The video head impulse test (vHIT) is an advanced diagnostic tool that provides objective, quantitative assessment of vestibulo-ocular reflex function across all six semicircular canals (SCCs). Its relevance in the aerospace domain is particularly notable, as the test operates within the 1–5 Hz frequency range—closely matching natural human head movements—and enables independent evaluation of vertical SCCs, which are sensitive to gravitational forces. This review introduces the principles of vHIT and explores its utility in quantifying vestibular function among fighter pilots.The integration of vHIT into aerospace medicine offers a practical and evidencebased approach to evaluating vestibular function and has its potential in monitoring physiological adaptation to high-speed, high-G flight conditions.

Lower midface concavity due to depressed nasal base and pyriform aperture may be aesthetically displeasing. A relative deficiency in lower midface projection may be congenital or acquired, particularly after cleft surgery and trauma. People with normal occlusion associated with lower midface concavity due to depressed nasal base and pyriform aperture can be corrected with an autologous bone graft or artificial implants. The authors performed paranasal augmentation with an alloplastic implants using a porous polyethylene implants(Medpor(R)) on 430 patients who had visited authors' hospital for aesthetic correction of lower midface contour from January 2000 to June 2009. 425 patients were satisfied with the outcome, which gave them a natural contour. Complications such as dislocation, displacement, infection and extrusion were not observed. Only five patients had their implants removed due to displeasing and foreign body sensations. Alloplastic augmentation in the paranasal area is a very easy procedure and can simulate the visual effect as that of maxillary advancement osteotomy. Paranasal augmentation using a porous polyethylene implants(Medpor(R)) in patients having lower midface concavity with normal occlusion can contribute to the enhancement of the lower midface contour.

PURPOSE: In Korean society, extra-large hospitals are congested with the majority of patients. Because of the congestions, the urgent patients need to wait anywhere from as short as a month to around three months. These concentrations of the patients on the extra-large hospitals causes not only the economic problem in terms of loss of opportunity cost and resources of other medium and large hospitals but also the fear and the consequential stress of the patients and the families of the patients who are waiting for the surgeries. The phenomenon of the concentrations derived due to the insufficient information to the medical consumers. If the information on medical treatment services such as surgery schedule is provided before the selection of hospital, we expect that the selection of hospital for the patients and their family will differ, resulting in redistribution of concentration phenomenon. In this paper, we propose and verify the effective distribution system for the concentration on the extra-large hospitals. METHODS: Web simulation survey was conducted. A total 100 respondents were divided into 4 groups of 25 respondents and the different information was provided to each group. RESULTS: Through multiple comparisons among groups, only group which was provided with both information about 'the difference of surgical results' and 'the waiting time for surgery', had difference in significance. CONCLUSION: By providing two sets of information to patients, reckless selection of extra-large hospitals can be spread to more appropriate hospitals and therefore achieve effective distribution of the population concentration on extra-large hospital.
