Objective:
To investigate the prevalence of depressive symptoms and their associated factors among students in Zhejiang Province, so as to provide evidence for targeted prevention strategies.
Methods:
A stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 23 829 college students and primary and secondary school students aged 11-22 years in Zhejiang Province from December 2019 to February 2020. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Three machine learning algorithms, including Logistic regression, random forest, and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), were applied to construct predictive models, and key associated factors were identified by comparing model performance.
Results:
The detection rate of depressive symptoms among students in Zhejiang Province was 19.92%; the rates were 17.20% in boys and 22.87% in girls( χ 2=164.89, P <0.05). The CES-D total score was 9.00(4.00,13.00). Multiple Logistic regression analysis revealed that loneliness had the strongest association with depressive symptoms ( AOR =9.58, 95% CI =8.90-10.30), while bullying exposure ( AOR =4.39, 95% CI =4.02-4.80), female students( AOR =1.81, 95% CI =1.68-1.94),never eating breakfast ( AOR = 2.34,95% CI =2.00-2.67) and overweight/obesity( AOR =1.10,95% CI =1.08-1.12) were significant associated factors of depressive symptoms among students (all P <0.05). Analysis based on the XGBoost model produced highly consistent results, identifying the above 5 factors as the core features with the highest correlation strength (all P <0.05).
Conclusions
Female, loneliness, bullying exposure, frequency of weekly breakfast and BMI are strongly associated with depressive symptoms among students. Mental health education for high risk groups should be strengthened, and coordinated prevention efforts between families and schools are recommended.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a central neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive cognitive decline and memory impairment in clinical. Currently, there are no effective treatments for AD. In recent years, a variety of therapeutic approaches from different perspectives have been explored to treat AD. Although the drug therapies targeted at the clearance of amyloid β-protein (Aβ) had made a breakthrough in clinical trials, there were associated with adverse events. Neuroinflammation plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of AD. Continuous neuroinflammatory was considered to be the third major pathological feature of AD, which could promote the formation of extracellular amyloid plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles. At the same time, these toxic substances could accelerate the development of neuroinflammation, form a vicious cycle, and exacerbate disease progression. Reducing neuroinflammation could break the feedback loop pattern between neuroinflammation, Aβ plaque deposition and Tau tangles, which might be an effective therapeutic strategy for treating AD. Traditional Chinese herbs such as Polygonum multiflorum and Curcuma were utilized in the treatment of AD due to their ability to mitigate neuroinflammation. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen and indomethacin had been shown to reduce the level of inflammasomes in the body, and taking these drugs was associated with a low incidence of AD. Biosynthetic nanomaterials loaded with oxytocin were demonstrated to have the capability to anti-inflammatory and penetrate the blood-brain barrier effectively, and they played an anti-inflammatory role via sustained-releasing oxytocin in the brain. Transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells could reduce neuroinflammation and inhibit the activation of microglia. The secretion of mesenchymal stem cells could not only improve neuroinflammation, but also exert a multi-target comprehensive therapeutic effect, making it potentially more suitable for the treatment of AD. Enhancing the level of TREM2 in microglial cells using gene editing technologies, or application of TREM2 antibodies such as Ab-T1, hT2AB could improve microglial cell function and reduce the level of neuroinflammation, which might be a potential treatment for AD. Probiotic therapy, fecal flora transplantation, antibiotic therapy, and dietary intervention could reshape the composition of the gut microbiota and alleviate neuroinflammation through the gut-brain axis. However, the drugs of sodium oligomannose remain controversial. Both exercise intervention and electromagnetic intervention had the potential to attenuate neuroinflammation, thereby delaying AD process. This article focuses on the role of drug therapy, gene therapy, stem cell therapy, gut microbiota therapy, exercise intervention, and brain stimulation in improving neuroinflammation in recent years, aiming to provide a novel insight for the treatment of AD by intervening neuroinflammation in the future.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of a boy with X-linked familial Behcet-like autoinflammatory syndrome-2 (AIFBL2).
METHODS:
A boy who was admitted to Children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University in December 2023 due to recurrent oral ulcers for 2 years, intermittent abdominal pain and fever for more than 1 year was selected as the study subject. Clinical data of the patient was collected. Whole exome sequencing (WES) was carried out, and candidate variant was verified by Sanger sequencing and bioinformatic analysis. A literature search was conducted in OMIM, PubMed, Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, China Biomedical Literature Service System, and the VIP database using the keywords "ELF4 gene" "deficiency in ELF4, X-linked" "ELF4 deficiency" and "DEX" to identify recently published studies. This study was approved by the Medical Ethics Committee of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University (Ethics No.: 2023-H-K44).
RESULTS:
The patient, a 12-year-old male, presented with recurrent mouth ulcers, fever and abdominal pain. Lymphocyte subsets showed a significant decrease in NK cells. Abdominal CT showed thickening of local intestinal wall in the lower right abdomen. Colonoscopy revealed a solitary deep longitudinal ulcer in the ileocecal region. Genetic testing revealed a hemizygote missense variant c.687C>G, with his mother showing the same mutation at this locus. According to the guidelines of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG), the variant was considered likely pathogenic (PP1+PP2+PM2_Supporting+PP3+PP4). Literature review has found 19 AIFBL2 patients including 1 patient from this study. Mouth ulcer, fever, rash and abdominal pain were the primary clinical manifestations, for which genetic testing is the main diagnostic method.
CONCLUSION
The hemizygote c.687C>G missense variant of the ELF4 gene probably underlay the AIFBL2 in this child, which has provided a basis for his clinical diagnosis and genetic counseling.

Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2025;49(6):700-705
[Objective]To propose the strategy of"active menstruation regulation"based on the understanding of menstruation in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),and explore the role of active menstruation regulation in the protection of female fertility.[Methods]Combined with the classic theory of TCM,modern research and clinical cases, the relationship between menstruation pattern and fertility, the role of external environment on the homeostasis of reproductive tract microenvironment and the practical evidence of active menstruation regulation intervention strategies were discussed respectively from three aspects, which were"women have regular menstrual cycle,so they have children","the warmth and coldness of menstrual blood correspond to the nature"and"regulating menstruation first before conception, and women will be pregnant naturally".[Results]Menstrual pattern is an external representation of female fertility, and the change of menstrual cycle can be used as an early marker of fertility decline.Cycle regularity, menstrual length, bleeding volume, color and texture of menstrual blood are also closely related to fertility. The change of menstrual pattern is the primary response of the reproductive tract to environmental stress.Long-term environmental stress can change menstrual pattern by regulating mucosal immunity, microbiota and hormone levels, aggravating the instability of the reproductive tract microenvironment, and then affecting fertility."Active menstruation regulation"is an effective strategy to protect fertility. The theory of menstruation regulation in TCM,modern network pharmacology research and clinical practice of menstrual diseases have shown that active regulation of menstrual patterns through TCM treatment, lifestyle and other interventions can effectively protect and improve female fertility.[Conclusion]Promoting the application of active menstrual regulation strategies and methods in fertility protection is not only the development of the theory of preventive treatment of diseases in TCM,but also provides new intervention ideas for solving the public health problems caused by modern fertility decline.

Chinese Medical Equipment Journal 2025;46(2):49-55
Objective To evaluate the registration accuracy of progressive biomechanical shrinkage set of MIM system to provide registration evaluation data support for registration demand scenarios such as treatment response feedback and dose stacking in tumor adaptive radiotherapy. Methods The CT images of a fresh pork liver with 60 gold markers in different shrinkage states at different heating time were used as the phantom images containing gold markers, and the phantom images without gold markers were obtained by replacing the pixel values at the high-density points containing the gold markers with the pixel averages of the pork liver tissue near the gold marker points.Secondly, the two types of phantom images were introduced into MIM system for registration by two methods of deformable image registration(DIR)and contour boundary-based hybrid deformable image registration(HY-DIR).Finally,the mean values of target registration errors(TRE)were cal-culated between the real gold marker points and the ones by registrating respectively all the gold marker points,23 internal points and 37 superfacial points. The Dice coefficients and Hausdorff distances were computed, and correlation and difference analyses were carried out between four groups of DIR with gold marker,HY-DIR with gold marker,DIR without gold marker and HY-DIR without gold marker.SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis. Results At 30 s time-phase,the mean values of TRE ranged from 2.14 to 2.20 mm,and the Dice coefficients were all 0.94;at 60-90 s time-phase,the mean values of TRE were from 3.02 to 5.32 mm,and the Dice coefficients were restricted between 0.95 and 0.97;at 110-200 s time-phase,the mean values of TRE were higher than 4 mm,and the Dice coefficients were from 0.93 to 0.96.The Hausdorff distance had high mean value at 30-200 s time-phase,with a minimum value of 3.85 mm and a maximum value of 17.91 mm.The mean value and standard deviation of TRE of the superfacial gold marker points were all higher than those of the internal points. In case of registration by DIR the Dice coefficients had medium-strength correlations with the TRE mean values of the internal points and all the points(0.4<r<0.6).In case of registration by HY-DIR the Dice coefficients did not correlated with the TRE mean values(r<0.2).In terms of TRE mean value there were significant difference between DIR with gold marker group and HY-DIR with gold marker group(P=0.026)and between DIR with gold marker group and DIR without gold marker group(P=0.036).Conclusion When MMI software is used for self-addaptive radiotherapy registration, satisfactory results are obtained at 30 s time-phase;at 60-90 s time-phase(volume shrinkage lower than 20%),some low registration errors occur and need artificial correction;at 100-200 s time-phase(volume shrinkage higher than 20%),high registration errors appear while the registration with gold markers be haves better than that without gold markers and DIR gains advantages over HY-DIR.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2025,46(2):49-55]
