OBJECTIVES:
To investigate the therapeutic mechanism of Thesium chinense Turcz. (TCT) for antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD).
METHODS:
Network pharmacology, KEGG pathway enrichment analysis and molecular docking were used to identify the shared targets and genes of TCT and AAD, the key signaling pathways and the binding between the active components in TCT and the core protein targets. In a Kunming mouse model of AAD established by intragastric administration of lincomycin hydrochloride, the effects of daily gavage of 1% carboxymethyl cellulose sodium or TCT gel solutions at 1.5 g/kg and 3 g/kg (n=10) on body weight and diarrhea were observed. HE staining, ELISA, 16S rRNA sequencing, and Western blotting were used to examine pathologies, expression levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, changes in gut microbiota, and protein expressions of EGFR, p-EGFR, PI3K, p-PI3K, Akt, and p-Akt in the colon tissues of the mice.
RESULTS:
We identified a total of 66 active components of TCT and 68 core targets including EGFR, STAT3 and PIK3CA. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis suggested that the therapeutic effects of TCT was mediated primarily through the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Molecular docking showed that EGFR had the highest binding affinity with coniferin, and the EGFR-coniferin complex maintained a stable conformation at 10 ns, whose stability was also confirmed by Gibbs free energy analysis. In the mouse models of AAD, treatment with TCT significantly improved colonic tissue morphology, decreased colonic levels of TNF-α and IL-6, increased gut microbiota diversity, and modulated the relative abundances of the key genera including Lactobacillus and Bacteroides. TCT treatment also markedly reduced protein expressions of p-EGFR, p-PI3K and p-Akt in the colon tissues of the mice.
CONCLUSIONS
TCT can alleviate AAD in mice by modulating gut microbiota composition, regulating the EGFR/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, and reducing TNF‑α and IL-6 expressions.

Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of the M receptor antagonist Bencycloquidium bromide nasal spray in treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis with runny nose as the main symptom. Methods:From August 2021 to September 2021, 134 patients with seasonal allergic rhinitis were enrolled in the otolaryngology Outpatient Department of Peking University Third Hospital, First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University and China-Japanese Friendship Hospital of Jilin University, including 71 males and 63 females, with a median age of 38 years. TNSS score and visual analogue scale(VAS) of total nasal symptoms were observed during 2 weeks of treatment with Bencycloquidium bromide nasal spray. Results:TNSS score decreased from (8.89±3.31) on day 0 to (3.71±2.51) on day 14(P<0.001), VAS score of nasal symptoms decreased from (24.86±7.40) on day 0 to (6.84±5.94) on day 14(P<0.001), VAS score of rhinorrhoea decreased from (6.88±2.06) on day 0 to (1.91±1.81) on day 14(P<0.001). Rhinoconjunctivitis quality of life questionnaire(RQLQ) score decreased from (94.63±33.35) on day 0 to (44.95±32.28) on day 14(P<0.001). The incidence of adverse reaction was low and no serious adverse events occurred during the whole experiment. Conclusion:Bencycloquidium bromide nasal spray has significant efficacy and good safety in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis.

Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine 2019;28(2):232-235
Objective To compare.the therapeutic effect of claw-type bone plates and anatomical plates in fixation of traumatic multiple rib fractures. Methods Clinical data of 70 patients with traumatic multiple rib fractures between January 2016 and November 2017 was analyzed retrospectively.Based on the treatnents, patients were assigned to two groups:the claw-type bone plates fixation group (n0=33) and anatomical plates fixation group (n =37).The variables including operation time, intraoperative blooding, postoperative thoracic hemorrhage rate, wound drainage, plate loosening and breakage, postoperative chest pain were compared.Data were analyzed using SPSS17.0 statistical software.Student's t test and rank sum test were used to compare the measurement data, and x2test was used to compare the counting data. Results The operation time after the full exposure of fractures were recorded.Operation time for each fracture [(11.04± 1.81)min vs (12.30±0.47) min],intraoperative bleeding [(120.76±7.19) mL vs (110.00±7.45) mL] and wound drainage [(114.06±7.24) mL vs (107.98±7.23) mL] in the claw-type rib bone plates fixation group were statistically significant different compared with the anatomical plates fixation group (P<0.05).There were lcase of screw abscission in the anatomical plates fixation group (suffering trom osteoporosis) and 2 cases in the claw-type bone plates fixation group (without osteoporosis and other complications). Two cases suffered from chest pain and 2 cases suffered from massive hemorrhage in the chest in the claw-type bone plates fixation group, with secondary operation removing internal fixations. Conclusions The two kinds of internal fixation have their own advantages and disadvantages. The claw-type bone plates fixation is cheaper, easier to shape and has shorter operation time, which is especially suitable for comminuted fracture.Although the anatomical plates fixation is more expensive than claw-type bone plates fixation, the anatomical plates fixation on multiple fractured ribs has less postoperative blood loss, lower postoperative thoracic hemorrhage rate, plate loosening, chest pain, which significantly reduces second operation and possesses a higher clinical application value.

Objective To understand the eco-hydraulics characteristics of Biomphalaria straminea, the intermediate host of Schistosoma mansoni. Methods The drainage method and settlement tube method were applied to measure B. straminea's den-sity and hydrostatic settling velocity respectively. Results The density of B. straminea was 1.04-1.16 g/cm3,and the average value was 1.08 g/cm3. The hydrostatic settling velocity was 2.32-12.92 cm/s. Conclusions The eco-hydraulics characteristics of B. straminea is different from Oncomelania hupensis, and more attention should be paid to the hydraulic measures for the con-trol of B. straminea.

Chinese Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2017;52(11):835-840
Objective:
To evaluate the postoperative clinical effects of balloon sinuplasty on chronic rhinosinusitis.
Methods:
PubMed, OVID, Embase, Cochrane Library, Proquest, Web of Science, Sinomed, Wan Fang and CNKI database (from established time to March of 2017) were searched for trials about the chronic rhinosinusitis treated by balloon sinuplasty. The relavent literatures were screened, and the prospective control studies were chosen. Lund-Mackay and SNOT-20 scores were used as the outcome idicators, and the methodological quality of the literatures were evaluated strictly. The extracted data were analyzed by Revman 5.3 software.
Results:
A total of 7 prospective before-after self-controlled studies were included, and the overall quality of which was relatively high. Meta-analysis showed that the Lund-Mackay scores at 6 months post-operation, the SNOT-20 scores at 6 months and more than 1 year post-operation were significant lower than baseline when balloon sinuplasty used in the surgery; the SNOT-20 scores at more than 1 year post-operation was lower than baseline when a standalone ballon sinuplasty was performed. All the results was statistically significant (
