BACKGROUND:
Recently, T-helper 17 (Th17) cells have been proved to play an important role in promoting cervical cancer. But, till now, few study has been carried out to understand the involvement of these cells in efficacy of anti-tumor treatments. This study aimed to investigate the alterations in the percentage of circulating Th17 cells and related cytokines in locally advanced cervical cancer (LACC) patients before and after concurrent chemoradiotherapy (cCRT) and to analyze the correlations between the alterations in Th17 cells and treatment efficacy.
METHODS:
A prospective study with 49 LACC (International federation of gynecology and obstetrics [FIGO] stage IIB-IIIB) patients and 23 controls was conducted. Patients received the same cCRT schedule and were followed up for 3 years. Circulating Th17 cells (CD3+CD8- interleukin [IL]-17+ T cells) and related cytokines IL-17, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), IL-10, IL-23, IL-6, and IL-22 were detected before and after cCRT. Correlations between alterations of circulating Th17 cells and treatment efficacy were analyzed. Kaplan-Meier analysis was used for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS).
RESULTS:
We found that 40 patients finished the entire cCRT schedule and met the endpoint of this study. The percentage of circulating Th17 cells in the LACC patients was higher than that in the controls, and it significantly decreased after cCRT (P < 0.05). After cCRT, patients were divided into two groups based on the average of the Th17 cells declined. The subgroup of patients with a prominent decrease in circulating Th17 cells after cCRT had a higher treatment efficacy and longer PFS and OS times. Compared with the control patients, LACC patients had higher IL-6, IL-10, IL-22, TGF-β levels and a lower IL-23 level (P < 0.05). After cCRT, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, IL-23 level significantly increased and TGF-β level significantly decreased compared with the levels before cCRT (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
Circulating Th17 cells in the LACC patients (FIGO stage IIB-IIIB) were higher than those in the controls, but they generally decreased after cCRT. A more pronounced decrease in circulating Th17 cells after cCRT was correlated with better therapeutic effect and longer PFS and OS times.

Objective:
The relationship between serum uric acid (SUA) levels and glycemic indices, including plasma glucose (FPG), 2-hour postload glucose (2h-PG), and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), remains inconclusive. We aimed to explore the associations between glycemic indices and SUA levels in the general Chinese population.
Methods:
The current study was a cross-sectional analysis using the first follow-up survey data from The China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort Study. A total of 105,922 community-dwelling adults aged ≥ 40 years underwent the oral glucose tolerance test and uric acid assessment. The nonlinear relationships between glycemic indices and SUA levels were explored using generalized additive models.
Results:
A total of 30,941 men and 62,361 women were eligible for the current analysis. Generalized additive models verified the inverted U-shaped association between glycemic indices and SUA levels, but with different inflection points in men and women. The thresholds for FPG, 2h-PG, and HbA1c for men and women were 6.5/8.0 mmol/L, 11.0/14.0 mmol/L, and 6.1/6.5, respectively (SUA levels increased with increasing glycemic indices before the inflection points and then eventually decreased with further increases in the glycemic indices).
Conclusion
An inverted U-shaped association was observed between major glycemic indices and uric acid levels in both sexes, while the inflection points were reached earlier in men than in women.

Objective:To preliminarily establish the multidisciplinary cooperative vaccination management model for pediatric patients with hematological and oncological diseases, and to explore its feasibility. Methods:In this prospective study a total of 150 children with hematological and oncological diseases visited immunization clinic of Shanghai Children′s Medical Center from March 2017 to August 2018 were enrolled in this study. After establishing the multidisciplinary team, designing vaccination plan, staff training, implementation and quality control, a multidisciplinary immunization clinic was set up and the vaccination plan were implemented. The implementation rate of vaccination immunization, the HBsAb level and serum hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) level before and after treatment, the HBsAb level and serum immunoglobulin G antibody (IgG) levels of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) before and 6 months after immunization, the vaccine-related adverse reactions were assessed prospectively. Chi-square test or Fisher exact test was used to compare the differences of antibody level. Results:A total of 124 cases had been vaccinated as planned, with a coverage rate of 82.7%. Among these cases, the difference of HBsAb positive rate before and after treatment was significant (62.9% (78/124) vs.13.7% (17/124), χ2= 63.489, P<0.01). In 64 cases that completed three doses of hepatitis B immunization, there was a significant difference in HBsAb positive rate before and 6 months after immunization (6.3% (4/64) vs. 98.4% (63/64), P<0.01). In 40 cases that completed MMR immunization, the IgG antibody positive rate for measles (22.5% (9/40) vs. 82.5% (33/40), χ2 =31.746, P<0.01), mumps (22.5% (9/40) vs.82.5% (33/40), χ2 =28.872, P<0.01), rubella (25.0% (10/40) vs.62.5% (25/40), χ2 =11.429, P<0.01) before and 6 months after immunization were significantly different. Of the 421 doses of immunization, 25 (5.9%) doses reported controlled systemic or local adverse event. Conclusions:The immunization of pediatric patients with hematological and oncological diseases is of great importance. The newly-developed multidisciplinary cooperation immunization model for Chinese children with hematological and oncological diseases is feasible, and the immunization protocol is safe and has a certain effect.

Objective: To observe the blood perfusion volume variation pattern in the body surface microcirculation at the Yuan-Primary and the Xi-Cleft points during the menstrual cycle in female college students with moderate constitution under normal physiological state of the uterus; to explore the specific laws of the body surface microcirculation at the Yuan-Primary and Xi-Cleft points in response to the uterine qi and blood changes under normal physiological conditions, and to provide the experimental basis for the specificity of acupoints reflecting the uterine function. Methods: Forty-three healthy and moderate constitution female college students with regular menstrual cycles, without dysmenorrhea and not yet giving birth were recruited. Bilateral Yuan-Primary points [Taichong (LR 3), Taibai (SP 3) and Taixi (KI 3)] and Xi-Cleft points [Zhongdu (LR 6), Diji (SP 8) and Shuiquan (KI 5)], belonging to the three yin meridians of foot and adjacent to the spinal cord segment of the uterus, were selected as the detection acupoints; the crossing point of the three yin meridians of foot [Sanyinjiao (SP 6)], the uterus-related meridian acupoint [Xuehai (SP 10)], the uterus-non-related meridian acupoint [Xuanzhong (GB 39)], and the non-meridian non-acupoint point were selected as the control points. The laser speckle blood flow imaging technique was used to monitor the blood perfusion volume in skin microcirculation at the above points at the menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal phases of the subjects. Results: The blood perfusion volume in the body surface microcirculation at the right Zhongdu (LR 6) at the ovulatory phase was higher than that at the menstrual, follicular and luteal phases (all P<0.05); there was no significant difference in the microcirculation blood perfusion volume at the other points among different phases (all P>0.05). Conclusion: The blood perfusion volume in the body surface microcirculation at Zhongdu (LR 6), the Xi-Cleft point of the Liver Meridian, shows a specific response to qi and blood changes in the uterus of women with moderate constitution.

Objective:To assess the anti-hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) titers in children after completion of chemotherapy and (or) hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), evaluate the efficacy and safety of the current hepatitis B re-vaccination schedule. Methods:A total of 239 children who completed their chemotherapy and (or) HSCT and visited the vaccination clinic of Shanghai Children′s Medical Center from March 2017 to July 2019 were enrolled in this study. According to the previous diseases, patients were divided into leukemia group (85 cases), lymphoma group (30 cases), solid tumor group (49 cases) and non-malignant hematological disease group (75 cases). According to the treatment of previous diseases, the patients were divided into chemotherapy group (126 cases), HSCT group (89 cases) and chemotherapy plus HSCT group (24 cases). HBsAb titers were assessed both at the time of diagnosis and after completion of treatment and some children who were HBsAb seronegative were re-vaccinated with 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine, the vaccine-related adverse reactions were monitored. HBsAb titers were measured again one month after the completion of inoculation. HBsAb titers were defined as negative at levels <10 U/L and positive at ≥ 10 U/L. Chi-square test or Fisher exact test was used to compare the difference of negative conversion rate of hepatitis B antibody between groups, and Logistic regression was used to explore the risk factors of hepatitis B antibody negative conversion. Results:Among 239 patients, there were 143 males and 96 females. At the time of diagnosis, 179 patients (74.9%) were HBsAb seropositive and 60 patients (25.1%) were HBsAb seronegative. After completion of chemotherapy and (or) HSCT, 133 of 179 children with HBsAb seropositive (74.3%) at diagnosis became HBsAb seronegative. Univariate analysis showed significant differences at the negative conversion rates of HBsAb between different disease groups (χ2=10.211, P=0.015), different treatments groups (χ2=14.899, P<0.01) and different HBsAb titers groups before treatment (χ2=32.117, P<0.01). Logistic regression showed that HSCT (chemotherapy group as the reference, odds ratio ( OR)=2.999, 95% confidence interval ( CI) 1.276-7.050, P=0.012) and HBsAb titers<328.2 U/L before treatment (HBsAb titers≥328.2 U/L group as the reference, OR=6.397, 95% CI3.159-12.954, P<0.01) were risk factors for negative conversion of HBsAb. Among 48 patients whose HBsAb was seronegative after completion of chemotherapy and (or) HSCT and re-vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine, 47 (97.9%) cases became HBsAb seropositivie. No serious adverse effects or complications were reported among these patients. Conclusions:After completion of chemotherapy and (or) HSCT, most children completely lose their protective humoral immunity against hepatitis B. Hepatitis B re-vaccination schedule can be efficiently and safely applied in those patients.

Background:
Extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal type, is an aggressive entity within the World Health Organization classification of lymphoid tumors. The International Prognostic Index is reported to be prognostically meaningful for ENKTL, but lacks discriminatory power for stage I/II ENKTL with extensive local invasion. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic effects of local invasion by site and tissue type in patients with ENKTL.
Methods:
We retrospectively analyzed data of 86 patients who were diagnosed with ENKTL by the Department of Pathology of Beijing Tongren Hospital from June 2002 to April 2016, and ascertained tumor infiltration of adjacent structures (AS), bone, and soft tissue for each patient, using physical findings and imaging scans. We used univariate and multivariate analysis to assess the association of each involved tissue or site with patients’ overall survival (OS).
Results:
Of the 86 patients, 71(82.6%) experienced invasion of AS, 22(25.6%) of soft tissue, and 26(30.2%) had bone involvement. Overall, patients with AS involvement did not show significantly shorter survival than those without AS involvement (Log rank χ2 = 1.177,

Aim To develop the in vitro and in vivo models induced by shrimp tropomyosin( ST) and mono-clonal tropomyosin-specific murine IgE antibody ( anti-ST-IgE mAb) . Methods ST was purified from Metap-enaeusensis by an isoelectric precipitation method. The anti-ST-IgE mAb was obtained from hybridomas. After RBL-2 H3 cells were sensitized with anti-ST-IgE mAb and challenged with ST,β-hexosaminidase release was determined. Passive systemic anaphylaxis ( PSA ) was induced in mice and the rectal temperature was recor-ded after ST challenge within 30 min by a thermal probe. Results A significant increase ofβ-hexosamin-idase was observed in sensitized cells after ST chal-lenge. The average temperature drop after ST challenge was 1. 44℃ in PSA mice within 30 min. Conclusion The in vitro and in vivo models induced by ST and anti-ST-IgE mAb are established as an improvement of pres-ent models of type Ⅰ allergy.
