Neurosyphilis is a group of clinical syndromes caused by treponema pallidum invading the central nervous system and causing varying degrees of damage to the brain parenchyma, brain (spinal) membrane or spinal cord. Cerebral syphilitic gumma is the rarest form of neurosyphilis, and its clinical manifestations lack specificity, which is easily confused with other intracranial space occupying lesions on imaging. In this article, a patient with cognitive dysfunction, intracranial hypertension, and imaging findings similar to multicentric glioma was diagnosed as cerebral syphilitic gumma by serology, cerebrospinal fluid test and brain histopathology. The symptoms basically disappeared after treatment with standard penicillin. This report aims to raise awareness of cerebral syphilitic gumma in order to reduce missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.

BackgroundDepression has become a public health concern that affects the physical and mental health of college students. acute stress response is a risk factor of depression. Exploring the relationship and mechanism between acute stress response and depression is of great significance for preventing and intervening depression in college students. ObjectiveTo examine the relationship between acute stress response and depression among college students， and to analyze the mediating role of rumination and the moderated effect of perceived social support， so as to provide references for the prevention and intervention of depression in college student . MethodsFrom March to April 2020， a cluster sampling method was employed to select 1 355 college students from three universities in Hubei， Jiangxi and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Participants were assessed with Acute Stress Disorder Scale （ASDS）， Ruminative Responses Scale （RRS）， Brief form of Perceived Social Support Questionnaire （F-SozU） and Patients' Health Questionnaire Depression Scale-9 item （PHQ-9）. Pearson correlation analysis was adopted to examine the correlation between the scores of each scale. The mediating role of rumination between acute stress response and depression and the moderated role of perceived social support were examined respectively by using Model 4 and Model 14 in Macro Program Process 3.3. ResultsA total of 1 303 valid questionnaires were collected， yielding a valid response rate of 96.16%. The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that ASDS score was positively correlated with RRS score and PHQ-9 score （r=0.649， 0.528， P<0.01） among college students. The mediation analysis results demonstrated that rumination played a partial mediating role between acute stress response and depression， with the mediating effect value of 0.273 （95% CI：0.222~0.328）， accounting for 68.59% of the total effect. Perceived social support played a moderated role in the latter path of the mediation model （rumination → depression） （β=-0.004， 95% CI： -0.017~-0.004， P<0.01）. ConclusionRumination played a partial mediating role between acute stress response and depression in college students， and perceptive social support played a moderated role between rumination and depression. ［Funded by Scientific Research Fund Project of Education Department of Yunnan Province （number， 2025J0437）］

Objective To explore the relationship between perceived stress and suicidal ideation as well as the mediating effect of resilience and depression.Methods A sample of 875 college students was recruited for the study to complete a set of self-report measures of Chinese Perceived Stress Scale(CPSS),the Resiliency Scale of University Students,Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire,and Beck Depression Inventory(BDI).Results ①College students'perceived stress and depression had significantly positive correlation with their suicidal ideation,while the students'resilience had a significantly negative correlation with their perceived stress and depression.②Perceived stress did not affect suicidal ideation of the college students directly,but indirectly affected their suicidal ideation through three significant mediating pathways:the separate mediating effects of(a)resilience and(b)depression,and the serial mediating effect of(c)resilience and depression.Conclusion Resilience and depression exert a chain mediating effect between perceived stress and suicidal ideation of college students.

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of lumbar spinal stenosis treated with three different surgical modalities.Methods One hundred and forty patients were treated with posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF,n =50),transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF,n =40) or modified method (n =50).The operation time and intraoperative blood loss were compared.The outcones were evaluated with Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) score and visual analogue scale (VAS),and the radiographic findings were also reviewed.Results The operation time was shorter and the intraoperative blood loss was less in modified group than those in other two groups (F =10.02,P ＜0.05).The excellent and good rate was 90％ (45/50) in PLIF group,92％ (37/40) in TLIF group and 90％ (45/50) in modified group.No complication happened in both TLIF group and modified group.Two patients had cerebrospinal fluid leakage in PLIF group.The JOA scores and VAS scores were significantly improved 3 and 6 months after surgery in three groups (F =10.66,9.68,11.03,all P ＜ 0.05).There were no significant differences in JOA scores and VAS scores among three groups before operation (P ＞ 0.05),also in JOA scores after operation among three groups.The VAS scores in TLIF group and modified group 3 and 6 months after operation were significantly lower than those in PLIF group (F =9.46,10.02,all P ＜ 0.05),but there was no significant difference between TLIF group and modified group.Interbody fusion was good in all three groups.Conclusions Three surgical methods have good clinical outcomes for lumbar spinal stenosis.But compared with PLIF and TLIF,the modified method has less blood loss,shorter operation time and less pain after operation.

Objective To observe the inhibitory effect of andrographolide (AD) on the migration and invasion of human cervical cancer cells,and investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the inhibitory effect of AD.Methods Human cervical cancer cell lines HeLa cells were cultured in vitro.After induced by 100 nmol/L of phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate(PMA) for 24 h,different concentration of AD was co-incubated for another 24 h.Cell viability was detected by methyl thiazolyl tetrazoliym (MTT) assay.Chamber invasion assay was used to observe the migration and invasion,respectively.Expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and translocation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) p65 subunit were detected by Western blot.Results The concentration (0 ～ 10 μmol/L) of AD exhibited a non-cytotoxic effect on HeLa cells.10 μmol/L of AD decreased PMA-induced migration by 49％ and invasion by 52％.Western blot showed that AD suppressed PMA-induced MMP-9 protein expression in a dose-dependent manner.Treatment of AD could decrease the translation of p65 in HeLa cells.Conclusions AD inhibits MMP-9 expression mediated by NF-κB,which lead to the suppression of migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells.
