenosis in experimental group were higher than those in control group,and the rate of collateral circulation establishment was lower than that in control group(P＜0.05).The levels of interleukin-6,interleukin-1 β,tumor necrosis factor-α,total cholesterol,low density lipoprotein,apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein(a)in experimental group were significantly higher than those in control group,level of high density lipoprotein was lower than that in control group(P＜0.05).In experimental group,there were 20 cases of anterior cerebral artery vascular disease,22 cases of middle cerebral artery vascular disease,26 cases of posterior cerebral artery vascular disease,32 cases of vertebrobasilar artery vascular disease.There were no significant differences in the scores of mini-mental state examination,Montreal cognitive assessment and Hachinski ischemic scale among patients with different responsible vascular diseases(P＞0.05).Conclusion Patients with cerebral artery extension and dilation,cerebral artery stenosis,no establishment of collateral circulation,inflammatory response and abnormal lipid metabolism were high-risk groups for VCIND.Such patients need early cognitive intervention to prevent VCIND occurrence.

Postpartum lumbopelvic pain(PLPP)occurs in women during the period from pregnancy to the puerperium.Its root cause lies in the deficiency of qi and blood,and the key pathogenesis is the imbalance of qi and blood,leading to meridian blockage.When treating PLPP clinically,it is essential to focus on its pathogenesis and address both the root and the symptoms.Acupuncture points from the spleen meridian,stomach meridian,kidney meridian,conception vessel,and governor vessel are selected to tonify qi,nourish blood,replenish the kidneys,and fill essence to treat the root.Acupuncture points from the liver meridian,heart meridian,and bladder meridian are chosen to regulate qi,activate blood,calm the mind,and dispel cold and dampness to alleviate the symptoms.Ultimately,this approach aims to achieve a state of harmonious qi and blood and smooth meridians,providing a clinical acupuncture strategy for the treatment of PLPP.

The statement"Blood is the material carrier of spirit and qi"indicates that the generation of blood relies on the coordinated governance of spirit and qi,while simultaneously serving as their material foundation.Based on the physiological connection among"blood-spirit-qi",this article explores the pathogenesis of premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)accompanied by anxiety and depression.It proposes that essence and blood deficiency,premature exhaustion of Tian Gui(reproductive essence),and failure of blood to nourish the spirit form a pathological chain:"blood deficiency-spirit disturbance-POI with anxiety and depression".Blood stasis obstructing the uterine chamber,disorder of the chong and ren meridians,and failure of blood to carry the spirit give rise to the transformation:"blood stasis-spirit depression-POI with anxiety and depression".Liver qi stagnation and disruption of qi and blood further exacerbate the imbalance between blood and spirit,aggravating the disease progression.Based on this pathological analysis,the general treatment principle of"regulating blood,harmonizing spirit,and rectifying qi"is established.For patients with blood deficiency syndrome,treatment should focus on tonifying essence and blood,replenishing reproductive essence,and nourishing the spirit,selecting Guanyuan(CV4),Zusanli(ST36),and Sanyinjiao(SP6)as main acupoints.For patients with blood stasis syndrome,treatment should aim to regulate the chong and ren meridians,promote blood circulation,and calm the spirit,selecting Qichong(ST30),Zhongji(CV3),and Xuehai(SP10)as main acupoints.Simultaneously,the method of regulating the liver should be applied throughout the entire treatment process to soothe the liver,regulate qi,relieve depression,and calm the spirit,selecting Baihui(GV20),Taichong(LR3),and Ganshu(BL18)as main acupoints.Appropriate acupuncture techniques and methods should be chosen according to the patient's constitution and condition,providing new therapeutic ideas and approaches for clinical practice.

The 2024 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Annual Meeting, two of the most prestigious events in oncology, have concluded sequentially. As the most authoritative annual gatherings in lung cancer and the entire oncology field, the WCLC and ESMO conferences brought together top oncology experts and scientists from around the world to share, discuss, and publish the latest cutting-edge advancements in oncology. In both conferences, lung cancer immunotherapy remained a hot topic of considerable interest. This article aims to summarize and discuss the important research progress on perioperative immunotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer reported at the two conferences.

The paper introduces Professor XU Yunxiang's experience in treatment of tic disorder with Xu's manual flying needling therapy by both hands. This therapy is characterized by the integration of yinyang regulation and the painless technique of manual flying needling. It is especially applicable to pediatric encephalopathy. Professor XU Yunxiang believes that tic disorder is related to the liver hyperactivity and spleen weakness, and the imbalance in the sea of marrow in pathogenesis. The treatment should focus on inhibiting the wood, supporting the earth, eliminating the wind and regulating the mind. The acupoints are specially selected on the head and from the back-shu points, the front-mu points and the affected meridians. The needling technique is featured by "flying for calming down the mind, manipulating with both hands simultaneously, combining the back-shu points and the front-mu points, inducing the sensation transmission, obtaining the reinforcing and reducing with both hands and removing the needles for tranquilizing the mind". This therapy is aimed at regulating the mind, qi and body movement. It increases the efficiency of acupuncture, reduces needling pain, strengthens needling sensation and improves children's compliance.
