OBJECTIVE:
To explore the clinical application of transurethral steam thermal ablation of the prostate as an ultra-minimally invasive treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
METHODS:
We treated 18 BPH patients by transurethral steam thermal ablation of the prostate in our hospital, and followed them up for 6-12 months after operation. We obtained the IPSS, maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), IIEF-5 scores, Male Sexual Health Questionnaire-Ejaculatory Dysfunction-Short Form (MSHQ-EjD-SF) scores and quality of life (QOL) scores from the patients and compared them before and after surgery.
RESULTS:
Operations were successfully completed in all the cases, with no intraoperative complications, and all the patients were discharged on the second day after surgery. At the 6-month follow-up after surgery, the Qmax increased from (10.08 ± 2.06) ml/s before surgery to (7.51 ± 3.21) ml/s, the IPSS decreased from 23.72 ± 1.87 to 8.06 ± 1.39, and the QOL score decreased from 5.11 ± 0.58 before surgery to 1.28 ± 0.46. The differences in these indicators were statistically significant (P<0.05). And these is no significant difference in the MSHQ-EjD-SF and IIEF-5 score(P>0.05).
CONCLUSION
Transurethral steam thermal ablation of the prostate is a safe, effective and almost non-invasive surgical strategy for the treatment of BPH, with a good prospect of clinical application.

Cemental tear is a rare and indetectable condition unless obvious clinical signs present with the involvement of surrounding periodontal and periapical tissues. Due to its clinical manifestations similar to common dental issues, such as vertical root fracture, primary endodontic diseases, and periodontal diseases, as well as the low awareness of cemental tear for clinicians, misdiagnosis often occurs. The critical principle for cemental tear treatment is to remove torn fragments, and overlooking fragments leads to futile therapy, which could deteriorate the conditions of the affected teeth. Therefore, accurate diagnosis and subsequent appropriate interventions are vital for managing cemental tear. Novel diagnostic tools, including cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), microscopes, and enamel matrix derivatives, have improved early detection and management, enhancing tooth retention. The implementation of standardized diagnostic criteria and treatment protocols, combined with improved clinical awareness among dental professionals, serves to mitigate risks of diagnostic errors and suboptimal therapeutic interventions. This expert consensus reviewed the epidemiology, pathogenesis, potential predisposing factors, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of cemental tear, aiming to provide a clinical guideline and facilitate clinicians to have a better understanding of cemental tear.

Functional dyspepsia (FD), characterized by persistent or recurrent dyspeptic symptoms without identifiable organic, systemic or metabolic causes, is an increasingly recognized global health issue. The objective of this guideline is to equip clinicians and nursing professionals with evidence-based strategies for the management and treatment of adult patients with FD using traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The Guideline Development Group consulted existing TCM consensus documents on FD and convened a panel of 35 clinicians to generate initial clinical queries. To address these queries, a systematic literature search was conducted across PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), VIP Database, China Biology Medicine (SinoMed) Database, Wanfang Database, Traditional Medicine Research Data Expanded (TMRDE), and the Traditional Chinese Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System (TCMLARS). The evidence from the literature was critically appraised using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. The strength of the recommendations was ascertained through a consensus-building process involving TCM and allopathic medicine experts, methodologists, pharmacologists, nursing specialists, and health economists, leveraging their collective expertise and empirical knowledge. The guideline comprises a total of 43 evidence-informed recommendations that span a range of clinical aspects, including the pathogenesis according to TCM, diagnostic approaches, therapeutic interventions, efficacy assessments, and prognostic considerations. Ambient air pollution is increasingly being recognized as a risk factor for heart failure; however, its effects on cardiac biomarkers remain unclear. This scoping review assessed the existing evidence on the association between air pollution and cardiac biomarkers in heart failure, described the key concepts, synthesized data, and identified research gaps. Following the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and CNKI databases were searched for studies on air pollution, heart failure, and biomarkers. A total of 765 records were screened, and 81 full texts were assessed for eligibility, resulting in 15 studies. The results showed that the exposure to particulate matter was associated with elevated N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and troponin levels. Several studies have linked particulate matter exposure to a higher cardiovascular risk and heart failure biomarkers. Inflammatory and oxidative stress markers were consistently elevated across studies, supporting the biological relevance of these associations. However, few studies have focused specifically on populations with heart failure or clinically relevant biomarkers, and the evidence for gaseous pollutants remains inconclusive. These findings highlight the need to integrate environmental risk assessment into heart failure care and inform policy efforts to reduce the pollution-related cardiovascular burden. Further research should address these gaps through improved exposure assessments and the integration of mechanistic evidence.

Chinese Journal of Modern Applied Pharmacy 2024;41(3):354-358
OBJECTIVE
To explore the application of HL60-pNL3.2 reporter gene assay in pyrogen detection of live attenuated varicella vaccine, inactivated influenza vaccine and lyophilized live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine.
METHODS
According to the publication draft named as "in vitro pyrogen test(reporter gene assay)" in Chinese Pharmacopoeia, maximum valid dilution(MVD) of three kinds of vaccines was calculated, and the interference test was conducted to explore whether these vaccines interfere with the pyrogen determination. According to the general rule 9101 from Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2020, the assay in the pyrogen detection of the three vaccines was validated, using the methods to determine the pyrogen content of three vaccines.
RESULTS
The MVD of live attenuated varicella vaccine, inactivated influenza vaccine and lyophilized live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine respectively were 1 000, 200 and 1 000 times. The recovery rates of endotoxin(LPS) in the three kinds of vaccine were between 52.5% and 110.1%. The methodological validation results showed that the method could be used for the determination of pyrogens in three vaccines, and the correlation coefficient(R2) between LPS concentration and its chemical light intensity(RLU value) was > 0.98, the recovery rates were between 76.4% and 192.8% when LPS concentration was between 1 and 250 EU·mL–1. The coefficient of variation of measured results was less than 25% when LPS concentration was more than 5 EU·mL–1. The limit of detection and the limit of quantitation were between 0.05 and 0.13 EU·mL–1. Then, the pyrogen of these vaccines was determined by HL60-pNL3.2 reporter gene assay, and the pyrogen concentration all was less than contaminant limit concentration.
CONCLUSION
HL60-pNL3.2 reporter gene assay has the advantages of no animal, simple and rapid operation, with wide pyrogen spectrum and can quantitative pyrogen, which can be used to detect pyrogen of live attenuated varicella vaccine, inactivated influenza vaccine and lyophilized live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine.

Objective:This study aimed to provide basic data for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric viral myocarditis (VMC) in China through analyzing the epidemic characteristics and disease burden of pediatric inpatients with VMC from 2016 to 2021.Methods:We performed a descriptive statistical analysis to the age, genders, seasons, regions and hospitalization cost and days of pediatric VMC inpatients and the death. All of the information was obtained from 27 Children′s hospitals or Maternal and Child Health hospitals of 23 provinces of China from 2016 to 2021.Results:A total of 7 647 599 cases including 1 646 VMC inpatients were admitted into our study. The annual numbers of hospitalizations were 173, 227, 313, 301, 295 and 337, with the hospitalized constituent ratios being 14.9/100 000, 17.9/100 000, 23.0/100 000, 20.5/100 000, 26.5/100 000 and 26.4/100 000 from 2016 to 2021. In recent 6 years, the proportion of VMC hospitalizations had increased yearly ( P<0.001), and had associated with the onset age ( P<0.001). Aged 12-≤18 years owned the highest hospitalized constituent ratio. The Northeast of China owned the largest number of VMC inpatients, and the East second to it. Among the 1 646 VMC children, there were 68 deaths, with the hospitalized case fatality rate of 4.13%. There were no significant differences between genders, age, seasons, years and fatality rate of VMC inpatients. For the diseases burden, the median of hospitalization days of all VMC inpatients was 10 days (IQR 6, 21), and the median of hospitalization cost was 1 1 842.3 RMB (IQR 6 969.22, 19 714.78). The median of hospitalization days of deceased VMC children was only 1 day (IQR 1, 3), the median cost could be 8 874.03 RMB (IQR 5 277.94, 5 6 151.59). Conclusions:In this study, we found that proportion of hospitalization of VMC children increased year by year, adolescence might be a risk factor of VMC. The fatality of VMC inpatients could be up to 4.13%, and the death led to a huge economic burden of society, family and individuals.
