Objective:To systematically evaluate qualitative research on intimate relationship experiences between dementia patients and their spouses. Methods:Qualitative studies on intimate relationship experiences of individuals with dementia and their spouses were electronically retrieved from the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang Data, VIP, and SinoMed. The search period was from the establishment of the database to June 30, 2025. The literature was evaluated for quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute Quality Assessment Criteria for Qualitative Research. The results were synthesized through the aggregative integration method. Results:A total of 12 studies were included, yielding 46 findings that were categorized into 9 themes and synthesized into 3 integrated outcomes of dysfunction and challenges in intimate relationships, adjustment and coping strategies in intimate relationships, and reshaping and sublimation in intimate relationships. Conclusions:Patients with dementia and their spouses face multiple challenges in their intimate relationships and marital quality. Healthcare providers should focus on the lived experiences and unmet needs of dementia patients and their spouses, offer targeted psychological interventions and support, promote the stable development of intimate relationships, so as to improve their capacity to cope with the disease.

Chronic diseases in the elderly are characterised by high incidence rates and prolonged duration.Regular participation in multi-component exercise programs promotes both the physical and mental health of the elderly with chronic diseases and reduces the risk of morbidity, making it the key to prevent chronic diseases in the elderly. This review introduces the concepts of multi-component exercise, elucidates the mechanism in improvement of physical and cognitive functions and evaluates the applications as well as the advantages and disadvantages in the management of chronic diseases in the elderly. This review intends to provide references for clinicians who undertake management role of the chronic diseases in elderly populations.

Adverse Drug Reactions Journal 2025;27(4):251-253
A 71-year-old female patient underwent laparoscopic right hemicolectomy due to intestinal obstruction caused by malignant colon tumor. The patient had a fever 7 hours after surgery. Because of suspected abdominal infection, intravenous infusion of 2 g mezlocillin was given once every 8 hours on the day of operation. Three days later, the patient was given simnotrelvir (0.75 g)/ritonavir (0.1 g) once every 12 hours because of the positive nucleic acid test of novel coronavirus. Two days later after medication, the patient′s serum creatinine (Scr) increased from 40.2 μmol/L before treatment to 165.1 μmol/L, and the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) decreased from 100.6 ml/(min·1.73 m 2) before treatment to 26.7 ml/(min·1.73 m 2), without significant oliguria. Drug-induced acute kidney failure (AKI) was suspected, and mezlocillin and simnotrelvir/ritonavir were discontinued. After 3 days of drug withdrawal, the patient′s renal function was improved, with Scr 78.1 μmo1/L; after 15 days, the Scr was 49.7 μmo1/L and eGFR was 93.8 ml/(min·1.73 m 2). It was considered that the patient′s AKI was likely to be related to simnotrelvir/ritonavir. However, the possibility of nephrotoxicity enhancement due to the combination of simnotrelvir/ritonavir and mezlocillin could not be excluded.

Objective:To investigate the risk factors associated with one-year mortality following surgery for intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients and develop a survival prediction model. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on clinical data from 532 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures admitted to the People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the People's Hospital of Xinyang between January 2020 and September 2022.Patient demographics, laboratory indicators, and surgical variables were documented. The primary outcome assessed was the one-year mortality rate.Risk factors were identified through univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses, leading to the development of a prognostic model. The model's predictive performance was evaluated using the Concordance Index(C-Index), time-dependent receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve, calibration curve, and decision curve analysis(DCA).Results:Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified several key factors associated with one-year mortality after intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients. These factors included the modified five-item frailty index( OR=1.338, 95% CI: 1.147-1.561, P<0.001), ICU admission( OR=1.694, 95% CI: 1.230-2.333, P=0.001), preoperative hemoglobin levels( OR=1.281, 95% CI: 1.016-1.616, P=0.036), surgical waiting time( OR=1.570, 95% CI: 1.063-2.319, P=0.023), and age( OR=2.196, 95% CI: 1.712-2.816, P<0.001).The prediction model showed good consistency with a C-Index of 0.769(95% CI: 0.723-0.818)in the modeling group and 0.715(95% CI: 0.612-0.750)in the validation group.Time-dependent ROC areas under the curve were 0.802(95% CI: 0.722-0.850)and 0.718(95% CI: 0.640-0.808)for the modeling and validation groups, respectively.Calibration curves for both groups indicated a good model fit, and decision curve analysis demonstrated a positive net benefit, highlighting the clinical applicability of the model. Conclusions:The modified five-item frailty index, ICU admission, preoperative hemoglobin, surgical waiting time, and age independently predict one-year mortality after surgery for intertrochanteric fractures in elderly patients. This prognostic model, utilizing these factors, shows high predictive accuracy, assisting clinicians in quick personalized assessments and setting informed expectations in clinical practice.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2018;34(12):1853-1856
Objective To explore the value of the morphological quantitative indexes and the number of emboli in predicting heart function in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE)based on computer-aided diagnosis (CAD)technique. Methods One-hundred and forty-eight APE patients confirmed by CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA)in our hospital.Total number of emboli (N)and three morphological quantitative indexes, including total volume of emboli (V),total length (L)and total maximum cross-section embolism proportion (P)were obtained by CAD.The maximal short axis and area of left and right ventricular (LVd,RVd,LVS,RVS)were measured by hand on axial image to calculate the ratio of maximal short axis of right and left ventricular (RVd/LVd)and ratio of maximal area of right and left ventricular (RVS/LVS).The correlation of the above indexes was analyzed by the Pearson correlation of SPSS 22.0.Results The ranking of the correlation between CAD indexes and the heart function was in the order of V,L,P and N.The correlation between CAD indexes and the right heart function was greater than that of the left heart. The V had the strongest correlation with RVd (r=0.544,P=0.000),RVS (r=0.515,P=0.000),RVd/LVd (r=0.595,P=0.000)and RVS/LVS (r=0.579,P=0.000),respectively.While other the CAD indexes had lower correlation with the heart function (|r|:0.167-0.476,P<0.05),and there was no correlation between the N and the left heart function. Conclusion In embolic morphology and quantitative indexes, the V is the best quantitative index to reflect the change of right heart function in APE,which can reflect dys-function of right heart and severity of pulmonary embolism dis-ease in the APE embolism patient.
