Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and spatial-temporal clustering trend of scarlet fever in Nantong from 2009 to 2023, and to provide a scientific basis for scarlet fever prevention and control. Methods The incidence data of scarlet fever in Nantong from 2009 to 2023 were analyzed. Descriptive analysis, seasonal index method and Joinpoint 5.2.0 software were used to analyze epidemiological characteristics. Spatial-temporal clustering was assessed with SaTScan 10.2.5 software. Results The average annual incidence of scarlet fever in Nantong from 2009 to 2023 was 6.54/100 000. The overall morbidity rate of scarlet fever in Nantong had an increasing trend from 2009 to 2019 with an average annual percentage change of 14.55% (t=3.36，P<0.05). The cases mainly occurred during late spring to early summer and late autumn to early winter. Students, preschool children and scattered children were the main scarlet fever population. The average annual incidence of males was significantly higher than that of females (χ²=7.00, P<0.05). Rugao City, Chongchuan District and Tongzhou District were identified as high-incidence areas, accounting for 76.51% of all reported cases. Spatial-temporal scan analysis indicated that Rugao City and Chongchuan District were primary cluster areas, spanning from 2015 to 2021 (RR=3.77, LLR=1 308.07, P<0.05). Conclusion The number of reported cases of scarlet fever in Nantong City from 2009 to 2023 shows epidemic and spatial clustering, mainly concentrated in the central urban area and adjacent counties (cities). It is necessary to strengthen health education and disease surveillance in high-incidence areas, as well as in key institutions and key populations before epidemic peaks.

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and incidence trend of mumps in Nantong City from 2016 to 2023, and to provide a basis for scientific prevention and control. Methods Descriptive statistical analysis was conducted on monthly mumps incidence data in Nantong City from 2016 to 2023, and a SARIMA model was constructed to predict the incidence trend. Results A total of 3 928 mumps cases were reported in Nantong City from 2016 to 2023, with an average annual incidence rate of 6.36/100 000. Cases predominantly occurred during April–July and September–December, showing seasonal peaks. The male-to-female ratio was 1.43:1. The cases were concentrated in individuals aged ≤15 years (85.57%), primarily students, children in childcare settings, and scattered children (88.31%). The optimal model constructed by the SPSS Expert Modeler was SARIMA(1,0,0)(0,1,1)₁₂, predicting an epidemic peak of mumps in Nantong City from September to November in the second half of 2024. Conclusion From 2016 to 2023, mumps incidence in Nantong City has shown an overall downward trend with a seasonal bimodal distribution. Males had higher incidence rates than females, and cases were predominantly students, kindergartens and scattered children, highlighting the need to strengthen mumps prevention in schools and childcare institutions. The SARIMA model is suitable for short to medium term prediction of mumps in Nantong City. A minor peak is predicted to occur in the second half of 2024 (September–November). It is necessary to strengthen the epidemic surveillance of mumps and vaccination of age-eligible children.

Objective:To investigate the value of gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI combined with T 1 mapping in preoperative prediction of cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and glypican-3 (GPC3) positive dual-phenotype hepatocellular carcinoma (DPHCC). Methods:This case-control study included retrospectively enrolled patients with pathologically confirmed HCC from Central People′s Hospital of Zhanjiang (training set, n=85; December 2020 to July 2022) and the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, South China University of Technology (test set, n=35; April 2023 to April 2024). Patients were categorized into CK19 and GPC3 positive DPHCC group (training set=19, test set=11) and non-DPHCC group (training set=66, test set=24) based on postoperative immunohistochemical staining. All patients received preoperative MRI scans, including gadoxetate disodium-enhanced imaging and T 1 mapping. Clinical data were collected, qualitative MRI features were evaluated, and quantitative parameters were measured, including signal intensity, T 1 values, apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), tumor-to-liver ADC ratio (rADC), tumor-to-liver signal intensity ratio, and T 1 relaxation time reduction rate (ΔT 1%). Statistical comparisons between groups were performed using independent t-tests, Mann-Whitney U tests, or χ2 tests. Multivariate logistic regression identified independent predictors of CK19 and GPC3 positive DPHCC, and a combined model was constructed. Predictive performance was evaluated using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC), with DeLong test comparing model performance. Results:Significant intergroup differences were observed in alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, DWI target sign, rADC, hepatobiliary-phase T 1 (T 1HBP), and ΔT 1% ( P<0.05). Multivariate analysis identified AFP>20 ng/ml ( OR=5.835, 95% CI 1.019-33.397, P=0.048), DWI target sign ( OR=13.408, 95% CI 2.216-81.131, P=0.005), and ΔT1%≤31% ( OR=14.429, 95% CI 2.166-96.125, P=0.006) as independent predictors of DPHCC. The AUC values of the aforementioned three independent predictors and the combined model for predicting DPHCC were 0.641 (95% CI 0.530-0.742), 0.679 (95% CI 0.569-0.777), 0.740 (95% CI 0.634-0.829), and 0.886 (95% CI 0.799-0.945) in the training set, and 0.568 (95% CI 0.390-0.743), 0.669 (95% CI 0.490-0.818), 0.689 (95% CI 0.511-0.843), and 0.824 (95% CI 0.658-0.931) in the test set, respectively. The DeLong test results showed that in the training set, the diagnostic performance of the combined model was superior to those of the three individual features ( Z=3.68, P<0.001; Z=3.15, P=0.002; Z=3.15, P=0.002). In the test cohort, the combined model demonstrated better diagnostic performance than AFP>20 ng/ml and ΔT 1%≤31% ( Z=2.15, P=0.032; Z=2.12, P=0.034), while no statistically significant difference was observed compared with the DWI target sign ( Z=1.77, P=0.076). Conclusion:The integrated model incorporating clinical data, gadoxetate disodium-enhanced MRI, and T 1 mapping parameters effectively predicts CK19 and GPC3 positive DPHCC.

Objective To investigate the effect of Nutlin-3a,a mouse double minute 2 homolog(MDM2)inhibitor,on lipid metabolism of mouse adipose.Methods High-fat diet-induced obesity(DIO)C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a control group injected with DMSO and an experimental group injected with Nutlin-3a.Then we conducted glucose tolerance(GTT)and insulin tolerance(ITT)tests.The epididymal white adipose tissue(eWAT),inguinal white adipose tissue(iWAT)and brown adipose tissue(BAT)of animals were isolated and microscopy of WATs with hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining was performed to observe the morphological changes of adipocytes.The expression of lipid metabolism related gene cell death-inducing DFF45-like effector C(CIDEC)in eWAT were detected by qPCR and Western blot.Results Compared with the control group,Nutlin-3a was found to promote the body weight(P＜0.001),but no effect on glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity in DIO mice.Nutlin-3a treatment decreased the size of adipocytes and fat deposition in adipose tissue and downregulated the mRNA and protein levels of CIDEC in eWAT.Conclusions Nutlin-3a inhibits the formation of lipid droplets by downregulating expression of CIDEC in white adipose tissue.

As an interface between external electronic devices and internal neural nuclei, microelectrodes play an important role in many fields, such as animal robots, deep brain stimulation and neural prostheses. Aiming at the problem of high price and complicated fabrication process of microelectrode, a microelectrode twisting machine based on open source electronic prototyping platform (Arduino) and three-dimensional printing technology was proposed, and its microelectrode fabrication performance and neural stimulation performance were verified. The results show that during the fabrication of microelectrodes, the number of positive twisting turns of the electrode wire should generally be set to about 1.8 times of its length, and the number of reverse twisting rings is independent of the length, generally about 5. Moreover, compared with the traditional instrument, the device is not only inexpensive and simple to manufacture, but also has good expandability. It has a positive significance for both the personalization and popularization of microelectrode fabrication and the reduction of experimental cost.

OBJECTIVETo observe the impact of electroacupuncture (EA) on the quality of life in the patients of female mixed urinary incontinence (MUI) and evaluate its clinical efficacy.

METHODSEA was adopted in 25 cases of MUI at Zhongliao (BL 33) and Huiyang (BL 35), needle retaining for 30 min each time. The treatment was given once every two days, three treatments a week, totally for 12 weeks of treatment. The incontinence quality of life questionnaire (I-QOL), the incontinence impact questionnaire-7 (IIQ-7), the urogenital distress inventory short form (UDI-SF) and the visual analogue scale (VAS) were adopted in the comparison before and after treatment. The efficacy was evaluated.

RESULTSThe curative rate was 52.0% (13/25) and the total effective rate was 96.0% (24/25) in 25 cases. In comparison before and after treatment, in I-QOL, the score of limiting behaviors was increased up to (30.32 ± 3.39) from (11.52 ± 2.45), the score of psychosocial impacts was up to (36.48 ± 2.90) from (13.52 ± 2.25) and the score of social isolation was up to (21.52 ± 1.61) from (9.84 ± 2.23). The score of IIQ-7 was decreased, down to (2.48 ± 1.36) from (11.96 ± 3.45), the score of UDI-SF was down to (2.92 ± 0.95) from (8.84 ± 2.58) and VAS score was down to (1.40 ± 0.91) from (6.96 ± 1.65). The differences were all significant statistically in comparison (all P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONEA improves effectively the quality of life in MUI patients and the clinical efficacy is apparent.

OBJECTIVETo verify the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) for female stress urinary incontinence (SU).

METHODSForty-two patients were randomly divided into an observation group(20 cases) and a control group (22 cases). EA at Zhongliao (BL 33) and Huiyang (BL 35) was used in the observation group. Sham acupuncture at non meridian points, one can beside Zhongliao (BL 33) and Huiyang (BL 35), was applied, and placebo EA was adopted in the control group. Treatment with needle retained for 30 min a time was given once every other day and three times a week for continuous six weeks in the two groups. Urinary and reproductive simple score (UDI),visual analogue scale (VAS) and the frequency of nocturnal enuresis were observed before treatment, at the second, forth and sixth week of treatment in the two groups, and the efficacy was compared.

RESULTSThe effective rates of the observation group were 80.0% (16/20), 95.0% (19/20) and 95.0% (19/20), which were better than 40.9% (9/22), 31.8% (7/22) and 27.3% (6/22) of the control group at the second, forth and sixth week of treatment. The differences were statistically significant between the two groups (all P < 0.05). After treatment in the observation group, the results of UDI, VAS and frequency of nocturnal enuresis were improved compared with those before treatment (all P < 0.05). Along with treatment, all indices were gradually improved, and the change at the sixth week was the most obvious in observation group. The results of the observation group were better than those of the control group at all times (all P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONEA achieves obvious effect for female SUI, and effectively improves the lower urinary trace symptoms, the degree of urinary incontinence and the frequency of nocturnal enuresis. The effect becomes increasingly better along with treatment within six weeks.
