This study utilized data from the non-communicable diseases (NCDs) Progress Monitor Reports (2015, 2017, 2020, 2022) released by World Health Organization (WHO) to analyze the implementation of NCDs prevention and control policies in China from 2014 to 2021 through descriptive statistical method, aiming to provide evidence for strengthening national NCDs strategies. The analysis focuses on WHO-recommended ‘best buys’ policies for NCDs prevention and control, covering 10 categories (18 interventions): national NCDs targets, mortality data, risk factor surveys, national integrated NCDs policies/strategies/action plans, tobacco demand-reduction measures, harmful use of alcohol reduction measures, unhealthy diet reduction policies, physical activity campaigns, national clinical guidelines for cancer/CVD/diabetes/CRD management, and drug therapy/counselling for cardiovascular diseases. In accordance with the WHO′s NCDs progress monitor scoring methodology, policies are assigned 1.0 point for full implementation, 0.5 points for partial implementation, and 0 points for non-implementation or missing data, with a maximum total score of 18.0 points. The analytical metrics encompass the policy implementation score, implementation rate, and period-on-period implementation growth rate. The results showed that China′s total policy implementation scores for NCDs prevention and control in 2014, 2016, 2019, and 2021 were consistently higher than the global average (8.5, 10.5, 9.5, 9.5 vs 6.7, 8.3, 8.6, 8.6). From 2014 to 2021, the total score increased by 1.0 point, and the implementation rate improved by 8.9%. From 2014 to 2016, China′s total policy implementation score rose from 8.5 to 10.5, primarily driven by improvements in tobacco tax increases and unhealthy diet reduction measures (salt reduction, restrictions on high-fat foods, and regulation of breast-milk substitute sales). However, this progress was partially offset by a decline in scores for physical activity campaigns. From 2016 to 2019, the total score decreased to 9.5, largely due to lower scores in harmful use of alcohol reduction measures (alcohol taxation and advertising bans). From 2019 to 2021, the total score remained stable, with increases in marketing to children restrictions balanced by declines in scores for drug therapy/counselling for cardiovascular diseases. In 2021, China′s total policy implementation score (9.5) exceeded the global average (8.6) but fell below the G20 average (11.2). Significant gaps remained compared to top-performing G20 countries such as Turkey (16.5), particularly in tobacco control and restrictions on harmful alcohol use. In conclusion, from 2014 to 2021, China′s total policy implementation score for NCDs prevention and control consistently exceeded the global average, demonstrating an upward trend, and various NCDs prevention and control policies have been continuously improved.

The molecular action of GTN is not yet fully evaluated. Thus, our research has been intended to assess the chemopreventive and apoptotic activities of diethylnitrosamine (DEN)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in rats. Rats were separated into 4 groups: control, DEN only, DEN + GTN (30 mg/kg bw), and GTN (30 mg/kg bw) alone. We evaluated body weight, liver weight, tumor incidence, hepatic toxic markers, antioxidants, inflammatory cytokines, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, and Western blot studies. DEN lessened body weight, antioxidants, and apoptosis, whereas it elevated tumor incidence, toxic markers, cytokines, and Bcl-2 expression. GTN treatment maintains body weight, liver weight, and antioxidant levels, and it also prevents tumor incidence, oxidative stress, toxic markers, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and histological changes. It triggers apoptosis by constraining Bcl-2 and elevating caspase-3 levels. GTN also attenuated the P13K/ AKT signaling which enhanced apoptosis. These findings revealed that GTN subdues the P13K/AKT pathway and has auspicious chemopreventive and apoptotic actions in DEN-induced HCC. Therefore, GTN would be suggested as a new medicine in natural remedies for liver cancer.

Objective To provide basic data for developing automobile crash safety standards with Chinese human body characteristics,the influence of the muscle active force on the kinematic response of an occupant's head and neck under load impact was investigated.Methods Based on computed tomography(CT)images of the 50th percentile male volunteers with Chinese physical characteristics,a finite element model of the neck containing the cervical vertebrae,muscles,and fat was constructed.The validity of frontal and side impact simulation was verified,and a beam unit was added to the model to simulate the active force of neck muscles.Results The developed neck model consisted of 143 793 units and 165 077 nodes.The simulation experimental data were consistent with the trend of volunteer experimental data,which had a good consistency and verified the effectiveness of the model.A comparison of the simulation results of the activated and passive models showed that the peak motion of the activated model was lower than that of the passive model.Under the side impact,the horizontal displacement of the head of the activated model in the y-direction on the coronal plane did not fully match the experimental channel of the volunteer.Conclusions The muscle active force can maintain the posture and stability of the body.The activation curves,as well as the muscle active force produced by different individuals,vary owing to the different physiological cross-sectional areas of the muscles and other factors.The finite element model of the male neck developed in this study is based on the most recent statistical data of male physiques in China.It has a detailed anatomical structure and high biological fidelity.The model can be used to study the neck injury mechanisms of medium-sized Chinese male physiques.

BackgroundSuicide is one of the serious public health problems worldwide. The relationship between suicide and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio （NLR） may vary in different regions and different age. It is necessary to further investigate the relationship between NLR and suicidal ideation in Chinese children and adolescents with depression. ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between NLR and suicidal ideation in children and adolescents with depression， so as to provide clues for exploring the biomarkers of suicide. MethodsA retrospective analysis of 536 children and adolescents with depression who were hospitalized in the Third People's Hospital of Fuyang from January 2020 to December 2022 and met the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Diseases， tenth edition （ICD-10） was performed. Patients were divided into two groups according to whether they reported suicidal ideation. Demographic data， discharge diagnosis， Hamilton Depression Scale-17 item （HAMD-17） score and hematological test data （neutrophil counts， lymphocyte counts） on the second day were collected from medical records. Receiver operating characteristic （ROC） curve was used to determine the optimal cut-off point of NLR for predicting suicidal ideation in children and adolescents with depression， and binary Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for suicidal ideation. ResultsAmong the 536 patients， 429 cases （80.04%） had no suicidal ideation， and 107 cases （19.96%） had suicidal ideation. Compared with patients without suicidal ideation， the HAMD-17 score ［（25.28±8.86） vs. （21.21±8.46）， F=19.400， P<0.01］， neutrophil level ［（3.85±1.68）×10⁹/L vs. （3.15±1.14）×10⁹/L， Z=4.073， P<0.01］， and NLR level ［（1.96±1.50） vs. （1.52±0.71）， Z=3.532， P<0.01］ in the suicidal ideation patients were significantly higher. The optimal critical NLR value determined by the ROC curve was 1.52 （59.80% sensitivity， 58.50% specificity）， with an area under the curve of 0.610. Logistic regression analysis showed that the risk of suicidal ideation was 1.94 times higher in those with high NLR than in the low NLR after controlling for age， sex， age at onset， duration of illness， and HAMD-17 score （OR=1.940， 95% CI： 1.251~3.009， P=0.003）. ConclusionNLR may be a risk factor and potential biomarker influencing suicidal ideation in the children and adolescents with first-episode depression. ［Funded by Scientific Research Project of Fuyang Municipal Health Commission （number， FY2020xg14）］
