1.Research on the mechanisms of cold exposure in alleviating type 2 diabetes

Cold exposure, such as winter swimming, may offer certain benefits to the body. It induces changes in the hormonal regulation of glucose metabolism. We hypothesize that cold exposure might trigger systemic metabolic responses by affecting blood composition. This paper highlights recent findings published by our team in the International Journal of Nanomedicine: " Cold Exposure Alleviates T2DM Through Plasma-Derived Extracellular Vesicles" [Li FX, Xu F, Li CC, et al. Int J Nanomedicine, 2024, 19: 10077-10095. DOI: 10.2147/IJN.S441847.]. The results show that under cold exposure, plasma-derived extracellular vesicles(CT-EVs) enhance insulin sensitivity and mitigate β-cell damage, which may explain the lower diabetes incidence in colder regions. Thus, CT-EVs play a crucial role in lowering blood glucose levels.
