Colorectal cancer （CRC） is a common malignant tumor of the digestive tract with high morbidity and mortality. Although existing treatments can prolong the survival of patients， problems such as low quality of life， obvious side effects， and unsatisfactory clinical efficacy still exist， which cannot fully satisfy the overall needs of patients. For this reason， it is crucial to explore the mechanism underlying the development of CRC and to identify new treatment strategies. In recent years， with the deepening of research， ferroptosis has been gradually proven to effectively inhibit the proliferation and metastasis of CRC cells， overcome tumor drug resistance， enhance anti-tumor efficacy， and prevent tumor progression and recurrence. Therefore， regulating ferroptosis is expected to become a new strategy for the treatment of CRC. Traditional Chinese medicine （TCM） has been widely used in CRC treatment due to its advantages of multiple components， multiple targets， low drug resistance， and few side effects， and has gradually become a current research hotspot. Extensive studies have shown that TCM active ingredients and compound formulae can regulate ferroptosis-related pathways， such as iron metabolism， lipid metabolism， the cystine/glutamate antiporter system X_c^- （System X_c^-）/glutathione （GSH）/glutathione peroxidase 4 （GPX4）， ferroptosis suppressor protein 1 （FSP1）/coenzyme Q₁₀ （CoQ₁₀）/nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate ［NAD（P）H］， tumor protein 53 （p53）， nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 （Nrf2）， and non-coding RNA pathways to inhibit the growth and proliferation of CRC， thereby exerting anti-tumor effects. This review systematically summarized the mechanisms of ferroptosis related to CRC， therapeutic targets and prognosis-related markers associated with ferroptosis in CRC， and research progress on TCM targeting and regulating ferroptosis for CRC intervention， aiming to provide new perspectives and a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of CRC with TCM.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of human T-lymphotropic virus (HTLV) infection among blood donors in Hunan Province from 2022 to 2024. Methods: A total of 1 830 342 blood donors from 14 prefecture-level blood centers in Hunan Province over the past three years were screened for anti-HTLV-Ⅰ/Ⅱ using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Initially reactive samples were further tested with Line Immunoassay (LIA )/MP-Western blot and RT-PCR nucleic acid test for confirmation. Blood donors confirmed positive for HTLV were tracked and followed up. Results: From 2022 to 2024, the initial ELISA reactive rate for anti-HTLV-I/II among blood donors in Hunan Province was 1.36 per 10 000 (249/1 830 342). The confirmed positive rate was 0.20 per 10 000 (37/1 830 342), accounting for 14.86% of the initially reactive donors. The follow-up success rate for confirmed HTLV-positive blood donors was only 18.92%, while that for HTLV-indeterminate donors was 54.17%. Conclusion: The confirmed HTLV infection rates in Yueyang, Loudi, Shaoyang, Yiyang, and Zhuzhou cities were higher than the provincial (0.20 per 10 000). Chenzhou, Yongzhou, Zhangjiajie, and Xiangxi were identified as low prevalence areas, with an infection rate of 0. The overall follow-up success rate was low, indicating significant difficulties and bottlenecks in follow-up work. The comprehensive screening for HTLV and follow-up studies in Hunan provide valuable data to further improve blood safety testing strategies and risk warning mechanisms.

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC), a highly aggressive subtype of lung cancer that originates from pulmonary neuroendocrine cells, accounts for 10% to 15% of all lung cancers. It is characterized by a high rate of early metastasis and extremely poor prognosis, often accompanied by challenges such as drug resistance and recurrence. Related researches indicates that the Notch signaling pathway plays a crucial role in the occurrence and development of SCLC by regulating processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. In SCLC, abnormal Notch signaling may promote tumor malignancy and the occurrence of drug resistance. Additionally, the Notch pathway is involved in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of SCLC and influences immune escape mechanisms through interactions with the tumor immune microenvironment. This article reviews the molecular mechanisms of Notch signaling in SCLC, including the roles of its receptors and ligands, signal transduction processes, and its role in tumorigenesis. It also discusses the research progress of Notch signaling as a potential therapeutic target and looks forward to future research directions in this field.

Drinking culture has high significance in both China and the world, whether in the entertainment sector or in social occasions; according to the World Health Organization's 2018 Global Alcohol and Health Report, about 3 million people died from excessive drinking in 2016, accounting for 5.3% of the total global deaths that year. Oxidative stress and inflammation are the most common pathological phenomena caused by alcohol abuse (Snyder et al., 2017). Scutellarin, a kind of flavonoid, is one of the main active ingredients extracted from breviscapine. It exerts anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and vasodilation effects, and has been used to treat cardiovascular diseases and alcoholic liver injury. Although scutellarin can effectively alleviate multi-target organ injury induced by different forms of stimulation, its protective effect on alcoholic brain injury has not been well-defined. Therefore, the present study established an acute alcohol mice brain injury model to explore the effect of scutellarin on acute alcoholic brain injury. The study was carried out based on the targets of oxidative stress and inflammation, which is of great significance for the targeted therapy of clinical alcohol diseases.

Objective:To observe the effect of thoracic infusion of pseudomonas aeruginosa injection in malignant pleural effusion. Methods:A total of 90 patients with malignant pleural effusion were randomly divided into treatment group (31 cases),control group A (29 cases) and control group B(30 cases). Treatment group was treated with pseudomonas aeruginosa through intrathoracic infusion. Control group A and B were respectively treated with cisplatin and interleukin-2 through intrathoracic infusion. The clinical efficacy and adverse reaction were compared among the three groups. Results:The total effective rate of treatment group was 80.6%,the total effective rates of the control group A and B were 51.7%and 56.7%respectively.Compared with that of contral groups, the total effective rate of treatment group was higher, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of serious side effects and toxicity was lower in treatment group than in control groups. Conclusion:The effect of thoracic infusion of pseudomonas aeruginosa injection for malignant pleural effusion is significant, and the adverse reaction is mild. Thus it is worth to be promoted clinically.
