Objective To evaluate the rehabilitative effect of targeted sonic vibration load brushing method in stroke patients with oral phase swallowing disorders. Methods A total of 60 stroke patients with swallowing disor-ders,who hospitalized in the rehabilitation department of a Grade Ⅲ Class A hospital in Nanjing City from October 2023 to May 2024,were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group, with 30 patients in each group. Both groups received the conventional swallowing function training. The experimental group received targeted sonic vibration load brushing therapy, while the control group received routine oral care with manual toothbrushes. After 30 days of intervention, the swallowing function(Gugging Swallowing Screen,GUSS),modified Beck oral score, incidence of swallowing disorder-related complications,Swallowing Quality of Life(SWAL-QOL)scores,and oral care satisfaction were assessed in both groups. Results No sample detachment. After the intervention, the GUSS score for the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group, with a statistical difference(Z=-4.239,P<0.001).Additionally,the modified Beck oral score and the overall complications rate related to swallowing disor-ders in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group(both P<0.05).Furthermore,the SWAL-QOL score and the oral care satisfaction score were both higher in the experimental group compared to those in the control group, with statistically significant differences(both P<0.001).Conclusion Targeted sonic vibration load brushing method significantly improves swallowing function, enhances oral cleanliness, reduces the occurrence of swallowing disorder-related complications, and effectively improves patients' quality of life and nursing satisfaction.

Objective To construct a nomogram model for prolonged length of stay in patients with acute cerebral infarction(ACI)based on total cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)burden scores, and validate its effectiveness. Methods A total of 462 ACI patients admitted to the Department of Neurology of South Taihu Hospital Affiliated To Huzhou College from January 2021 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects.According to the ratio of 7:3,patients were divided into training group of 323 cases and validation group of 139 cases.Lasso-Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors for prolonged length of stay in ACI patients, construct a nomogram model and validate the model using validation data.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve were used to evaluate the predictive performance of the model. Results Based on the training group data,Lasso regression screened four non-zero coefficient indicators, including baseline National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)score,age-adjusted Charlson comorbidity index(aCCI)score, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and total CSVD burden score.Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that baseline NIHSS score,aCCI score,NLR and total CSVD burden score were independent risk factors for prolonged length of stay in ACI patients(P<0.05).Based on the above four indicators,a nomogram model was constructed. The results showed that the ROC curve area of the model predicted prolonged length of stay between training group and validation group were 0.812(95%CI:0.756-0.868)and 0.820(95%CI:0.730-0.909).Conclusion The nomogram model for prolonged length of stay in ACI patients based on total CSVD burden score has good predictive performance and can be used as a screening tool for evaluating the prolonged length of stay in ACI patients.

Aortic stenosis is a valve disease characterized by dynamic and continuous changes in structure and function of left ventricle.Left ventricular remodeling, which embodies pathological changes in myocardial cellular and ventricular geometry,is an important prognostic factor of patients with aortic stenosis.Aortic valve replacement is the only effective treatment for severe aortic stenosis.Current guideline recommendations for interventions are based on symptoms and left ventricular ejection fraction. With the improvements of modern imaging technology, different patterns of remodeling, including hypertrophy and fibrosis, could be identified now.Studies also explored the close association between left ventricular remodeling and function in the setting of aortic stenosis. In this review,we aim to elucidate the characteristic imaging features and potential mechanisms of left ventricular remodeling, and further,we highlight the clinical value of specific imaging features and clinical application of modern imaging methods in the evaluation, risk stratification, and intervention decision-making for patients with aortic stenosis.

To explore the impact of Salmonella on Enterococcusfaecalis isolate N41 under the coexisting, the growth traits and the transcription of 26 virulence genes of N41 at various growth phases were detected.Salmonella and/or N41 were inoculated and done plate counting, then growth curves were drawn and bacterial total RNA were extracted at given time points, quantitive realtime PCR was used to analyze the RNA transcription levels of 26 virulence genes of N41.The result showed that comparison with single incubation, the bacteria concentration of N41 dropped about 3.9 times, and Salmonella dropped about 110-times.Among 26 virulence genes of N41,the RNA transcription levels of 12 virulence genes such as ebpA,ebpC,rnjB,ace, ebpR,psr and so on were promoted at the four growth phases, but the RNA transcription levels of SlyA and sprE were dropped.Except that the RNA transcription levels of CylL-S,CylL-L,efaA and AS had no significant changes at the four growth phases, the mostly rest genes increased dramatically at post-log phase. This indicated that when incubated together,N41 inhibited the growth of Salmonella significantly, and Salmonella promoted the transcription levels of virulence genes of N41 as a whole. The results lay a foundation for further research on the interaction between bacteria species and the pathogenicity mechanism of Enterococci.

Objective To determine the relationship of the expression of aquaporin 5 (AQP5)with clinicopathology and prognosis of colorectal cancer. Methods We collected data from 45 patients with primary colorectal cancer without any adjuvant therapy before operation. The expression of AQP5 was measured by immunohistochemistry (IHC).Then we analyzed the correlation between AQP5 expression and clinicopathological parameters (including age, tumor size, clinical staging, tumor location, lymph node and pathological type)and the connection between AQP5 expression and prognosis based on follow-up data. Results Of the 45 tumor specimens,14 (31.1%)had a high level of AQP5 expression,29 (64.4%)exhibited a moderate level of staining, and 2 (4.4%)had an absence of AQP5 staining.AQP5 was only occasionally detected in para-neoplastic [3/45 (6.67%)]and normal tissues [3/45 (6.67%)].The overexpression of AQP5 was also positively associated with TNM stage (P =0.002),lymph node metastasis (P =0.01 6),and distant metastasis (P =0.000).However,it had no significant association with age, gender, histologic grade or tumor size (P > 0.05 ).Conclusion AQP5 may be used as a novel biomarker for predicting the prognosis of colorectal cancer.
