Objective To observe the correlation between cortical thickness and pathological deposition of β-amyloid(Aβ)in patients with Alzheimer disease(AD)induced mild cognitive impairment(MCI)or dementia. Methods Totally 22 AD patients were prospectively enrolled and divided into dementia group(n=12)and MCI group(n=10)based on the degree of cognitive impairment, while 17 healthy individuals without cognitive impairment were recruited as control group.MR examination and 18F-florbutaben(18F-FBB)PET imaging were performed, the cortical thickness and Aβ deposition value(Centiloid[CL]value)were calculated and compared among 3 groups and between each 2 groups, then the correlation between the above two indexes was analyzed. Results The cortical thickness in dementia group,MCI group and control group was(2.18±0.14),(2.35±0.08)and(2.36±0.09)mm,respectively,with significant difference among 3 groups(P<0.05).The cortical thickness in dementia group was significantly thinner than that in MCI group and control group(both P<0.05).CL value in dementia group,MCI group and control group was 77.97(63.07,95.55),65.51(54.54,90.50)and-1.17(-9.66,4.88),respectively,with significant difference among 3 groups(P<0.05).CL value in dementia group and MCI group were significantly higher than in control group(both P<0.05).The cortical thickness was moderately negatively correlated with CL value in MCI group(r=-0.580,P=0.048)but not in the other 2 groups(both P>0.05).Conclusion The cortical thickness was moderately negatively correlated with abnormal deposition of Aβ in patients with AD induced MCI,but was not during dementia.

Objective:To understand the burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its risk factors in Fujian Province during 1990-2019.Methods:Based on the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019, the incidence rate, mortality rate and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of CKD in Fujian from 1990 to 2019 were calculated. An age-period-cohort model was used to estimate the effects of age, period, and cohort on age-standardized incidence rate (ASIR), age-standardized mortality rate (ASMR), and age-standardized DALY rate (ASDR) of CKD. Comparative risk assessment theory was used to calculate the potential attributable DALYs due to risk factors. Results:In 2019, the ASIR of CKD in Fujian exceeded the national average. The ASIR of CKD showed an increasing trend from 1990 to 2019, but the ASMR and ASDR of CKD exhibited decreasing trends during the same period. In 2019, the ASIR of CKD was higher in women than in men, while the ASMR and ASDR were higher in men than in women. Age-period-cohort analysis indicated that ASIR, ASMR, and ASDR of CKD increased with age. The period effect for ASIR decreased first before increase, while the period effect for ASMR and ASDR displayed fluctuating trends. The cohort effect showed an upward trajectory for ASIR, but a stable status before downward trajectories for ASMR and ASDR. Compared with 1990, except the increase in the ASDR of CKD attributed to high BMI and high temperatures, the ASDR of CKD attributed to other risk factors all showed decreases in 2019. However, the ASDR attributed to high sodium intake remained higher compared with the global average. Conclusion:The burden of CKD remains heavy in Fujian, and it is necessary to reduce the attributable risk factors, such as high sodium intake and high BMI, to address this problem.

Objective:
Whether elevation in plasma levels of amyloid and tau protein biomarkers are better indicators of cognitive decline than higher baseline levels in patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) remains understudied.
Methods:
We included 67 participants with twice testing for AD-related plasma biomarkers via immunomagnetic reduction (IMR) assays (amyloid beta [Aβ]1-40, Aβ1-42, total tau [t-Tau], phosphorylated tau [p-Tau] 181, and alpha-synuclein [α-Syn]) and the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) over a 1-year interval. We examined the correlation between biomarker levels (baseline vs. longitudinal change) and annual changes in the MMSE scores. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was conducted to compare the biomarkers.
Results:
After adjustment, faster cognitive decline was correlated with lower baseline levels of t-Tau (β=0.332, p=0.030) and p-Tau 181 (β=0.369, p=0.015) and rapid elevation of t-Tau (β=-0.330, p=0.030) and p-Tau 181 levels (β=-0.431, p=0.004). However, the levels (baseline and longitudinal changes) of Aβ1-40, Aβ1-42, and α-Syn were not correlated with cognitive decline. aMCI converters had lower baseline levels of p-Tau 181 (p=0.002) but larger annual changes (p=0.001) than aMCI non-converters. The change in p-Tau 181 levels showed better discriminatory capacity than the change in t-Tau levels in terms of identifying AD conversion in patients with aMCI, with an area under curve of 86.7% versus 72.2%.
Conclusion
We found changes in p-Tau 181 levels may be a suitable biomarker for identifying AD conversion.

Objective To assess the clinical and safety outcomes of endovascular therapy(EVT)administered beyond 24 h after the onset of symptoms in patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS)resulting from middle cerebral artery atherosclerotic occlusion. Methods We enrolled consecutive AIS patients with middle cerebral artery atherosclerotic occlusion who received EVT in our hospital between January 2020 and June 2023 and divided them into two groups based on the time from AIS onset to EVT:EVT≤24 h group and EVT>24 h group. The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores after surgery,90-day functional independence(defined as mRS 0-2),symptomatic ICH(sICH),postoperative acute thrombosis,as well as mortality, were analyzed in the two groups of patients. Results A total of 161 patients were recruited, with 106 cases in the EVT≤24 h group and 55 cases in the EVT>24 h group. The NIHSS scores declined after EVT in both groups(P<0.01).The NIHSS scores after surgery were lower in the EVT≤24 h group(median:4.5 vs.7.0,P<0.05).90-day functional independence(45.3%vs.30.9%,95%CI:0.93-3.68),sICH(5.7%vs.9.1%,95%CI:0.18-2.06),postoperative acute thrombosis(6.6%vs.3.6%,95%CI:0.37-9.34),and mortality(3.8%vs.1.8%,95%CI:0.23-19.42)did not differ significantly between the groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Our findings support EVT feasibility in selected patients with middle cerebral artery atherosclerotic occlusion beyond 24 h.Prospective studies are warranted for confirmation.
