While tumor immunotherapy has improved the prognosis of many patients, immunotherapy drug resistance develops in most tu-mors.Studies of new targets and therapies are needed to overcome this challenge.Growing evidence indicates that Siglecs function in im-mune checkpoints.Siglecs belong to a family of salivary acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectins. The majority of Siglecs are immunosup-pressive transmembrane proteins that bind to sialic acid-containing glycans on glycoproteins and glycolipids.Sialoglycan-Siglec interactions contribute to tumor immune escape and are strongly correlated with poor prognosis in tumor patients. This review will discuss Siglec func-tion in immune checkpoints, and how the interaction between sialic acid and Siglecs regulates the tumor microenvironment to exert thera-peutic effects.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2023;39(12):1057-1069
Pulmonary blast injury has become the main type of trauma in modern warfare, characterized by externally mild injuries but internally severe injuries, rapid disease progression, and a high rate of early death. The injury is complicated in clinical practice, often with multiple and compound injuries. Currently, there is a lack of effective protective materials, accurate injury detection instrument and portable monitoring and transportation equipment, standardized clinical treatment guidelines in various medical centers, and evidence-based guidelines at home and abroad, resulting in a high mortality in clinlcal practice. Therefore, the Trauma Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Editorial Committee of Chinese Journal of Trauma organized military and civilian experts in related fields such as thoracic surgery and traumatic surgery to jointly develop the Clinical treatment guideline for pulmonary blast injury ( version 2023) by combining evidence for effectiveness and clinical first-line treatment experience. This guideline provided 16 recommended opinions surrounding definition, characteristics, pre-hospital diagnosis and treatment, and in-hospital treatment of pulmonary blast injury, hoping to provide a basis for the clinical treatment in hospitals at different levels.

Objective:To retrieve the evidence of scraping operation in patients with neck, shoulder and low back pain, and evaluate and summarize the evidence. Methods:Identified evidence-based problems based on the population, intervention, professional, outcome, setting and type of evidence (PIPOST) model, and searched UpToDate, British Medical Journal (BMJ) Clinical Evidence, Guidelines International Network, Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, New Zealand Guidelines Group, World Health Organization, American College of Physicians Club, BMJ Best Practice, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Joanna Briggs Institute Evidence-Based Health Care Center Database, Nursing Consult, China Guideline Clearinghouse, Cochrane Library, Embase, PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Medlive, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and SinoMed. The retrieval time limit was from March 1, 2012 to April 30, 2022. Four researchers independently evaluated the quality of the article, and two researchers summarized the evidence of the included article. Results:A total of 9 articles were included, including 1 guideline, 2 systematic reviews, and 6 randomized controlled trials. A total of 20 pieces of scraping application evidence were extracted from patients with neck, shoulder and low back pain, including 6 aspects, involving preparation before scraping, scraping intervention methods, scraping degree, precautions, contraindications, and handling of abnormal conditions. Conclusions:The best evidence of scraping therapy to improve patients' neck, shoulder and low back pain summarized in this study can provide a reference for improving the operation practice of medical and nursing staffs and nursing outcomes.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness and associated factors of prevention of motherto-child human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission in Hubei Province, and to provide a reference for prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.Methods In this prospective cohort study,HIV-positive pregnant women who were in some counties and cities of Hubei Province from January 2004 to December 2016 were enrolled.Prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV was conducted for these HIV-positive pregnant women and their infants, and their clinical data were collected.Descriptive analysis and x2 test were used to analyze the general characteristics of HIV-positive pregnant women and their infants.Logistic regression analysis was adopted to explore the associated factors of mother-to-child HIV transmission. Results In total,536 HIV-positive pregnant women (628 pregnancies) were found, among which,334 pregnant women and 345 infants were enrolled in this study.Twenty-four infants were HIV-positive,which was 6.96% in all infants (95%CI:4.27%-9.64%).The rates of mother-to-child HIV transmission without prevention, formula feeding only, infant medication plus formula feeding, mother and infant medication plus formula feeding were 35.71% (95%CI:21.61%-51.93%),8.82% (95%CI:2.08%-15.57%),7.41% (95%CI:0.92%-24.22%),and0.48% (95%CI:0.01%-2.64%),respectively.No antiretroviral medications during delivery (OR =14.484,95 %CI:1.740-120.577,P=0.013),breastfeeding (OR=6.542,95%CI:2.416-17.713,P=0.000),and CD4-T lymphocyte count<200 cells/μL during delivery (OR=3.060,95%CI:1.076-8.703,P=0.036) were independent risk factors of mother-to-child HIV transmission. Conclusions The rate of mother-to-child HIV transmission without prevention is high in Hubei Province, which can be significantly reduced by comprehensive interventions (mother and infant medication plus formula feeding). Thus,we should diagnose HIV-positive pregnant women as early as possible, and should give pregnant woman antiretroviral therapy plus infant medication and formula feeding to further reduce the rate of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Objective To investigate the expression of HSF2 in colonic mucosa of patients with ulcerative colitis (UC),Crohn's disease (CD),intestinal tuberculosis (ITB),intestinal lymphoma (IL),infectious enteritis,Behcet's disease and normal control. Methods Intestinal tissue samples were retrieved from 2003-2011 archived specimen at the Department of Pathology, and assigned to UC group (n =38),CD group (n =29),ITB group (n =31),IL group (n =32),infectious enteritis group (n =32) and Behcet's disease group (n =28).10 cases were recruited as normal control group. The expression of HSF2 in colonic mucosa were detected by immunohistochemistry.Positive cells were counted by Image Analysis. Results The expression rate of HSF2 in intestinal mucosa of UC patients (64.64 ± 15.17) was significantly higher than that of CD (32.44 ± 5.94),ITB (36.93 ± 6.32),IL (36.16 ± 6.55),infectious enteritis (37.86 ±7.76),Behcet's disease (34.90 ±5.92) and normal control (35.54 ±6.76) (P <0.05),while there was no significant difference among the latter six groups (P > 0.05).Conclusion HSF2 is closely related with UC,and may play an important role in the pathogenesis, diagnosis and differential diagnosis of UC.
