1.Discussion on the Academic Connotation of Formulating Treatment for Premature Ovarian Failure from the Viewpoint of Liver Meridian Based on the Theory of Meridian and Collateral with Zang-Fu Organs
Journal of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2025;42(1):140-146
Premature ovarian failure(POF)is the final stage of diminished ovarian reserve, the pathogenesis of POF is complex and is closely related to the dysfunction of five-zang organs, meanwhile,it is also intertwined with pathological products such as qi stagnation, blood stasis and phlegm-damp,and POF is an obstinate disease clinically.Acupuncture and moxibustion are effective in the treatment of POF,based on the theory of meridian and collateral with zang-fu organs, acupuncture and moxibustion further expanding its connotation of formulating, the foot Jueyin meridian system is closely related to the ovaries and the liver of the five-zang organs, which lays a functional structural foundation for the treatment of POF from the viewpoint of liver meridian of foot Jueyin, and it is a key entry point of syndrome differentiation of meridians and collateral for POF.Therefore, based on the theoretical foundation of"meridian and collateral with zang-fu organs",combining with anatomical knowledge, cellular molecular biology and other modern medical research, this paper explores the distinctive pathological relationship of between liver meridian of foot Jueyin and ovarian disease, and lays the foundation for further research on the pathological mechanism of POF and the point selection rules of acupuncture treatment,so as to expand the theoretical basis of acupuncture treatment of POF,and improve the theoretical connotation of formulating of meridian and collateral with zang-fu organs theory.

Objective:
To explore the association of tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and insufficient sleep with depressive symptoms among middle school students, so as to provide a reference for improving mental health of middle school students.
Methods:
In accordance with the cluster random sampling method, a total of 18 484 middle school students in Shanghai were surveyed from September to November 2022. Tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and sleep duration with depressive symptoms were assessed using the relevant scale items included in the questionnaire of Surveillance for Common Disease and Health Risk Factors among Students. The χ 2 test was used for inter group comparison, Logistic regression analysis and likelihood ratio test were used to analyze the independent and aggregated associations of tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet use and insufficient sleep wiht depressive symptoms.
Results:
Self reported rates of tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage, insufficient sleep and depressive symptoms among adolescents were 14.7%, 73.5% and 16.3%, respectively. Tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage ( OR=2.69, 95%CI =2.44-2.97) and insufficient sleep ( OR=1.76, 95%CI =1.58-1.95) were associated with depressive symptoms ( P <0.05). Compared to middle school students with no tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and sufficient sleep, those with both tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and insufficient sleep showed the higher rate of depressive symptoms ( OR=4.71, 95%CI =4.08-5.44, P <0.05). Further stratified analysis results showed that, compared to the boys and the high school students, the separate and joint association of tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and insufficient sleep with depressive symptoms were more pronounced in the girls and the middle school students [ OR (95% CI ) for tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage were 3.09 (2.68-3.56) and 4.74 (3.86-5.83), respectively; OR (95% CI ) for insufficient sleep were 1.86 (1.60-2.17) and 2.00 (1.58-2.53), respectively; and the OR (95% CI ) for the joint association were 6.05 (5.01-7.31) and 9.15 (6.98-11.99), respectively, P <0.05].
Conclusions
Tobacco/alcohol-excessive Internet usage and insufficient sleep are associated with depressive symptoms in middle school students. Prevention and control strategies for adolescent mental health should be developed with consideration of health related behaviors, and also need to be tailored by focusing on gender and grade differences.

AIM: To explore the expressive role of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A_2, high sensitive C-reactive protein and matrix metalloproteinase-9 in vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in a rabbit model. METHODS: Forty eight New Zealand white male rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups (12 rabbits each): control group, stable plaque group, p53 group, and p53+drug group. Rabbits in control group were fed with a regular diet and underwent sham operation. Rabbits in stable plaque group, p53 group and p53+drug group underwent balloon induced arterial wall injury and then were fed on a diet with 1% cholesterol. The animals were all fed for 3 months, then the rabbits in p53 group and p53+drug group underwent Ad5-CMV p53 transfection at 10th week. Before killed, the animals in p53+drug group underwent pharmacological triggering with Russell's viper venom (RVV) and histamine to induce the rupture of the atherosclerotic plaques. At the 1st day and before sacrifice, the serum was collected for measuring Lp-PLA_2, hs-CRP, MMP-9, HDL, LDL and VLDL. The expressions of Lp-PLA_2, hs-CRP and MMP-9 in tissues were determined by the methods of hybridization and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: At the end of 12th week, the serum and tissue levels of Lp-PLA_2 and MMP-9 in stable plaque group, p53 group and p53+drug group were significant different from those in control group and in each group at the first day (P<0.05). The serum levels of Lp-PLA_2 and hs-CRP in p53 group and p53+drug group were significantly higher than those in control group and stable group (P<0.05). The serum levels of Lp-PLA_2, hs-CRP and MMP-9 were all significantly different between p53 group and p53+drug group (P<0.05). At the end of 12th week, pathological results showed that 4 groups were normal artery, stable plaque, vulnerable plaque and rupture plaque, respectively. The fabric cap was thicker in plaque groups than that in normal group (P<0.05). The rupture and formation of thrombus were more significant in p53+drug group than those in p53 group. The serum level of Lp-PLA_2 had negative interrelated relationship with fabric cap in plaque groups (r=-0.710, P<0.01), and hs-CRP, MMP-9 had no interrelated relationships with fabric cap in plaque groups. CONCLUSION: Base on the successful establishment of the atherosclerotic plaque animal model, serum Lp-PLA_2 shows better interrelated relationships to plaques stability. Combination with hs-CRP and MMP-9, we can exactly evaluate the nature of plaques.
